I use Nicehash (Europe version) and have never had a problem. I just set up a worker just for Nicehash with a min diff of 128 to get the ball rolling. It currently at 33334 diff at 30TH. Runs 24/7. Should be jumping to 50TH soon. Are you using the bot?
Ah, that was the problem -- Westhash is for pools on this (U.S.) side of the pond :-) I switched to nicehash.com and slush seems to be working much better! No bot, yet. I'm still in training ... :-) Thanks! -dave

The nicehash order was auto-canceled too, after about a half an hour, saying "Action" Cancelled - placeholder order" with a link to their FAQ: Why was my order canceled (placeholders)? https://www.nicehash.com/?p=faq#faqb13Ah well, back to CKPool I guess thanks, -dave

Nice streak again!
Out of curiosity, do you guys split your hashes over different pools? I have about half on Slush and half on BTC Guild for now. I did like the consistently of Antpool (in terms of blocks being found), but with all of the DDoS issues they have been having recently, I've been staying way.
If by splitting on one device? No. I just set backup pools incase one or two have problems... I have 4 s3s on slush's and 4 s3s on kano's. Seems to be working out so far. Which pool has paid more since you started this method? With slush's I get ~.0035 per round. With kano I get ~.021 per round. I would like to point them all at kano's but I like the way they supplement each other.(Slush is a lot bigger than kano, so does more rounds per day.) So my agenda is to get more rigs instead.

Like the three blocks found in an hour period will balance out later on during the week or month.

Truth be told, you earn way more on slush on any average day than on kano.is I know th theory is "luck" evens out over the long term, but I am begining to believe luck increases the higher the pool hash-rate, and that does not seem to even out in the short to medium term.

That's not luck increasing, that's the result of higher hash rates. Of course a pool with high hash is going to find more blocks, that's math, not luck.

You speak with a hint of ignorance, at least in as far as I have been educated in the art of bitcoin mining. Pool luck is just that and, theoretically, not influenced by hash speeds / rates. That is borne out with the recent prevalence of solo mining "pools", i.e its a lottery! Maths may be the basis of the blockchain / algorithm, but luck decides determines who finds (and reports to the blockchain) "the block" first.

Call it what you want, it's still just math. There is no such thing as "pool luck", in fact there's no such thing as "luck" at all, it's something humans made up. A pool may "seem lucky" from time to time, but that's just math at work. You can check all the bitcoin code and you won't find luck in there anywhere, but you will find lots of math. Maths may be the basis of the blockchain / algorithm, but luck decides determines who finds (and reports to the blockchain) "the block" first.
Nope, no luck in play there either. Chance determines who reports first. You may call the finder "lucky", but luck had nothing to do with it (since it doesn't exist).

Is this still a good pool ?
It continues to payout. It has a community that helps develop it. So in my opinion yes it is a good pool.

So... Chance and luck are different things?
Of course! The word "chance" has gambling connotations, while the word "luck" is loaded with superstitious undertones :-) The only difference comes from the perspective of the person you ask. The generic term, the mathematical term, is probability. I guess the guy who thinks payout from different pools on different days are controlled by "chance" had a dad who played the ponies. While the guy who calls it "luck" had a mom who believed her horoscope, threw salt over her shoulder and knocked on wood for "good luck". My mom was an engineer -- I call it probability. thanks, -dave who *did* have step dad who played the ponies, and a grandmother who pitched salt -- so don't go getting all offended, now

This is strange. Been on this pool with almost a whole week with 7TH and only getting .05 return? All stats look fine. I would get at least .06 on Ghash. Is luck that bad now here? First time trying this pool out and my earnings have just dropped considerably.

Slush was the first pool I mined on a couple of years ago. I was surprised to see I had mined so much on it: 17.3981 BTC All Times RewardLooked back and was making .50+ BTC a day running those USB ASIC miners...awww those were the days

More semantics than anything of substance. Luck is the lay man's term for probability and has nothing to do with superstition. And chance, well, that's just luck!

It really shows just how fast the whole Bitcoin phenomenon has grown. You want to make 0.5 BTC a day mining now, you'd need about 46.5TH/s!
