1301  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 14, 2023, 01:05:05 PM
I don't know if anyone has seen the fees recently but they are back down to low double digits. Why? Because high fees are not currently sustainable, too small a market. No intervention is required on the fee front for probably decades, if ever, the free market will sort it via good old supply and demand. The solution to high fees is high fees.

Its back to around 5 bucks. Price is going to shoot up once the normies realize the panic is over.
1302  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: May 14, 2023, 11:20:28 AM

I doubt people will still reelect Biden after all the things he did in this first term. He'd be 90+ afaik, as he will just be sitting in the wheelchair by then. We have seen him fell many times as he climbs up the plane stairs. Trump will win. There is no other candidate who can make the US work together than Trump. Even Elon tweeted Trump will win this time around.

Well I would not be too sure about him not being voted in just because of his age. He was already an old man when he got voted in the first time. Why would that mean it cannot happen a second time? Trumps reelection is a bit unstable because he would try to undo everything Biden has done in relation to the war of Russia and Ukraine. Most people might see that as "being in too deep" to turn around and walk back.

Elon has been tweeting nothing but idiocy, so I would not take his tweets seriously. Obviously not as a standard of measurement.
1303  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do you favor betting on spesific sport? on: May 13, 2023, 04:21:28 PM
I am just curious to know why people favor one Sport over another, when it comes to betting? Is there specific Sport that increase your win chance or do you bet on those Sport for other reasons?

I know most people will favor certain Sport, because they know more about the players or the teams and information is power, when it comes to betting... but some Sport are 50/50 when it comes to the outcome of the match. (One lucky punch or kick can make a underdog a champion)

Please share your thoughts...  Tongue

Personally I just like some sports better than others and that is my entire reason for betting on that sport instead of some other sport, that I do not like.

I think its just that some people feel more connected to one sport than another. A football fan is not really going to care about women's basketball, no matter how good or how much better the odds are. It just does not feel right, you know?

Also I think it may make people more nervous, betting on sports to which they do not know the rules or whose players they are not familiar with.

If gambling was only about the best odds, then people would just play dice all the time.
1304  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bingx Copytrading on: May 12, 2023, 06:54:05 PM
Hi, I am following only one trader on Bingx and I have set as margin $161 so that each position that is opened for me is $161 and only opened automatically one position with a margin of $40 (the trader opened two positions and I only opened one position).

Is there any way to open the position with the amount I specify or does bingx somehow limit that amount?

The Bitcoin trading discussion board will have people who are more competent and knowledgeable when it comes to trading. I am sure they can answer your Bitcoin trading questions and tell you about the best trading practices. So, you might want to move your post there instead: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=8.0

Also, I have never heard of Bingx but I would strongly advise against copy trading. It never ends well. You should trade only after doing your own research.

1305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can NFTs last forever? on: May 12, 2023, 06:45:05 PM
All of the NFTs you know and love today, have their data stored their on centralized servers (images, video, etc). What is only stored on the Blockchain is just the properties of the NFT itself. While you're basically the "owner" of the NFT, you could lose technically lose it if the centralized server hosting the content of the NFT goes down.

So, what's the point of investing in NFTs if they can disappear in an instant? Unless all of the content is stored on the Blockchain itself, I don't see how NFTs will be able to last forever. Are there already solutions in the works that I'm not aware of? Please enlighten me on this. Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley

NFT's would only make sense if the law, specifically the copyright laws included NFT's to be seen as legitimate ownership contracts. But no law in the world is enforcing or admitting the rights of NFT-owners to be owners of the actual artwork behind the NFT. So there is absolutely no point in owning an NFT other than to flaunt the fact that you threw your money away for something which has no value and only an inherent rarity as the standard of speculational value.

For some reason there exist just enough idiots in the world to still buy NFTs. Which may raise the question of if they will last forever. I hope not but maybe yes.
1306  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 12, 2023, 04:49:00 PM
So how's everyone enjoying "Sell in May and go away" so far?

Fun fun, amiright?

What? I thought it was "Buy in May and stay".

I was wondering why Bitcoin was having a sale. Oh well, more for me.
1307  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why was Ordinal NFTs created? on: May 12, 2023, 04:34:33 PM
~
Sorry, I don't think that makes sense. What should be the advantage of PoS when dealing with Ordinals? Ordinals even benefits miners, so it re-assures the current PoW model.

Just because the miners are benefiting does not mean this NFT/memecoin fad is good for Bitcoin. POS has nothing to do with ordinals but rather I am talking about POW being forced into a corner and people might start seeing the switch to POS as an easy option in order to decrease the congestion as well as the transaction fees (by upping the scalability of the blockchain.)

Take a look at what happened to Ethereum once the PoW started showing the weakness of congestion and ridiculously high transaction costs. That became the main argument for the switch to POS. But they sacrificed their decentralization for it. I am simply connecting the dots and seeing something similiar happening to Bitcoin, because of ordinals.

Sure, there might be a different solution, but nobody has proposed one yet. I just hope this is not what pushes Bitcoiners towards accepting POS.
1308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The fall of crypto influencers. on: May 12, 2023, 02:32:32 PM
It is way too easy to become a "crypto influencer". What they do to become famous is very easy and has been documented many times already. First, the rent out a lamborghini, then they rent out many expensives things, clothes, a large house, and so on... All that is left is to make a video with beautiful women and tell everyone how they made an amazing amount of money in a very short amount of time with nothing but crypto. And they are more than happy to let you in on the secret, for a fee.

It does trick the desperate and the greedy people but anyone with half a brain can see through their scam.

That is why I avoid following EVERY and ANY influencer. Its all fake and scripted.
1309  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots 101: Basics, Strategies, and Discussion (with poll) on: May 12, 2023, 01:05:08 PM
~snip~
Well, it should be like this, don't you think? Bonuses are there to make people "taste" the game, and then, if they like it, they must deposit to play more. Although, it's not exactly like that. Firstly, you can play in demo mode for free as much as you want. Secondly, there are exceptions. I myself won a withdrawable amount couple of times on various sites, starting with just bonus money.

Yeah, a bonus is simply to give a bit of a boost to a player.

If it was something were people actually could withdraw the whole amount without playing and putting some money in, then a lot of people would simply take the money out, making it not work for the casino at all.

The thing is that if people can do it, they will do it.

They will. Not all of them, but might be enough for a casino to go bankrupt. The algorithm for the whole process of a bonus program should be something that allows some gamblers to win big and withdraw, to spread the news, and, on the other hand, something that doesn't make the company to go over their promotional budget. It's good if the company is big enough to allow some unexpected expenses, but for a small company it can be a challenge.

All it takes is one attacker with different IP addresses and a simple bot script to automate the process of using dummy accounts to keep withdrawing bonuses until they have driven the casino to ruin. Although I doubt that would happen without any casino staff noticing something but it could happen over a short period of time before anyone can do anything.

The casino has to make sure their promotion system cannot be exploited. This is probably somewhat of a challenge for smaller/newer casinos that do not have the budget for security audits. But common sense alone should prevent them from implementing unnecessary rules like withdrawing bonuses without having to play with their own money first...
1310  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: sending bank statement for verification on: May 12, 2023, 12:18:34 PM
i registered at an online casino and my deposit was not arrived(in casiono) and i contact to their support and they said you need to wait for 10 business days for your refund.

10days are completed and i still didn't received my refund, and they told that "if you don't receive your refund in 10 days then you can contact us with your bank statement"

my question is, is it safe to share bank account statement for verification purposes?  the site is reputable, but in bank statement all my information are available. is it safe to share?

Was your deposit in crypto? If not, then this topic does not really belong on a Bitcoin forum.

Whether a casino is reputable or not should not be a subjective thing. You should tell us the name of the casino.

I have not heard of any casino asking for a bank account statement for verification purposes and that seems a bit strange, to be honest.

If you give a bad actor enough information, they could easily identity theft you and take out loans in your name, and do much much more damage than you would have thought possible. You should be really careful with personal information and giving away pictures of government documents, such as ID, Passports, and so on...

Where is the casino in question registered? Did you read the terms and conditions of the casino?
1311  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice when you are going a bit far in gaming and betting on: May 12, 2023, 12:07:45 AM
This is just the basics, but anyone should be aware of it:

Budget: set it BEFORE you start gambling and stick to it.
Have a break from time to time, it is important to let your brain stop and consider.
Avoid drugs / drink as much as possible, they will make you loose some control innevitably.
Seek help if you feel you are no longer in control. Make a phone call to a friend or go out and speak with someone.

Anything else anyone can think of? Like... read this post before gambling? Tongue

I totally agree with the part of pre-planning a budget before you start your gambling. That is a very responsible way to save yourself from losing all your money. Also, perhaps inviting a friend to hold your budget for you and ask him to not give you any of your money in the case that you should feel like you are starting to lose control. That might also be a smart precaution to take? Grin

Avoiding alcohol intake during gambling might take the fun out of gambling for some people. Its basically part of the entire gambling experience, is it not? Unless of course you have had a drinking problem in the past. If you had an addiction problem In that case it would be better to stay away anything which can be considered addictive. Gambling included.
1312  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another betting fraud in Brazil - part 2 on: May 11, 2023, 04:39:47 PM
That should be expect to happen in Brazil, where corruption is recognized as one of the main traits of the nation, besides the fact sportsbooks are insanely popular right now. If you watch any games on the television you will have an impression the championship is fully sponsored by bet houses, because there are so many of them everywhere! They are on the TV's propagandas, players' uniforms, field's ads, press conference's ads...

There are popular local celebrities and athletes promoting sportsbooks as well. It was just a matter of time until some wicked players started being recruited by scam schemes involving frauds on sports matches. Since they are greedy for money, and for some reason can't improve performance on the field, they appeal to cheatery and illegality. That is the final result: an industry you can't trust anymore...

Although in this particular case, the players themselves are heavily involved in the fraud, it just goes to show the intentional lack of regulations and laws. It all comes down to the politicians making this possible. I would not be surprised if the latest betting fraud in Brazil filled up some politicians pockets up to the brim. If they really wanted to fight this kind of corruption, they could easily do so. They would only have to look at other countries as an example. But I doubt it will ever happen. Too many bribes in the wrong hands.

Seems sad, really. Seeing as football is a national treasure for Brazil. You would think they would treat it with more honor and reverance... Roll Eyes

The fact that the article calls it soccer is laughable. I hate that word. I mean seriously, who call its soccer?
1313  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sports betting into the hands of Web3 users|can we design DEX for sports beting? on: May 11, 2023, 03:58:10 PM
Hello and welcome to the Bitcointalk forum! Hopefully you can achieve being the first real decentralized sports betting service. Although I am not sure how you will go about doing it.

Do you have a whitepaper or something which explains the technical parts a bit more in detail?

As I understand it, current betting services which claim to be "decentralized" are actually pseudo-centralized in nature and there are still centralized entities that can withhold or block winnings or funds in one way or another. The reason being that mostly regulation laws but also the fact that gambling is too complex to fully decentralize as a web3 service.

How are you planning to move around this problem?
1314  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why was Ordinal NFTs created? on: May 11, 2023, 03:18:47 PM
Our options seem to be running out and it seems that Ordinals will not go away, even if we were to restore the pre-taproot transaction size limit or introduce some filter method.

So can we assume the very goal of Ordinals is to be a coordinated attack on Bitcoin, to push Bitcoin out of the competition or, more likely, push Bitcoin towards a POS consensus? If the second hypothesis is true, then who would have the most to gain? Who would have the most control over Bitcoin?

When ETH became POS we saw three addresses that had almost half of all Ethereum. That was a very dangerous moment of decentralization for ETH. But could this decentralization happen to Bitcoin?

I think that no matter how dire the situation becomes, we should steer clear of POS. It feels like a trap that we are being cornered into.
1315  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Do you be in reincarnation? on: May 10, 2023, 11:54:53 PM
I personally do not see a need for reincarnation. I see life as a whole. Our minds separated from each other, giving us the mere illusion of individual consciousness. But what are we really? The universe observing itself. A singularity, expanding and dividing into infinite pieces and rearranging into strange patterns, yet still puzzle pieces which fit the same puzzle.

At the quantum level, our only differences are the quantifiable. No proton is different from another proton. No electron distinguishable from the other.

1317  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BRC-20 needs to be removed on: May 10, 2023, 07:20:35 PM
With this confidence and the innocence you have, I am sure they (the attacker) gave up on the fees on the Ethereum Network that spiralled past $100 even when they had hundreds of thousands of Dollars in their pockets after selling scam coins to gullible traders.  Grin

Our hope is the congestion stops when the hype dies down, but let say it continues for 2–3 years like it happened in another network. What next?
How many of us do you think will start using alternative networks in order to make transactions?

Only time can tell how long that is going to take or how long we will have to keep enduring high fees. But I believe the attack to be unsustainable. There is a limit to the number of idiots who buy NFTs/scamcoins. If that makes me naive, then so be it.

BRC-20 is a useless parasitic existence which needs to definitely be removed. If that means rolling back Taproot, then I am all for it. Althought personally I doubt that the attacks will be a long term thing. Hopefully this is just a dumb fad which will calm down and even perhaps die out, over time.

I would not call it a "fatal flaw which can bring an end to Bitcoin". Its rather an irritating thing which can and will be carved out of the Bitcoin chain "ecosystem".

1318  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Referral bonuses are waste of time on: May 10, 2023, 05:30:52 PM
I tried not to write in this thread. But I can't stop myself from writing some words!

This is a bullshit topic. What did we get from this topic? Do we need to discuss whether a referral bonus is a waste? Everyone is free to work for their referral. Big companies are working with just Referral income. What is the point of this thread? The title triggered a lot of people, and we saw useless signature spam replies. The discussion is still going. What new answers have we got? Pretty much the same responses from everyone. I suggest OP lock this thread.
The dude stated his mind and what he thinks about referral bonuses, don't call it bullshit, because when ever you create a thread, you do So on the emphasis of what you think concerning the topic you are or want to discuss, and can I tell you something?, not everyone will like your topic or subject of discussion, but that does not really mean  it's bullshit.

Would have been better if you held yourself from writing here, the report button is there, would have been better if you used it rather than say what you say here, I am a believer of, "if you have nothing good to say or contribute to someone else's efforts, ignore and keep quiet".

By the way, if you think comments from other users are useless signature spam replies, what exactly do you think yours is? It's an honest question.

Ironically, his entire rant about "useless signature spam replies" is a useless signature spam reply in itself. So I am guessing he had nothing to add to the discussion so he decided to write something unhelpful and toxic. Whether his bounty manager thinks that that is a pay-worthy post is questionable...

Just because not everyone is a genius who knows how to maximize their profits with referral bonuses does not mean that the entire topic is not worth talking about in the first place...

I think referrals are important to talk about. The discussion could help someone with a low income earn more money. Or they could learn something new. Its obviously not a waste of time, as the previous poster claims... Roll Eyes
1319  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BRC-20 needs to be removed on: May 10, 2023, 02:43:57 PM
Bitcoin was designed as a method for peer-to-peer exchanges (see quote from Satoshi in sig). It was not originally intended to support tokens or smart contracts.

Bitcoin has essentially become digital gold. These changes are breaking the network and eroding the years of trust that Bitcoin has created. This is what gives it value.

Bitcoin will never offer the transactions per second to support these type of transactions. There are many altcoins that do a better job of providing this utility. Let them do that.

The change to allow BRC-20 in Taproot needs to be rolled back. This is a dangerous, fatal flaw to the network that could be used to bring an end to Bitcoin.

What are your thoughts? Should BRC-20 be removed? What is the best way to do this?

I doubt there is any need for concern over the whole BRC-20 debacle. The truth is that its not sustainable for the attacker, while profitable for the miners and irritating for the Bitcoiners making transactions.

In the worst case scenario, a soft fork will cut out the entire system but at the same time who is to say it will not return under a different disguise?

I am not worried. The only reason why money launderers and scammers are so interested in it right now is because its heavily unregulated. Its still a separated market, though. And without a means of trade such as a centralized exchange, there is no point to it, making BRC20 incredibly centralized. Once its declared a security, which it most likely will be, nobody will want to touch it.
1320  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you prefer Original Slots or slots from 3rd party Slot providers? on: May 09, 2023, 09:14:39 PM
This goes out to all the Slot players out there.....

A lot of casinos have their own original Slots that are unique to their casino, most of these consist of a variation of old games with a personal twist from that casino. (Example : Crash - Different themes like planes / stock market / athlete running etc..)

Then you get 3rd party Slot providers like Pragmatic / Hacksaw Gaming etc.. that provides Slot games to casinos.

My question is this, which one of the two do you prefer and why do you like it more than the other. (Original vs 3rd Party Slots)

Let's discuss ....  Wink

I do not really think about third party slot providers when I play.

While I play only on trusted casinos, that I can believe would not lie about their slot audits or the fair game play, but I have honestly never been able to detect which slot games are from a third party provider and which is an original slot game by the casino itself. To me, its enough that the casino is reputably fair and secure.

I guess the only telltale sign could be that the same slot game is available on other online gambling casino platforms?

You could try to email/message the casino itself and ask about which slot games are original and which are not. I am sure they would tell you.
