I consider myself small..sub 20th. And i found this wonderful place. Need to find a way to educate the lemmings before they all walk off the cliff single file.

2.2% of the blocks in the network for that "Week" is damn good, considering kano.is has 1.8% of the network hash rate at present.

I just tweeted that saying, isnt it ironic that this article comes out just after it is announced that there has been block withholding going on. I guess most of their miners really are just hobbyists and do not frequent these boards.

I do wonder what the hell an "Almost Block" is?

Maybe it's those high diff shares that kano.is has been reporting since the pool started? ... within 1% of being a block, that I call "Unworthy"

Or now I also log within 5% of being a block and report them randomly in the kano.is thread ... ... ...

No idea how that makes a pool more transparent though ...

The so called "Captain" has obviously paid someone to do this article.  He's in "repair" mode to try to gain back a tarnished reputation.  I KNOW he reads this thread but doesn't have the balls to face his naive members.

Isn't an "almost block" nothing more than the miner's share difficulty?  The only way a pool has any idea of your hash rate and how much of the block reward you should receive is by tracking how many shares you submit.  Almost block... lol.

Jonny's Pool - Mine with us and help us grow!  Support a pool that supports Bitcoin, not a hardware manufacturer's pockets!  No SPV cheats.  No empty blocks.

sounds like slush is putting a band-aid on a broken leg.

First the issue of the stealing miner is swept under the rug, now he is adding these "almost blocks" sounds like another way for him to steal more money from his users by calling them almost blocks instead of stolen blocks from the "misconfigured" miner.

BTW where is the reimbursement to all the miners that had coins stolen from them from this supposed "misconfigured" miner.

o ya i know where it went.. right into slush's pocket.

It's a result of "almost mining", like "Oops, I was almost mining at slush until I did some actual research."

Many things to ponder here, but it's the little things that get me, like if the thread title can't bother to be updated with the pool hash rate in who knows how long, what does that say?  Says a lot to me.

when there is lower hash there is more blocks 5 / 7 a day

the thread title is there to let you know how much is being used for the withholding attack.

you'd think it would be in his best interest to just ban this guy altogether. i mean shit its at 50 ph and just doing horrible again.. like its at really 15 ph.  so slush still only making what he was then as he only gets paid per block.. all he is doing now is pissing off the community with his inability to run a pool.  its obvious the guy withholding is using a proxy and can just turn on and off. Hell what if in his code he only submits blocks that are just a fraction under the diff.  so slush stupid "almost blocks" solution wont really matter.. the with holder can easily write code to check bitcoind for the diff and only submit blocks if its under .05 % of the difficulty  .. its crazy that he would come out with such info and then allow the miner to continue what they are obviously still doing.. ahh well..many have been warned but when i check the stats page there are so many small miners left.. crazy to me..

https://mining.bitcoin.cz/stats/
thousands of small miners still with no clue? i tried to post on that article to bring light to this thread but they wont let it submit .. imagine that.. such a great democracy within bitcoin  Roll Eyes

heres what i posted on the bottom in the comment section.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1976.msg13804018#msg13804018
if you have time the real story is here.. not this bs! read thru the last 10 -20 pages on the bitcointalk thread starting at that link go forward but especially back when we started to worry about slush pool performance and he ignored us for months only for miners to lose their asses in mining income.!!"

Slush pool was my very first mining pool and I was on it for a good while. There has been many shady things in the past where miners did not get paid the right amounts, some got over paid, some under paid and a few times the blocks did not show up on the pool but people seen the pool found a block on Blockchain, but also many times when the pools hash rate jumped up the pool would quit hitting blocks. At first when some brought it up I did not believe them, but after so long a pattern starts to show that could not be ignored. Trying to get help on here from the operator was impossible. Needless to say I left.

This pool is so dry! 52 PH/s and hardly 2 blocks! Eligius with 9PH/s had more blocks! Its really frustrating that this SO called Captain is silent like a Russian KGB!
