1901  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many accounts per User or Company ? on: September 29, 2021, 02:33:53 PM
~
No, it is still not the best advice though.
There are times that you really need to own an alt account especially if you are mostly visiting the forum outside your home as you will mostly encounter unsafe network in cases you want to use the internet outside and expect that there will be a lot of users in a public network. From that case, you want to use an alt account that you use when connected to unsafe networks.

Other cases would be separation of accounts primarily used for discussion and other one would be for business here in the forum.
1902  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to earn Merits? on: September 29, 2021, 10:30:09 AM
~
You might need to step up your game from what I can see from your post history. Try to engage more in discussions, because most of your post are direct reply to the OP.
You do not need to be multiple liner poster to earn one, so don't overcomplicate it too much.
1903  Economy / Reputation / Re: My bitcointalk account got misused by my friend on: September 28, 2021, 08:08:46 PM
~

The negative trust on his account can't be removed just by saying that the account is misused by his friends. That's a lame excuse but even if show how this miracle happen, the account will still be tagged as it changes hands.

I would like to suggest OP that instead of complaining here, go ask your friend why he misuse your account. Claim damages from your friend.
Either way even if OP's friend come here, it won't help the fact that s/he gave his/er account to someone else. Signing a message with the staked address like khaled0111 said is the only way to prove the account's ownership, but from the looks of it, the -ive has slim chance of being removed now that there is even a flag created.
1904  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Taking loan to trade is a risky task on: September 28, 2021, 06:58:44 PM
~
This is what I pointed out previously on a similar thread about someone asking if loaning to trade is okay.
The worst is obviously not being able to pay because you did not hit your desired price excluding the fees that you might incur from exchange.  I could have done that in my day trade back in the days, but I know it is absolutely unreasonable to do so.

Regardless if it is a friend or family that you are loaning from expecting lax upon the date of making payment after the due, it is still a liability that you need to resolve in the future.
1905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How are you taking the China Bitcoin Ban? on: September 28, 2021, 02:33:32 PM
~
Just heard about that news recently. Even if we think about it anyway, there is nothing we could do about it. I've been seeing a lot of crypto and china news already for a long-time and it just does not bother me a single bit already even in other country bans. GPU enthusiast would be a bit more happy though, since they believe that the inflation of price of GPUs are due to crypto mining and from Bitcoin being banned, surely they are looking and eyeing on the drop of GPU price.
1906  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is easier? on: September 28, 2021, 09:26:35 AM
~
They are both connected to each other anyway. Hype comes, price surges and when the hype drains out the price dips. I do not think that there is any choice with here but to take advantage of the hype while it is still blasting around the news.
Just do not go with the hype if you are into long-term investment.
1907  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Worthy Airdrops on: September 27, 2021, 08:08:13 PM
~
From my experience in the older days, airdrops did not involve any other tasks like those. Just input your name and all the required information. The least thing that they want you to do is join their Telegram channel, as you need to also input your Telegram username in their form.
More tasks from that and I would call it a bounty though.
1908  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Signature Campaigns / bounty for Newbies on: September 27, 2021, 04:48:35 PM
~the most important thing right now is to deepen our knowledge and practice to following bounties~
Don't focus too much into bounties like "deepening our knowledge and practice to following bounties" you mentioned.

Remember this is a forum and not those bounty hives/earning or earning platforms.
1909  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Additional Requirement from CoinsPh on: September 27, 2021, 04:44:51 PM

You just got included in the screenshot, but you are not the one being talked about in the OP.
You are not among those names being reported, don't worry. There was a massive spam of those "Pegasis" post recently, in case you missed it.
1912  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: September 26, 2021, 05:17:26 AM
I read whole article I found it very helpful for me. Cause theri are people that are always helping others.
I have question that merit points that are given are deducted from Donor.
For example:
Legendary member A: 870 merit
Member B: 16 Merit
If Member A give 5 merit to member B than User A merit would be 865 or 870.
I will be pleased if someone replies my Question.
870
Merit is independent from sMerits (sendable merits).
sMerits are those merits that you can send/award to other users, while merits are literally your merit points and it cannot be deducted unless by these occasion/s
(Merit for Deleted Posts).

For more information about it, please read this thread - Merit & new rank requirements
1913  Other / Meta / Re: Scambaiter Childboard?? on: September 26, 2021, 02:56:16 AM
No.  Theymos is barely inclined to make simple improvements to the forum to make basic functionalities easier to use, so there's no way in hell he's going to create a subsection dedicated to something like what you're talking about.  Not only would it not be popular, but it'd probably draw more scammers to the forum than there already are (and there are plenty).

If I were you, I wouldn't waste my time making these suggestions.  I don't think you've yet gotten a feel for how slowly changes are implemented on bitcointalk, so my advice to you is to just sit back and observe.
If my suggestion is not welcomed. I will create a thread title 'Scambaiters' and see how many will visit the thread. Should the thread remain inactive after a month I will delete it.
Not that your suggestion is not welcomed, but like nutildah already mentioned that it is already being done in here in the form of SA board.
It is more of scam busting rather than scambaiting, but the result/s are pretty much the same.
1914  Other / Meta / Re: Scambaiter Childboard?? on: September 25, 2021, 06:21:01 PM
Uh no, OP.
Scam accusation board is enough already for any scam-related topics.

From what I observed from scambaiters like Kitboga, Jim Browning and Pierogi, it is really a risky stuff to do. You are risking your PC being locked because those scammers really love to lock victim's computer assuming the scam involves getting connected and having remote connection to your PC and you don't want that to happen to you in cases that you messed up with your scambaiting. Mostly scambaiters are focused into refund scams and fake tech support scams which both involve needing remote desktop connection which is a no-no. You never wanted someone posting here that they got locked up in their own PC, because they forgot to set up their VM and messed up their entire scambaiting.

Scambaiting and scambaiters already have their own community in Reddit whether it is crypto-related or not and let's just leave it that way, imo.

I am literally watching Kitboga right now when I suddenly saw this thread popup. What a timing.
1915  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ranks of bitcoin hodlers. on: September 25, 2021, 02:24:37 PM
~
Not trying to be rude, but you're a full member and don't know that whales are persons holding large amounts of bitcoin?
OP is not saying that he does not know about what "whales" are in Bitcoin. He just found out that there are other aquatic animals used to categorize holders of Bitcoin in terms of amount being held. Whales has been all over the news even outside the forum and surely everyone that holds Bitcoin knows what "whales" are already.
1916  Other / Meta / Re: Donate option for bitcointalk staff on: September 25, 2021, 09:51:04 AM

If I can recall correctly, this is the one - Forum funds

Theymos provided a breakdown in the past years. I just can't pinpoint that exact message/reply.

Edit: Nevermind. Found it.
Code:
2017
Income: $996,494 + $6257 donations
Expenses - Forum software project: $246,138
Expenses - Mods and others: $261,433
Expenses - Hosting etc: $49,726

2018
Income: $473,247 + $479 donations
Expenses - Forum software project: $272,250
Expenses - Mods and others: $204,547
Expenses - Hosting etc: $43,907

Tax is not included for 2017. Because bitcointalk.org is tax-wise a disregarded entity, it's difficult for me to calculate the tax costs attributable to forum activities. I'll do it some other day.
1917  Other / Meta / Re: Banned words as usernames on: September 24, 2021, 07:41:43 PM
~

I don't think this feature can be abused. A person who is coming on the forum very first time won't use the similar usernames like that of any trusted high ranked popular member or an admin. This tactic will only be done by those who know the forum very well and they try to make such accounts for the purpose of scamming only. People are clever enough to distinguish between the ranks. I never heard anyone on bitcointalk getting trapped in such scam of giving any information or money to impersonating user.
Somehow this reminds me of this user especially for those people that are customizing their own Trust List. It's not that usual impersonation of reputated users, but surely is deceptive when people add the user in their trust list with  "~".

Surely that user knew how the trust system works.

@OP
Aside from what others mentioned above, it would do just fine as there is already restriction to some names. One might receive neutral tag if the username s/he uses is similar or close to a reputated user/s in here, but it is just a matter of note to avoid confusion as there are users here that have an alt for various purposes like separation of business account to accounts that are being used in unsafe networks.
Read this thread as an example scenario: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5349667.msg57479145#msg57479145
1918  Other / Meta / Re: Donate option for bitcointalk staff on: September 24, 2021, 03:58:27 PM
Just contact the person you wanted to donate BTC to through PMs if you're worried that the BTC address posted in their profile is no longer under their control.

.... and no it's not useful, OP. Sorry.

1919  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Additional Requirement from CoinsPh on: September 24, 2021, 02:15:48 PM
tama Kabayan sayang na obserbahan mo sana haha, pero ok na din yon kasi mahirap na kung naipit ang funds natin bagay na naranasan kona noong nakaraang taon yan at nakakabuwisit talaga.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
pinaka maganda talaga na humanap na ng option kabayan dahil hindi na maganda ang paghihigpit na pinag gagawa ni coins.ph.
Naaalala ko noon nung open pa yung site ng Rebit PH para sa mga nais mag cash out ng Bitcoin nila. Nabasa ko lang noong nakaraang buwan na nagsara na sila at mukang magkakaroon pa sila ng panibagong platform sa hinaharap. Humigpit sila unti unti noong nalaman kong di na pumapasok mga sinesend kong Bitcoin sa kanila, dahil kinakailangan na rin nila noon ng "video interview" sa akin. Ni refund naman nila yung sinend kong Bitcoin nung di ako nakacomply agad. Ang alam ko mayroon nga rin silang pang load.
Panigurado kahit anong option pa mahanap natin na basta crypto-related ay may lebel pa rin ng paghihigpit.
Malalaman ko sa darating na Lunes kung ako'y makakareceive pa ulit ng ganoong warning o notice. Cheesy
there is a signature campaign for jr members, see the signature campaign that I use. the minimum requirements to join the signature campaign are mostly members or full members, but now there are many sig campaigns that accept jr members
Unfortunately those aren't BTC-paying SCs. You'll get your reward at the end of the bounty. It's not that usual stuff that you'll earn something in the next coming week.
Members is the bare minimum for the BTC-paying SCs these days.
