Further. The nation of Israel is still around and powerful, after it was destroyed many times. Why? Two reasons:

No one dares to try to argue that today in a moral debate.

Why not. The executed were enemies of God, of good, and of God's people, Israel... even the babies were.

Besides, even if you don't understand, God owns everything. It is His right to do whatever He wants.

What about the part in the story where it is recognized that the ancients only had ONE GOD? For example you can study the documentary "Krishna: History or Myth?", or inquire into the writings of Plato, who described an Atlantean culture. After a bit of critical thinking you could easily determine that your story does not fit with the facts about ancient people.
