2121  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Loan Advice on: August 05, 2021, 08:06:59 PM
~
Loaning to invest is primarily a bad idea. Even if that is a long-term loan, you're already risking that loan that you might or might not be able to pay in those years. Even if it is your parents and not a loan from strangers, it is still something you need to pay in the end. There are what ifs in this situation.
What if it just became a breakeven in all those years, how would you feel about it because surely you'll gonna pay all those loan back?
What if it were all losses? Nobody can predict the price of Bitcoin as what others mentioned in here.

You aren't greedy OP, but it is just way too unplanned that you're getting a loan just to invest. Take what o_e_l_e_o said. Invest from what you can get from your paycheck instead. Start from there.

Surely not all ATMs are gonna require you to do KYC, so you don't have to worry about having your information be at risk or anything.
Here in my country, BTC ATMs are quite rare to be honest since not many people still use it and most of it just buy it online with their cards. It is somehow beneficial for convenience of buying your Bitcoins, though I am not sure how fees would go.

Are these the Google Ads that pops up in the first in the search result that has "Ad" tag before the result itself? Not sure if this is gonna be a good news, because there has been a lot of frauds of those advertisement making people think that it is a legitimate website. I am pretty sure that even phishing site are sometimes included in those ads.

I kind of recall this thread where there is a fake Blockchain website. It will make people think that they are visiting their legit site.

2125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it wise to invest in nft art work? on: August 05, 2021, 07:38:24 AM
I haven't encountered any single NFT artwork just yet. Most of the NFTs that I encountered were mostly from games. It could be that there is this specific game item that people tend to buy with real life money and not just an in-game currency that mostly are bought through credit cards.

There is this one named Beeple that sold his painting for $69M. I am not sure if this is really worth the investment, but it is an amazing painting I  must say.

Not sure about #2, OP. What do you mean by not aware of market changes? Surely every investors are still looking into the price charts at least once a week making sure that their investments are going through. Not to mention that I had a bad habit of refreshing the price of Bitcoin before every 5 minutes and it is kind of a bad habit for me back then because it renders me unproductive.

It is nothing new now actually. Even 30k is still quite high for some long-term hodlers like me hodling since it was around 7k and heck it even crashes below 4k around 2018-2019. Here is hoping that it will get back to 64k again soon, but who knows anyway and who cares if it isn't just yet. It will take time.
2128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are MEME Coins A NEW Trend on: August 04, 2021, 08:16:58 PM

If there is something that memes could be powerful at in a product, it would be mostly those advertisements that slightly changes the image for their own originality. Cheesy
Now to avoid going off-topic about it, there are many meme coins surely that are just gonna be copy pasted or purely carbon copy of another meme coin just for surely quick pump and dump schemes for the public. Celebrities would hype it up and their blind followers would throw money into it.
2129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Increasing acceptance level - Cryptocurrency on: August 04, 2021, 08:14:04 PM
Same question as mk4, OP. More like how does the payment take place?
Do you all use a third-party app to transact for the ride or is it an LN?

Here in my country, some claim to accept Bitcoin payment but they use a custodial wallet which is not kind of what I expected on how other people adopt Bitcoin as an alternative payment method. Cheesy

It does not have to be a whole coin when one is looking to buy their first Bitcoins. Smiley
I started like around .001 BTC when I bought my first one and I did not regret buying it even if it was in smaller amounts.
It is just the simple demand and supply logic, but you are still allowed to buy Bitcoin <1. Smiley

As what Lucius said, you can through bounties and services. You will need to work your way up for it before you can earn a single satoshi.
Before you can even wear signature, you need to rank up, and for you to rank up, you need merits.

Felt bad for your friend being surrounded by these loan sharks. It is not your fault though, since you mentioned that you weren't able to stop your friend. In the end, if you can't persuade someone to stop doing it then that is where you stop trying to do it. I suppose that is an MLM scam, because that is quite common among friendship and even my closest friends tend to mention me that back in the old days.

People in other social media tend to say that trading would give you a lot in a day. Back when I learn day trading, there were many overhyped videos that tend to say that you would get more than 1 BTC in a day just by watching this video.
Because of those videos in Youtube, newbies tend to straight hop into day trading thinking that they will get rich really quick in that kind of strategy.

Actually that is another thing, the tempt to buy. For some shitcoins to do such airdrops, I am not even that motivated anymore to buy of what they airdropped to me since pretty much it is gonna get dumped by their investors after their project pushed through and get listed at the respective exchange that they enlist their shitcoin at.
2135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much of your total capital is in crypto? on: August 04, 2021, 05:40:48 AM

Actually I could have done the same in that year, if my misconception about crypto was cleared earlier. Not that I would think of any losses since it is only 1% anyway plus it is net and not gross. Surely I would crap bricks when I found out that I made a lot from that 1% investment.

At these days, I only do just 80/20 and inside that 20 is also divided for crypto, not that whole 20 will be to crypto. A man is gonna need something else for his wants of course. Smiley
2136  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did you first hear about Bitcoin? on: August 03, 2021, 08:05:08 PM
Many of the replies here are due to earning opportunities that Bitcoin can offer, while it was different for me. I first heard of Bitcoin due to my internet curiosity back around 2012-2013, due to how dark web works and I found out that Bitcoin is one of the currencies being used at that level of the web, though it was still a myth on if the layers of web below it exist. Moving on, I kept that misconception of Bitcoin being used only by criminals and I looked harshly into it not gonna lie. Until late 2017, one casual conversation with a friend brought up the "Bitcoin topic" and I was like "oh that is a primary currency used in dark web by criminals, right?" and he was like full no to me and advised me to research it more.
From that I did a research to clear up my misunderstanding about Bitcoin, and upon my first purchase of Bitcoin, I also registered here late 2017 as what you can see in my profile.

I, once again, became paranoid and ask if those "dark web users" are gonna be a thread for us Bitcoin hodlers in a thread here back in 2018. I locked the thread as it is irrelevant and it is just me being paranoid too much.

Same goes for BTCforJoe, I thought I was just tripping out or sleepy, then I had to stare at his avatar only to find out that it was indeed animated.
It's funny that he knows that the avatar will be stared at as well. Cheesy

I would not advise focusing a lot in airdrops during pandemic. Why not try to focus on finding a real job that would help your career push through which will surely lead you to your success? Airdrops are mostly now waste of time like the faucets, though faucets at least give a real satoshi unlike majority of the airdrops that just leave people in the dust and worse, phishing someone to steal their whole wallet. Oh and yeah, that came from my experience long time ago.

Aside from what others mentioned in here, why not just do your everyday life like usual without involving crypto? OP, I think you are overthinking about the bearish market coming. With that kind of overthinking, you are already jumping into conclusion of Bitcoin jumping to 100k and other "what ifs" situation/s. Don't risk your fiat to other alts, just by how Bitcoin is already more than 4 digits.  As what 20kevin20 mentioned, you don't need to own a full Bitcoin.

It does not matter if you can only afford .02 BTC. It is still Bitcoin regardless of its amount or even its equivalent to USD.

Well it is getting brought up still in some popular social media sites. I just logged in into my Facebook and there goes another Elon Musk related news. Doge is still pretty much getting the hypes there.
I would say here in the forum, he might not be popular or often mentioned as he was before, but in other spaces in crypto, he is still like someone being followed by a lot of investors.
