2061  Other / Archival / Re: I don't want to buy cheap bitcoins, I want to buy expensive ones on: November 09, 2022, 01:11:44 AM
Sad but true. When the price is down, few people are interested in buying bitcoins. But in a hype and with high prices, people suddenly become interested in bitcoin and buy him dearly.  Cry

I've experienced this again and again in the last few years in my circle of acquaintances and it hasn't changed to this day. I wonder when will people finally learn it?  Undecided

I think it has something to do with human psychology. Whenever something drops in value suddenly, there is a panic that its become a dangerous investment. This is very understandable. I mean look at what happened to LUNA. Anyone who got out in time was lucky to have done so. So in such cases, being suspicious of the dump was the right thing to do. But then again the crash was due to the shitcoin itself that collapsed. Not because of short term FUD.

But when it comes to Bitcoin FUD based dips (like right now with the entire FTX and seized 50k Bitcoin drama), we have learned not to sell on such news because in the long run, it does not affect the value of Bitcoin at all. Its still going up. So every FUD dip should be seen as a discount price.
2062  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino games plebs like us must play on: November 09, 2022, 12:00:32 AM

I have gone through your post. I agree that playing with the lowest house edge available is the best technique for winning (Especially for new users). But I have observed from my experience with the gambling sites that BlackJack and Craps aren't very popular among the users. So as part of your positive advice, I would also like to say that your luck also matters to winning the gambling games.
Different games cater to different audiences, blackjack is a game in which the house edge can be lowered to very small levels if you know how to play it correctly, and you could even get an edge at some point during your time playing the game, but it requires to play in a certain way and to keep track of every single card which has been dealt, and not only many people cannot do this such a thing goes against their idea of fun, so they are very reticent to do something like this.

Honestly I prefer Blackjack. Not because I have some strategy or even because it somehow has a lower house edge but just because its a simpler game. I find that simpler games are just more appealing when betting. I do not want to have to think of strategies or plan my moves in advance or anything because when it comes down to it, all games have house edge otherwise the casinos would not be making money. Try as hard as you like but the most you can do with strategies is maybe lower the probability of you losing money by a bit. Id rather have fun than stress myself out with algorithms and strategies.
2063  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A lottery's defense to not paying a huge winning. on: November 08, 2022, 08:19:04 PM
I came across a story on this thread about a lottery company refusing to make payments to a player who legally played a game with about $690 and won over $160,000 but was denied payment on the grounds that his winning data has been wiped out of their system.
Below is the link to the original story.
https://punchng.com/lagos-lottery-company-arraigned-for-refusing-n72m-win/
Link to the topic
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5418121.msg61175078#msg61175078.

I just came across another news, where the lottery company, has now come to a defense of its action for not paying the winner his winnings with claims that winner was involved in irregularities. And that around 2019 he won a huge sum of money from them and now another winner from same outlet which was suspicious to them.
https://leadership.ng/lagos-lottery-coy-says-claimant-of-n72-2m-win-engaged-in-irregularities/

The question is ?
What do you really think of the lottery company and is there any chance for them to winning the case and not paying the winner?

In my experience there are many gambling casinos/lottery companies that think that they can withhold a persons winnings on any grounds even if the reasons are complete baloney. Even if they are acting against the law, the simply have the audacity to hope that the winner simply will not sue/report them or that they make it so difficult that the winner basically gives up.

Don't get me wrong, reputable gambling companies do not usually do this. Its always some weird shady off-brand casinos that go about this kind of tactic to steal money from their players.

Not sure about these "irregularities" they claim but if they cannot provide solid evidence that the winner did something wrong then obviously they are trying to stall for time or hope that the winner just gives up.

While I would definitely agree that their response to you in their email is extremely rude and very unprofessional, you seem to not be following their TOS and therefore have kind of done all of this to yourself. Now, I am trying my best not to judge, so if you have actual evidence that they are "scamming" then you should post said evidence in the scam accusation subforum on this site and not on the gambling subforum. Because to me it seems you have nothing except a rude email to show us that that particular online gambling casino has wronged you.

If they did not IP ban you and if they were legally required to do so, (after you have stated you wish for an IP ban because of your gambling problem) then they might indeed be in the wrong and in that case you should see what you can do about reporting them.

2069  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Losing $350,000 because of a friend, what would you do? on: November 07, 2022, 05:24:49 PM
He particularly chose Black 15 for $10K on roulette which he could have won $350,000 but a friend took the $10K and replace a safer bet. I know this is likely not to happen in real life. But let's say it did. What would you do?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fT4GcK6Dpkk
I was trying to look for Kevin Hart movies on Netflix so I found one. Turns out one scene is an unsatisfying win.

Well as frustrating as it sounds, thats not losing $350 000 USD. Thats missing out on the opportunity on winning 350k. Which is nowhere as bad as losing 350k, if you were to ask me. Also as much as I enjoy Kevin Harts comedy, I would not quote him on his realism. Obviously this is a very unrealistic scenario because as some posters have already mentioned, nobody can take your chips. They do not allow that. And the bet was already locked in as soon as the wheel started spinning (although it may have been locked in earlier but I am not familiar with the technicalities).

Obviously they make movie gambling unrealistic to make it seem more attractive and/or exciting to the viewer. Roll Eyes

2071  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will digital dollar be a threat to bitcoin? on: November 07, 2022, 11:44:49 AM

The digital dollar is not even a threat to the paper dollar. If anything the paper dollar has less disadvantages and more advantages than the digital fiat version. I really hope all these digital government control traps are going to crash and burn at the moment of introduction. The only reason they exist is to take away more freedom from the people and put everyone under a bigger surveillance system. But since Bitcoin has come into existence, I am not worried.

they're made to stop the production and use of cash.

Thats really the reason why its not a threat to the fiat system of today. Because nobody is planning on making paper money illegal. If anything, they will have to slowly phase it out but not make it "illegal". The corrupt politicians have waay too much laundered cash in their mattresses to be advocating for wiping it all out in a day or two. So obviously if digital fiat is going to make it, it will have to show its a better version of the paper fiat. And its not. People will not accept the government denying them their cold hard cash. We are not in China and we will not take that lying down. The WEF knows this.
2072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will digital dollar be a threat to bitcoin? on: November 06, 2022, 06:56:06 PM
I came across this on the news today, and I wonder if this will be a challenge to the growth of crypto in the united states with the government beginning to consider the digital dollar.
Quote
The White House is particularly targeting the proof-of-work transaction-validation process used by many blockchains, including bitcoin. This mechanism consumes huge amounts of energy because it requires a lot of computing power.

And with everything else, the administration is pushing for a digital dollar, a kind of digital twin of the dollar, at a time when China has taken a step ahead on this issue

Do you think with the level of civilization in the united states, that the digital dollar will be successful?

Hell, any cryptocurrency is better than fiat, to be honest.

Worst case scenario we will have to openly rebel against the government on the streets if they oppress us to the point of making any crypto ownership illegal/difficult.
2073  Economy / Gambling / Re: I am opening a crypto casino / sportsbook what should we add? on: November 06, 2022, 05:19:38 PM
Hi well we are in the process of opening a crypto casino and sportsbook we hope is ready in one month

Some features of our casino / sportsbook:
1) 100% anonymous we are never going to ask you for any personal info or KYC BS it doesn't matter the amount
2) we are also going to have a live casino
3) we are going to accept privacy coins like XMR
4) You can place bets over the phone 24/7
5) Is going to be available worldwide

what else should we add?

Let us know Smiley

1. Ok, I find it noble that you do not wish to demand/store personal info but your casino being 100% anonymous not only sounds shady but it would actually discourage me from depositing my funds on your platform.

2. 24/7 live? Or just live sometimes? Also what exactly do you mean by live casino?

3. Thats great. XMR is a great altcoin for privacy. Although that might become an issue if there are problems with the deposits and the users cannot definitively prove its their XMR.

4. Why would anyone want to bet over the phone? Sounds like a system that can easily be abused by malicious hackers.

5. You might get into trouble with foreign regulators if your casino proves not to be 100% anonymous.

OK Guys,

Not sure why I feel the desire to tell you guys (and girl) this, I guess after lurking daily for about 18 months, I've tricked my psychie into actually thinking of some of you as friends.

Anyway, after consistently DCA'ing every week for 75+ weeks, I am officially past the "one in 100M" point. Unfortunately, in mid September I became literally one. My beautiful wife, whom I have adored for the last 22 years packed up her basic necessities and announced that we were getting a divorce. No fights, no affairs, no logical explanation. She had already set up a PO Box, a new bank account, and had a little less than ½ of the available funds transferred a couple hours before informing me. As of that morning I was 100% certain that we were in for the long haul, till death did us part. As of that evening I was a broken mess wondering why I was still breathing. I came to the grim resolution that she had not killed me (physically) because she didn't want to live with the guilt. And therefore, because I love her so much, I can't just die and force her to live with it anyway.

I'm broken. But I still got my Bitcoin and I am in the green... so that's nice... I guess.

Stay strong. Do not let this become something that hangs over you for a long time. Rather think of it as a beginning to a new life. Everything will be a bit out of control for a while but things will pick up again!
2075  Other / Archival / Re: Most investors think regulation is a good thing on: November 04, 2022, 10:20:09 PM
Most investors might think that regulation is a good thing but they have no idea how to regulate Bitcoin or even the fact that Bitcoin cannot be regulated. Either they mean regulate the end-points of Bitcoin transactions like vendors and shops that accept Bitcoin as payment or regulate centralized exchanges where one can buy Bitcoin. Never underestimate the stupidity of investors, no matter how much money they have.

That is why they are not the ones tasked with regulating Bitcoin.  Grin  It is the government's task since they have the authority over things on their jurisdiction.

As far as we Bitcoiners are concerned, there is no need for panic. Bitcoin has been out of the hands of the government since its first mining. And that will not change no matter how loud the regulators get. Grin

The blockchain network of Bitcoin may be untouched by the government but the third-party company that wanted to take advantage of the trending Bitcoin can be regulated.  And these third-party companies are mostly the ones responsible for Bitcoin promulgation.

That's true. In modern business practices the centralized location and ownership factor remains extremely regulateable
(If that is even a word...). But I am mainly focused on the future of decentralization and the new markets and technologies which the future will bring us. At that point, regulation will become mostly redundant.
2076  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Manny Pacquiao vs. DK Yoo on: November 04, 2022, 01:52:54 PM
^^ For sure, Manny will find a lot of loopholes that he can exploited against DK Yoo. And that's what Manny is going to do, make his miss and then counter and if he ever gets tired then Manny might go easy or go for a quick knock out win.

However, since this is just a exhibition match, and it seems that Manny is training lightly and he is doing it with Jinky Pacquiao, Lol. And yes, the proceed will go for a good cause in the Philippines (not sure about Ukraine, this is the first time that I hear it). But what excites us is that we can see Manny again in the ring even if this is just for fun.

Yeah just seeing him back inside the ring will difinitely exite the fans, enough for them to support and buy tickets. Yoo's fighting capabilities if compared to Pacquiao is way far but again, it's the audiences that he have from his youtube and other social media accounts that counts in this fight. If most of it will be converted to a views and ticket sales then this exhibtion will collect huge chuncks of money and both figthers will be able to fulfill the desire of donating the money to thier chosen charities.

Quote
Obviously Manny is going to show him what a real fight looks like.
Hopefully he will not heavily injure  DK Yoo.

Manny is not going to show that what real fight looks like. First of all, because this is an exhibition fight. Second - what is a real fight? Fight till one of the opponents surrender or dies? So far Manny has been noticed in amateur and professional boxing fights Cheesy

Do you know that Manny Pacquiao has a YouTube channel with almost 870k subscribers. His fight against DK Yoo is just a collaboration with other YouTube blogger Cheesy

I think that DK Yoo will practice few combos, few strikes and have a strong believe, that Manny will stand still, like DK Yoo opponents in videos, and he will show that one strike he has mastered. Like one super speed punch that will throw Manny into ropes. But in reality, he will be shocked and knocked down (and the fight will be stopped) when Manny turns his "speed" switch into "on" position.

We don't really know what's real or not these days because of these collabs of YouTubers, we cannot even tell if they're telling the truth or not or if it's scripted. That's why in this fight, I don't have any high hopes that Pacquiao will show DK Yoo what boxing is because this is just an exhibition fight and in the end of the day, both of them will smiling because they garnered Millions again, but this time is okay because the proceeds will go for the charity.

Same with how I assess this exhibition, at the end of the day both will simply give the smile to all the fans that will support the intentions of this fight. Charity works and good paycheck from the promoter and advertisers.

Manny Pacquiao has been known in the past for being a very charitable person so I don't doubt that at least his proceeds will go to a good cause. As far as DK Too is concerned, I would think the media attention is his main goal, since he is an influencer more than anything else. Exhibition match or not, this is not going to be a fight where DK looks good...

this is a good topic [Gambling house responisbilty to protect people data] and it should be mandatory for gambling houses to keep user privacy safe but there is something interesting that I saw in a tweet;

source tweet

The man's reasoning is reasonable, but in my personal opinion this is an irresponsible act, he should as a husband, be honest with his wife or children and even if they turn into lazy, he just needs to educate them hard.

what do you think, is the man's action right or if you experience it (win a big jackpot) will you do as the man did or even be honest with your victory to your family??

It sounds like to me that he is just making excuses for avoiding taking care of his family and just does not want to make himself look bad in front of the public. He is a scumbag .

I really hope his family can get some of that money and find a better husband/father who will actually care and look after them as a man should. They say money is the root of all evil but I am willing to bet that this guy was never really a "family man" but rather an opportunistic leech who was probably disliked before he had wealth.

Some people tend to show their true character whenever they come into big amounts of money. Maybe because they think it makes them invincible against societal pressure or something?

2079  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to crypto exchanges in the future? on: November 03, 2022, 11:01:56 AM
People tend to use centralized crypto exchanges only for one reason:  convenience.

Its easier to use a platform where you can exchange your fiat for crypto and then hold that crypto on their third party wallet, even though everyone here would recommend you never do that. And its easier to trade your crypto for other crypto on said third party platform.

Its just the way people are. Lazy.

You could easily do the same but in more complicated ways like via P2P and decentralized exchanges. But again, laziness or ignorance wins out in newbies.
2080  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do online casinos disadvantage some locations from winning big on: November 03, 2022, 10:39:50 AM
You know how casinos have set certain slots to only pay a certain amount to a winner, it it also possible that casinos are using an algorithm to limit how much it can payout for players coming from certain locations to avoid being dragged into legal disputes if a player is paid big money and the local authorities want to know the source and the alike?

Well there are definitely some online gambling casinos which tend to act on bad faith and follow some rather shady/bad business practices. That much is true. Although the better known casinos do not do this.

But when it comes to those smaller, less known casinos who don't know how to run a good business, they will usually find any reason they can to stall or avoid paying their players for whatever reason they can find. Although as far as locations go, you could just use a VPN to hide your location. So I am not sure how reliable the data is on that. I do not doubt that they find devious ways to swindle players out of money.

But again, this goes for the bad casinos. The bigger, well known ones do not do this.
