2081  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you trust a gambler with your money/savings? on: June 23, 2022, 10:04:37 PM
Really hard to answer, but I heard horror stories too just like what the OP has describe. Well if he knows that his friend is into gambling, maybe he wouldn't trust him. So I guess for us we really need to be very careful about who put our businesses and money and rely them to manage it for us. Not just for gamblers, but for everyone because you really don't know, maybe if they see that the business is growing, they might be tempted to steal.
2082  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Mark Magsayo vs Rey Vargas WBC Featherweight Title (July 9) on: June 23, 2022, 09:42:30 PM
^ It's either someone will whisper to them that they are the underdog or his team are into social media (most likely) and they will find it out sooner or later. But it shouldn't matter though, Magsayo should focus on the fight itself and not what analyst or bettors are feeling. Just accept if he will be the underdog, he has the belt to proved that he is a champion anyways. The fight is like a couple of weeks from now and hopefully Magsayo should just peak in time and not overtrain in this fight. That's the only thing that might be a factor for him, maybe he will overtrain because he want to give us fans a good fight.

Yeah, but does it really matter if he is listed as underdog or if his team knows about it? He might probably just smile if the odds is out by now or the day prior to the fight. What is important is that he come to fight and beat Vargas by whatever means. Of course we would like for him to score a knock out, but a decision win is acceptable as well.

Nah! That won't really matter and as if they care enough if they are listed as favorite or underdog. Their performance won't be based on that listing just like being listed as a favorite won't guarantee one's victory. Both boxers will fight for their own legacy as they are both undefeated but Magsayo should definitely try to win this fight as he's the one who can't afford to lose rather than the challenger.

Yes, there are a lot of upsets in boxing, and Mark if ever be the underdog, will be a good one as what we have discussed previously. And I also didn't see any pressure coming for him, he just need to go and fight hard and hopefully their training and work will payoff if he will score that knock out. Vargas is undefeated  and has the experience, but it doesn't mean that Mark can't take him out.

Some major moves, Portland acquire Grant from the Pistons.

Quote
The Portland Trail Blazers are acquiring Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant for a protected 2025 first-round pick and additional draft assets, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/34132481/detroit-pistons-trading-forward-jerami-grant-portland-trail-blazers-2025-1st-round-pick-sources-say

I think it's a win win for both teams, Blazers are on a rebuilding phase and need someone like Grant to help Dame next season.

While Grant was not given enough time when he was in Detroit because they have been laden with players like him at the same spot.
I still can't forget his contributions when he was still in the Denver Nuggets last bubble. He is like the 3rd option of the team at that time when it comes to defense.
It's a bit unfortunate that we didn't see him play that much when he was still in Detroit.

Now seeing the current roster of Portland, it looks like he will be given more time there. Lillard now has a partner at least offensively though Grant isn't the same as McCollum who is very good offensively. Let's see but the Blazers won this trade I think.

Yeah, Grant is a good catch for Portland, maybe this is the last run that they have with Dame to make into the finals in the West but not sure if their current roster is enough.

They need another one or some role players that can fill the gap when the starters are resting. But there could be more players in the field that they can get before the start of the next season.
2084  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your bitcoin ATL prediction before next halving on: June 23, 2022, 09:36:15 AM
Bitcoin prices are currently dropping and the halving seems to have gone unnoticed, maybe there are few bitcoin mining so what is happening with bitcoin right now is due to external factors such as inflation, reduced stock for miners of course will have a big impact on transaction fees which will be high and this is what makes it difficult for us to develop bitcoin.

Bitcoin halving? still very far mate.

For me I voted $10k, we never thought that we will not reach the previous all time high and yet we went that low and even lower at $17,500 (current ATL). And what's scary is that we are still in the middle of the year, so there's a lot of possibility that the price will still go down and we haven't reach the bottom yet. So $10k for me, worst scenario, that could be -80%++ and that could be a record too if we reach that price level.
2085  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 22, 2022, 10:46:06 PM
Rumors of Bradley Beal declining his $36.4 million Wizard's contract option. Money wise he should take the money but if he wants a real shot at the championships then he can reject it and look for better teams. But maybe another decent team will offer him a good amount of money for a longer.
I guess these keys players like him are starting to realize that it's not just all about the contract but also getting in a team that has a caliber to take the ring.

Hell yeah, this is a big money and it's already a good amount for the contract that he wants to sign. But I guess that offer will remain there until he finally accepts it or find a better deal from the other teams with good teammates.

Right and Beal going to play with others to build a 'super team' (although not a sure recipe to become a champion). He need help in Washington though, I think him and Westbrook that time looks solid as they went to the playoffs, but we already know what happened next. And so you can't blame him if he doesn't want to play again with Washington because of the players surrounding him.
2086  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Rematch - JOSHUA vs USYK II (updated thread) on: June 22, 2022, 10:05:14 PM
^^ I don't think that Usyk will underestimate him in their rematch. But the war in his motherland would have some effect on him psychologically. But it could be a good or bad thing, good if he is going to be extra motivated although his opponent is not Russian, or bad if the background of the war will be too much for him. I think to defeat a technical fighter, you need to have a good timing.
2087  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: June 22, 2022, 09:33:18 PM
Wimbledon will start next week. I've looked at some stats from the tournaments over the past few weeks, but can't really come to a conclusion as to who the top favorite is. Medvedev wins many matches, but in Rosmalen he was knocked off the track by the then number 200 in the world. He even trailed 5-0 in the 2nd set and it was almost 6-0. Now I think he is already in the semi-finals. Nobody knows what Djokovic is doing it seems, haha.

It will still be Djokovic as the top favorite for this Wimbledon, followed by Alcaraz and Nadal. But we should expect some upsets a long the way. Maybe Medvedev can be good as the quarterfinals.

Hurkacz game style has been put into notice, so if you are looking for a good underdog, he should be a good one. Tsitsipas is more on a clay court player, so not expecting him to roll in this tournament.
2088  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bear Market Opportunities - Forget "When Lambo" on: June 22, 2022, 09:10:43 PM
I guess those "When Lambo" group knows how to play in the market already, sure they disappear, but they are having a good laugh and take advantage of those noobs selling right now as they are probably fattening their wallet again and then come out in the next bull run. Those are the smart one, while some are still tinkering and admiring this whale. But they didn't see that the accumulation phase is in the bear market where majority of us does not want to see.
2089  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 20, 2022, 06:15:52 AM
Maybe Beterbiev travelling to England to defend his 3 belts against their own hero Anthony Yarde is financially big. But I like Artur Beterbiev to pressure and convince Arum/ESPN to let him unify with the last remaining belt held by Dmitry Bivol. Beterbiev better not waste his time against these beltless contenders if he wants to leave a legacy in the Hall of Fame. Or maybe he can fight the beatable WBC cruiserweight champion Ilunga Makabu. A victory would make Beterbiev a 2 division champion and might be enough to enter the Hall of Fame.

Or is Arum (ESPN) scared that his aging champion might lose to a technical fighter like Bivol?

I read that Beterviev will be defending his belt against Yarde. And this could be the 'safest' route for Arthur, or shall we shall Bob Arum. Although he mentioned that he is also interested on a Bivol match to unify, knowing Arum, he might not allow him to do that. And instead, have him face the mandatory challenger first and create more aura of invincibility of Beterviev so that hey can make a lot of money if ever they will decide and have a unification fight with Bivol.
2090  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season - Finals on: June 20, 2022, 03:44:14 AM
Kuminga is good but he does not play the Center position, they need a center who can defend the paint and we saw that even Looney is not enough to defend the bigs of their opponent. They need someone that is healthy and who can play defense consistently, I think that's their focus for the next season to come.

I have to disagree that Golden State Warriors are really eyeing a Big Man to enhance and improved their defensive phase. It's been several seasons already where they are always playing a small ball. Instead of covering what's lacking in their defense, they are destroying their opponents with a good field goal percentage.

That strategy is proven and effective since then. No need for them to fill the gap for a Center position. And besides, even with a small ball, it's not that they are totally not good in defense. There are several times here in the playoffs where they are able to limit their opponent's offensive phase.

Just for a recap, the Nuggets, Grizzlies, Mavericks, and Celtics are all good teams with a good FG % in the recent season but not a problem actually for the Warriors.
Warriors play small ball, generally speaking. Smaller players are quicker on rotations which is what GSW thrive on. Horford did have a really good game because of it, but with quick help and making sure he doesnt get 1v1, they covered each other pretty well. Made it hard for Celtics to isolate a player and get to the rim easier, as one would try to do against small ball.

Horford had a good series because he is shooting the ball outside, he is not taking advantage of his height. And yes the Warriors play small ball and they are quick, even their supposedly center, Draymond is small for his position. But look at how he pushes the phase that Horford or even Williams can't catch up with him. And then easy pass to Curry or Klay for a 3 in transition. And we also did see how they take advantage of Horford, just a simple screen and he has to guard Curry in which he can get past him because big Al is slow. Again another good looks or isolation play by Curry and penetration drive.
2091  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Notice that while BTC & ETH fall, Doge is Stable on: June 20, 2022, 03:18:51 AM
doge's trend more or less still follows the trend of bitcoin, but most of shitcoin usually has the tendency of going against the trend because massive manipulation is going.
You could find some meme coins that's having reached ATH even in the middle of bearish. But reaching ATH doesn't mean it gonna gives you nice return of investment, instead it could be very well incurring loss to your investment at the long run.

Exactly, every altcoin follows bitcoin price movement and they are even worst when it comes to bear market. Just look at the price of Doge now, -92% for it's all time high. So I'm still trying to grasp where the OP says that Doge is stable here.

There could be coins that will go up in bear market though, but it doesn't mean that they are strong or solid. Most likely they are just meme coins, being used by pumps to obviously, pump and dump it till they earn huge profits.
2092  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC back at 20K. Imagine who sold at 17.7K. on: June 20, 2022, 02:51:03 AM
Some people never learn. This is not the end of the world. BTC has the capacity to grow like 50% in 1 week so people should learn that every drama is temporarily in the crypto world. Poor naysayers. Poor Peter Schiff. Such unhappy people. All the gold still doesn't make them happy. Cheers to you all happy Bitcoiners Cool

I mean there should be no surprises, the price is going to recover after going that low at $17,500. Actually I didn't bother to look at the price, the last time is that the price is around $19k'ish and so it went down as low as $17k? But look at the price now, good bounce isn't it.

And that is the problem with inexperience investors, maybe they bought at $60k or even $30k. But doesn't have the mentally to hold and just simply panic before their portfolio is going down and they are nervous that it will be wipe out. And 24 - 48 hours later, around 8%-12% increased.
2093  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA Finals 2022 - Warriors vs Celtics. on: June 19, 2022, 10:37:52 PM
^^ I guess majority us are wrong in our finals prediction or even winning the championship. Yes, the Phoenix Suns is the favorite because of how they destroyed everyone and winning 60+ games. If I'm not mistaken, they are the only team to do so this season. But the Luka Magic destroyed their dreams, Doncic was just playing with them and we've seen the nobody can guard him from the Phoenix roster. And now GSW going for ring number 5 next year.
2094  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Ryan Garcia vs Javier Fortuna - July 19 on: June 19, 2022, 09:58:05 PM
...
This reminds me of the Garcia's previous fight against Emmanuel Tagoe who're experienced with 33 fight with only 1 lose, but after the fight... all we can see is Emmanuel Tagoe is just running away and avoid to punch Garcia. Even Tagoe is unknown fighter, but there's some replay of his old fights that show he can box. I'm sure they have an agreement to make easy win for Garcia and I think Fortuna will so same.

Garcia claiming his next fight will be against Tank, if this will come true and let's say Garcia win, then he's deserve it since Tank isn't a dumb fighter who only looking for money.

Might be mate but we can't know for sure Grin Just give Javier the benefit of the doubt as he's more of a professional fighter unlike Tagoe who's just a local boxer from his country and suddenly got exposure when he was cherry-picked to fight Oscar's Golden Boy as an interim. I agree with @YuginKadoya, Javier might be the boxer who could push the kid and bring him back on track, Garcia just needs a wake up call from his inactivity which Tagoe cannot give.

When he fought Tagoe, it was like a mismatch. So I don't know if Tagoe couldn't really fight Garcia in a toe-to-toe scenario or there was a prior arrangement. That for sure, we won't know. But with Javier, I hope he will give him a lesson. Much better if he can beat Garcia so Golden Boy promotions will see what they are grooming here. So yes, for me, Javier is not the same caliber with Tagoe. I am hoping he will give a much better fight inside the ring.
That was an arranged fight, we can really expect a mismatch for Tagoe and Garcia. But this fight with Javier, although to say that Javier gains higher winning expectation, yet for sure Garica won't let that easy as he also wants to prove something to the crowd. Likely, this fight won't disappoint us, it was indeed a match fight and only the best man win.  Anyways, I put my bet to Garcia...

We will have to see if Fortuna will have the balls to surprised us. Tagoe leading up to the fight was all talk, but he didn't do anything on the fight, so yes, it was an obvious cherry pick for Ryan as his comeback but his performance is bad because Tagoe doesn't want to fight, but hide and go on his bicycle.

Fortuna is coming from a lost, so maybe he will be extra motivated to get back at winning. So this might be a good fight for both of them, specially Garcia who will look for a signature knock out win.
2095  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: National Sports and Sports Betting on: June 19, 2022, 09:23:05 PM
I believed this is the norm though, I mean young boys growing up watching their national sports on tv and admiring athletes and dream that one day they can play it representing their countries in international games. So they follow the sports by heart, and when the time they realized that they can't make it, then maybe they will go into gambling as they know the sports very much and gamble.
2096  Economy / Speculation / Re: Was 17600$ was the bottom ? on: June 19, 2022, 09:03:16 PM
Yesterday the bitcoin price dumped to 17,600$. A lot of people are saying that the bottom would be 12,000$ or 15,000$. Some even think that 6000$ is on the cards. However, we have seen some recovery in the price and it is now above 19500$.

Maybe 17600$ was the bottom or do you think there is more dump in the coming days/weeks?

Yeah, I saw a lot of tweets saying to get your money out of BTC because it will collapse. Others predicting that we will see a continue dump to $15k to $12k.

But obviously, we've regained some grounds today as we go back to the support line of $20k.

So it's either this year, we will see some recovery to the upper $30k'ish, or collapse to $12k, as the bottom price.
2097  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 19, 2022, 11:43:49 AM
I think Bivol shouldn't fight with Beterbiev and choose to rematch with Canelo first, if he win then he can fight with Beterbiev, if not Canelo will fight with Beterbiev. However it's too quick for Canelo to fight with Beterbiev if he won against Bivol.

I think Canelo had no business in the light heavyweight anymore, I mean it would be dangerous for him if he pursue his dream of dominating this division after what we witnessed on how King Arthur demolished Joe Smith easily.

Smith's mistake was standing toe-to-toe with the heavy-handed Beterbiev, he should have avoided that early onslaught if he opted to use his footwork and tired-up Beterbiev in the later rounds. Anyways, congrats to those who bet on the under 6.5.

BTW, Beterbiev is 37 years old, we may see him retire with an immaculate record with a perfect KO ratio, what do you think?

That's what he think though, Bivol might be the easier to fight between the light weight champion, but he is mistaken. Beterviev? Canelo might get stop for the first time in his career.

I don't think that Arthur will retire, sooner or later if h continue to fight then maybe he will be caught. And I'm thinking that Bivol might have a good chance to defeat him.
2098  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season - Finals on: June 18, 2022, 08:58:34 PM
I won't be surprised if there will be an actual trade for him. He's now going to get the attention after they've taken the championship this final.
We don't know what it will be I guess this is an early expectation and we just have to wait for a few more weeks or a month to see such news like this.
Yup, rumors will circulate and with his performance this last season, interest to bring him in will flow.

It will depend on the Warriors team owner if how they will handle his case, if Wiggins will be after for the money, Max contract
or a good long-term deal should be on the table.

Unless he will be wanting for more rings, staying inside Warriors and adjust to the amount the team can offer him, just like how
Tim Duncan did when he still playing for the Spurs. He adjusts to meet the salary cap.
I've seen those players that have taken the spotlight during the finals and they were traded afterward because their contract expired and as well as a good offer has come to get them.
That's inevitable and for these players to grow, they have to accept that since they've got not exclusive contract that wants them to retain with the team unless it will actually come from the GSW management itself that will offer them to stay.

He can do that as well, make a salary cut just to stay with the Warriors and chase another ring. Admit it or not, we are surprised on how good Wiggins is with the Warriors this season. When he was with the Wolves, he was very inconsistent and that what the Wolves trade him. But if he doesn't want to have a pay cut, then I guess there will be no choice for the Warriors management, they could let go of him and then look for other options or even developed their own players.
2099  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your NBA Champion this season? on: June 18, 2022, 08:29:41 PM
I looked at the OP's post, the odds of the Warriors that time was;

Quote
4- Warriors >8.50

Whoever won that kind of odds is a lucky better, congratulations to you, you also deserve to celebrate because you trusted the Warriors when they were not the favorite to win the championship.

That wasn't luck after all because the chance of Warriors getting into the playoffs and Finals was good. But at that time, it takes enough guts and courage to have that bet as it's still not that sure that they could really get in as the other teams in the league are also good. So, congratulations again OP for having a strong faith for the Golden State Warriors Wink

Getting that odds really says OP has faith on the Warriors. Now that the Warriors have already won the championship again, they just proved that even without Durant, they can still win a championship, and Curry is the better player than Durant, so he deserves all the praise in the NBA.

Warriors were just built perfectly, of course even without Durant. That 73-9 record was enough of an evidence that they're built differently.
Durant was a great addition, but even without him, the Warriors with Curry, Thompson, and Green is still great, and they have the ability to make their teammates become a better version of themselves. Jordan poole and Andrew Wiggins both became a perfect compliment for the Warrior veterans.

Yeah, but as far as we know, maybe Durant separated with some not so good memories with the Warriors, injuries and then him and Green having some 'words'. Nevertheless, it's done already, the Warriors has proven themselves to be a champion again without Durant. And there will be many critics regardless if Durant is still with them or not. And then developed Wiggins and Poole to build a solid team, as others put in, not just super team but a 'death squad'.
2100  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Mark Magsayo vs Rey Vargas WBC Featherweight Title (July 9) on: June 17, 2022, 09:33:59 PM
Nevertheless, Vargas is first on his list being a defending champion in this weight class.

It's good that Vargas will be Magsayo's first match since being a champion because the former is really a big deal.

Magsayo as a champion should just take challenges from those who are on the top list of possible challengers to give him a good experience.

Surely, Magsayo is doing his best on preparations and maybe he's so excited now to defend his title for the first time as a champion.

I agree, he is indeed lucky to get a fight against Rey Vargas on his first time defending a belt. Vargas will make him more knowledgeable in the ring because Vargas has more experience than Magsayo, and that's what he should look into because he should get an experience by a win and not by a defeat because it's literally too early for him to be defeated when this is his first time defending as a champion.

Well in an eventual fight against Magsayo and Vargas do you think Vargas will have the upper hand? I know that in boxing experience is an added value that is excellent, but Magsayo is already being compared to Pacquiao and that is something very big considering that Pacquiao is a legend, however the style of both fighters is different, or at least I see it like this, Magsayo in most of the times is like more explosive, he has energetic outbursts that if he does not remove himself quickly the opponent can give him a good knockout, if this happens with Vargas I think many probabilities can fall and the statistics that are always handled don't you think?

This is still going to be a very close fight in my book. And as we have talk few pages back, maybe Vargas will be the betting favorite, but it doesn't take anything away from Magsayo because he is a great champion as well.

Maybe the experience will be the difference, or the punching power, or how they execute the game plan and then adjust in the game. There are so many factors that might play and different scenarios that can happen that it's hard to see who will win.
