Thank you  "RDO" for your contribution inside PBA, one of the simplest player, the version of big tree of TNT (Alapag, RDO, Castro)

Yeah, I miss this one, when these 3 plays together in the floor, they are very effective.
RDO is not a kind of a strong and a fast player but his intelligence in the court is very impressive.

I just search in YT and found his top 10 plays.
I'd like to share - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S51IqOzA_fY

RDO if not the best but surely he is one of the best stretch four the PBA ever had. His style of play really suited in the PBA and as well as in the international games like the FIBA because of his deadly outside shooting. It's just unfortunate that this last few years of his career was hounded by injuries which is not good way to end a career.

Anyways, thanks to RDO for bringing excitement to the PBA. You always give a good fight whenever you are in the floor. Happy retirement to you.

He deserve to be honored as he contribute a lot to the success of the TNT.
I only started watching him when he was already playing with the TNT, I don't know what team he played before but I guess he was noticed more being a TNT.

Ranidel de Ocampo announces retirement

I know he's been in a rough time playing this past 2 years with the Meralco as his being prone into the injury.

Here are all "RDO" accomplishment:
- Officially retired at a 16-year PBA career.
His not getting any younger and He contributed enough for that 16 years margin in Professional basketball career.
RDO is one of the toughest under the ring and had shown His best over the years so for me i salute him and welcoming to the Outside the court career.
He may be stepping out the professional league but i think he will accept offers outside .Wishing Him luck and GoodHealth.

He will be miss, the stellar of his career was when he was playing wit the TNT.
RDO is just a great player, he is a clutch one and he has a great contribution in international games also.

Hopefully he save and invested a lot so he can fully enjoy his retirement.
He is one of the big man who are great in 3 point shooting.
He's one of those few big man who can score from both inside and outside, with his very smooth type of game seems so easy when he take his shots.
Being part of Gilas is an achievement to any players so he really have a great career way back. The time for him to move and enjoy his private life for sure he have businesses that can support his retirement.

He deserve to be honored as he contribute a lot to the success of the TNT.
I only started watching him when he was already playing with the TNT, I don't know what team he played before but I guess he was noticed more being a TNT.

He was drafted by FedEx Express back in 2004 (fourth over-all) and played there for 4 years if i'm not mistaken. He was traded to TNT in exchange with Allado. His career blossomed with the MVP group of companies, particularly in the TNT team.

Basketball is so simple with this guy. He and Castro played good basketball together with TNT, it's just unfortunate that SMC companies always win the battle with MVP.

Thanks for the information, maybe back 2004 I was not so interested with watching PBA because there's no crypto betting yet, I was only active when I began betting in crypto sites so that's where I started to noticed RDO.

It's unfortunate to see that he announce his retirement in midst of the pandemic disease since he deserve a good appreciation for the outstanding career and for the honor of the country for playing on Gilas, but anyways he doesn't getting younger anymore maybe he will step out on hardcourt and will still have any position on PBA or maybe on the MVP group since for sure his presence still a good boost for the team which select him to work on.

Well, he has some reasons why he chose to retire.
- His contract with the Bolts has expired already after the last conference and until the time he didn't announced his retirement, there is no call for him telling that his contract will be renewed.
- He is prone to his injuries also and he can be a burden to his team if he continues to play as he stated.

He is one of the best stretch big in PBA History. He can shoot in front of you even your arms is right in front of him. He is good in three and in the perimeter. Maybe this is is time though and we can't see anything about him this last year. Kudos to him. He can also be a part of the management if he wants so he can share his experience with this young athletes Cheesy.

That last statement can proceed, he have lots of experienced to share with newcomers, if the MVP group sign him as one of those training staff or part of coaching staff he can contribute and bring additional knowledge to form a much stronger team.
Looking forward to hear more updates from him after this retirement.

Yeah it's unfortunate but seems his body is not on his side at this time since he's aging and might that's totally burden for a team if they will let him sit on bench, But still decision still good so might provably he will get a contract outside the court since as we know he have a great experience where he can share by teaching the young legs.

Not a bad call from him, he did great things, and for sure he already earned a lot of money. He must be tired, or because he got the chance to look what he must do with himself beside playing basketball, in this time of lockdown. He can be a coach or a trainer he is trustworthy, and reputable man on the league though.

For the team, I guess there were no regrets or what since they have know the spot for new younger players now. Not to mention, those batang gilas except Kai, lol he's probably going all down to international league.

We can check RDO's stats in here https://basketball.realgm.com/player/Ranidel-De-Ocampo/Summary/28902

As you can see, his stats during his time with the Meralco bolts has reduce, due to the fact that he only played limited minutes and that is brought by the injuries he suffered, so that simply tells that his body is already giving up to a more physical PBA right now.

he is already 38 years old, only few players can still play their full potential at that age.

He just began to become prone to injuries after his peak so that's given. But yes, age kills everyone athleticism so better hang his jersey.

One of the PBA player at his height that can drained continuous jump shot and 3's. There is not much PBA player with a height of around 6'6" that can do that. RDO is also known for contributing big in their international games.

Time to retire. You already contribute big to the PBA and to the PH country itself.

Indeed thus I agree that he should retire now, he is not getting younger anymore Grin. However, I feel bad a little bit because he retired with a lame finish *sigh. Also, I think it would be better if he already retired when he was in TNT because that is the team where he improved the most and shine as a star. I guess he will be more appreciated from there.

Same with Paras and Ildefonso the timing of retirement is not good since the career is no longer at his prime. But in terms of his contribution from this league, he don't need to prove anything more. His stardom was already been established with how he played the game and how he impressed the fans way back when he was still playing with the tropang texters.

Who would retire if they are still on their prime, your statement does not make sense to me, sorry.
Just like Kobe Bryant, we know he is one of the best player in the NBA, he retired because of injury and he wasn't making his usual stats anymore, he maybe still can scored but his percentage were too low, and after retirement, he was still remembered, even now that he already passed away.

The guy is a legend, just Like Manny Pacquiao in Boxing.

But in terms of his contribution from this league, he don't need to prove anything more. His stardom was already been established with how he played the game and how he impressed the fans way back when he was still playing with the tropang texters.
We can all agree with that as we saw how big his contribution is, he is one of the players where you can rely that would bring a team a win.

Ranidel De Ocampo indeed contributed a lot to the PBA and of course to the TNT Katropa but it's just unfortunate that he never made it to the top recognition of the oldest league in Asia, the Most Valuable Player. Sad to note and wonder sometimes on whether the PBA is fair on choosing a player for that award. Nelson Asaytono, Jason Castro and RDO, those names are deserving for that award but never made it.

What the PBA organization sees does not matter anymore, what matters how the fans sees it.
The eyes of the fans are not corrupt while those who are in the organization, their decision might change due to money or whatsoever.
Just like some players are complaining that the calls are incorrect, so it's possible that the league are rigging games and this could be included, it's a long discussion actually but IMHO, RDO deserves better recognition.

Ray Parks vows to put in work as he eyes Defensive Player of the Year award

I think he can't focus on his offense if he is focus on getting the defensive player award as it would consume a lot of energy and focus as well.
Ray Parks is a good scorer, and I think that's what TNT needs now as they don't have a a player that are consistent in attacking the inside and with Ray Parks athleticism, I think he can do that.

It's good to have a goal and i admire him for acknowledging that he is weak in that department. You solve 50% of the problem if you know what it is so i think Parks will work hard on this one, it can't be achieve overnight but at least he is working on it. They have a saying in basketball that "good offense will come with good defense", so i think he won't worry much on his point production.

IMHO, i think he should also do something about his attitude. He's too proud IMO.
