Hey lads.

I just tried logging in to Bitfinex on Windows 10(1709, 16299.15)

When I press login after entering the correct keys, it simply hangs on that screen with a greyed out login button.
Demo works fine, and I've confirmed my keys are a 100% correct.

Logs don't state anything funky, here's the only one associated to this problem.

bitfinex-login https://pastebin.com/EDxPY6Xq

This sucks since I'm not able to use the bot due to this.

This happens on 3.6 too, is having issues for anyone else or is it just my pc?

Some people are asking how the Bollinger Band's spot order placing works? Here is an explanation.
(...)

Great explanation, thanks Jonathan. By the way, I asked here in the forum and in an e-mail to support, some days ago, a more detailed explanation about the stop loss options, specially the buy one. Since I still didn't get an answer, it may be more interesting to reply here, because it for sure will be useful to others. Thanks.

Thanks dbolivar,

As for the stop loss. Both the buy and sell side are relative to the last trade. So for the most common stop loss case, the sell side, the percentage you set is relative to the last buy trade that the bot completed. A 5% stop loss will trigger if the price falls 5% below the price the buy trade went through. At that point the stop loss is trigger and the bot sells the same amount to avoid further losses and stops.

It is an exact symmetry with the less common buy stop loss. The idea is that after a sell you might want to get back into a particular currency if the price rises. It is also relative and the trigger point is X% above the last sell trade the bot did. If the price continues to rise and triggers the stop loss the bot will buy the designated amount and stop.

Best wishes,
Jonathan

Maybe someone has an idea, but less pairs might be an option.

The min specs we advise is at least 2GB of RAM.

Best wishes,
Jonathan

The past two updates have caused continuous runtime errors on Win10 x64.  I can't keep the app running for more than an hour without a crash.  No bots running.

Hey,

Sorry about the crashes. How many pairs are you using? And are you using the latest upgrade? Are you maybe using Bitdefender on your System?
Can you send the log and a description on which exchange and how many pairs you are using to support@marginsoftware.de?

All the best,

Rene

I will also respond to support but the details are:

Bittrex, 5 - 6 pairs, latest upgrade (as of today).  I am using Bitdefender.  Does it kill Leonardo?

5-6 pairs is a suggestion from us as bittrex are clamping down on bots. Especially if you run many mArgin maker bots you might fall foul of their filled/cancelled ratio and risk having your API blocked.

As for Bitdefender. You need to exclude leonArdo from Bitdefender's Advanced Threat Defense. In the Advanced Threat Defense exclusions, you can exclude "leonardo.exe", and that seems to do the trick.

Best wishes,
Jonathan

This sucks since I'm not able to use the bot due to this.

The usual reason for a greyed out login button is an extra tab character of whitespace copied over with your API key or secret. Can you check that that is not the case? You can click the small eye icon button next to the drop down list of markets to reveal in plaintext your API info.

If you have no luck with that please contact support@marginsoftware.de and we will help you out.

Best wishes,
Jonathan

Pro Tip: Bollinger Band Bot
1. On your preferred exchange look for 10 of the highest volume pairs
2. Test each pair on leonArdo over candle durations of 1hr, 2h, 8h, 1day looking for a nice sine wave chart on one of the time frames.
3. Create a Bollinger Band bot for the pairs and time frames with the best looking sine wave, there may be only a few
4. Be sure to use The following "Min eff. gain(%)" for both Sell and Buy: 1hr candles = 1%, 2hr candles = 2%, 8hr candles = 3%, 1day candles = 5%
5. Start the bots and monitor the bots at least twice a day - be PATIENT.

This is not investment advice, use at your own risk. Start with VERY SMALL AMOUNTS. A 1hr candle BB bot might trade once a day or more for very small percentages. A 1day candle BB bot may only trade once over a week or two, maybe even longer but the percentages gain may be quite large. Profitable trades should exceed losing trades or something in the mix is not working.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks! For the buy stop loss, though, shouldn't the bot continue trading after the rebuy, to try to make a profit later? After a sell stop loss, it makes more sense to stop the bot, since you won't have the base currency anymore; but on the opposite side, if it rebuys hoping the price will continue to rise, it seems to me a good idea to let the bot run waiting for the next sell signal, to make more profit.

Jonathan,

Here is an issue I am having. I have repeated this over the past few days over and over. I'm using the demo version to evaluate before purchase, but I am having issues where the bot buys, but does not sell once hitting a sell target. This keeps happening and often leads to a stop loss as the sell order never gets placed. It appears that it is a connection issue of sorts with Poloniex. I get a message that there is no BTC to sell, however there is (the amount bought at the last (buy) signal.

I have included a screenshot shortly after the sell order was indicated in the logs (but not placed) - So the timing of the screenshot shows the sell point slightly after it initially triggered, so I am aware that in the image it does not look like the sell point was reached, but in fact it was moments earlier.

Here's a screenshot to show what I'm talking about.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/glw86tp17edycxf/Screen%20Shot%202018-01-13%20at%2011.53.39%20AM.png?dl=0

Where do you see this on the setup box?  "8hr candles"

Be sure to use The following "Min eff. gain(%)" for both Sell and Buy: 1hr candles = 1%, 2hr candles = 2%, 8hr candles = 3%, 1day candles = 5%

LeonAdo uses unusual chart time labels. The 1M, or one months data shown, is comprised of 8 hour candles. Place your cursor over a candle to see the actual time frame.

To further define the candle size:
4Y = 8 day candles
1Y = 2 day candles
6M = 1 day candle
3M = also 1 day candles, just half as many visible
1M = 8 hour candles
1W = 2 hour candles
3D = 1 hour candles
1D = 15 minute candles
12H = 10 minute candles
6H = 5 minute candles
1H = 2 minute candles
30M = 1 minute candles

In the BB Strategy window where variables are set the actual candle size is shown near the top just after "Start with". Not sure why Jonathan chose this format but it makes it dicey to work between leonArdo and other charting apps.

Well that interesting observation!Devs could you please tell us about that choice?

Also , will we be able to add strategies on our own using scripts in the future?

I was thinking of a bot that would accumulate small coins.Buy,sell for profit,add some more coins ->repeat.

Just tried.As I see,the timeframe on the first strategy, (example,if you selected to see 1 week graph candles) the time frames are correct.
It that on all the other the timeframes arent correct and what you described applies.

Hey guys,

A quick (relieving) tip.  Since my phone died and took out my ability to use 2FA, I have had to get all my accounts reset since I have no idea where I left my backup codes.  Anyway, after getting my Bittrex account 2FA removed, then reinstated pretty much instantly with my new (Authy) app, I went to the API section to get ready to have Leonardo reset also.

No need!  It keeps the API's in place for you.  Time saver right there!  Anyway, I'm back in the manual way as well as with Leo.  /phew!
Now just waiting on Binance to reset the darn thing.....

This sounds like a real success story over many other's adventures. I am so glad you were able to get through that transition so easily. I moved to google authenticator for everything. Was a true nightmare trying to get off of SMS with coinbase. First for literally months i could not access the site for two reasons, firefox 57 and whatever the hell they were doing with the phone SMS messages. Me thinks they have a regional filter broadcast, I always use a VPN which often shows the endpoint in another country. I could never receive the SMS messages they said were being sent. OMG, just wanted to choke the little sh--. Finally one day sitting in my living room, I dropped the VPN and dialed and prayed.. it rang! I switched from SMS to google authenticator as fast as my fat fingers would type. Still have to use Chrome over Firefox because FF57 can only access half of the site due to the fonts coinbase switched to, but at least I can move things around as needed. Glad to hear, 2FA is great when it works..

Hello,
can anyone give any tips on how to use min eff. buy gain in BB? With min eff. sell gain its all clear but I have no idea on how to use another one.

Also any tips on how to set margin maker for automated trading? At the moment I have to make corrections manually all the time if the chart goes up or down.

Cheers

Chart in link below is ETH/BTC with 15 minute candles. Effective minimum gain buy price was set at 0.5% in the BB bot strategy. The last Sell is between the two blue buy threshold and minimum gain buy price text boxes.
The Minimum effective gain buy variable is preventing the next buy unless in is 0.5% BELOW the last sell price, regardless of where the Current Buy Threshold is for the BB bot. As you can see this may have caused the bot to miss at least one trade of minimal profit. Net result may be fewer trades but hopefully more profitable trades.
I'm learning this as I go just like the rest of us and while I use the Minimum effective buy price variable I plan on watching its behavior relative to the pair being traded. I may reduce my use of this variable if I think it is choking off too many trades.

https://ibb.co/gNEnxR

Edit:
In reviewing this setup I have decided to disable the "Min eff. buy gain(%)" variable as I believe ETH/BTC is in an up trend. That variable might prevent too many buys in such a trend, limiting profit potential.

Very satisfied with my new Raspberry.
Wasn't expecting such performance from this little beast with just 1 GB ram.

Tried Ubuntu mate first but was eating up almost half of total memory.
Rasbian is tailor made by the team and uses much less memory, it's faster and more efficient.

I left the best last.
It only consumes 2-2.5 watts with leoNardo running along with VNC. That's crazy. I see the numbers on the power meter and can't believe it.
My other 6-core/8 GB ram pc consumed above 70 watts, doing the same job.

Best choice for 24/7 use. Grin

Wow, cool! Thanks for sharing! How is the user interface performance on the Raspberry through VNC? Is it responsive, can you use the chart features without lags? Considering buying a Raspberry myself...
