as your heart also runs at about 60Hz.

You... might want to think about that for a couple seconds.

Or see a doctor.

Hummingbird with a meth problem?

LOL!

So much for brevity. The human body "syncs" with a 60hz signal really easily, and at household voltage that can cause your heart to stop or to beat wrong. At 50 hz this effect is much less likely.

We'll all be sending our miners to data centres in Russia at this rate - Russia 2.4 to 9.58 c/kw according to Wikipedia

I was able to find space mainland USA with 2c offpeak & 3.5 cent peak rates, which is where the miners are going...
and where exactly are your miners? plugged in at a power plant near you?!?

In the US don't forget there is a 'transmission charge' also.  Here in the wonderful state of NJ, it is $0.12 Kwh.  Now add the $0.067 transmission charge for a marvelous total of $0.187 Kwh.

Most of the 'alternative' electric companies fail to mention that you are still going to get charged for transmission.  So the guys that are offering $0.10 Kwh, your final cost is $0.167.

Lets see: 750 Watt 400Gh/s miner - from .187 to .167 yields a savings of $131 per year; and from .187 to .08 yields a savings of $600 per year, down to $579 per year.

I did a search for Russian electric costs, found a .pdf at academia.edu... $.08 Kwh this year, $.10 Kwh next year and rising $.01-.02 cents each year until 2020.  This is because they are going the deregulation route.

Really, if you are going to use COMED RRTP program, watch that 4pm spike to $.078 Kwh.  Oh to be in Illinois again.

You are half right.  The reality is both 50HZ and 60HZ are very hazardous to the human body.  The problem is that both are harmonics of the human heatbeat range (which is roughly 1-3Hz, not 60).  You'd need a much higher frequency to lessen the risk, ie: aircraft generators.  Most aircraft generators run at 400Hz which is too high a frequency to affect the heart.

I'm in Chicago, about a mile west of Wrigley Field. I just checked my power bill.

For ENERGY CHARGE it says 1161 kWh x 0.05589 = $64.89

For DELIVERY AND TAXES they charge me             $60.21

For a grand total of...........                               $125.10

Also Chicago northsider *wave*

520 kWh X 0.05650  = $29.38
delivery/taxes/other = $32.26
----------------
Total: $61.64

Would love to know why taxes cost more than the service, ever.

The rates everywhere are high, going to impact ROI in the long term.  In MA i'm paying .14 through a local muncipality, nearby towns are paying .17-.18.

My partner and I found a site where we can get .04 at commercial rates. He's a network specialist so we're working on leasing the space and setting up hosting with it's own pool.  Costs should be significantly less this way.

Thanks for the correction. It's been a lot of years. I had thought, though, that the 50Hz was supposed to be significantly less dangerous than 60Hz. Could be wrong.

The main lesson I took from Dear ol' Dad was to avoid becoming part of the circuit, regardless of frequency Tongue

In a sea of fake and/or inept mining hardward manufacturers, KNC remains a beacon of hope. The Swedes are well-known for their integrity and this company reiterates this contention!! Long Live KnC!!!! Long Live Sweden!!!! Can't wait until they ship more product at a faster rate which should be very soon my gut tells me.

Just escaped Charleroi in June. The liquor board is bad enough, so bad it got used by the soviets in anticapitalist propaganda, but damn what a PIT! I spent 8 years in that hell hole that I can never recover. I don't understand why the youth of western PA don't leave en masse. It's a horrible, ugly, dystopian nightmare. And I AM being nice.
