btw, meanwhile HF customers getting angry Seems like KnC customers can be relaxed regarding diff jumps in november HF is losing credibility fast. Lets hope this does not turn into yet another BFL, although it is sure starting to look like it.
As for me. When I ordered and paid for my BJ the words 'anticipated' and 'December 31' were not on the site/conditions. Those were added later. It simply stated 'Shipping starts October 20-30, in order of purchase'. Fact.
Well, I got an answer for the suggestion for upgrading the BJs orders into sierras: It's the same exact email i got. BS... bs everywhere. Signed by their ceo, right? I even lost time replying. Ok, i will move on legally. edit: might be xmas until they ship batch one (to 155 customer?) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=262052.msg3405760#msg3405760

v0.97 yes enabledcores yes what is VRM? and how to test VRM?
its in the forum here, but usually, a slo board is meaning most likely that one of the vrm's are not snapped down fully. instead of the heat dissapating to the top cover, it travels down & across to the asic & heats cores, causing the disabled cores. there is a post on how to proceed, but it involves gently pushing them down, and rocking them sxs. a click heard means bingo, then wait & see

Miners should be sold with the warning, You can never get all your Bitcoins back. Hoarding is safe and bitcoin deflation pays you better returns.Sigh. so I guess we should all just unplug & give up then, rats. that and just hope that our transactions will go through. wasn't buying btc not *always* the better choice regarding profit? where you in hope the asic gods would make it change ? pray harder ! some advantages of buying btc are: -no fires, noise, heat -no downtimes, maintenance -no replacement parts and electricity bill reducing whether your amount of mined coins or forcing you put in additional fiat -you can sell them in seconds, not like hardware

@Phoenix1969, No, I mean I expected that I'll surely get the BTC invested, at least after a year of mining. May be some profit second year. I'm sure 99% of people would have thought the same.
Why anyone put their BTC in, when there's no way to take it out? To protect the network from 51% attack?!

As an example, I prefer running hardware with less profit over trading on exchanges. *edit: and I bought miners with fiat

My jupiter has a problem, one board work at half power (2 or 3 times works correctly but no more), seems to be a supply problem, I tried every firmwares and every patches but nothing. How can I test for supply problem? thanks

the only thing you can measure easy is voltage (device ~$5) , http://www.ebay.com/bhp/atx-psu-testerbut not how it behaves under load, therefore you have to spend quite some money http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=Testing_Methodology"SM-268 does 8 loads and is about $2000 USD"

I have to ask, does this look right to everyone? I am wondering if it is a bertmod issue or why I get such poor performance, just disabled cores not showing.

seems like the reason for poor performance shut it down and press carefully (with light pressure) on those silver blocks, if there's a click it should work fine afterwards if it doesn't help, RMA

I tried. Nothing is loose. How to detect which board is faulty? I'd have to send back to KNC some boards, but I do not know which one to send.

just now... Just as a little test... I gently just pressed on the vrm's on the slo sat, and rocked them side to side a tad with the tip of my finger. One of the vrm's gave a little "Click". within 30 seconds, a couple cores were re-enabled in cgminer... and it has gained about 20 WU's in about 5 minutes, and 2-3 gh/s Will keep updated...
few mins later... couple more WU. 1 more gh/s
While my internet was down I shut down the miners and put a bit of cardboard between the VRMs and the ASIC cooler. I looked closely and the metal tops are epoxy'd in place with thin lines of epoxy. The snap could be one of those epoxy lines breaking. I'd like to take the tops off and see if an expensive thermal tape would help any, then re-epoxy. This seems to be very odd. I am guessing that pressing a VRM wouldnt fix an issue with 1 -4 cores being out. Has anyone else done this? I have 4 cores that seem to be consistently off. The theory is that the die is being heated closest to a VRM that is losing heat more than it should from the bottom rather than the top. Its clip-on metal heat sink is epoxied in place with thin dots and lines of epoxy, possibly since the whining noise complaint. If the warm VRM is losing heat primarily via the bottom the heat is moving thru the PCB then adding to the heat of the ASIC. If a technician were holding the PCB by the VRM while carefully placing the epoxy, he could be lifting the heatsink away from the underlying components it's suppose to draw heat from. Then you have a little gap between the heatsink and the underlying components. Some take the board out, and, after placing it on a flat surface so the PCB doesn't flex and break BGA solder points under the ASIC, apply pressure to the top of the VRM but not too much. They try and make better contact of the heatsink plate with the underlying components and in the process sometimes break the epoxy whence they hear a snap.

Run Each board in Turn in Isolation for an Hour each or more. Record the results (Hash rate, HW errors, Cores on and off and VRM DC/DC Status (using bertmod) ).

No. Heat travels best thru metal. Abutting perfectly flat metal surfaces should conduct heat best but the surfaces are never perfect. Heatsink compound or tape of a heatsink compound with high thermal conductivity is sometimes placed between the metal surfaces to fill in air gaps. No heatsink compound or tape conducts heat as well as the metal itself. If one were to put heatsink thermal tape on the outside of a heatsink the heatsink would become less effective at losing heat.

I will report back.

I go with (HW*100)/A
HW error % = HW/A+R+HW where HW = number of hw errors A = number of accepted R = number of rejected with 0.97 I got something like 10-11% after almost 20 hours, whereas before the same miner running with 0.95 I used to have 5-7% Thanks. That changes mine from ~4.4% down to ~4.1%. Although it doesn't agree with BertMod: Device Hardware%=4.9875 Device Rejected%=4.1048 Pool Rejected%=4.3372 Pool Stale%=0.0000 mine is with screenshot of 548.4gh at the time it ranges up to 555gh i'm on .95 Jupiter (stock no changes) with the (HW*100)/A 4.05% and the 2nd method above of 4.27% so don't think i'm gonna upgrade yet...to .97 by the by I think I figured out why it seems folks "destroyed boxes" on arrival pics like mine arrived ...are showing or seem to have less problems.if the damage that severe happened at the beginning of the trip..the miner was basically 'carried" in 2 hands or it would fall out of the box..ie only explanation I can think of in I had only 1 fan loose and it works so well ..so the more destroyed the box the less likely they could toss it like a Frisbee..imho (weird thou) of course it is likely just dumb luck..not sure that is what you want to see thou the DHL guy carrying your crushed wed dripping soggy miner in box with 2 hands to your door ...I musta looked like he just ran over my cat anyway thanks for the info on knc miner use of this info etc Searing
