2001  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How often do you transact in the real world with your bitcoin or digital money? on: June 02, 2022, 11:24:45 PM
Fortunately, there is a local exchange in our country that offers easy and convenient conversion rates of BTC (or any other altcoin) to cash. Not only do you convert them quickly (rates are much lower) but you can also use such money to pay for various of services and products, such as paying the bills, ordering some food, etc.

While this feature may seem convenient, the problem with this is that the local exchange requires tons of KYC documents to the point that it asks for your ITRs, source of income, etc. While this may be also the case, I think it is just and fair that the exchange requires these documents as it is also for our protection in case the government freezes our accounts in the event of a huge transaction.
2002  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your Mantra After, while playing And Before You Gamble on: June 01, 2022, 11:45:33 PM
Yes that's true, experience is actually the best teacher after all but I do understand them because I also have some friends that is doing the same stuff. Actually it's not like they are basing their lucks in mantra or beliefs because even them know that luck isn't based on things, they're just doing that stuff because that makes them more comfortable and it boost their confidence. Though it may be outrageous to see but eventually you will also get used to it, also it's not our business because that's how they play.

Exactly you got the right point. I also think that having such a habit is not unusual or something to blame. I saw above that many people are looking at it with blame. Yes, this does not mean that gambling can be won by saying these words. To say this means to feel a different comfort while gambling. I also use some common words when I start the game, and use some words to win and some words to lose. I don't see anything wrong with that

I agree with you.

Like the previous comment that I mentioned, having your own designated mantra may not entirely affect the odds but it gives you this sense of relief and confidence before you gamble. Similarly, pep talks are somehow attributable especially it gives you feeling of encouragement from yourself as it eliminates the anxiety and stress from gambling.

While mantras do not have a direct impact and effect to the odds (like I previously mentioned), it is also advisable that a gambler discovers any method or technique that would help them realign their mind and decision before they gamble (this prevents overspending).
2003  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the golden rule of investment? on: June 01, 2022, 10:40:49 PM
I have a friend who invests in cryptocurrency like me, he is an investor hold Luna and he has also lost quite a bit because of Luna. But what's more sad is his 2 best friends. Those two are also hold a lot of Luna's and Luna's crash causes them to lose all their possessions and become insane. As he said, one person has gone through the crisis and one has not. Those two guys who invested in Luna were all from my friend's advice. He said it was he who indirectly harmed them, money can be earned, but his friend are gone.

This is a sad story that I have heard. Through this story I want everyone to know 1 golden rule in investing is: never give financial advice to anyone. By the time you give them financial advice, you may feel like you're one step ahead of them, but if that advice is wrong, you could be the one hurting them.

I will not say that this is the golden rule of investment but one must always have a contingency before they invest. In addition, the investor must also determine the limits of his/her investment (e.g. knowing when to cash out their investments and/or pullout incase of crash in the market). What happened among you friends is that, the other one got greedy and decided to at least wait for more time to cash out.

In the event of a crash, always have a contingent plan about the investments. Lastly, also invest on the money that you can and are willing to lose. Treat your investments as "loss money" so the feeling of loss (in such event), will not be that too bad.
2004  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction causing victim to scam his family on: June 01, 2022, 03:42:05 PM
Such person is really need a professional to take care of him, I'd say beggars are more better than gambling addicts because beggars didn't make anyone got harm from his action, they only need money to buy foods, if not they will eat from leftover foods. If gambling addict can't change his mind and become more realistic to manage his money and his action, he could be lunatic/insane person.

it depends... there are many beggars who have found a way out of the cruel world in which they live in drugs.
So a beggar can also be an addict and do bad things to other people to maintain his addiction.
But I agree with you about the need for someone to take care of these people, and in the case of gambling addiction, the first help needs to come from the family, because it is surely he who will notice the first signs that something is not right.

I think this is a failed comparison as beggars and gamblers are worlds apart from each other.

Beggars always have that potential of becoming potential criminals due to the nature of their circumstances- they have no food and rely on alms to at least eat one or twice a day (not to discriminate all beggars). Though gamblers also have that potential, they are at less risk of evolving into one since their situation can be remedied IF (emphasized on IF) they change their habits and ways.

Unlike beggars, the only way to remedy their situation is having a good foundational education and get a stable job.
2005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you saved your bitcoins in multiple wallets? on: June 01, 2022, 02:55:08 PM
As the saying goes dont keep your eggs in the same basket. So have you saved all of your btc in mutiple wallets\software?

I like to split with electrum air gapped and bitcoin core.

Should i make it 50:50 even though bitcoin core is always online?

The amount is not that much but i am thinking that if i make it to good amount of mbtc, it will be prudent to divide the amount.

Any OGs who can give feedback?

I tried saving my BTCs in multiple addresses but in the end, I still sent them to our local exchange where it can be easily converted to cash, where the latter can be used for various payment of services or products. The only downside is, there are lots of KYC documents that are needed to be passed in order to avail these feature as this is considered the local exchange in our countries.

Generally, it is advisable to save your BTCs in multiple wallets in order to scatter and divide the risks but it is better to save them inside a hardware wallet for maximum security.
2006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: should I be concerned about the history of bitcoins when buying them ? on: May 31, 2022, 10:01:02 PM
If I purchase bitcoins via p2p, can I get some problems if the bitcoins I get were involved in some criminal activity ? If yes then how do I avoid such situation ?

I do not think so- criminal activity may only be linked when you purchase goods on the internet or under the dark web; and bitcoin is decentralized. This means that all of the transactions that you made cannot be linked or traced on the origin of their existence.

Even if the BTCs you are holding were linked to some criminal activity, I doubt that the government would absolutely characterized it that the current HODLer is the one perpetrating the crime. This is a good question and I have yet to encounter a person or some news that reported such issue.
2007  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The digital ID for Gambling on: May 31, 2022, 09:29:41 PM
Apparently Denmark is all Set to Launch the new Digital ID rules for Gambling in the upcoming July. They have already been using some sort of identification but apparently this is new and improved and would apply for all the gamblers willing to submit their ID and use the services. EasyID is now going to be Replaced by MyID. The license holders of online casino would have to now integrate their systems in the manner that the government prefers. People are still waiting for an update but I would like to know what you think about the system of online ID? Integrating it with gambling might be saving some kids going on these sites but it might also be taking all the privacy away. What are your thoughts on this ?
Reference:
https://www.gamblinginsider.com/news/16594/denmark-to-introduce-new-digital-id-rules-in-july

When you mean by this development, is this purely when visiting physical casinos or is this also applicable in online gambling? While I do appreciate the efforts of the government to improve their security system, this would only relatively impact only a handful of persons as this not address entirely the issue of gambling addiction.

Like what most have mentioned, the impact would only be towards proper payment of taxes and accounting as this would impose more stricter rules on the side of gambling establishments, not on the players and the impact on the society.

2009  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] World Championship 2021: Carlsen Vs. Nepomniachtchi on: May 28, 2022, 11:59:16 PM
So the Champions Chess Tour just finished and a big congratulations for Ding Liren for winning the match against Pragg! I really thought that Pragg would win given that he has been dominating the tournament so far but Ding managed to beat him in a best of 3 series.

If Ding were to participate and win in the candidates, I do think that Magnus Carlsen would participate in the next WCC, since he had mentioned in the past that he would most likely not participate until he is against Alireza.

2010  Economy / Economics / Re: What skills should I learn to get freelance work ..?? on: May 28, 2022, 11:49:10 PM
Hello everyone , I wanted to increase my monthly earnings and for that I know I need to have some skills.
Currently I do write articles, but not getting paid as I would like.
I am willing to learn some more skills so that I can get good paid freelance work here in this forum or any other freelance website.
Can you please guide me what should I learn.
Some options I thought digital marketing or take a course on blockchain.
Please give me some advice. I want to earn good money and for that I am ready to work hard and learn some good skills which would help me do so.

I personally think that you should learn anything to do with the blockchain. In addition, you could write articles that touches upon current events relating to matters to cryptocurrencies as these are the articles that are frequently published and read by people.

Since you already have experiences when it comes to writing, you can expand your project by creating books or even documenting them for future YouTube content, if ever you decide to create your own channel. Lastly, you can also try participating into campaign signatures since your vast knowledge would definitely have a contribution to this forum, with you reaping the benefits of earning weekly BTCs in the process.
2011  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it a good time to start accepting BTC? on: May 28, 2022, 11:09:04 PM
Hello all,

I have been following Bitcoin prices for some time, and now I'm doubtful if it is a good time to start accepting it as it has changed so much in the past months. Those who accept Bitcoin - is it worth it? And do you accept Bitcoin straight to your wallet, or do you use third-party services?

Thanks in advance!

From an investment standpoint, some might argue that accepting BTC directly may be a bad move, but to others (including me) this is a dream come true waiting to happen. The beauty in investing into BTC is primarily due to its inflationary nature and volatility. Many have experienced that their investments skyrocket due to BTCs volatile value and nature.

Personally, investing into cryptocurrency is definitely risky but it is definitely worth it due to the potential of earning thousands to millions. From my experience also, my BTCs go straight to my wallet and no third-party services (e.g mixers, etc.) have been used to transfer such.
2012  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to struggle hard when you in choise of Payment Gate for Gambling project on: May 28, 2022, 09:54:08 PM
We want to open a gaming business for Asian countries - Japan, China, and Thailand. What payment systems do you think will be convenient for this region? Thanks in advance.

I think starting with their local currency is a good start in knowing what payment systems should be accepted. At least, you must implement a function where they can conveniently convert their local currency to cryptocurrency so this could attract their attention if you were to open a gaming business in Asia.

In the Philippines, I highly suggest that you have an option to pay using our convenient mobile app (e.g. GCash) since such is already linked to several payment methods that can be conveniently converted and transferred from one currency to another. This kind of step must be discovered and studied by your team before implementing such option.
2013  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What do I have to do on: May 28, 2022, 09:28:05 PM
newbie often run into losses when investing in new projects.  ,i once bought new coins but i can't resell them. i think i have been cheated  Embarrassed what can you suggest to us and how to find out if the project is a scam? Is it true that new Coins can give big profits as people say on youtube channel?

There are dozens of ways in order to know if a certain coin/project is a scam.

First, you must check the whitepaper of the project. You have to read and check if what they created is purely original or plagiarized from different whitepapers already existing in the crypto-space. Second, check the domain if the website is relatively fairly new. If they registered under a fake domain address, then chances are that they are only hosting for free spaces which suggests a rug-and-pull scheme. Third, check the team members of the project and the overall creation of the website. If you saw that they did not even bother to put some effort towards the website, then chances are that such may be a scam.

There are lots of ways to determine if a project is a scam but you always have to remain vigilant and observant in order to avoid being scammed in the first place.
2014  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: May 28, 2022, 09:00:29 PM
The game between the Celtics and Heat showed the dominance of Jimmy Butler especially when his back is against a wall. Dishing out 47 points, he dominated the paint and showed confidence on why he is the best player on the league right now. Arguably, I would say that he is underrated as people underestimate his capabilities on the court. He is known to at least have any role on the court especially with his athleticism and raw strength that managed to push the Heat to a game 7.

Though this may be the case, I still doubt that the Heat (assuming they win game 7) can pass through the powerhouse of GSW. The team chemistry, individual skills, and player development of the latter is just too difficult to overcome.
2015  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So my portfolio is down %70...too late to pull back now I guess on: May 28, 2022, 08:27:14 PM
This downtrend has been detrimental to my health (mental health). Exactly %70 just now. No lunch money type of money either.

Have we ever experienced this kind of downtrend before?? What's the latest on how long this might last, or if it's even going to recover.

I remember there was an instance that during the last quarter of 2017, the prices of BTC skyrocketed from $4,000 to almost $20,000. Every person who despised BTC at that time was forced to invest and there were lots of people who were also unaware of what they are investing on. When the first quarter of 2018 came, prices dropped from $20,000 to $6,000 and people were losing their minds, saying that BTC is a "bubble" and a "scam."

So what lesson can we gain from here? First, you must always create a contingency plan before you invest. If your investments are down by 70%, then you failed to pull them out before they reached 70% to begin with. Personally, I would HODL your coins since it is already down by 70%, might as well just wait.
2016  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Habitual Bitcoin Buyer-Not what you think on: May 27, 2022, 11:47:02 PM
How have some of you stopped doing this over leveraging. Crypto rich but cash poor. Tips and advice appreciated.

While DCA (Dollar-Cost Averaging) may be the suitable method for some investors given that most does not have a big capital to invest everything in one go, you must need to prioritize or allocate the amount that you are willing to invest on without compromising your daily/weekly/monthly obligations.

One thing you also might need to understand is that investments are cash. They are investments in a way that you can actually withdraw or cash them out if the emergency calls for such situation. The beauty about investing into cryptocurrencies is you can always cash them out without the need of going through a complex process, compared to other investment methods.
2017  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] World Championship 2021: Carlsen Vs. Nepomniachtchi on: May 27, 2022, 11:31:59 PM
another vote for the seris "Queen's Gambit" here, it's a great series, and also my favorite opening when playing whites.

I agree that practice helps to improve, but studying and learning more strategies and techniques too!
Hmm... interesting! Thanks for your recommendation and shared with us.

Talking about learning, yes, sure, because one thing complements the other!
It is interesting to study, learn new strategies, see tutorials and strategies and put all this into practice.

The Queen's Gambit opening is considered one of the strongest opening for white due to its aggressiveness. There are lots of traps in that position where you can win a piece or even sacrifice a piece to checkmate the King in a specific move order, but I will highly recommend for you to master it!

Another fun fact, that is also the reason on why the series on Netflix is named after such opening. It has been used by chess GMs over and over again to the point that they already know or encountered the same position repeatedly.
2018  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your Mantra After, while playing And Before You Gamble on: May 27, 2022, 10:09:37 PM
I and many of my friends have our own mantra before and after we gamble, I just discovered this when we have a drinking session we find out that many of us have our own mantra before, while playing and after or even in the middle of playing.

Mine was "This is my lucky day and I'm claiming it" and when in the middle of the game "I need to play money that I can afford to lose".

How about you do you have one and when do you recite it before, while playing or after you gamble.

Well it is not a mantra but more of a ritual- before I gamble, I used to put a penny inside my shoes and I stepped on it before I gamble my resources away. As for my brother, he always say the phrase "win or lose, at least I had fun."

Though these mantras or rituals may have no effect on the gambling odds/chances, it somehow gives the players this comfort and motivation that everything will be alright. This kind of effect is similar when you give yourself a pep-talk where it somehow boosts your confidence before you do something.
2019  Economy / Gambling / Re: Themed Provably Fair Casinos on: May 27, 2022, 01:39:17 PM
Do you prefer Themed provably fair casinos or not. By themed I mean like Tower bet or bitkong style. What are some of the best themed platforms? Any new ones?

When you mean by "themed provably fair casinos", are there the ones that contain games that are specific or tied within a casino? Preferably, I would at least try it out but what separates a gambling casino from another is their service and continuous customer support service. Even if a casino has a well-themed games, if their customer service is subpar, then I would avoid it at all cost.

As for recommendations, I would suggest trying gambling casinos that are well-known already in the market (e.g. duelbits, fortunejack, etc.) as they also have games that contain well-themed ones along with excellent customer support service.
2020  Economy / Economics / Re: Solar panels set to be mandatory on all new buildings under EU plan on: May 27, 2022, 01:27:34 PM
to be honest, not everyone has the ability to buy solar panels because they are quite expensive, especially for the installation and battery costs.. if the government can provide subsidies for this I think this could be the best option to reduce carbon footprint, particularly in the European region

Though this may be the case, still, the best course of action is to continue purchasing solar panels for alternative source of energy for consumption. If these countries have other sustainable methods, such as wind powers, etc., then they may opt to. But for the meantime, solar panels still provide the best course of alternative energy though it may be expensive initially.

This kind of alternative fuel should be installed into countries that are geographically placed into locations in which sunlight is abundant. I do hope that the government of other countries would follow this kind of implementation to take advantage of something that is free and natural.
