answer is simple, if device havent got any problem default config is useful
but you can see my pics i replace all stock screws too, because all of stock screws is big for this pcb and these are not tight.
if you open this case you can remove with your bare hands. poor fabrication. not torked.

I had a situation with my S4 2 days ago where I was changing pools and after I clicked save & apply it crashed.I could not access the web interface nor was it mining to any of the pools. It took me about 2 hours to get to where it is stored and it was running quite hot and roaring like it was trying to take off on a runway. I did a hard reboot and monitored it for an hour. Everything seemed to be running better than before since it was now hashing around 2.1TH instead of 1.9TH so I went back home. After about 3 hours running I noticed the temp rise on 1 board from 49C to 61C. I was not able to get to the miner to reboot it again so it ran all night like that with me stressing.

As soon as I could get to it I hard rebooted again and monitored it for about 4 hours this time. Every thing seems to be running normal again with the boards at 51C and hashing at 2TH now.

I would love to know what could cause this so I can try not to do it again... 

How can I remotely stop the antminer? I know I would only be able to stop it if I can connect to it, but when it is running hot and it seems like something is wrong I would like to be able to stop it so it does not damage itself.

First off, your IP Address provided to you by your IP needs to be a static IP instead of dynamic.  Mine was dynamic with charter communications.  I had to upgrade to a business line with them to get a static IP.  I'm paying $21.00 higher each month for it.  The plus side is if my internet goes down, they are supposed to have me up no more than 4 hours later.  They give business subscribers higher priority over residence.

Once you have a static IP, I would recommend you going to youtube to see what you need to do to connect to devices (your S4) through your router and/or switch that are connected to your modem.  I'm saying to go to youtube because of so many different OS's out there; versions of that OS; routers, etc...

I'm assuming you are set up for DHCP.  You would need to know what address was assigned to it or that you manually assigned to it in your settings so you can connect to it after you connect to your router via the static IP address.

The router would have to be set up a certain way, etc...  That's why I'm saying go to youtube after you get static (same IP address all the time) instead of dynamic service, which changes the IP address all the time.

Yes, they talk about connecting to other "Mac's" within your house or business.  You can also connect to any other devices assigned addresses in DHCP in Airport Extreme Base Station.  However, you first need a "static" IP address to connect to the Base Station so you can connect to other devices through the Base Station.

As for what could be wrong with your S4, I have no clue.  Not my expertise.  Good Luck!

I have got a static outside IP as this is a business premises and I have set the S4 to have a static inside IP. I have port forwarded to 22 (SSH) and 80 (HTTP) of the S4 IP. I can assure you there were no network problems as I run my own servers for hosting, so I hope I know what I am doing there.

I'm just hoping someone who has played around with an S4 a lot or staff from BitmainTech would be able to shed some light on this matter because so far this has not been easy to manage remotely with the issues I have been having, for example with 1 board randomly over-heating when compared to the other 3 and hash rate changing after reboots.

After reading the posts about the voltage regulators not functioning like they should I am a little worried this might be a similar problem or the same thing. And with the stock power supply already close to max it's not good if it is.

Nothing wrong with 60C, I'm almost permanently at 55-60C due to a 35-40C ambient.

This is a software problem. Sometimes i have it too, after power failure. 

You can stop function -  Stop running when temprerature is over 80℃ - only thing  you need  restart miner with PSU manually.

Bitmaintech is not responsible for what you do with your network set up and whether you want to connect remotely or not.  They are only responsible for the unit.  If the unit had problems connecting to it remotely, THEN I could see bitmaintech coming into play.

However, I honestly believe you need to set up your S4 to connect to a DHCP network NOT static in order to connect to it remotely within that network.

I'm not a network specialist.  I'm just telling you how I have mine setup with my Airport Extreme Base Station from Apple.

I had purchased (2) S3s back in September directly from BitMain - so believe I qualify as a prior customer.

When did people start receiving these coupons?  I ordered my S4 on November 14th and wonder if I should be pushing for a rebate due to the failure of them giving me one?

If you can connect to the IP address displayed on the unit while on the same subnet, BitMain has delivered.  If the unit is not displaying an IP Address, then you either don't have dhcp running on that subnet, or the unit does not have a valid network connection (bad cable perhaps?), or the unit is broke - in decreasing order of probability.

The DHCP server issues the static IP to the S4.

Nothing wrong with 60C, I'm almost permanently at 55-60C due to a 35-40C ambient.

But it is in a shopping centre with air-con and an ambient temp of 24C, so going by your temps it being 46C (coolest board) to 51C (hottest board) seems normal. I don't think the 61C is normal at that ambient temp of 24C. It was only 1 board that was reaching high temps, not all 4. The other 3 boards were still running at around the temp they normally are. I monitor this miner several times a day so I do know what my average is for my miner.

It is currently stable with the hottest board at 51C now and hashing at 2TH.

Sorry if I came across too strong there.  Networking can be complex - like learning to swim.  Tough to learn the basics, then it comes naturally. If the groups wants, I can post the basics - should only be a mildly long post...
