1921  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 08, 2022, 03:49:53 AM
Going back to Cavaliers? Nah, I don't think so.  Grin  Cavaliers were absolutely a special team for Lebron. But after he left the team the supporters didn't react very nice to that. I'm not expecting him to go back there from now on to be honest. If he suddenly decides to leave the team then I would like to watch him at one of the biggest candidates of the championship. Because Lebron is still very ambitious and he wants to be the champion still. Lakers can't give this as long as they don't make the necessary changes.

Yeah, I remember that some Cavs fans reacted quite inadequately when LeBron decided to leave the Cavs for the first time, and some of those fans even demonstratively burned LeBron's jerseys. Whatever it was, I also doubt that LeBron has any plans to return to the Cavs. It just doesn't make much sense for him because he's already won the title for the Cavs.

Well he promised to return to the Cavs after his first departure, and he made sure of his promises, came back and win a ring with them. But that's it, after that the goes to the Lakers and won another ring.

Anyone heard about this story though?

Quote
They're having a team chat before Game 4, thinking he's going to play against the Celtics. From what I'm told, Ben just left the chat. They asked him "Are you going to play?". Ben left the chat. Like he didn't even answer the question, just left the chat.

KD's like "This is what I signed up for? This is who I'm playing with?"

https://fadeawayworld.net/nba-media/kevin-durant-was-frustrated-with-ben-simmons-after-he-didnt-respond-and-left-nets-group-chat-after-being-asked-if-he-would-play-in-game-4-says-nba-insider

If this is true, then I speculate that KD doesn't want to play with Ben and his antics (but he did with Kyrie Irving saga).
1922  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Token question and ownership on: August 06, 2022, 10:58:45 PM
I am new to crypto and was hoping someone could help.

I understand that with stocks you are getting ownership and future cash flow of a public company, bonds your providing a loan and getting paid back with interest and real estate your getting rents and appreciation.

What are you getting with tokens like etherium, algorand, polkadot?  There are no cash flows, ownership stakes, or interest.  There are no earnings reports or how successful the software is.  If there is nothing backing these tokens, I fail to see what value they have?

It seems you need to dig deeper to cryptocurrency market as you keep comparing it to traditional market like stocks. In crypto market or at least in projects, there is no central authority, of course there is a developer like Vitalik for example with ETH. But they don't have control of the price and cash flows.

The only thing is that you will invest, buy ETH at a certain price, hold on it. And if the value goes up, then you can 'trade' it in a crypto exchange and that's where you get your profits.

Fiat is also not back up by anything.
1923  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 06, 2022, 10:29:27 PM
The source is saying that Lebron is likely to extend with Lakers for two more years soon. I have been wondering if he would leave the team if they don't make the changes he would like to be more successful. For example, they are still keeping Westbrook in the team which is not a thing that I like. But as long as Lebron doesn't get an offer from a much more favorable team it looks like he is staying.

By the way Lebron's main goal now is to play with his son as it is added in the source as well. He wants to play one season with his son and retire after that.

( The source : https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10044509-lebron-james-rumors-all-signs-point-toward-lakers-star-signing-contract-extension )

This was mentioned many times before in social media and sports news. Whoever takes Bronny in their team, Lebron will play in there. So if Lebron is willing to extend for two years in Lakers, it might be an indication that they might take Bronny when the time comes. Bronny plans to be eligible for 2024 NBA draft.

I also think that it is a good thing that he should end his career in LA. And if he can give them another championship, then maybe they can retire his jersey in LA as well. That could be a good way to end an stellar NBA career.

Hmm, maybe it's part of their discussions with Lakers GM and their new coach? James opting to stay with them as long as they are willing to go and pick Bronny in the draft pick as he will be eligible for the 2024 draft? And Lebron is not slowing down, he hasn't actually. Actually he age, he has taken care of his body, and admitted spending millions just to maintain it. And then we've seen him with Bronny and Bryce (almost same height when Lebron was his age). And guess where that workout is, it's on Lakers facility.
1924  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Macau's Casino Operation Continues Despite The Latest Outbreak on: August 06, 2022, 10:05:47 PM
If this is one of the biggest contribution to their economy I guess it might be hard to stop with it because for sure there's a following fallback is they have a low number of cases still they can manage this easily with of course some of the health protocols or make some limited number of person in the casino like making a schedule and if the government know how to prevent spreading like make a major lockdown so they can live on the same way still it is good for them

Let me correct if for you, 'it is the biggest contributor' to their economy. Majority of people from Macau is either working directly in the casino or at least have a indirect way of making a living with the casino itself that's why they can't just close their casino's otherwise everyone gets hungry as there will be no food in the table. So they take the risk of keeping it open. And now it seems their gamble has paid off, tourist and gamblers now can travel to Macau or anywhere in the world, no more lockdowns and the government itself did a superior job in controlling their Covid-19 cases.
1925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: August 06, 2022, 09:44:44 PM
Somehow it is unfortunate that Kyrgios behaves very unprofessionally very often. I think that comes at the expense of his level. Okay, he recently made it to a Wimbledon final, but someone with his talent should have won a Grand Slam tournament at least once. But that's in his personality. He used to be seen as one of the greatest talents and the potential number 1 in the world but I don't think that will happen anymore. I wonder if he will ever win a Grand Slam again. There are a lot of people who don't like him but he is loved by the vast majority of the public because he always entertains the crowd during the matches.

Right, we have debated that here in this thread, there are a lot of what if on Nick. He has the talent indeed, but he wasted so many opportunities and could have won at least 1 Grand Slam already if not for his attitude inside and outside of the court.

Nevertheless that is his personality, maybe it is true that he doesn't care about this career. Or maybe it is now that he realized as he mature that he has to at least accept the fact that winning is achievable and that he can be a great player.
1926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rise of Streamers in Online Gambling on: August 05, 2022, 10:30:16 PM
I will agree though, specially those streamers that shows very huge win, in the millions of dollars that maybe some will go and try it for themselves and see how their luck will be.

On the other hand this streamers though could be paid so obviously, the results might be rigged so that those watching are going to be attracted. So it's a win-win for this streamers and the casinos or games that they are promoting.
Most likely, streamers are there to promote certain casino as it’s one effective way to attract new and old players to play. If they advertise such big wins made by some lucky players, that will eventually attract players to gamble and spend more money, so it’s certainly a win win scenario for the casino itself. Unless if the streamer is only paid to rigged results, I guess that won’t remain effective in the long run.

Streamers can't rigged the results themselves, the casino itself will have to be involved to be able to pull that one off. But most likely as others have said, they are playing with fake money, so that they can continue to play for hours and stream it and mentioned the casino's name as a promotions. And sooner or later with that fake money, he or she might be lucky and hit the bonus and probably hit a massive win or close to a jackpot.
1927  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin scenario crashing to $20.000 - $23.000 on: August 05, 2022, 10:10:18 PM
Currently the price of bitcoin is experiencing a slight increase in price, where the price has returned to touch $23k after a few months ago the price of bitcoin fell to touch the level of $17k which resulted in the price of bitcoin experiencing sideways. Therefore, let's see if the current price still has the potential to bounce down like before, or whether it manages to rise up. Hopefully the market recovery will return as expected.
Bitcoin is still under $30k in my opinion, it's still very risky to be under $20k again, because some time ago Bitcoin also reached $18k,
of course this is a sign that the price is still very weak, especially now that the war between China and Taiwan is heating up,
and interest rates are going up, yes the market is volatile and better wait.

What do you mean risky? if you are going to purchase when the price goes under $20k, invest and hold then where is the risk there? bitcoin is on the top of the food chain because of supply and demand. And when we hit the halving in the next 2 years and as the supply is dwindling there could be demand in the future. And right after the halving we may have to experience bull run again. So the risk that we are taking today will be worth. Yes, there are a lot of things going around the world that can affect the price, it would hit global trades and the world economy, and not just bitcoin market that will be severely impacted by other traditional financial markets.
1928  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: August 05, 2022, 09:48:53 PM
Nick is leading Opelka, 7-6, 2-1 before the match has been suspended. Not the only one though, 2 other matches as well because of the lightning.

Kyrgios won the match against Paul. He was very focused in this match as well. Just like last year he wants to get to the final in Washington again. If he keeps playing like this, I think it is realistic. The first set was decided in a tiebreak as predicted from Kemarit. I will be curious to see when it starts again and if Kyrgios are still focused.
Kyrgios really picked up his form since Wimbledon and looks a lot more serious then before. If he continues to dominate like this against his opponents i dont see anyone stopping him. For me he is the main favorite to win Washington this year

Yea he seems to have carried his performance from Wimbledon. I havent seen
any of his matches or even the highlights. Has he been carrying on with his complaining
and giving out as well?

Up next for him is Tiafoe in the quarter finals, could be a tricky match.

I cant believe I have been betting on Nick, he is making Satoshi's for me! I dont
know how to bet on his quarter final.

Right, not sure what happen to Nick but it was a complete U-turn as he is really performing great that we have never seen from him in the last 2-3 years.

Well if he is making satoshis for us then why break it? I will probably go and continue to bet on him until his winning streak ends. And maybe he can go and continue into the finals because of the momentum from Wimbledon showing.
1929  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Teofimo Lopez vs Pedro Campa - Aug 13 on: August 05, 2022, 04:36:29 PM
Great mindset for him, one loss should not dictate his future, we have great boxers who are not undefeated so he still has a chance to prove himself. Anyway, I'm looking forward that Teo will be able to regain what he loss in his previous fight and that is by winning via KO.

Defeats break the weak people, but temper the strong. There are very few invincibles, everyone can lose, but a true champion will continue on his way. Lopez's positive attitude towards this fight is understandable, he looks like a clear favorite and this should give him more confidence if he wins. In this fight, he will be able to win, but the most difficult path is still ahead, this is just the beginning.

He just have to endure his situation now because he came from an unexpected result where he received his first defeat in his professional career, he just have to live with for the moment while he still making progress to be a champion again but this time in a different division. I'm rooting that he will defeat Campa by a way of KO/TKO because that way his career will gather enough hype to fight other big names in the same division.

I guess great boxers will have to endure that kind of situation in their careers, sooner or later will will be beaten, although it's great to have a 0 loss record, but in most cases, boxers that suffer a lost comeback very strong because of that 1 defeat.

The odds though doesn't change, Campa is still almost 9:1 underdog, just thinking it will not hurt if we throw some money on the underdog?
1930  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Man Collapses after Allegedly Losing a $400 Loan at a Betting Shop on: August 05, 2022, 02:18:51 PM
According to the story, a man collapsed after he lost $400(the equivalent 200k in my local currency) loan at a betting shop called Bet9ja. This money was borrowed from loan shark operators for pay for his house rent however. The man thought that he may be able to double it he took it to a betting shop. Sadly, he lost all the money to a virtual game. Now, he is mostly likely going to be kicked out of his apartment and wind up homeless on the street.

It's unbearable for him, imagine losing $400 instantly from a loan coming from a loan shark, loan sharks are notorious in giving high interest rate every time you delay your payment, I guess the guy doesn't have the money to pay his loan, this is the worst way to lose, you will still feel better if it's your own money, I could not imagine myself getting a loan from a loan shark only to lose everything in gambling.
If you're gambling money coming from a loan you are not thinking correctly, responsible people will never do such a thing.

Yes, probably that is the case for this man, watching the virtual game and then getting nervous when he see that his bet is not going to win. And eventually he lost and now thinking where he should get the money then for the rent and to pay for the loan. And it's unbearable that he collapses. Maybe for others $400 might not be a big money, but still a money that he chooses to gamble first instead of paying his rent so that he can still have a place to live, wrong decision but it's kinda late.
1931  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 05, 2022, 01:11:00 PM
Chicago Bulls have signed a contract with Goran Dragic. His last team were Brooklyn Nets and his performance there wasn't satisfying at all. He didn't perform at the level he wanted therefore I think that he has made the right choice by deciding to sign for another team. He is 36 years old though therefore I don't have huge expectations. But he can at least play better if he adapts to his new team. He can at least improve his PPG which is important for a guard.

Brooklyn is the worst team to happen for him. I don't expect him to perform like the way he does as the Nets were so stacked that they can create their own shots without the need of a good pg like Goran.
He would be a great addition for the Bulls next season. Looking forward to see the Dragic that was as good when he was still in the Phoenix Suns.

But I would say that he had some good games as a Nets right? And so he can still play ball and maybe the reason is that the Nets have a very different system and play that's why he was not used to that kind of basketball but yet I saw him contribute still even at his age. I think he will be a good fit for the Bulls specially if he can teach the young players like Lonzo Ball.
1932  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is about to have its biggest monthly gain since October 2021. on: August 04, 2022, 10:46:43 PM
We do not know if this recovery will last for a long time. The market has been in flux for a long time and this temporary rise does not indicate much. Yes, there was some recovery in the price of Bitcoin and some other coins, but this did not last long and began to decline, most likely this volatility stage will last for some the time.

After there is no recovery, of course we get over the last lower lows of $17,500. But still we are still struggling to just keep our nose above the $20k, and there are huge mental barrier around the $25k-$28k. So as what the title says here, biggest monthly gain? no, not going to happen, we will continue to fight $20k and until we reach $30k, there will be no movement next month or even up to December of this year.
1933  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Solana still a thing? on: August 04, 2022, 10:14:57 PM
I do agree with you and how dumb people keep buying this garbage blockchain coin. This blockchain is the most garbage blockchain after UST. this is the big question that has not yet answered. It seems like that people didn't really care about reliability of blockchain but pure speculating the token that issued by the blockchain.

It's probably because SOL was born out of the bull market that's why it has great start from the beginning. People never look (and you can call them dumb) regarding their blockchain, and they just invest on them, see the price goes up, tremendous growth. And now we've seen what their blockchain is in the bear market and realized that it was pure garbage and now we heard that they have been hacked and compromised.

1934  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Haney vs Kambosos II (Undisputed) on: August 04, 2022, 03:25:12 PM
I'm still hoping that Kambosos will get his revenge over Haney, although this is really a very difficult battle for him. Haney is a boring fighter who doesn't want to engage his opponent head on. But this is of course a great strategy for some. It's just that I admire Kambosos' way more. But he needs a lot of improvement if he's serious in beating Haney. He can't be the same Kambosos when they first met. He badly needs to find a way to penetrate Haney.

He might after all the fight is in his country, he just needs a strategy. He probably will just get a warning if he throws low blows until he gets a warning. But seeing this isn't making it worth it for Haney to go to Australia because this fight is not selling a stadium. Less money compares to what Kam got in the first fight. I think Haney meant there is the need to go to the US for the third fight in his interview. https://youtu.be/8dFaBj4Q9h8?t=73

Haney negated the home court advantage of Kambosos. He didn't allow him to dictate the tempo of the fight. And just like what he said on the first one, on the press conference, he has the tools to offset what George has to offer and that's what he did and he won convincingly.

I think in the rematch clause, still includes as Australia to be the venue. So Haney has no choice and to travel again, but it doesn't matter to him.

Kambosos will be once again humiliated in front of his fans if he will again do it in the same venue as the previous fight. I think the fight should happen in the US, Kambosos will also have to ensure that he is ready so he will not end up as a punching bag by Haney. Kambosos has to be very aggressive to try to win KO so does not have to worry about the outcome.

Yes, the rematch will happen in Australia. Kambosos will still be fighting in front of his countrymen. If he is going to be humiliated once again, it would be very painful for him. But I guess fighting in his home country is much more advantageous to him than fighting in the US. That would be Haney's country. He is already an underdog in whatever way we look at it so it would somehow add to his favor that he is fighting in a place he is comfortable. After all Haney performed well even if he's fighting in Kambosos' land.

Well he did fight Lopez in the US if I'm not mistaken, beat him bad and takes all the belt. And he really humiliated Lopez that time because Teo just beat Loma, consensus pound for pound. But we all know that George didn't even win his first defense because he chooses a fighter that is very difficult to beat because of their contrasting style. As the saying goes, style makes fight and this is the pure definition of it. And if even Kambosos lose again (majority of us thinks he will), then probably his win is a stroke of luck.
1935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Running household expenses with gambling on: August 04, 2022, 11:03:54 AM
Is it possible that we can run our household expenses with gambling ?

Possible, it is not an assurance, so this is an idiotic idea. I don't think there is some successful gambler here who do this right? Because we all know that this is not the right thing to do. We should get us a 9-5 job to bring food in the table and then have some money for our living expenses.

I am asking for those people who don't have any skill or job ?

Then look for one. Plan, save, anticipate. Do not pin one's hope to gambling.
1936  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: August 04, 2022, 03:45:35 AM
Alex De Minaur as 11 seed was upset Nishioka of Japan. And Rune destroys Paire in 2 easy sets.

Another upset is Hurcacz, he is the number 2 seed but he was badly beaten by E. Ruusuvuori.

Lots of good matches to watch later, Kyrgios vs Opelka is one, Rublev vs Cressy.

In the ladies side, top seed Pegula was ousted by Gavrilova, 5-7, 4-6.
1937  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 04, 2022, 02:39:29 AM
Well this name pops up: Dennis Schroder

We all remember him for turning down that huge $80+ million offered by him by the Lakers (its a 4 year extension). And we are all correct, and it could be the biggest regret of his career. As he sign with the Celtics and then we forgot what team he landed after that.

Anyone of them can still be a good acquisition for a team perhaps the roles though. Howard and Cousins could be a good back up center.
1938  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: August 01, 2022, 07:45:54 AM
What I mean is that Canelo had to defeat GGG in the first  half of the fight otherwise its him that is going to be in trouble because GGG seem to be getting better when the fight last longer. But we'll if his age is not making Golov rusty.

Not sure about that strong stamina in the later rounds for GGG and he's turning better at late rounds? Is that what you trying to say? Remember that he's up against a prime Canelo and containing him at every rounds needs a lots more and better stamina. GGG's stamina is surely not the same now compare to his prime. He's already at the retirement period of his career so expect some signs that he showed before won't be seen now on this match.

However, since GGG makes and force Canelo shows his limits, we can assume that he can last longer on this fight. I just don't want the fight will end up in Decision as the cash cow king will surely the victorious and that's Canelo unless the fight is clearly being dominated by GGG.

I believe that GGG will last longer, he has never been KO in his life as a boxer, so I would never have a doubt about his performance in this coming fight. We have to remember that GGG is trying to win, and it's his only chance to prove that he is the better boxer, so expect that he will be more eager to win in this fight.

The only concern is his age, but we cannot underestimate him because we know how discipline he is as a boxer. His last win was pretty much impressive, so he has that momentum going to this fight, and the good thing is that he is a heavy underdog, which makes the betting odds more interesting backing him.

Right, he still very impressive against Murata, and it seems that age doesn't affect his performance. Maybe it was due to him not being damage on his boxing career, as compare to let's say legends like Pacquiao and Donaire, who have been knock out. So for me, when they reach 40+ age, they are somewhat feeling the wear and tear and the effects of being in the boxing and having been knock out in their career. But GGG is not, he is the one dishing out the hurt, not receiving it and that could be a big factor why he can still fight at his age at high level.
1939  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: August 01, 2022, 01:36:21 AM
Sinner absolutely obliterated Alcaraz after a close first set loss. Its unbelievable how easily he generates power to hit the shot and they don't even look like a risky shot when he goes down the line. Alcaraz looked absolutely clueless after the first set. He still managed to run and get to the balls with quality depth but Sinner was always a step ahead and charging forward to finish the point instead of extending the rally. 6-1,6-1 against Carlos Alcaraz, who's been dominating on clay is quite an achievement. Sinner is a potential world no. 1. You heard it here first. Wink

Yes, happy for those who bet on Sinner,  Grin, ML and the handicap, good job Jannik.

He lost the 1st set at a very close match, however, as you have said, 6-1 2x in the last 2 sets? That's a total domination from Sinner.

For sure, Alcaraz will want to have a rematch, lol, but it will take some time before this 2 can play again. But we will love to see them again.
1940  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 31, 2022, 11:41:03 AM
And as expected, based on the odds of the fight, Danny Garcia dominated Benavidez in their match by majority decision, scores where: Judges Glenn Feldman (116-112) and Anthony Paolillo (117-111), while Waleska Roldan a draw (114-114).

The power though, it seems to me that Garcia doesn't have the power he has when he was the champion at 140 and 147 lbs. I guess moving up in weight, it diminishes. But if he ever faces a hard punching Charlo at I guess Danny doesn't have a chance.

It will take cherry pick fighters for Garcia to face in this division. Charlo is scary and that's why he holds all the belt here. And then we have Fundora and Tim Tszyu as well. I think him and Tszyu will be a tailor made fight and it will be huge if the fight is going to happen in Australia. But a hard hitting like Liam Smith or Tony Harrison might be tougher match up for Danny. He should get another tune up fight in this division.
