Hello everyone.

I'm a cryptocurrency enthusiast. I heard about DVC, like 3-4 weeks ago, when I joined the crypto world.
I've made a lot of fiat within those 3-4 weeks, but how? I always joined forums to get informed. -You don't have a forum

Heard many people saying that DVC is a scam-coin. That's the only reason I didn't want to buy any DVC. Explain to people what DVC is, make them care about open source projects. Everyone likes free stuff, yes?

I want to help.

Here are some suggestions I have in my mind:

1) Make your own forum. - I'll pay hosting for 1 year.

2) Rebuild the website. It looks like a amateur made it. It's too damn static. ( Sorry, not trying to offend anyone )

3) Start promoting it via youtube, spread the word and convince people to take a little risk, by putting 1 dollar in DVC and follow its progress for just one week. Make people believe that DVC is here to stay for a long time. ( Which is true. )

4) The fact that people who write articles get DVC for their effort, it's really nice. But not enough to help the coin get a better position in the crypto world. All together, let's think how we can introduce DVC to the masses.

That's all from me for now.
Hope you didn't got bored reading this.

Sorry for my English. I'm not from English speaking country.

I just bought : 146794.77092241 DVC. I'm going to help as much as I can, because I appreciate open source.

Who is the owner of Devcoin.org? Please contact me.

Peace,

https://twitter.com/Debunker89

Countdown clock - all it needs is a spreadsheet link, could probably just be added to smeagols dvc price site:
Using an old start point for calc: In A1 enter '12/05/2013  21:50:00' (date formatted, this is GMT for ref if want to be specific). In A2 enter current DVC Block. In A3 (also date formatted as above) type =A1+((120000-89150)/((A2-89150)/(NOW()-A1))). Right now that gives 31/12/2013 10:24 GMT

I can't run the daemon since I don't have a VPS, so if I did do it I would have to grab the data from somewhere else.
Fair enough. I didn't assume you'd need to run the daemon because due to the dynamic nature of the generation rate there'd be times when the countdown clock would be a countup clock. So just pulling in the block count daily via vircurex as a data point, in addition to existing pulls, seems enough.

I agree with you. Devcoin has the big problem that it is not accessible to newcomers. Instead it demands from people a high understanding and geeky knowledge to even do simple things.
Newcomers are often left alone, without guidance how to do even the simplest task.

People have no place to just talk and ask the "stupid" but necessary questions all beginners have.

Devcoin on youtube is a desaster. If you type in devcoin in youtube you get the impression that devcoin has something to do with a pothead and a paid hooker, ... not good.

Devcoin has a barrier that must come down so that new people will get curious. Now it has a wall without door in front of them.

I mean look at the people in this forum, they talk about ATM machines, while the website is a desaster... Wrong priorities if you ask me.

Thank You.

Now, look how silly this thing is :  Go at http://devcoin.org/   Press CTRL+F, put "forum''.
What do you find? 2 results. One is about the pool forum, another is '' BitcoinTalk.org Forum '', which is a dead link.

How are people supposed to know where forum is? I wouldn't know now if you didn't tell me.

If you people really want DVC succeed, start making the site from the scratch.

If Devacoin was pumped and dumped, it has been made already. The coin is now stable and restarted rising. Now is the time to start accumulating more Devacoins as it is still cheap.
The dumps are just opportunities to get cheap coins, not threaths. Personally I bought more Devadcoins as it went a bit down.

However, now the sun is shining again and it has only one way: UP to the North !!!

The long term estimated rate is around 0,001-0,01 BTC and now the trip has restarted after a few hours break. Personally I slept during these hours with some buy orders that were filled.  Cool Smiley

Thanks for the reply,I have used that one but for whatever reason it wouldn't open when installed, perhaps a antivirus thing,i'll download to another pc and see what happens ,many thanks
A few suggestions:
1) Checked that it's not being blocked by your firewall?
2) Tried running the exe as administrator? (I know when I first downloaded it, for some reason because it was so new my av tried to sandbox and stall it, so maybe that would over-ride any program blocking it)
3) You sure it's not minimised in the tray? (can change that via settings)

The admin of CEX.IO has replied to me via email and said they will add DVC/BTC trading when enough people have requested it.

To get DVC/BTC trading on CEX.IO (which is an exchange which has pretty high volume) please complete the following steps:

1.) register for http://cex.io

2.) Go to this link https://support.cex.io/entries/28554767-Convert-NMC-IXC-DVC-to-BTC

3.) Click vote for this feature

4.) You can also submit a support ticket requesting they add DVC/BTC trading asap!
DONE!
Go people go! Devcoin is so underrated novadays.

Reposting one last time (as people seem to be looking for it): if anyone hasn't completed the above steps it takes ~2 minutes and means Devcoin will get on a big exchange and increase even more in value! It'll be added there at some point anyway but we can speed up the process Wink

Cheers for suggestions.

1) There's a bounty for a forum http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin_bounty_now#forum There's an interim forum for now thanks to 'fuzzybear' (devcointalk.org), but plan is for something more comprehensive that will also address spamming and trolling.

2) I think that's under discussion/plan.

3) There's a recent initial devcoin intro video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xE4whwzRmQ0 and a bounty for another quality one http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin_bounty_now#animation The issue with promotion is that efforts were hampered in the past with, let's say, over-zealous proponents so I think everybody's trying to build awareness and interest more gradually this time.

4) It's not just writing http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=earn_devcoins_by_developing and the underlying whole point of devcoin is to spread that whole core idea of payment for work and development to other areas. The more people, ideas, skills and market cap involved the more that can be done. I agree though on the point about the masses. Whether people like it or not, devcoin is a concept that could have a very very wide appeal - and I think it should because it's a win-win.

As somebody else put it recently, there are much better coins than devcoin for purely speculative purposes. In effect by stocking up on devcoin you're supporting a wide range of development projects - not just devcoin ones - and helping to build a future network of reward for working.

Yes, clearly.

I already mentioned this exact problem a few pages ago in this thread.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=233997.msg3949363#msg3949363

But no one seems to take me seriously with that matter...

So either there is no webmaster for devcoin.org, or he is asleep or not responding, or it's simply not getting thru to him, or he doesn't care, because he's dreaming about ATM machines.

Everybody takes you seriously, it's clear the portal needs work. I was just inferring from this post and from many comments such as yours (and mine) highlighting the need: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=233997.msg3969597#msg3969597

This is the best place to discuss until there's a devcoin-specific forum or site that meets all the criteria necessary to work well.

Until quite recently efforts were forcused on the varying projects funded, rather than necessarily the public awareness medium. So for example a number of open source projects have been regularly funded for a long time, clients developed, devtome grown, bounties offered and worked on etc. Unlike many other cryptos, there wasn't a pool of pre-mined devcoin to easily channel into stuff - nor the market liquidity to facilitate easy constant exchange for those most able to fund without undermining it - and I think the initial developers are themselves open source developers busy with getting a number of things done across cryptos and elsewhere.

That has changed. Interest is growing, there's greater liquidity, devtome is now a revenue positive project and growing, the number of bounties offered and completed are rising with it all, and more people like you and me have ideas and suggestions.

though I think it's a not so hard task, maybe 10 or 12 shares are enough.

After Weisoq's post:

I agree that it's not so hard, so I suggest 12 for the first person to accomplish it, and 6 for the second.

http://dvccountdown.blisteringdevelopers.com/

If that's acceptable for any bounty, my address is: 1LHVxAkzcN8BzSdrT7J2W3CCpiz5Rgj72E

Edit 1: Hmm although I seem to be getting a different time to you lot - looks like I had a local time in there...fixing atm

Edit 2: Nope I'm not seeing why I'm getting a different ETA. At this present moment it's 15th Dec 14:04 UTC, there are 2106 blocks to go (120,000 - 117894), which is 21,060 minutes to go = 351 hours converts into 14 days and 15 hours. Going by this, the target date and time should be the 1400 on the 29th of Dec plus 15 hours, or 30th December at 0500. I think I'm correct.

Yup, DVC is the investment # 1 on this and next year.
I believe the price will adjust to the new levels quite soon so if you want to get the cheap DVCs, please hurry up - the cheap Devas are limited offer!
I am in buying mood and I will keep it until it hits the target and then I will re-calculate it.
This will be something big and it will make many early ones rich.
