Why are these so expensive?
There is only one competitor on the market currently. I think the prices are right in line to be honest... it would always be nice to get them cheaper but I don't think there are any market forces that would push the mfg to get the price down at this point. So, less hashrate, less efficiency, need to provide your own controller, AND more expensive than the other competitor? Who's lining up to buy these? Bitmain has a 1 month lead time for the next batch of S7's, which is now rated at 4.05TH/s

I sold all my S7's and I am going with the Avalon 6 for a variety of reasons. 1 - USA distributer and warranty 2 - Try to buy an S7 - right now they have the batch 7 that are 4 Th and cost $1658 and is probably $1750 all said and done. 3 - S7 - $437.50/Th and the Avalon6 is $410/Th 4- Easily under clocked which means longer life. I think your facts are wrong. Oh yeah- 1 RasPi can control up to 40 Avalon6

An s-7 controller dies and 4.8th lost. A rasp pi dies and your spare pi with your spare sd card is put in. down time under ½ hour your rasp pi run 5 of these easy using 1 ethernet wire. _______________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________ The key to this gear is does it under volt and down clock. If it does it has staying power. I talked with kilo17 today he may be able to get these next week. It would be an order not a pre order. He seems legit I liked him. I will post more later. I would get one Maybe Valkir We will post reviews and details if all works well. I really want to see if it handles low volts. This psu https://www.trcelectronics.com/ecomm/pdf/rsp1500.pdfhttp://www.trcelectronics.com/View/Mean-Well/RSP-1500-12.shtmlthis psu http://www.trcelectronics.com/View/Mean-Well/HRP-600-12.shtmlhttps://www.trcelectronics.com/ecomm/pdf/hrp600.pdfboth on hand for undervolt tests

It can be resold and should be suitable for all current and future Avalon miners you stock. Like a PSU, its not consumed or proprietary, unlike an SP20 or S7 control board.

Also being able to go to a computer store or amazon one and have it next day or 2-3 days even is a huge bonus. A lot use custom controllers and its a huge pain to get a replacement quick, and you have down gear waiting on a cheap part. With the RPI you can replace it very easy. And easy to back up the image which is great aswell.

Hopefully in 10 - 12 days when I get one I can answer it. If I work with kilo17 and help sell to the forum members on this site they will be in hand and not preorders. He is getting a big batch and I would help him distribute them. This would be no MOQ as he will order big enough batches to satisfy MOQ. Markup will be very low. More to cover shipping and handling then to buy a few hundred at 1500 and sell them at 2200.

So on resell is that 2200 number you mention look like what they are planned on being sold for through Kilo?

I think the prices are right in line to be honest...
You think that the price, which is so high as to make it likely impossible to achieve RoI on these things at any electric cost greater than about 3 cents/KWH, is right in line? Dunno what you're smoking, but keep it away from me - it's making you halucinate. Original Blockc price was $1300, then they went to $1400, haven't bothered to look since then - it was way too expensive (worse so than any of the S7 varients) at $1300. I'm still in "wait and see what Lketc/BW.COM come up with for a price, and what the actual specs on their miner(s) end up being" mode, while Ocing my S5s and pushing my SP20 as hard as I can with the cooling weather to maximise income while Bitcoin prices stay high. I'm starting to think I might manage to RoI those miners ANd their PSes after all. 8-)

So on resell is that 2200 number you mention look like what they are planned on being sold for through Kilo? no to the resale at 2200 I said he is not buying a few hundred of them at 1500 looking to do a markup to 2200. He told me the markup would be for shipping and handling . So he won't be looking for 2200 to a USA based buyer. Now two weeks ago these opened at 1300 moq of 10. I would think that coins going ups so high has cause MOQ to stay at 10 but price to go to 1500. The new s-7 is 4 btc that is 1530 it won't ship for about 1 month. The ones kilo17 has purchased should arrive at his place in 10 days. So if I get one and test it in 12 -14 days and it is good the rest that he want to sell would ship in under 18 days so maybe a 2 week head start on the s-7 batch 6. We all know asic shipping is slow. Kilo17 has told me he did a purchase it is paid for so no funds are needed at this moment. I think kilo17 wants to sell off 4-6 of his shipment. we all know the game so if they come on time he sends 2 to me I send 1 to valkir. we hope they work as promised. I test and demo as does valkir. we move a few more out for a total of 4 to 6. If it all works well first time kilo17 wants to do a new buy and we do it a second time say 20 to him 6 to 10 for others. First 2 are here: 1)philipma1957 2)valkir put in a name no obligation or coins for now. 3) 4) 5) 6) more numbers if needed.
