Looks like I never had a disconnect from the server as my rewards never change. Smiley

If I had a disconnection, it was not noticeable at all.

Keep on mining my little miners.

Connection problems where in the middle of that long 7:40h round, so most miners should have recovered from it by the end of the round. My miner also switched to backup pool, but the reward for the round is as expected.

its about time people stopped whining. good for you guys! I suggest every n00b read all 711 pages of this thread before being able to post complaints against Slush or his pool. do some research please

Good idea! For those who are complaining, compulsorily.

For the others, who're going to ask a question:
Reading the first post and doing a simple search for the question topic to avoid endless repeating would help too. ;-)

HELLO,

What is going on with the SERVER???
Has anyone asked the slush pool owner?

Don't forget the Slush pool is on a different time than those of us in the US so at 0400 Slush pool time I would assume the owner is asleep. But maybe not and we post on here so fast when see something funny happening and over time, usually not very long really, it corrects itself somehow. By the time we flood the thread with posts it usually starts getting fixed. So they don't need to jump to repair for every short series of concerned posts we make.

Since I don't know how to set a backup mining site I'm stuck with what ever happens which is ok with me since everything does seem to get worked out on its own.

This is nothing against the question posted above by the member but thought it a good idea to remind everyone who forgot about the time difference. We n00bs have to stop being n00bs someday but for me seems it's going to be a long time from now. So much happens I've never seen before. LOL.  Roll Eyes

Why I like mining on slush

21478   2014-01-16 23:27:08   0:00:20   2784211        1680     0.01479891       280890    25.01347342    88 confirmations left
21477   2014-01-16 23:26:48   2:15:28   1344679965   471240   0.00814433           280889   25.05321188    87 confirmations left

Nearly got a double in reward from that block.

Damn, it got recalculated to a normal payout. Still for 20 seconds not complaining.
I never went down as I saw my expected reward double as pool hash went down to 350 here in the upper midwest USA using 8332.

For such short rounds the variance is over 50%.
It seems your miner have submitted 8 instead of the expected 6.66 shares (with target 20 shares per minute). For the same round my miner have submitted just 2 and my reward was 3 times lower than expected.
I think it's fair for rounds below 2-3 min to recalculate rewards proportionally, but wouldn't complain if they are not.

EDIT: 'proportionally' (for the round) is not the right term here as it will equal to the score reward - proportional for the last 5 min i.e. taking in account some time from the previous round will be more correct

I'm afraid any proportional recalculation breaks the statistics and should be avoided. There should be one and only algorithm that is fair and it should not be disturbed by any artificial interventions.

Setting up a 'backup pool' is simple. On the common mining software such as cgminer and bfgminer type [P]ool, then [A]dd, and enter the details of the pool.  These settings can be saved ([S ]ettings, [W]rite config file.  Saving the configuration remembers these settings so that they don't have to be manually reentered every time.  Different pool switching strategies can be selected as well.  The mining software monitors which of the pools on the list is 'alive'.

Cheers
