1921  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An alternative to gambling with money. on: June 29, 2022, 02:32:44 PM
What is your opinion on Fake money gambling apps, do you recognize the potential I think they have to assist in reducing the number of gamblers who loose real money?

This is actually a great alternative for people who are looking to at least play a game that simulates their gambling experience without the need of having to pay real cash.

The only problem with this kind of method is that its scope does not cover all kinds of gamblers. The reason on why gambling is so addictive is because of the added adrenaline due to the wager that the person betted. In addition, there are also some gamblers who do such activity primarily for profit. I guess if the game can introduce some sort of in-game money where the same adrenaline can be mimicked, then this alternative would be more effective.
1922  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on how I controlled my Gambling addiction. on: June 29, 2022, 01:43:57 PM
Identifying that you have a problem in the first place is a great initial step. I think you should discuss in more detail how you have become now and not just saying that you stopped and that’s it. Addiction is very hard to stop and that’s a challenge for everyone. It’s not an easy task to do so maybe you can share a more specific detail to what are the things that you have experienced that made it hard. Maybe then people can realize WHY it’s important to stop.

That is actually true- knowing that you are suffering from an addiction is one thing; but the actual execution of a plan in order to address such issue is another.

When a person is involved in something that is addicting in nature, they tend to rationalize their behaviour saying that what they are doing is entirely normal. But once they admit to themselves that they are indeed suffering, they have two (2) options: either they continue; or they address it. If you choose the latter, then the chances of one recovering from such addiction is greater.

There are tons of reviews, guides, tips, and even videos on how to overcome addiction but recognizing that you are suffering from it is the very first big leap of faith that someone has to do that will open so many new doors to recovery.
1923  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why can't bitcoin be based on something that has value? on: June 25, 2022, 11:59:23 PM
The price that derives the value of BTC is the law of demand and supply. In addition, with its inflationary and limited supply, the price is something that increases as more supply is being mined. Though many investors have frowned upon the lack of intrinsic value BTC has compared to gold (which is considered as a precious and non-renewable resource), the price of BTC is what many have took advantage in order to invest either for long-term or short-term.

Though I do understand where you are coming from OP, I guess it's better if you just focus on the investment aspect of it.
1924  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is BTC transaction so slow on: June 25, 2022, 11:56:24 PM
I am probably going to get nailed for this but its the truth, BTC transaction sucks🤦‍♀️ its slow as a snail, I am trying go send some bitcoin to exchange using my trust wallet and it's just there over 5 minutes, imagine been in haste in a store nearby trying to pay with BTC using your wallet and this happens, you are forced to wait around till the transaction go through, not a good feeling at all.

This has something to do with the fees associated with your transaction. The more people that use the network, the more delay would be incurred. As you increased the fees, then the priority also increases as miners would be able to prefer your transaction. Like what some suggested, you may opt to convert your BTC to some certain altcoins and you may transfer such to your wallet (if they offer altcoins on your wallet).

Remember that all of the transactions are posted on a ledger, so that means that the confirmations would take at least some time before they all become valid and confirmed.
1925  Economy / Gambling / Re: Which crypto sportbooks are VPN friendly on: June 25, 2022, 11:39:13 PM
You can view this topic in several ways. Today there are already sites that are so extensive and sophisticated that they can automatically detect and block the use of a proxy. I think it is mainly a matter of carefully reviewing and reading the general terms and conditions. Then you also have the problem that a VPN is only allowed in certain situations, there is still a lot of difference. By the way, to avoid problems with gambling sites, I recommend not using a VPN at all.

In this kind of situation, I think the best course of action would be to check the TOS off a respective gambling website. In the event that nothing is stated on their TOS, you can browse this forum if they have an active thread (most big gambling websites have an active thread in this board). They also have their respective representatives in which you can personally message for questions or inquiries.

Though this may be the case, I would still suggest that you avoid using any VPNs as this would put you in a potentially dangerous situation. Worst case scenario, they may also have the power to hold your funds until investigation is done.
1926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Casino Trends For 2022 on: June 25, 2022, 11:05:18 PM
I think you can add on the list OP that the popularity of online gambling casinos have increased tenfold due to the pandemic. With everyone almost working home, browsing through the internet and doing something online has become more of a necessity and a convenience. With this in mind, most of the businesses have shifted towards digitalization their products rather than offering it physically.

Even outside online gambling companies, lots of products in online shopping have been introduced. Their popularity has been steadily increasing as they take advantage of this situation. Though before people preferred to gamble online due to convenience, now it also becomes the only choice due to safety and regulations.
1927  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tending to cryptocurrency. on: June 25, 2022, 09:22:42 PM
<...snip...>
As a newbie in the space, I'm interested in knowing what your motivation is and why you are taking cryptocurrency learning seriously?

First and foremost, I am very sorry to hear that there exist such extreme sexism in your workplace. Unfortunately, these type of workspace makes it very unbearable to women especially that if there are external and obvious signs that such prejudicial attitude exists. As an alternative method, this may however, drive you to explore other options in order to at least prove to yourself that one's sex does not affect productivity and attitude.

Personally, what drives me to invest into cryptocurrencies is my current status. As someone who lives in a third-world country, having the means of earning is a privilege. Lots of competitions exist and people would do jobs that are against their passion just in order to survive.

Though cryptocurrencies may seem complicated, this forum has brought me the privilege of working online while at the same time having an investment.
1928  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin become a global currency ? on: June 25, 2022, 08:50:47 PM
To sum it all up, BTC cannot be a global currency, at least for the near future.

The problem with BTC is its very nature itself- meaning its inflationary supply and value can be a future issue when it comes to pricing. Imagine, having a currency that has a value that changes regularly can be prejudicial in certain circumstances and scenarios. In addition, BTC is something that is considered to be an investment. Though this may be the case, there are certain factors that may be adopted from cryptocurrencies that can be integrated into the future financial model.
1929  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Phil Mickelson Opens Up About Losing MILLIONS From Gambling on: June 25, 2022, 02:33:52 PM
When you are the ones playing your sports, you'll trust on your skills which is why he bet so much too. I guess this is also what happened to the NBA stars who fell in same loss. It must be hard to cure such gambling addiction since he make a living out of golf sport, he is expose to this sport all his life. The only way I guess is to retire and if he still gambles after that, its really getting worse.

At best, the only way to remedy his situation is to completely avoid gambling or become a consultant that advocates in curing gambling addiction. In this way, he can be set as an example on why gambling long-term can lead to series of downfall as lots of people can never really have a stable career in this field (with a few notable exceptions).

If you are basing your steady stream of income to something that is completely unpredictable and risky, then you are placing yourself to a potential danger. I just hope that people who gamble do it purely for entertainment- once you chase for profits, then you will slowly realize that it will eat your resources quickly.
1930  Economy / Gambling / Re: Poker has over 1.3 Billion players globally, What about a poker gamefi?? on: June 25, 2022, 01:49:09 PM
You are suggesting this at the wrong time op. The entire market is sinking like crazy and most play to earn crypto games are screwed due to their respective token prices falling drastically in value.

Also, poker isn't really the hottest crypto game out there. You usually get matched with bots due to the unavailability of human players in crypto gambling sites.

Interesting observation- along with the general prices of commodities increasing and the prices of cryptocurrencies decreasing, I do think that the popularity of gambling may be somehow hampered at this time. Though prices may be low, I do think that most would prefer to invest and purchase cryptocurrencies rather than investing them due to the potential of earning long-term profit.

In addition, while poker may be the most famous card game casino out there, it is not by any means the most popular game in a gambling casino. Lots of varieties have been introduced and lots of innovations have been assembled in the gambling industry games.
1931  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Government Owned Online Casinos What Do You Think Of Its Potential on: June 25, 2022, 01:36:01 PM
The Covid is still here and we are still in a pandemic, I have a topic where Macau is struggling to keep their casinos open despite the spike in their country

Macau's Casino Operation Continues Despite The Latest Outbreak

What do you think if these countries or cities that totally depends on their casino for their revenue to keep the economy floating launch their own online casinos, there are already online casinos based in Macau or a country where land casinos are government-owned but it's privately funded what I mean is government-owned.

Will they get enough support, will they get a huge slice of the market that is ruled by companies, they have the funds and they have the reputation because they are government who are more established and will be more compliant

The best example of this is the The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) in the Philippines.

Back in 2019, this gambling industry is responsible for bringing around $600 million worth of revenue in the country, which is also responsible for increasing at least 9% of the revenue of the whole country. This gambling company is owned by the government 100 percent and is also considered the largest contributor of revenue along with the other Bureaus in the country.
1932  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Taking Loans - Is it ideal? on: June 25, 2022, 06:15:26 AM
<...snip....>
Taking loans is good if you are responsible enough to repay it, but if you think you can't better not to apply at all.

I do agree with your posts, OP.

The problem with loans is that you are exchanging a guaranteed liability to something that is absolutely risky on itself. The proceeds that you may earn in a high-risk investment can be potentially dangerous especially if you have no other means to repay the said loan. Though I know a handful of people who had successfully done this kind of venture, I still highly advise all to do so as it will most likely lead to more liabilities.

If you want to utilize your loan, at least use them on things that are relatively risky- not on high-risk investments such as cryptocurrencies.
1933  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you trust a gambler with your money/savings? on: June 24, 2022, 04:33:15 PM
Questions for discussion
- Are gamblers eligible to hold financial positions?

This highly depends on the person you are dealing on if you know them personally or if you have developed a long-lasting relationship with him/her. But as a general rule, it is better to avoid a situation where there is a risk of your funds losing on the hands of a gambler as they can be erratic when it comes to decision-making.

Quote
- Do problem gamblers deserve a second chance to hold a financial position?

As a general rule, everyone deserves a second chance in the event that they do something wrong. But in order to gain back such trust, this would require tremendous effort and patience since establishing a fiduciary relationship with this person may take a relatively long amount of time. Most probably, the person keeping the funds would just deposit the money to the bank rather than letting a gambler take hold of their resources.
1934  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Casinos Vs Ethereum Casinos on: June 24, 2022, 04:10:48 PM
Bitcoin casino is still more popular for me, personally, I am not gambling in any Ethereum Casinos because of the high fees, I don't know now, maybe it reduce a bit because of the market situation but it is still expensive. Why not just make a gambling site that would compete with the existing one and has a lot of payment system? including ETH of course, that way people will have plenty of options.

I think that at the end of the day, it still depends upon the preference of the gambler. Though fees may make or break the type of cryptocurrency to gamble, I personally think that gambling using other cryptocurrencies is to be preferred.

Remember that the value of BTC may increase in the near future. Due to its inflationary nature and limited supply in the market, there is always that potential for its price to skyrocket. Though prices currently are on the read, the greatest evidence of it reaching another ATH is its price history when it reached peak $60,000 for a single BTC.
1935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on How to Manage Gambling Addiction an Open Discussion. on: June 23, 2022, 06:26:13 PM
Just to add on the list that OP completely provide, one must assess himself on why he/she gambles in the first place.

A gambler that gambles purely out of entertainment may not suffer from addiction; but a gambler who gambles for the sake of profit may suffer addiction due to the nature of their purpose. It is essential that you align your purpose into a different avenue- people who hopes to earn profit MUST not engage into this kind of activity given the risks involved.

Based from overwhelming responses, most of these gamblers who are addicted are the ones who suffer financially. They think that by gambling, every financial problem may be resolved in an instant, thereby eliminating the need to work regularly. This kind of mindset should be changed. Again, do not engage into this kind of activity if your purpose is for repayment of a particular purpose.
1936  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China warns Bitcoin is heading to zero on: June 23, 2022, 06:02:57 PM
<...snip...>

I mean, what do you expect from a country that controls and manipulates their media? As far as I know, China also banned and prohibited the utlization of cryptocurrencies in their country- so it is somehow expected that they will force their people to believe such lies.

Though this may be the case, I think this will hurt the price and growth of cryptocurrencies in general. Before, there were tons of Chinese miners but the prohibition had caused a massive reduction of the prices of cryptocurrencies. Hopefully, some countries would show their support towards the movement of BTC and cryptocurrencies in order to at least pacify this situation.

v. Personal Research

All you've mentioned above should start here, DYOR is very important to all newcomers before they will be putting their money as an investment.
All of you've mentioned are pretty common scam activities that we usually heard here, fraud is everywhere waiting for someone who will be caught in their trap, and those lazy and greedy people will most likely be next to their victim.

We have a community here that can be a part of your DYOR, stick to this board and find out more scams or if you will find them, you can spread awareness here.

I wholeheartedly agree with you- newbies (even long time investors) should always do research before they invest their capital into something.

This should be considered as the general rule of thumb before investing any amount of money into something. I remember back in 2018 when the price of BTC reached an ATH of $20,000, lots of people invested without even knowing the market. They rode the 'hype' without even understanding what they are investing on. When the price crashed on the first quarter of 2018, they are also the ones who shouted and complained that investing into BTC is a 'scam' and/or a 'bubble.'

That is why before anyone invests into a particular item, one must always do their corresponding research in order to avoid any further complications that one MIGHT experience in the long-run.
1938  Economy / Economics / Re: You win or you learn. on: June 23, 2022, 02:27:07 PM

Now I know how cash circulates into the crypto markets. I know fundamentals are the most important part of a project. I again could do mistakes in the next bull season but I will be more mature than to handle the situation. I do take some losses but the lesson it gave me would save a hell lot of money in the future.

I mean, not to invalidate your feelings but you are definitely entitled to your feelings about your investments. Regardless of the result, our feelings and emotions would be affected since this involves our time and commitment to a certain investment. But there are things that we certainly overlook- like we sometimes forget our humble beginnings since we focus too much on the present that we disregard our origins and setups.

Based from your experience OP, always remember that our investments are called "investments" for a reason. Though the price may have crashed, always remember the fact that its price reached $60,000, there will always be that possibility that its price would recover again.
1939  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you bet on transgender only events? on: June 23, 2022, 02:18:39 PM
I think it will just be a matter of time before other sports organization will follow after them. Will there be a good market for this? I don't know but bookies will probably open a different line for the events exclusive for them. Would you bet if they do?

I do not think that there will be no significance if the game involves a transgender or not- what matters is that the game is competitive and is available to all for betting.

There have been some discussions about allowing transgender people to participate to their respective sexes. Since a transgender person also involves the change of hormones and physical physique, there will be naturally some sort of gender bias in their participation to the events. Though this may be the case, I doubt that it would be of such significance to warrant this kind of prohibition.
1940  Economy / Gambling / Re: KYC casino or no-KYC casino, but with no bonuses/no cashback? on: June 23, 2022, 01:38:42 PM
If you were given a choice, would you play regularly in a cryptocurrency casino WITH KYC, and with added benefits like first deposit/welcome bonuses and cashbacks?

Or would you like to play regularly in a casino, WITHOUT KYC, BUT also without the welcome bonuses, cashbacks and other extra rewards?

I think this question varies on the type of gambler, either an active or a casual gambler; and the amount that they wager regularly.

Personally, I would prefer to choose a casino that requires KYC though offers several signup bonuses, etc. As someone who does not regularly gamble and only gambles only a relatively small amount, I doubt that there would be any harm nor conflict whenever I cash out my earnings even with all the KYC deposits.

If you are someone who gambles large amounts of BTCs in a single bet, it is much preferred to choose a casino that does not require you to present KYC documents for your safety.
