Unthinkingbit is the one who handled the bounties. I was discussing this with someone else via PM, though, and I think it may be best to allow him to clarify. We actually have a bounty list... somewhere... that has all of the current bounties. Past that, I am not really sure what classifies as being something that can be accepted.
The list: http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin_bounty_now

And welcome to the community; I want to apologize if you felt my post was being rude. Feel free to ask anything you need to know and we'll try to help out the best we can, . Don't worry about it, your post did not seem rude in the least to me. I don't even know the terminology here yet. What it looks like to me is that there are two separate parts of the devcoin project here. There may be some confusion here about it, at least on my part. The bounty list is one thing, and then there is a more general part where developers of "open source" ( I personally prefer the term Free Software) projects can get a share of 80% of devcoins. My original post was intended to address the second part. I did see a bounty project with which I may be able to help, and I'm planning to look into it. Thanks for the welcome, Mark

If your plugins are open source, you should get devcoins. To get them you must make a project page and/or a discussion thread where you discuss your accomplishments. On the share list: https://raw.github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/master/bitcoinshare.htmleveryone has a link to their project, and/or discussion thread. If a developer actively develops open source of any kind, they can apply to get a share of devcoin generation by messaging Metazilla through the bitcoin forum, or by posting in the devcoin thread
I wrote that a long time ago, when the thread had few posts. Because this thread is now busy, in future people should only contact Metazilla; I'll remove the part about posting in the devcoin thread. Since that is what the page said, it's no problem that you posted here, and indeed if you want to talk about devcoin, post here again.

I found no information about what the final mined amount of Devcoins will be? Is there a final limit?

I suggest 24 shares for any open source toy. Also, if people suggest a particular toy that they want, and there are no objections, then a 48 share bounty could be offered. 48 shares is enough to get a simple toy, but not enough for a complicated toy. Any objections, or should something be changed?

The admin of CEX.IO has replied to me via email and said they will add DVC/BTC trading when enough people have requested it. To get DVC/BTC trading on CEX.IO (which is an exchange which has pretty high volume) please complete the following steps: 1.) register for http://cex.io2.) Go to this link https://support.cex.io/entries/28554767-Convert-NMC-IXC-DVC-to-BTC3.) Click vote for this feature 4.) You can also submit a support ticket requesting they add DVC/BTC trading asap! Done! Great work everyone Anyone else who is reading this and wants to get DVC/BTC trading on a very, very large exchange (CEX.IO) please complete the above steps! Takes ~2 minutes.

I've created an online ticker-type website for devcoin against the dollar for the chart bounty. 18 shares for a chart which shows the price of devcoins in USD. The chart should show prices from at least 3 months in the past. http://dvcticker.bugs3.com/I am wondering how I can automatically create a javascript chart or excel file to record the prices hourly or daily. (e.g. the chart automatically updates each hour based on site data) I will give 5 shares from the bounty if you can assist me! (maybe more, too!) Funny timing...I've been playing with Excel and importing various exchange information into them so I can determine a good arb. One solution: 1. In Excel (I use the most recent Office) click on Data on the toolbar. 2. On the left, click "From Web" and enter the URL of an exchange. I've not been able to import some sites, like Coinex (no DVC, but a good example) and mcxNOW (now dead to DVC). Every other DVC exchange that I know of works fine (cryptsy, crypto-trade, cryptocoincharts, vircurex). Cycle through the prompts you're given. 3. To organize, choose an empty cell and use the following formulas: a. To retrieve the ticker symbol "=LEFT(Cryptsy!A15,3)" [LEFT tells Excel to start from the left of the cell in tab "Cryptsy" starting in cell A15 and responds with the first 3 characters.] b. To retrieve text from the middle "=MID('BTC-e'!A24,5,3)" [Here I'm reading a mid character, from sheet BTC-e, cell A24, starting with the 5th digit, returning 3 characters. BTC-e data pulls differently than Cryptsy and Coinex.] c. To retrieve the last price "=RIGHT(Cryptsy!A15,10)" [Returns the leftmost 10 characters.] After adding the formulas, cut and paste them into a different tab. I just created tabs for the exchanges and then BTC, LTC, DVC, etc. The reason is that when you refresh your data, anything else on that sheet will be purged. So that's why you see my examples above with tab names instead of just cell names. After doing the above steps, you can see all the prices in a convenient location representing the different exchanges at a glance. You can set refresh to auto or manual. You *can* save it as an html or pdf output, but it won't keep your formulas. Let me know if I need to clarify anything.

I want Psybits, who is the devcoin advertising admin, to run a big devcoin ad campaign. It would start with six shares directly run by Psybits, plus the authority to hand out up to six shares of awards to people who advertise devcoin independently. For the campaign run directly by Psybits, there would have to be a post or page with a receipt for the most expensive part of the campaign, it doesn't have to be a full cost breakdown. If this goes well, the next round this would be doubled to 12 shares for the campaign and bounties. In the long run the total would further increase as the marketing shares increase, last round they were around 26: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=233997.msg3546083;topicseen#msg3546083Any objections, or should something be changed?

I second this. I agree too - it would be a pleasure The more we can get the word out about Devcoin the better. EDIT: 12 shares from the start would mean I have more resources to devote to the advertising campaigns. I suppose I am a little biased, but this is my humble suggestion.

Agreed, once the pieces of the web wallet code finished we can get a proper web wallet up. I will go ahead and add it to my hosting if it all works as planned.

I'll agree with the 6 share deal for now. If things go well as a result of the campaign, I'd be all on board for increasing it. I'd say that the 6 shares would be a great trial run to see how it all works out and we will go from there.

+1 Would it also be worth setting up or at least outlining a simple process for adding an option to pay or donate by devcoin as part of that campaign (a payment button/using 'coinpayments' for example)? Ranlo made a good point to me that if this is going to work in greater numbers there needs to be visibility and incentive both ways - i.e. devcoins for developing & developers in turn highlighting payment in dvc - which keeps the cycle of interest in getting devcoins going and means Devcoin can do more.

Ive accepted Psybits offer as a campaign writer so I will be working under his guidance to write articles for devcoin. Psybits just give me the work and I will write it out for you. We can even have like a 5 part series with the basics of blockchain currencies for noobs to economic forces of mining bounties etc and work are way in describing how devcoin provides market advantage.. this will help greatly bring in investors and like minded developers who love the concept but werent sure of the viability of the way devcoin is structured.

My offer was for helping me with the writing for Bitcoin PR Buzz generally (which is a different project) - I am sorry for the confusion here but in my PM I clearly stated I wanted you to write for Bitcoin PR Buzz if it interested you - but that idea sounds good too The 6 shares of marketing funds will go into Press Releases and cost per click campaigns primarily (at least 1 Press Release per month and as many clicks as possible that can be bought with the remainder of the DVC from the shares). This targeted cost per click traffic will bring us many new Devtome writers, investors and enthusiasts. EDIT: If the marketing fund ever gets large enough we can also run Google Adwords campaigns. Depending on the value of the shares in this round I may be able to do this next month
