581  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ban from a Casino for Nothing Other Than Winning Too Much Money on: October 18, 2023, 11:55:23 PM
Actually this is nothing new for high roller or professional gambler, first the casino will limit the account, if he's keep winning and drain the casino's money, they will take the last step to ban the account.

Since Dana White was gamble in land based casino, it's more easier for the operator/staff to ban the high roller or professional gambler.

I'm not saying the casino is bad or unethical for doing that, but they must do everything to make their business not going to bankrupt, right?

I do think that the casino has the right to ban anyone for whatever purpose they may deemed so. But before they ban such person, they must also have a reason for doing such since if they exercise this power, they run the risk of ruining their reputation in seconds.

In the given story provided by OP, Dana White is known to be a high stakes player. Since he is the owner of UFC and he has boat loads of cash in his disposal, he can gamble away millions of dollars like he is just buying candy at a store. Of course, gambling contains the risks of two (2) parties- the player; and the owner of the casino.

While Dana White may have lost some money in the process, he still has won some money in which the casino deemed it necessary for him to be prohibited to enter their establishment.
582  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Question for those who loose too frequently in gambling on: October 18, 2023, 11:35:23 PM
I have often wondered about the people who have lost a lot in gambling and who almost loose in every gambling activity they participate. What is their reason or motivation to continue even after so many losses?

It is not about the motivation but it is the feeling of recovering your losses.

Generally when a player loses in a gambling game, they have this feeling that they need to recover their losses by gambling again. Unfortunately, this is called the gambler's cycle where a player will gamble regardless of the result, either they win or lose, thereby creating an endless cycle. The only way for the player to break into this cycle is if when they decide to either quit completely or accept the fact that they will not be able to recover their losses.

It is also easier said than done for a person to quit after losing. Our initial response when we lose is to try and win again. But with the determination needed, a player can destroy this cycle and realize that such will never be recoverable.
583  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One of ways to identify scams on: October 17, 2023, 11:47:18 PM
I don't know anything about this website you are trying to make purchase in, neither do i know much about the pi network (other than many people are mining Pi, thinking it'd be the next Bitcoin Tongue), nevertheless you shouldn't enter your seed phrase in any website or in anywhere at all. Only enter your seed phrase if you are attempting to import your wallet, and even then you must be careful of the software you are importing it into, you ought to verify it and do it offline if possble.

I agree with your statement.

Majority of the scams can be avoided if a person does not share any of his/her personal information in sketchy websites. In addition, if you encounter a website that offers free giveaways that is too good to be true, then avoid it at all cost. Remember, prevention is better than cure- nothing is free in this world as everything has an equivalent.

If a person randomly adds you and messages you telling to invest on their business or to purchase any kind of investment scheme, be doubtful and ignore it. Again, scams can definitely be avoided if you remain skeptical about everything and their processes.
584  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you leave gambling if your future wife/husband tells you to do this ? on: October 17, 2023, 11:25:30 PM
Will you leave gambling if your future wife/husband tells you to do this ?

It depends on the reason on why my future spouse tells me to quit and leave gambling behind.

Obviously, if my future spouse tells me to quit gambling, she must substantiate it with enough reason for her to justify it. Personally, I view gambling as a form of entertainment and not a money-making venture. With this perspective on mind, I know my limits and I always make sure not to go beyond the initial money that I have allocated for this venture.

Though this may be the case, I WILL personally quit gambling if I have family commitments that I must exercise. Instead of using the allocated expenses for gambling, I would definitely focus it more on to the family rather to this dangerous habit that can explode any time.
585  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do your parents know about your gambling habit ? on: October 17, 2023, 11:05:46 PM
Most of the grown up people do not live with parents. At such, the parents are not aware about the interests and habits of individuals. Do you parents know that you gamble ? What was their first reaction towards your gambling habit ?

When I used to gamble during my younger days, I kept it as a secret since my parents would hate me for it.

As a child, my father brought us to different cockfight stadiums where he used to bet frequently. Though he always told us to avoid and not copy his actions, you cannot help but to be curious on the things that he did before. When I reached the age of majority in our country, I tried online gambling involving in-game skins from games and I was able to at least convert my $5 to around $60 at that time.

Unfortunately, I learned the lesson the hard way and I got humbled. Quickly, all of my earnings went from $60 to $30 and eventually I hit rock-bottom. From there, I vowed to myself to never gamble and not to expose my kids into any kind of gambling activity.
586  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cash out or keep playing? on: October 17, 2023, 10:37:55 PM
This is actually the challenge for most gamblers and the dilemma that they face whenever they experience a winning streak or at least a huge win on their part.

Sure, it is very easy to say that they should cash out and maximize their winnings. But when you are in that position, every cell of your body will fight and compel you to continue and try ONE LAST TIME to risk again your resources in the process. Again, this is the challenge- people must hold on to their funds and think rationally before they want to continue or not.

As a recommendation, if you guys are on the fence on whether to continue or to cash out, just cash out your initial bet. In that way, at least you have kept the money you have betted and you used your profit as a catalyst for another go.
587  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin ETF Approval: Fueling Bullish Momentum? on: October 16, 2023, 11:57:24 PM
With the rumoured SEC's approval of a Bitcoin spot ETF, we've witnessed a bullish surge in its price, surpassing the 30k range before pulling back to consolidate for another potential run.

Considering this, is it safe to say that we're experiencing a historically bullish October? Additionally, which alts are you considering accumulating before the year's end? Let's dive into the world of alts together.☺️

I do not think so though the price has remained consistent all throughout this year.

If there is one thing that people are speculating for its price to increase, it would be the 2024 fork that will happen. Expect prices to increase and that would be the time that we will consider that we are on the bullish run for that season. While this may be true and other speculations and events have affected the price of BTC, it is nothing that significant to call or even consider it as a bullish run.
588  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What if the internet permanently shuts down on: October 16, 2023, 11:35:34 PM
When you turn off your computer does your data vanishes? No, it doesn't. It just stops at that current state. And when you turn back on again, you are where you left the last time. Nothing will erase. You won't be able to access it but just for temporary period of time. The magnitude of catastrophy you are asking is nearly unimaginable. Almost close to impossible. Just like @NeuroticFish said, it would be possible, only if we were attacked by an Alien force or any being with higher intelligence than us.

This is an interesting take on this topic and I fully agree with you.

Assuming that the internet shuts down, in all honesty, bitcoin would be my not on my priority list. There are things that are more daunting assuming the internet shuts down for a brief period in time.

But I do agree with what you mentioned- the data is most likely stored and things would be as it is if ever it comes back. Like what most online games that I have played that servers get temporarily shut down, all of the data is stored and things would be recovered if servers go live again (same comparison with the internet).
589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Drake's Curse. on: October 16, 2023, 11:12:56 PM
<..snip..>
The Drake's Curse.

He lost on the right man. We have experienced losses but not as bad as this...this is just terrible.

What do the gambling folks have to say about this?

Well, Drake has the means to satisfy his gambling urges. While he may have the money to do so, it still sucks to see a person losing this amount of money due to reasons beyond his control. While he may have betted on the right person, the situation got out of control which made his fighter disqualified in the end.

Even if we may argue that Drake is rich, still, that kind of amount would be a life changer to anyone. Though this may be the case, he is still rich as he is one of the ambassadors of Stake, which is considered one of the most popular gambling website as of this date.

I just hope that this "curse" gets removed or converts to something in a positive manner.
590  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An agent is no where to be found. on: October 16, 2023, 10:54:03 PM
<..snip..>
However, I am here to say these are the reasons why it is not always good to gamble in a betting agent's shop, because if the manager of the shop does not run with the money a gambler wins, then one of the workers in the betting shop might run away with the money someone wins, so I do conclude that an online gambling site with good reputation is the best for gambler, so what do you guys have to say about this?.

I humbly submit that I do not understand the need to gamble with a betting agent.

I mean, you are just increasing your risks further if you plan on adding a betting agent on top of it. Gambling is already risky on itself due to the circumstances present. If you were to hire a betting agent, then you still have to worry about their authenticity and genuineness of service which adds another layer of risk on your part.

If someone wants to gamble and thinks of getting a betting agent, just do not do it. Gamble it with yourself OR just save your money in the process. If you gamble by using a betting agent, expect things to happen like what the story of OP told us.
591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you think about trading feature? on: October 16, 2023, 10:34:06 PM
Gambling sites like Bc.game and Rollbit now include trading feature in their casinos. In this game we need to predict small fluctuations in price over a short period of time.
This is became my favorite game. What do you think of this game?
Do you think this game gives us some advantage/edge to casino? Because most of the time, prices tend to Follow a repeating pattern like Up-Down Up-Down in a range.

I think this is a good introduction in innovating a gambling website.

Given that lots of people trade nowadays, it is no surprise that gambling websites have integrated a trading feature where people can gamble and trade at the same time. I just hope that the trading feature that these gambling websites integrate would be convenient and easy to operate in order to fully maximize this potential.

Though this may be the case, I do think that this kind of feature would still be gambling per se just guised as a trading feature. It may look like a person is trading but in its essence, it is still within the scope of gambling.

593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are We Need Satoshi? on: October 13, 2023, 11:55:05 PM
I'd want to hear Satoshi's opinions on past Bitcoin development and Bitcoin's current state in general solely due to curiosity, but it will be a net negative for the entire space. Why? People will be too biased to side with whatever Satoshi's opinions are.

I agree with your statement.

I mean, it is really peak curiosity on what Satoshi thinks of the current situation of bitcoin is. Hearing his thoughts, developments, and other information would definitely be interesting but other than that it would be irrelevant.

Somehow, I am confused on why lots of people are claiming to be Satoshi; like doesn't it give a threat to your own security? I mean, he still has yet to dispose his current BTCs as they are left on his wallet. If a person claims to be Satoshi, then they would definitely be targeted and flagged by people, ultimately compromising his safety.
594  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm a newbie and i don't understand how this forum works. on: October 13, 2023, 11:43:33 PM
Good day everyone, I'm still a newbie to this forum and I'm yet to understand how the platform works, and I'd like to get helpful tips on how to get started, so I'm asking the senior members of the forum for assistance.

Think of this platform as like any other platforms where everyone socially discusses with one another. The difference is, this forum is the biggest cryptocurrency forum where everyone is free (as long as it is within the forum rules) to share their thoughts, ideas, and tips for everyone.

In addition, this forum also has an advertising system called "signatures" where people can freely advertise their projects or services to one another by hiring people to represent such signature called a "signature campaign."

If you truly do not understand, then the only way for you to experience it fully is to try it out for yourself! Do not be afraid to navigate and check every boards for you to have a better understanding on them.
595  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: some of the best ways to secure yourself from scammers on: October 13, 2023, 11:15:57 PM
Vigilance, awareness, and sound security procedures are all necessary for scammer protection.
Here are some of the finest defences against con artists
Learn for Yourself Your strongest line of defence is knowledge. Keep up with typical fraud schemes and techniques. The more information you have, the easier it will be to spot and prevent such frauds.
Check identities Never give personal or financial information to anybody without first confirming their identity. Request formal credentials and check with the organisation by contacting them through their website or other contact details.

Currently, I am in the process of finding scams in the ANN section of the forum and I have noticed something when newbies get scammed out by fake websites and projects.

When people discover a new project, they quickly download the miner and start mining the tokens/coins of the designated project without even checking if the link/s they have downloaded are safe. Not to mention, lots of newbies often become too hasty with their decisions as they trust almost every message they receive from random strangers.

To sum it all up, prevention is better than cure. Be doubtful for your security. People would ever approach you and tell that they have the secret formula to success but they have their respective hidden agendas ready for carefree newbies.

Remember, nothing is free- everything has a price. Same for scammers- if they claim to have something for free, then be doubtful and backoff.
596  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don’t push playing more on: October 13, 2023, 11:00:54 PM
Absolutely true. When the outcomes are no longer in our favor, and we start feeling stressed, it's wise to take a break and assess the mistakes we've made. Our ultimate goal is to win, and we can't rush it. Gambling sites aren't going anywhere; we can always return to them later. What's crucial is that we are fully prepared, both mentally and emotionally. Lastly, we need to take measures to prevent addiction because that can lead to a disastrous situation. It's a serious disease that's difficult to cure.

The initial reaction of a person when they lose in a gambling activity is the recover their losses and try to regain the advantage they had. Unfortunately, in order to achieve this, they have to start gambling again which creates an endless cycle for the gambler and the gambling company.

Sure, a person may win but they should never discount the possibility of losing as well. Not to mention, losing in a way of a losing streak sucks and this can only add fuel to the fire if they keep on continuing.

If a person is aware about their limits, then it should be somehow easier for them to break this cycle but almost everyone is challenged by this said act. I just hope that people would try their very best to know when to stop in order to avoid this problem escalating further.
597  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often is your luck in gambling? on: October 13, 2023, 10:37:06 PM
This Filipina did not even expect she won the grand prize on lottery instead she thought of winning just consolation prizes. Lucky for her she had that financial stability for 25 years as $6,670+ a month here in the Philippines is pretty huge.

https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/pinoyabroad/content/882861/pinay-wins-over-p387-000-a-month-for-25-years-in-emirates-draw/story/

Ohh I was just thinking about this a couple of days ago!

Imagine being financially stable for twenty-five (25) years, that would definitely be the dream to experience! If I were on her shoes, I would definitely invest the money that I will be receiving into several businesses to maximize my earnings. Not to mention, I would definitely live a healthier lifestyle from now on in order to live for 25+ years and get all the cash prizes!

Quote
How about you guys, are you having a good fortune on your gambling career? Do you ever think of quitting after you won a jackpot?

When I was younger, I used to have a good fortune during my gambling sprees. But this quickly turned sour when I got too greedy as I placed my expectations daily of winning. I really thought that I could win forever- only to discover that my winning streak was just only temporary. When I ought to find my winning streak, everything converted to a losing streak.
598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Low cost but effective solutions to gambling addiction on: October 13, 2023, 10:22:31 PM
One of the solutions which is recommended by most gamblers on this forum for gambling addiction is "Therapy" . Professional help in the form of therapy. It is good and very effective but how many persons can actually afford it? There is a fee for each session that lasts for a duration of 60minutes. And there are more than one session. Therapy for gambling addiction is expensive. How can those who are unemployed afford it? How about the college student? Or the person receiving minimum wage. What are the other low cost but very effective solutions to gambling addiction. And typically how long will it take before the addict starts to feel more in control and less withdrawal symptoms?
Will totally appreciate your responses. Thanks.

I think more than the cost for therapy, it is the determination of the person to undergo such treatment and their commitment in finishing all the required sessions.

Like what I also mentioned before, if a person truly wants to cure his/her addiction in gambling, the first step is always about finding their commitment in resolving this problem. If they lack the commitment and dedication to truly cure this, then everything will be futile and the cause is lost.

Without commitment, even if the person is equipped with all the necessary resources and money, they will not be able to escape the depths of their addiction.
599  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Relying on gamble wins is dangerous to mental health on: October 13, 2023, 04:19:44 PM
I met a friend who used about $1 to play gamble to win about $2500 in a game of different matches, all the early games went well but the last game cut which made him loose the game.  This lose made him to be sick for 3 days, the reason for his reaction was not because of the money he used to bet but he felt so bad because he has already put all his hope on the money he would have won.

People needs not to put all their hope in games they are not sure of winning, because relying on it can be very dangerous to the mental health. Play gamble and remove your mind from the money that will be gained till it is achieved.

People need to understand that gambling is a two-way activity- results can go either way.

Sure, a person may experience a winning streak that may result to him winning significant amounts of cash. But that does not mean that his subsequent games will continue the fire- in fact, the more the person gambles, the more chances that they lose at the end due to the presence of "house-edge" or the edge that gambling platforms have for their profit.

If a person truly wants to capitalize on their winnings, then better to treat gambling as a form of entertainment rather than a source of money.

<..snip..>
I'd like to hear from those of you who have experienced this or are still dealing with it. Please share your testimonies.

This is a very well-written statement of yours, OP.

Though I do not have any kind of experience that reached similarly to yours, I have personally witnessed someone close to our family whose life slowly crippled away due to his gambling and drug addiction. When I was a kid, my uncle used to have a stable career and healthy relationships with everyone. But when his co-workers introduced him to gambling and drugs, our family saw the difference- like it was literally night and day.

Unfortunately, my uncle still lives in his dark era where he continues to battle gambling addiction. We still hope that he recovers but this is just a testament on how gambling and drug addiction can turn your life around.
