1101  Economy / Economics / Re: No choice but to use the unavoidable middle man, the exchange companies. on: August 11, 2023, 09:27:13 AM
Before, people dreamed of a financial system free from government and commercial grips. Now that bitcoin and crypto exist, these middlemen still exist. Because it is always easier said than done. I don't mind paying fees from these middlemen as long as my transactions are guaranteed secure.

Binance is becoming a giant company worth billions nowadays. I know there are a lot of haters on Binance but on the positive side, I am thankful for its peer-to-peer feature which is actually free. I can say that I saved thousands of dollars already otherwise me and my countrymen that are into crypto continued to pay 3% to 5% fees during cash-ins and cashouts.
I still don't understand your problem, why do you pay a fee of 3% to 5% every time you convert your bitcoins to cash? In addition to using P2P on binance, you can also trade P2P with trusted sellers you know. Or you can also use middleman and escrow, I don't think it will cost as much transaction fee as you are mentioning. I don't know if the transaction fee varies from region to region, but in my place, the transaction fee for the middleman is quite cheap. But using Binance is not bad, people hate it because they feel their privacy is violated.

3% to 5% is the usual gap in our local exchanges here compared to the real bitcoin price in the open market. Prior to Binance and other exchanges' p2p, we do not have many options to buy bitcoin and to cashout it out to our local currency. Meets-ups are a little popular as well to save some bucks but that didn't interest me. Huge trades are also happening in our biggest hotel casinos in the capital city but that's a plane away from me and even if it saves me a few thousand dollars I am also not interested in revealing myself.

At present, I do not have many updates as I am mostly on Binance. There are already trading exchanges but I heard the spreads are still around 1% to 3% which is still big if you're buying or selling significant amounts.

Many are also not fond of Binance due to its KYC but that's also far from our local exchanges here that keep on asking for documents like 2 to 3 times a year.
1102  Economy / Economics / Re: Agriculture can save your country from recession on: August 10, 2023, 02:50:48 PM
until now, several countries that are still surviving with agriculture have proven to be unaffected by the world economic recession, moreover, the need for food is increasing, while many agricultural lands have changed their function, causing food prices to continue to increase, countries that focus on agriculture will always survive a situation that is difficult.

Nothing beats a country that can sustain its own population with basic needs which are mostly food. Although most countries are affected by the world economic crisis at least countries that have good agriculture are not suffering much like other countries that are dependent on imports.

Too bad as I can see a lot of unutilized farming lands here in my country. Even many of my relatives are not making their lands productive anymore unlike the old times.

Hats off to OP. Hopefully, you can keep your farm as organic as possible. Someday I can have my own farm too.
1103  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: August 10, 2023, 01:32:50 PM
Is someone that made gambling a habit but is responsible for its playing time and finances called a gambling addict as well? If yes, then I don't mind being called a gambling addict.

I can feel that there are many members in this forum who are maintaining their privacies just like many crypto believers. So just like me, I don't share much with the public including my gambling habit. But of course, I am not hiding it as well, some relatives and friends knew I gamble regularly. And with regards to public reputation, I don't care since I did not do anything bad to them and I am confident that I managed my gambling habit as well. Besides, I am not born to impress the public so who cares. My life, my rules.

1105  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: As an undergraduate, is it advisable to invest my trustfund in Bitcoin? on: August 10, 2023, 12:01:24 PM
Is bitcoin a good investment? Yes, it is. But it won't make you rich especially short term and there are also no guarantees in the long run. My assumption of bitcoin price is like 300% in the next 2 years. That's very far from making someone rich but way better than making your savings sleep in the bank beaten by inflation.

1106  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Inflation sa Pilipinas - Kamusta ang mga kabayan natin dito sa forum on: August 10, 2023, 11:41:03 AM
Welcome back kabayan.
1107  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: August 10, 2023, 11:30:55 AM
@Lanatsa. Pacman is not being a traitor against his own countrymen. In the ambush interview, what Pacman told the interviewer was he wanted to help Inoue and teach him his secrets on how he carried his strength, speed, power and stamina when he has fighting in higher weight divisions. He wants everyone to witness someone greater than him in boxing, I reckon.

I thought Pacman is only willing to help if in case Inoue will move up to other divisions again? Anyways, Pacman once again was caught in another ambush interview during the Crawford-Spence event, the legend mentioned Crawford as the new #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world replacing Inoue but he also said that Inoue remains his favorite guy. https://www.facebook.com/IFLTV/videos/617315163875941
Cannot blame Pacquiao for that if he said those words in an interview because it's pretty much so rare that an Asian boxer particularly in Southeast Asia will rise and dominate the divisions he stepped into, and it's just too hard to deny the facts because Inoue is indeed a literal monster. Donaire and Casimero tried and did have a successful run, the latter is still active and it's still a mystery whether he can be a four-division world champion or three will be his limit.

Quote
Meanwhile, according to a local source, Team Tapales is not happy with Naoya Inoue's offers. And just a few days ago, 3 division champion Johnreil Casimero started training again in his town. Casimero looked very heavy at the moment so hopefully, he continues his light training as he might be Inoue's next opponent late this year. It could be that Tapales is not happy with the money presented on the table but it is possible that both sides are bluffing at this early stage of their negotiations. Tapales if he won't face Inoue next might face a mandatory either from the WBA or the IBF. A rematch against former champion Morudjon Akhmadaliev for the WBA mandatory or IBF's mandatory Sam Goodan of Australia might be a high-risk low reward for Tapales should he not come to an agreement with Inoue.
I'm thinking that Casimero will have another fight before this year ends which is why he is starting his training regimen now, hopefully that's Nery so that his rank will improve. While for the undisputed discussion, Tapales camp is still taking a stand that they wanted a much bigger figure and that is so understandable because they deserved that.

Pacman is just being honest right there there is nothing wrong with it. Inoue is indeed rare. He earned his credentials in impressive ways. Became the world champion in his 6th fight, a 2-division champion in his 8th fight, undisputed at bantamweight, and a 4-division champion at 30 years old. He is very unique in his own way and Pacman had nothing but huge appreciation.

As for Casimero, it is really good that he gets a fight before the end of the year. He should fight with or without Inoue in order for him to stay sharp and disciplined.
1108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Anthony Joshua vs Robert Helenius (replacement) on: August 10, 2023, 11:10:05 AM
AJ here has to understand that he is up for a big fight—'just win'—and then he can enjoy a big payday, even an undercard fight only.
He is slowly going up to the top. His losses to Usyk were really big and have affected his career, but I trust that his career in boxing is not yet over.

AJ may go on to continue his career, especially since he is a big star in the UK. But I honestly doubt he can be champion again. AJ and Wilder have the puncher's chance to become champions again but other than that I doubt they can win a dominant fight without hurting their opponents first. Hopefully, these 2 will collide this December in Saudi Arabia as the rumors say. If AJ dominates and then stops this old and slow version of Helenius he could be the slight favorite over Wilder.

The heavyweight is once again getting boring unless the 2 champions face each other or retire.
1109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: think before investing on: August 09, 2023, 02:02:12 PM
What kind of storytelling is this? Your friend sold his property and then lose it all because he doesn't know how to trade bitcoin? I doubt your used margin trading knowing he is a newbie and does not know much about trading. If your friend bought bitcoin then he didn't lose it all then? Was he hacked?

And then you felt pity for your friend and then you teach him how to trade and invest? And he is now doing well and happy? So you are a very very good trader then? Maybe you should also post in trading discussions and share with us your technical analysis and your favorite indicators.
1110  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 09, 2023, 01:37:17 PM
It could be Damian Lillard as the biggest surprise to come. I believe the Miami Heat is having a 50/50 chance of getting him or even lower so I'd still be surprised if they can acquire Lillard which I am hoping to happen.

James Harden might be a little surprised, this guy can still play well, especially in play-making and shooting so a contending team getting him will become a better team. We don't know yet how much the other teams are willing to give up to take him but teams will take him pretty sure unless Philly will do the waiting game. And lastly, there's Zach LaVine who earlier wants out of Chicago so a possible trade before the start of the season will happen.

As for the favorites next season, I am also expecting Denver and the Phoenix. Milwaukee and Boston are possible 50/50 unless Miami gets Lillard.

Lillard joining the Miami Heat wouldn't necessarily make them the heavy favorites to win the championship. However, it would be interesting to see if he lands with the Heat, as the team would likely improve due to the potential chemistry. As for James Harden, he isn't as entertaining anymore, so I'm not thrilled about which team he will join. After he was traded from the Rockets, his career hasn't been the same. I don't understand why the Nets gave up on him so easily. I mean, the big 3 is talented enough to make the team a championship contender, but it seems the Nets might have been in a hurry.

Yes, even if the Miami Heat gets Lillard, I also doubt they will become the favorites especially since they already lost Strus, Vincent, and Oladipo. And obviously, more of their players will be lost in the trade which might also include Caleb Martin, Herro, and Lowry. But if this happens, I expect the bookies to make them the favorites in the East.

I think the Nets gave up when the drama on Kyrie Irving started during the pandemic. Harden and KD are not happy as well with the team situation. Still, it was very unlucky for the Nets. I cannot remember a full season or playoffs where they played together.

1113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Regis Prograis vs Devin Haney on: August 09, 2023, 12:08:20 PM
...
Hahaha. I remember that you call Haney an email champion, don't know the reason why but seems you don't like him or his fighting style.

I called Haney an email champion before because he won his WBC belt thru email and not inside the ring. He was emailed by the WBC that he was elevated from interim champion to full WBC champion. This happened when the corrupt WBC tried to convince the boxing community that its new title called WBC Franchise is a legit title awarded to fighters that accomplished a lot. Then middleweight lineal and unified champion Canelo Alvarez was its first holder and then later it was also awarded to then lineal and unified champion Vasily Lomachenko. So Loma was elevated as a Franchise champion and then Haney was emailed as its new WBC regular champion.

It's a blessing in disguise though, the boxing community didn't consider the Franchise champion as the real WBC belt. So loud-mouthed Teofimo Lopez who was supposed to become undisputed after defeating Loma was never recognized by the boxing community since it considered Haney as the WBC's real champion. It's the same reason why Kambosos after beating Lopez unified his belts against Haney to determine the real undisputed champion.

It was the same situation when another corrupt sanctioning body the WBA created the WBA Super belt for WBA regular champions who successfully unified their belts with other champions (WBC/IBF/WBO). It still existed today but the boxing community only considers a WBA regular holder as the real champion if there is no WBA Super holder in the same division. That is why Tank Davis is a fake WBA champion because Haney is the WBA Super champion.
1114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reckless gambling starts after a win round. on: August 09, 2023, 11:12:11 AM
It depends on the person. Some people will feel the urge to continue playing after winning but some people started to become addicted after feeling the urge to get a win. I experienced the craving to win a particular game at a festival. So I started to gamble with the urge and I did not even care how much I spent as long as I will win that particular game.

But personally, I believe that gambling addiction becomes a habit when someone is not financially literate and then it is more likely to occur when the person is not physically and mentally occupied.
1115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Anthony Joshua vs Robert Helenius (replacement) on: August 08, 2023, 11:56:26 AM
Update: Anthony Joshua sets Robert Helenius as replacement opponent for Dillian Whyte | 'I am a true Viking!'

AJ is officially facing this weekend Robert Helenius, the guy that was KO'd in round 1 by Deontay Wilder in his last fight last year. Robert Helenius just won a fight a few days ago in 3rd round. So the undercards remained the same.
1116  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation is making a mess of my savings. on: August 08, 2023, 11:48:55 AM
Inflation made a huge mess some years ago. I fully understand that sleeping money in the bank is not the best way to keep money. So I finally decided to move them into an asset that has the potential to beat inflation and at the same time easier to sell and cash out. And because it was not a good year to invest in crypto, I diversified it to different stocks. And then comes a huge bear run into our local stock market. Some of the stocks I purchased even dropped worse than some of the top 400 altcoins in crypto.
1117  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can you tell me the best indicator for long term investment? on: August 08, 2023, 11:24:12 AM
For crypto, it's the 4-year cycle based on the bitcoin halving that serves me as the best indicator and it never failed so far. Bitcoin remains the main investment focus but it's not and to diversify and pick some of the altcoins of your taste as long you DYOR and invest what you can afford to lose. Outside of crypto, it's mostly on the fundamentals of the assets like stocks, foreign currencies, real estate, and many more.

Real estate is my best pick outside of crypto because of how small my country is and yet we have a huge population so basically the demand is overflowing over the fixed supply.
1118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Collective bets in local lotteries on: August 08, 2023, 11:04:43 AM
It's the first time I hear about a group of people betting as one on lotteries. Maybe this will work in a good community, family-related, and solid close friends. But still, I'd rather stay away from it. Money is the root of many conflicts and it might happen in the same case here. The leader might want a bigger share or whatever may arise due to greed.

Anyways, I don't trust my government's local lottery here so I haven't bought lottery tickets for a few years already. New and very low-valued altcoins are now my lottery tickets.   Grin
1119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Anthony Joshua vs Dillian Whyte II on: August 08, 2023, 10:41:30 AM
So this fight is called off after Dillian Whyte's samples went positive according to VADA. Rumors are that Matchroom is looking for a replacement to face AJ in the main event. We'll see if they can find someone willing to face AJ in a week's notice.
It is a huge disappointment to many of us who have looked forward to expecting to see AJ go against Dillian again for the third time.

This is a really bad record for Dillian Whyte that will create a stereotype, he will most likely end up with a ban after the investigation has been carried out and he is found guilty, the ban may span a number of years.

Dillian claims to be innocent -
Quote
“I can confirm without a shadow of doubt that I have not taken the reported substance, in this camp or at any point in my life. I am completely innocent and ask to be given the time to go through the process of proving this without anybody jumping to conclusions or a trial by media.”
source

We will know more in a couple of days as more findings come to light.

Some years ago I heard rumors of Dillian Whyte not being clean. Whyte is a fighter who fatigues in the late rounds, this is probably the main reason why his team is trying to put something in his body to address his biggest flaw. A suspension will surely happen, but we'll see how long it will be. Whyte is not young anymore and he might bid goodbye to his dreams of getting a title fight.

The 3 possible replacements mentioned in the article seem too risky for AJ even if Wallin and Bakole are not training for real fights. I'm confident El Animal would destroy AJ left and right. This guy is being avoided like a plague by the big names for years already. Too bad he is getting his shot against Usyk, but still 50/50 IMO. Meanwhile, rumors are that the other fighters in the undercards are the ones targeted by AJ. Grandpas Derrick Chisora and Gerald Washington are the main possible replacements. I don't know what takes them long to announce it. DAZN and Matchroom are probably worried that these grandpas would make the PPV event fail but at the same time worried that their cash cow might lose if they are to replace someone decent.
1120  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 08, 2023, 09:46:06 AM

There's not much to see in the first place Grin Just two good actors fooling the crowd while collecting their paychecks at the end of the event. Sadly, that figure you mentioned is just too high from what did Nate Diaz got from that fight because in this article, it was said that Nate was just given a guaranteed $500k (PPV not included) while Jake Paul brought home $2 Million. On the bright side, that is 150k more from Nate's last fight against Tony Ferguson in the UFC as he was just given $350k at that time.

Not bad at all, just a single no sparring and you'll get $500k and with that easy payout they are bringing hypes for possible rematch, and if that will materialize another addition to their paychecks, I'm not a hater but we all know that there's nothing in this fight though there are fans who loves to see their idols fighting the Paul's bros', that huge numbers of followers are bringing more millions for them, oh well, just another collection day for those performers and hopefully live viewers and PPV are also did enjoy the performances.
Yes, that's easy money for Jake Paul and Nate Diaz. I heard some people say that Nate looks like not even training to win the fight but to survive. Still, I'm happy to hear that Nate survived. As for their purse, there are a lot of conflicting numbers given by different sites. But it's far from what they are receiving once PPV buys are all accounted for. PPV buys in boxing can earn them as much as 100% of the net income so even if the numbers are bad, Nate will receive a million. $10 million might be too far off though, it needs 500k PPV buys in order for Nate to earn that figure.

I didn't watch the fight. Pretty sure I had more fun yesterday watching Gerard Butler's action movie, Kandahar. The fight is nothing special, it's only good for the casuals who haven't seen or heard the real fights like Crawford and Inoue earlier. The undercard would've been a good show if only they picked a better live opponent. Jake Paul tried hard entering the arena riding a tank. Cheesy

But I'm just glad Nate is finally getting his well-deserved pay. I heard he is about to get paid $10 million for that event. I wish he just choke Shake Paul until he gets unconscious but I knew it won't happen as he might not get his purse. As for the rematch in MMA, I highly doubt it. It's only marketing in order to draw interest to people that there is a rematch under MMA rules. No way Paul is going to do it against an MMA legend. Maybe Paul is willing 5 years from now, at that time Nate is too inactive and old.

Actually, for me, it was really a good fight but not watching Jake Paul but for how long Nate Diaz can withstand the beating I know Nate Diaz will not win this matchup at least I have supported him to withstand the barrage of Jake Paul, for sure I want to see another Jake Paul fight and bet on what round Jake Paul retired MMA opponent can withstand the beating, it is a great bet for the boring guys that has an idea that Jake Paul will surely win this,

Well not cool for me to see legends getting beaten by upcoming fighters that they could've easily beaten in their primes or in Nate's case in his preferred sport. I was actually thinking of betting on Paul even if I will never watch the fight but then I felt like there's a lot of pride in there for Nate to just take a dive. So I thought a possible hail mary punch could make an upset.

I don't know what's next for Jake Paul. Maybe he should accept the challenge from female boxer Claressa Shields. Cheesy I am pretty sure to watch it live if it happens. That girl will put a beating on the special child. Cheesy

Meanwhile this weekend, real fights are back. A guaranteed war between multi-division champions Oscar Valdez and Emanuel Navarette on ESPN. At Showtime, former champion Emmanuel Rodriguez aims to become a champion again after losing his belt to Naoya Inoue years ago. On DAZN, the return of Anthony Joshua but the best match of the night is between Filip Hrgovic and Demsey McKean.
