lodcrappo,

Could you please update cgminer on bamt to 2.3.5?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.msg872298#msg872298

It has been tested by multiple large miners i am in contact with and is stable.

Thanks,

I am testing 2.3.5 now and it seems to have some bugs, I will update again once I have worked with conman to get things straight.

is the fixer broken or is it just me?

installed new copy of BAMT 0.5 on a new rig and fixer is telling me it is up to date?

Seems like the repo is offline

But not sure why it wouldn't throw an error that it can't reach the repo, instead of assuming everything was up to date.

i have a problem. the rig after self reboot doesn't start mining. gpumon shows

Code:
Temp    Fan% (rpm)    Load  Rate     Accept/Invalid   Status

Total: 0 Mhash/s  0 accepted, 0 invalid

but aticonfig shows all adapters

Code:
root@bober05:~# aticonfig --lsa
* 0. 01:00.0 AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series
  1. 02:00.0 AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series
  2. 03:00.0 AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series
  3. 05:00.0 AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series
  4. 06:00.0 AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series
  5. 07:00.0 AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series

After coldreboot all goes well

Code:
Temp    Fan% (rpm)    Load  Rate     Accept/Invalid   Status
0: 52c+    100% (2051+)  99%   171 Mhs  2/0 (0.00%)      pool.ABCPool.co
1: 52c+    100% (2020+)  99%   171 Mhs  2/0 (0.00%)      pool.ABCPool.co
2: 35c+    100% (1926+)  99%   171  Mhs 2/0 (0.00%)      Low Temp
3: 52c+    100% (2053+)  99%   180 Mhs  1/0 (0.00%)      pool.ABCPool.co
4: 48c+    100% (2035)   99%   171 Mhs  1/0 (0.00%)      pool.ABCPool.co
5: 44c+    100% (1982+)  99%   179 Mhs  2/0 (0.00%)      Low Temp

Total: 875.143 Mhash/s  8 accepted, 0 invalid (0.00%)

so why sometimes gpumon shows nothing?

Well if you don't get it working a solution is to sell the 6990 on ebay and buy a 5970.  6990 tend to go a for a bit more so you may come out ahead even with ebay fees.

Your kind words inspired me and today I accomplished something Ive been trying for four months now, I own 5970's two of them, they cost me 331$ each and when you factor in the tax (someone had to pay to import them here) that is equalent of a price of 269$ for someone in a country without nazi-ass protectionistic taxation.

Sweet.

5970s are workers and very flexible in terms of core clock, mem clock, and voltage.

Cgminer 2.3.6 is out.  If anyone would like to test it here are fresh build instructions for BAMT - with preservation of the original files and BFL enabled.
Login as root and follow this (you don't have to stop mining, just restart mining when finished)
Code:
cd /opt/
mkdir ADL
cd ADL
wget http://download2-developer.amd.com/amd/GPU/zip/ADL_SDK_3.0.zip
unzip ADL_SDK_3.0.zip
cd /opt/miners/
wget http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/cgminer-2.3.6.tar.bz2
tar xsfv cgminer-2.3.6.tar.bz2
mv cgminer cgminer.org
mv cgminer-2.3.6 cgminer
cp /opt/ADL/include/*.h /opt/miners/cgminer/ADL_SDK/
cd cgminer
CFLAGS="-O2 -Wall -march=native -I/opt/AMD-APP-SDK-v2.4-lnx32/include/" LDFLAGS="-L/opt/AMD-APP-SDK-v2.4-lnx32/lib/x86/" ./configure --enable-bitforce
make

--submit-stale is default now and will cause an error if it is in your config.

To revert to original
Code:
cd /opt/miners/
mv cgminer.org cgminer
Then restart mining.

Feel free to improve this or tell me it's useless and I'll edit or remove it.

I'm upgrading, but with 71 rigs, it's taking a while :p

We'll see what people think of the latest cgminer in a few days.  given it's track record, i think rushing any new release out would be a mistake.
bamt has always favored stability over the latest and greatest, and I don't plan on changing that strategy.  of course you can always install anything you want on your own, just follow instructions for installing on debian.

The repo is not offline, its just empty.  Hence the effect you are seeing.

Actually I found fixes 15-20, so those are available now.  Not sure if thats enough to take someone from 0.5c to current or not.

All of BAMT is issued under GPL right?
Are there any components which are not FOSS?

Like any linux distro, BAMT is made up of thousands of pieces of software.  The bits I have written myself are GPL v3 (as indicated in their source, which is included in every BAMT image).  The other parts are provided under whatever license the authors have granted.

The BAMT Pro tools (Android app, GUI configuration tool, centralized config manager) are not FOSS.  However, they are not included in the BAMT image.

A quick glance trough this thread did not reveal an answer to me, so I'll ask:

Why are there only 7 gpu instances in bamt.conf ?
Amd drivers support 8, correct ?
I know getting a motherboard to recongnize 8 is impropable, but I'd like to see if I get lucky, if there is no software issue to overcome.

8 GPU not supported with 32bit version of BAMT. (And there is currently no 64bit version)

EDIT: Due to the AMD drivers on 32bit...

BAMT imposes absolutely no limits.  Any limits you may encounter are a result of the AMD drivers.

The AMD drivers limit us to 7 in the current version.  This is explained time and time again.

Let me be very, very clear:  I don't care if BAMT ever supports 8 GPUs.  I think 8 gpu rigs are silly.  I'm not going to waste any time on it.

If you pay me to do the work to support them, I will.

The end.

Ah, no wonder I was getting odd results testing with 8 GPUs. They all were detected and showed up, but only 6 of them mined and a 7th was flakey, with the eighth not mining at all.

I'm able to mine on 7 with no problems.  Not sure why an 8 GPU rig is silly, though.

But in either case, I'm moving to FPGAs anyway at some point, so I'm not losing too much sleep over it.

If you're searching these lines for a point, you've probably missed it.  There was never anything there in the first place.
