However, that a single call leads to 2 placements (exact same) was not encountered by us before.

You message wasn't precising that you hadn't placed erratic orders before.
Yeah if you really placed 1 order and it got there twice, that's new.

Perhaps it has happened before and we didn't notice it, assuming it was one of the erratic orders that passed. Hard to know, since it's rare for the first order placement to succeed.

I agree, it is rare that orders directly succeed in being placed in a single call.
We have a very specific log, and in a few cases there were orders which went through without having to use additional calls, still the orders were placed twice. So, we are very sure that double placement was not caused by additional calls for those orders, but that double placement was caused by an error on Kraken's side. Atm, it seems though that we do not have this issue anymore today.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

There's so much difference in price for BTC between Kraken & other platforms now.. Kraken lists it 200eur lower.

Proof that it has to do with their engine being broken: I placed a buy order at 6060eur (by miracle, no error), while there was clearly enough at 6060 in the order book. Yet it took over a minute to pass. The price goes down artificially because people can't buy.

Yeah i have noticed the price difference and swings also.  This can happen though and other day i got a better price at kraken on a sale vs other exchanges so got to take the rough with the smooth.  Agree if the trade engine was faster it would help.

... Agree if the trade engine was faster it would help.

And if the error rate would be lower.

Update on error rates which we sometimes post here:

On 100 orders to be placed:
5 Eservice unavailables
3 Eservice: Busy (Kraken's new we dont have the capacity to offer decent service type of error?)
Total calls 100 + 5 + 3 = 108

Eservice unavailables: 5/108*100%= 4.63%  (previous 40.84%)
Eservice Busy: 3/108*100%= 2.78%  (Previous 33.21%)
48/108 Unknowns aka 44.44% of total calls

Total error rate = (5 + 3 + 48)/108*100% = 51.85% (surely an improvement from previous Tot. error = 83.21%)

So, we have less Eservice unavailables and Eservice Busy errors, however the percentage of calls leading to the unknown order type have increased. And let's be honest. An error rate of over 50% is unacceptable, even more when it has to be presented as improvement to the previous published error data.

even though the choice of words in the previous post is a bit over the top, srry jenifive, but on the other side very much understandable for users to react like this. We would like to sustain the previous post with some numbers on our latest error rates:
On 100 orders to be placed:
17 Eservice unavailables
5 Eservice: Busy
Total calls 100 + 17 + 5 = 122

Eservice unavailables: 17 /122*100%= 13.93%  (previous 4.63%%)
Eservice Busy: 5 /122*100%= 4.10%  (Previous 2.78%)
67/122 Unknowns aka 54.92% of total calls  (Previous44.44%) - (roughly 80% of the unknowns were not placed, we would need to take a closer look at our logs to preset exact data here)

Total error rate = (17 + 5 + 67)/122*100% = 72.95% (surely NOT an improvement from previous Tot. error = 51.85%)

Aka Service close to non-existing

Email verification is needed for each new withdrawal address or bank account.

Kraken is pretty much the only exchange I have used without a hitch (Coinbase was hopeless), but due to things like this and fees and them not accepting gbp anymore I have to sell in usd which then adds a $60 fee when I want to withdraw, so I'm just going to sack exchanges off completely and try sell my coins for either straight cash or direct bank transfer.

Hi hilariousetc! The quickest and most cost efficient method for you to fund your Kraken account from the UK is to navigate to Funding > Deposit > EUR and select "Fidor Bank AG (SEPA)". You can send Euro from a UK bank via SEPA transfer as your bank should be able to convert GBP to Euro before sending. These funds will be credited to your account as Euro which is our most liquid market.

For more information on the costs to you please read through: https://support.kraken.com/hc/en-us/articles/201396777-What-are-the-deposit-fees-

Do you know that you are the slowest exchange I ever saw, even EtherDelta much faster.
Do you know what your clients think about your exchange?
Why dont you do anything?
How it is to be the fucking worst exchange on Earth and do nothing with this?
Is it too difficult to make fast response exchange when you have volume 100Millions$ per 24 hours?
You give this fucking page https://status.kraken.com/ for your clients and say that in good days we have 1-1.2 ms response and it is very good. Really? WTF? It is sucks. Even in your best day when you have only one order to be placed without any load you are the slowest exchange on Earth.
Kraken will die soon if you will not change your connection because no one wants to lose money because of impossibility to create or close orders.

....

Maybe their presented volumes are as much of a lie as their false claim/promise to be the "Best Bitcoin Exchange" in order to intentionally mislead customers/clients?

I mean.... high volumes attract customers, the promise of being the "best", can have the same effect. Mentioning advanced order types, whereby those were removed until further notice due to degraded performance. All of these claims by Kraken on their service, and none of them is true.

But worst of all.. Not mentioning performance issues to new customers on their main website, so they all fall into the same trap.

I mean this is such a joke of an exchange, having problems is understandable but not being able to fix them in such a big amount of time is ridiulous, due to the fact on this ridiculous exchange you can't manage to put an order the prices are always so different compared with Bitfinex and Gdax like all the time (unlike Kraken these are real time exchanges, Kraken is good if you missed the action and you want to see it in a rerun though - a very slow, laggy and cringey rerun), I mean no offense but if you guys are so incompetent just ask Bitfinex and Gdax to help you out - go on them and ask them to buy you because you are incompetents and you have no idea about how to properly run an exchange, they manage way larger volumes than you guys and I never hear people complaining about Bitfinex.

Kraken, any projections on when the API will start responding in reasonable time? Several months in unusable state is rather long.
