No absolutely not in my view, because if you are true cricket supporter you will not called him waste of time and you will not be bored watching test cricket match, in this format player abilities has been examined if they were classy player they will perform because most of the player failed to perform in this format, and it's the real format of Cricket, you mostly know that when cricket start the first and real format for cricket was test format, after the T20 and ODI format introduce in the cricket world. Very few know the real cricket. The test format cricket shows who is the best cricketer. If have got difference scoring 220 runs in 20 overs and 300 runs in 90 overs. To stand against the bowler is different than go hit, if success it is run if not it is a wicket. Very few understand well and we should not indulge them to follow it. @ZAINmalik75 It’s not about being an avid cricket fan or not. It’s about keeping up with the world. Which the ICC has obviously failed to do. And, tell me one thing, who are on Earth right now has a job or even a student who needs to get his studies done, are willing to sit there and watch it is too much for five whole days? No one. The point I’m trying to make is that you can be a passionate cricket fan but at the same time, you need to value your precious time. I think that's my point of view, at least in regard to that test match. Even a decade ago Test matches were given utmost importance. Now it is no longer considered at that way. As the needs of the people of the present age have changed, major changes have been observed in every sector. It's not just that viewership has dropped also Cricketers don't value Test cricket that much. But everyone must agree that Test cricket was a platform to build a cricketer's foundation. Those who did well in Test cricket did well in all formats of cricket. Test cricket should be given importance along with ODI and T20 cricket. Even if the number of Test cricket is greatly reduced, ICC should be kept it in every series so as not to lose the rhythm of cricket. I believe that both arguments are valid in this scenario, because while I grew up watching test matches and yes I did watch all 5 day’s and yet enjoyed it but currently I no longer can watch full test matches as I’m addicted to quicker results. Lastly time’s are changing and saving test and ODI format is not the need of the hour, due to T20 so many cricketers get employment, fame and thus I personally feel that we should move on from test matches and focus more on ICC T20 tournaments.

There is no doubt that cricket has not adapted to the world around it. There is usually a time limit for most other games. But in the case of cricket, the time limit is not a major issue. It is for this reason that cricket is also suffering a lot at the moment. The problem with cricket is that it cannot be played on a time-based basis. Likewise, I agree that it is time for us to move on to shorter formats of cricket and not worry about the test format anymore. Honestly, I do not know why test cricket is still a thing. I also think that test cricket is going to be far more interesting. If it is reduced to probably three days, and one inning will have only 90 overs max.

In terms of popularity, cricket short forms are more interested. Because of this, T20 and ODI formats are more profitable with the number of visitors. Now a days some countries are not agreed to play cricket they just consider it is time waste game, this is the main reason for cricket not to flourished all the world. The same case behind the people of Test cricket today. However, it is not possible to say what will happen in future. However, Test cricket is very important to create a real cricket player. If the new generation doesn't want it or there is no demand, this Test cricket can be extinct in the future.

Right now, as things are going we have no time for the T20 matches as well because I check mostly peoples just check updates and spending their time for their other activities which are more important very few peoples are having time for watching all complete games because life is going difficult day by day due to many factors and things are not easy for many like us those are fighting hard for survival while things are going in decline and many big companies are cutting jobs and having other problems as well. With this all right now most chances we will have all three formats in progress because ICC will never take any chance for cutting things which bring mess up for hem but hopefully after 10 to 15 years we will have just seven or eight teams in test matches with nearly 20 to 24 will be able to stay into T20 and ODI will also fight hard for survival because things looking not good for this format as well.

Really! You watch 5 days. For me this is really difficult. As I said in my previous post addiction can lead us to do this and you also mentioned that. And this is good that you are now decreasing your addiction. And you are right in your confess too. We should move to T20 matches and I personally enjoy much the T20 matches instead of test matches.

During the late 90s and early 2000s, I used to watch a lot of test matches. Back then I was a student and had lots of free time. And also, we didn't had much options. International cricket was played by 8-9 countries and there were no franchise leagues. The situation has completely changed in the last 2 decades or so. We have much more options to chose from. Now at any given point, 2-3 international matches and close to half a dozen franchise league matches will be ongoing at the same time. Two decades ago we didn't had this choice.

The ICC has already auctioned rights for the 2023 and 2027 ODI World Cups, so the 50-over format is not going to go away anytime soon. But it is getting increasingly irrelevant and will become even more so after this year, as the ICC has shelved the ODI Super League. It signals their intention to concentrate more on T20 rather than ODI. ODI Super League added some meaning to the otherwise boring bilateral ODI series. Now it is gone, and the ODI matches will be less interesting. I don't think that there is a bright future ahead for the ODI format, especially after 2027.

The 50-over format is still good and if someone can find the time to watch the whole match I can certainly say that he will be able to see some good skills. Which we generally do not see in T-20 cricket. And I do not think that One Day cricket is going anywhere any time soon. Because even test cricket is still alive. So One Day cricket still does have a good amount of time. But I think the amount of time needed to play One Day International cricket must be reduced. I think at least they need to bring it down to 40 overs. Because it is almost impossible in this day and age to watch a cricket match for seven hours.

T20 is the main reason people are loosing interest in linger formats like ODI and test format . ODI format Is very interesting to watch and cricket fans watch all seven hours of game . Yes test cricket is longer and difficult to follow in this time . People usually follow the scores and stats and get to know about their team.

What is the point in brining it down to 40 overs? Then why can't it be further reduced to 20 overs and make the same as T20? Nowadays people don't have 7 hours spare time to watch ODI cricket. Reducing the duration to 6 hours (40 overs) won't help much. The best thing to do is to shelve this format and just keep the T20 as the sole limited overs version. For the traditionalists, we have the 5-day version of cricket. There is no need to complicate cricket by having half a dozen different formats. Let's keep it simple and stick to just two formats - T20 and test.

I do not know what you are trying to keep test cricket alive. If you have an issue with watching a cricket match for seven hours, how can you find time to watch a cricket match for five days? That is just not making sense to me. I think the best idea is going to be getting rid of test cricket and only keeping the T-20 cricket format and reducing the One Day International cricket overs. It can be, 30– 40 or anything in between. I think that is the best approach for now. For me, getting rid of the ODI format and keeping the T-20 and Test format does not make any sense at all.

ODI format and t20 format are very different. Because in T20 format you have to collect runs very quickly. On the other hand, in the ODI format, the batsmen have to survive and build big runs gradually. I do not know what you are trying to keep test cricket alive. I have also seen some test matches where there were so much competition and those were enjoyable. But in recent times the trend of the generation is now towards short form. For this reason short form cricket T20 matches are available almost throughout the year. If the international matches are not held then the franchise T20 leagues of different countries are available one after other. There is still interest in the ODI form but I doubt of its existence in the future.
One day match won't be end soon. If we think about future then the 50 over game may change a bit. Because people are getting busy day by day. The patience of sitting for 7-8 hours will be very difficult for the new generation. But we all know that there will be no change in the present time. Such discussions have been around for a long time in Test cricket as well. So, there will be no change in ODI cricket soon. Cricket is not gaining popularity in Europe today only because cricket is a long time game. Due to which the popularity of short form cricket is increasing.

In my opinion that all formats having its own entertainment factor, and you can't skip this all quickly with check ICC already having auctions and things will be gone as they are working even I have feeling we will have few changes in coming years, but it's not going to happen very quickly it needs long time with most chances we will have good popularity in T20i and other formats will be reduced with few countries and just with one or two events yearly or like FIFA World Cup for every four years. But, no one going to skip these all as it needs for the business purpose with many franchise leagues will be in but most chances few will be recognized as top like we have in UEFA because commercialism is surely coming and life is going very fast but still can't do changes drastically.

Its very unfortunate that a game that originated from Europe hasn't good any attraction there. With introduction of T20 format the test and ODI are losing interest of people. Test can be there because it is what cricket is about but running two formats i.e. T20 and ODI side by side wont be much beneficial in long run.

Pakistan vs New Zealand, 1st ODITomorrow will be another competitive match between Pakistan and New Zealand. Two Tests were held between them, both were finished in draw. Betting sites shows Pakistan ahead but I can't say New Zealand is weak in any way. I think the Pakistan team is slightly favored to play at Pakistan's home ground. But that can not be a big distance. But since both the teams have good cricketers, it is difficult to say who will win.

Only having the matches in home ground does not grantee that they will win the ODI matches or the series. Just Remember that only the bad light saved the last test match, otherwise Pakistan had lost that one too. For those who want to bet on the ODI match, i would suggest them to wait and see how the team perform in the first match. Based on that, a more comprehensive bet can be placed in 2nd ODI.

Each format of cricket have got its importance. With test format cricket, it is the pure form of cricket which is the parameter to know the real ability of a cricketer. ODI is something different where the player has to be very precise in his/her gameplay. With T20 format cricket it is like a gamble, because in no time the match scenario changes. I know that test cricket has the most amount of scale among any other formats of cricket. But I am not going to waste my time watching test cricket for five days, especially when I might not even see a result. Anyway, that’s my opinion.
Right now, the popularity of cricket is not too bad in my opinion. And that’s why I don’t think too many changes are going to be applied. Except for the test format. Test cricket is not very appealing right now for the viewers. I think test cricket needs some serious changes. Otherwise, it is eventually going to die out and nothing will be able to be done.
