Quote
.... The fee, after having already been dispersed to miners as a mining reward, could have been lost forever. But instead, Bitmain decided to compensate the user for the loss with their own money. In a reply to a service ticket submitted over the issue, Bitmain notified the client of their decision.

Dear Customer,

We are sorry to hear this…

Bitcoin Miner Repays Customer Who Accidentally Paid 2.5 Bitcoins Transaction FeeFirst of all, this mistake caused by himself, and we don’t have responsibility for this. And since now, Antpool has taken PPS+ and PPLNS+ payment method, so his 2.5 bitcoin transaction fee has already paid out to all the miners in Antpool. But thanks for all of your supports and unconditional trust for Antpool and Bitmain, our company has decided to pay his loss.

Looking forward to continuing to build your trust and bringing you more added values through our advanced technology and passion.

Best Wishes,

Hugh

Bitmain
What a hell. They are claiming that miners are getting tx fees in Antpool.

3124  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: March 14, 2017, 07:52:44 PM
You are putting home miners versus industrial miners all over and over again, but my disapproval for Bitmain removing features from miners has nothing to do with that.

I have no idea why you are defending their decision removing features.

Obviously people want the ability back to underclock. I've been mining for nearly 6 years now. It is extremely useful in so many scenarios. It makes 0 sense and is incredibly short sighted to defend removal of the feature.
Thanks for supporting my view!  Smiley
It is indeed useful, both in home and industrial level mining.

And manual fan control is also one thing nice to have.

I have non-autotune S9s models and autotune R4 models, so I have pretty good amount of experience about both systems.

3126  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BITMAIN Rackmount Discontinued? on: March 13, 2017, 09:49:16 PM
Yep, S4 is the latest and maybe last rackmount case miner.

Though you can actually find some custom made rackmount enclosures for Antminer S9 and S7.
This is one example that I'm aware of: http://www.miningrigs.net/?product=antminer-s7-s9-rackmount-self
3127  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: March 13, 2017, 09:45:23 PM
This is not about who is a hobby miner or who is crying.
Even if I would have a industrial grade mining farm, I would consider dropping features off not so nice thing to do.
There should be some kind of control ability even in the newest models.
3128  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Should I buy Asic? on: March 13, 2017, 08:02:26 PM
You need to take the rising network difficulty into account.
3129  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: March 13, 2017, 07:24:31 PM
Yeah, but taking off some features is a shitty thing to do. Kind of like what Sony made with the Playstation 3 back in the days.

Quote from: Bitmain
Attention: do not use this fw on old S9 miners with fixed frequency. If miner works all right, the upgrade process with this fw is not recommended.

Edit: Not to mention that PS3 is a gaming console designed for home use, whereas the S9 isn't either of those things.

Well your explanation doesn't make Bitmain's decision about dropping features less shitty in my opinion.

And I'm not comparing a gaming console with a miner, it was just an example to give the idea what I'm meaning.
3130  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: March 13, 2017, 07:09:23 PM
so basically your saying if the possibility is there we shouldnt and have no right to want the features that we have had up to this point. im not talkin about different versions of miners either...s9's have had freq control since day 1 of their release bitmain just took the ability to manually set it away. if bitmain took the ability away do you think its hard to add the ability back? ....
There's literally no part of that which is true. Either you purchased a new model machine which is configured differently than older models or one random day you decided to change the software. Bitmain didn't take control of your older model and force an update onto it.

Yeah, but taking off some features is a shitty thing to do. Kind of like what Sony made with the Playstation 3 back in the days.

3132  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: SegWit is a waste of disk space? on: March 13, 2017, 05:21:19 PM
But when total number of transactions keeps rising, even lower level transaction fees make a good total amount in the end.
3133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASICMINERMARKET = SCAM on: March 13, 2017, 03:04:07 PM
Well good thing that you used Paypal in this case. You might even get your money back.
3134  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: SegWit is a waste of disk space? on: March 13, 2017, 03:00:21 PM
I'm a miner myself and I know that tx fees are important, but the current level of tx fees cost and tx confirmation speed fights the idea about bitcoin making fast low cost money transactions possible. Wasn't this one of the original ideas?
3135  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: SegWit is a waste of disk space? on: March 13, 2017, 10:12:29 AM
Well my opinion is based on my own experiences while paying for things with BTC. Slow confirmations and high cost tx fees. How the hell that is a nice thing?

I agree though with you about the empty blocks and spam, 100%.
3136  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Why are you still mining on AntPool? on: March 13, 2017, 08:50:55 AM
I agree this thread 100%.
When you are involved in bitcoin mining you should gain such knowledge to achieve reasonable mining reward and this knowledge includes the fact that it doesn't make any sense to mine at Antpool reward-wise nor it makes no sense bitcoin network -wise.
3137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASICMINERMARKET = SCAM on: March 13, 2017, 07:20:09 AM
It is best to buy directly from Bitmain, Canaan Creative, Baikal, PinIdea, Panda, Innosilicon or which ever manufacture's hardware you are buying.
3138  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: SegWit is a waste of disk space? on: March 13, 2017, 06:58:24 AM
What is a viable option besides Segwit?
One thing for sure is that we can't keep going with the current system forever.

So I guess you are looking for a breakout board.

That is different model of a server psu comparing what I'm used to see in the mining scene.

I was not able to find you a breakout board with a quick search, so good luck for searching.

Another option: you could solder or have some other guy solder cables straight to psu.

Well the price for L3 was already high as hell, so I have no high expectations (or should I say low  Grin ) for the L3+.
