I hope he will do what he promised once the ban is lifted, if he can't come back this season then maybe we will see him in next season and for a Abueva to change, I would say that the PBA organization did the right thing to discipline players who violated the PBA rules.

Just a fair sanction, at least this will send a message to him that since he is a foreigner, he needs to be careful with regards to giving negative comment, otherwise, another sanction will come to him and he might be ban in the PBA.

What Coach Tab said has a good and a bad side of it for sure.

On the good side, this is like a wake-up call for the coaches and all the leagues here in the PH. Lets just see how Japan's progress in the past years. They've allowed to have I think 3-4 imports in their league and right now they are improving and will continue to improve and also they defeated Australia (which is the one PH fought in the controversial game ) and we know what is the roster of Australia is. If we will tweak some rules especially the import side, there is a chance that the Local will also step up and play better than what they are right now.

On the bad side, I know that Coach Tab can say it in a different way but the way he spoke it is like a direct hit to all the coaches in the league that is why they created their own statement against him and we know that some of the coaches really feel hurt on what he said. I know what is the point of Coach Tab here but the way he said it is quite wrong for me.

Other teams can't also afford to pay the cost for that.

And even with that system, let's accept that PH is really far from being a success in a global competition. We can dominate Asia, that's proven but taking it to the higher level will take several years in the making. Still, I admire Coach Tab and want to see him handling the Gilas in the future.

The thing with foreigners, specially with Europeans, they are frank . They will say what's on their mind no matter if someone will get hurt in the process. Coach Baldwin had a point but he is here in the Philippines long enough to know how to say so that he can't hurt anyone's feelings.

Getting 3-4 imports is near to impossible in our current scenario since only a couple of team owners can afford that one and for me it does help on the development of our local players. PBA is a business and teams are there because they are earning profit on their stay on the league and if they feel that they are losing, they will leave. Player development is not on the team owner's mindset, i think.

Sad to say that the level of competitiveness of our national team will just rely on the quality of Fil-foreigner player that will pop up in the future.

He was already sanctioned, I think it's better if we will not make this a big issue, somehow, although he made a bad comment but his contribution to the Philippine basketball is huge since we had success when he coach the Gilas Pilipinas during the FIBA Asia and FIBA world cup way back.

If what he meant is to have more than one as he's comparing PBA to other Asian leagues, I also opposed that since if he will add more imports

Yes, PBA is unique, the name of the league is Philippine Basketball Association so it should be the Filipinos who will remain to be popular, if they will allow 3 imports in a team, can we still recognize the Filipino players. In world wide ranking, we are not competitive since we are short, but this sport is something that Filipinos already begin to love and as a Filipino, we will be happy watching our fellowmen playing the Filipino basketball style.

I like the current line up, Fajardo, Ross, Cabagnot, Lassiter, Romeo, and Santos, these are the players that are very consistent within the team, if we have 3 imports, their stats would certainly dropped and fans would love the imports and forget the local players. No, this should not happen to the PBA, that' destroying the image, maybe we can do this for international competition but for local league, the current set up is still good for me.

This is the problem with him. As @bizdak40 said, Europeans are quite frank and they will just say what they want. Coach Tab's reputation is also quite the same in other countries that he used to be a coach. Some of the countries doesn't like him because of his way of speaking.

Expenses maybe is one reason especially for those teams who are earning the lowest revenue.
I think 1-2 imports should be enough but to have 3-4 imports like Japan where they can give salaries to many imports. Like you said, if they come up with a deal then it would be ok but I doubt that many imports will take the offer. On the other side, some of the locals too will remain on the bench or will have reduced minutes because of too many imports.

I'm thinking of only 2 imports at max and will put 1 import on the court. Not putting both at the same time. This can be implemented if the teams can afford it .

We Filipinos are sensitive, at least most of us, so as he work here in the Philippines, he needs to adopt with the culture and respect it.

Just like one of famous expression in our country, "Wala na, finish na!" . I'm not pertaining on SMB's dominance if ever they had 3 imports since every team can be a champion as well as long as they can get their own imports. What I'm pertaining about is the future career of our local players. That suggestion is ridiculous, it kills our own fellow people and the basketball culture in general. So I hope and expect from the high officials that it will never happen. I know we like imported stuffs but for me this is too much already.

Indeed. He is a good coach, no doubt about it. But demanding for such changes is really insane, it will never happen. The least thing he can do is to continue guiding and training Filipino players based on his ideals or else he can freely go to the West if he really want to handle import-like players .

I doubt about that, SMB is at their best when they are playing in all Filipino cup so with 3 imports, that might change their faith as for sure those 3 imports will play a heavy minutes, probably they'll average 30 minutes per game, and that would make the locals to have a good resting time in the bench, lol... we don't want to see that as that is a waist of talent of our locals, and they are the ones who will play in the international games, so they need to be more expose in games in the local league.

Forget about that idea, it will not gonna happen.

My vote will go with Robert Bollick although he is not the main man yet for the NorthPort but I still like him over CJ Perez. I'm just a bias fan, sorry.
