I'm really speechless about Liverpool's condition now.

They had big struggles against Brighton in Anfield. It was really shocking to see Brighton scoring two goals in the first minutes of the match already. Liverpool had a really poor defensive performance in this match by the way. van Dijk and Trent both were very inadequate about keeping the opponent away from their goal. Firmino's great effort was still not enough for a win here. By the way, he is still showing a high level of performance since the day Nunez was transferred. He scored two more goals and consolidated his place in the starting eleven even more. Nunez's job is really hard so this must be a motivation for him. In addition, Trossard made a really great hat-trick and he was the player of the match undoubtedly.

Liverpool need to find a way to fix their defensive issues. Even van Dijk is playing this much badly so the rest of the season can be very tough for them if they don't figure a way out.

It was not a surprise to see Manchester City beat Manchester United but did anybody expect a 6-3 victory? Here is the Premier League table as it stands. The next set of games take place on Saturday 8th October 2022:

It was really an unbelievable win by Manchester City. It was like they were nearly going to win by 6-1 actually. But Martial made a really good contribution after entering the match in the 60th minute by scoring two goals. I think that it was already obvious that Manchester United defense would be helpless against Haaland. It didn't matter how much they were in-form before this one. It is just very hard to stop this goal machine.

Today he scored 3 goals and made 2 assists. His second goal was another Zlatan-like goal by the way. It reminded me of the goal he scored against Dortmund but that one was more impressive of course.    He's scored his 14th goal in the 8th match. If he continues to score in nearly every single match I can't even imagine with how many goals he will have broken the record at the end of the season. It wouldn't be hard for him to score 40+ goals in this case.

Actually I am shocked about what happened to Manchester united,it was a clear victory for Manchester city as Haalan was unstoppable,he broke their defense.Haalan is the man of the match but Marshal did great assuming he started the match maybe it would have turned up to something else. @Pulsar77 in the initial 7 minutes right before the first goal I realised that City are going to score many goals, because they were easily dominating every area of the pitch and a big blunder on Ten Hag part was not to start experienced player’s like Casemiro and Shaw for this important game.

Furthermore if Manchester United ever want to compete with City then they need a player like Halland, but only Mbappe comes to my mind and I don’t think that Manchester United can afford him hence it looks like the title race this season is between Arsenal and City at least for now.

Manchester City just showed how easy they can break the defense of every single one of their opponent no matter how strong they are in defense. Manchester United were pretty solid in defense in their previous big matches indeed. But they were really desperate against especially Haaland of course. After seeing the recent improvement many people waited for Manchester United to fight hard against them. But this match would have been ended even more horrible if Martial didn't score two goals in the last moments.

I wonder what Erik ten Hag is thinking now. The players must have been quite frustrated after playing this much badly. I saw Alex Ferguson and Ronaldo with quite unhappy faces. Ferguson must be really disappointed to see his old team being in such a desperate condition after having great years with them in the past. However he also had bad times at first of course. No, it's entirely on the coach. Ronaldo does not have the right to choose himself to play. I think he's in physical decline, there's no way to improve him because it's normal according to his age. He can't be forced to get better anymore. The coach certainly has the calculation of not playing Ronaldo.
Although Ronaldo was played from the start, I'm also not sure about the effect it had. Game-wise from the start I saw Man United lose possession of the ball and the game. So I think it's true that Man United's quality is a little bit below Man City so it deserves them to lose.

Erik ten Hag doesn't seem like he is a big fan of Ronaldo. Otherwise no matter what he would give many more chances to Ronaldo in the starting eleven. He was one of the best players of his team last season by finishing the season as the 3rd most scorer with 18 goals in the league. As we have left the transfer window behind also he must be able to focus on his game now.

I think that we should see him in the starting eleven against Everton next time. If he starts to play for a much longer time in league matches I'm feeling confident that he will be very useful about scoring. Of course I don't expect to watch the old Ronaldo but making a good level of score contribution would be enough for the team. They need just this when they face offensively strong teams.

@JollyGood I have a different view of this, because after deep introspection now I feel that he wanted to send a message to Ronaldo that he’s no longer important enough to be brought on, and he just gave a diplomatic answer to save himself from more scrutiny.

Also while the derby defeat was very bad, I feel the player’s are to be blamed more because in the first 5 minutes it felt like they already knew that they were going to lose.

Lastly I wouldn’t be surprised if both the team’s missed the champions league spot, but then it’s also possible that one of them wins the champions league and automatically qualify for it next year.

Ronaldo should just retire already. He's probably the only footballer in the entire league who is part-time (ie it's football not his primary occupation) so don't think he cares anymore, it's all barely worth the pennies for him now and otherwise only useful as a status as an SMI. Not even convinced he cares about playing in the team as long as he get's a few minutes towards the end to miss a sitter. Can't hit the target to save his life. The only value to Man U would be experience he brings to the team, but he's too selfish and self-absorbed to be of any use these days. 6 games and how many goals so far this season...?

Ronaldo just can't get his opportunities in the starting eleven in Premier League matches now. He wasn't ten Hag's first choice against Manchester City as well. As long as this continues it is difficult to see Ronaldo performing very well. He was a regular in the lineup last season and scored many important goals for his team in the league.

Ronaldo still wants to play competitive in the Champions League and doesn't think of retiring yet. But if he can't do this for a long time then maybe he might change his mind about retirement. To be honest we don't see even his last season version now. For example, he played really badly against Spain by wasting many chances. It is difficult to expect big teams to be very eager to sign him anymore.

I hope Manchester City can keep that good trend against Southampton and they can win easily, but whatever it is I have my doubts about Newcastle's chances of winning against Brentford.

The biggest disappointment of this season is arguably Nottingham Forest. They were glad that they made it to the Premier League, but they are experiencing a huge disappointment. Despite all the money they spent, it's humiliating to even talk about losing to Leicester with this game and score, who are also in a bad time. Nottingham forest will concede at least 110 120 goals at the end of the season at this rate.

14 goals in 8 matches are unbelievable. 40 goals is an unbelievable number in normal situations but it seems like very likely at this point. He is absolutely playing great and already well adjusted to the team. I hope he will not have a big injury in his career. If he stays healthy, we will see great records being shattered for a long time.

Arsenal - Liverpool is going to be the most attracting game of the week.

This is another important game for Liverpool to improve their league performance. They have been getting draws for two weeks. Especially the last one was due to big defensive issues as they conceded three goals. Arsenal are going to be a more challenging opponent for Liverpool. They are still the leader and their attacking performance is pretty consistent recently. They faced Tottenham which was one of the toughest games in the league for them but they still won by 3-1.

I think Arsenal are slightly closer to a win here. But it is very risky to bet on them at the same time. Considering that both of them are productive teams now I think that both teams to score at 1.50 odd is a very logical choice.

Haaland continued from where he left today and it was his 15th goal in the season. He could have even scored more goals actually but he was a little unlucky. One of his shots hit the goal post for example. Manchester City dominated against Southampton as expected and got a clear 4-0 win. It's already like a farmer's league for Manchester City now I believe but I hope I can get wrong about this later on. For now, Arsenal and Tottenham are doing a good job by fighting hard against Manchester City in the standings.

By the way Chelsea have made a good progress recently. They defeated Wolves 3-0 this time by a solid effort. There were many positive things about their attacking performance. Let's see if they'll be able to keep this up most of the time.
