That sam arsehole, is a man of no dignity, he promised not to mine over 5% of the customers hash rate, and now he is not honoring the refunds that were promise, he is a thief. We should organize, we should not let this crooks get away, they have stole millions from miners like you and me. he sold used junk as new. He is pure filth, he could sell his mother if he could, a perfect example of pure greed and evil.
Unfortunately there isn't much that we can do at this stage. Even at earlier stages the only thing that we could do is not pre-order the Neptune. If you are more inspired than me and think that there is something real and valid that we could do please share, but think of it if it's viable or not first. With expensive hosting (>$0.1/kwh) how can miners who buy overpriced hardware possibly compete with mining operations like datatank with much cheaper hardware and hosting costs less than $0.025/kwh?
The hosting isn´t expensive, (some of it) is a good rate for such high density deployments. At first glance it might be expensive compared to running your miner at home, but even @home you need to factor in the used space, one-time expenses like AC, etc. Finally, deploying at home scales much less easily. The reason why you buy expensive hardware is because datatank isn´t around yet with a deployed mine, therefore there is no pressure for miners to look for maximized efficiency. While DataTank might have 10MW online in 3-6months, it will be only a very small percentage of the network, still enabling less efficient (in terms of OpCost) miners to profit. What I like about jimmothy is that he keeps trying to find arguments in favor of his(AM) inefficient chips. And he contradicts himself a lot by doing that. There are posts of his where he bashes SP-Tech for the pre-orders, but now he is pro DataTank which will deploy in 3-6 months. Other times he is saying that power costs over 0.1$/kwh are high, but he also expects that the bulky and inefficient rockminers will be sold mostly to home users that must pay at least 0.1$/kwh for the power hungry miners.

The law says clearly:
If the product is subject to even one new approach directives, without the CE marking can not be placed on the market or use in the European Union.
In my opinion KnC has no right to perform some of Neptune to turnover inside the EU.

I estimated KNC shipped about 12000 Jupiters last year https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=170332.msg7079650;topicseen#msg7079650and not a single one had any CE mark/certification or any other compliance. Plenty of people asked about this last September/October, but it's the Wild West in Sweden - knc don't care. For a device that is going to be running with such a massive power draw, this is quite worrying.

Hello I have a question? Is Neptune is marked with the CE mark and if so, what is the number? Is it arrived Declaration of Conformity? Please reply Regards
Do people really care if mining devices are marked with various government codes or is it just trolling. Are some countries really that finicky about such things? I received some pretty dodgy shit in the US from foreign countries and have never had a single issue.

They don´t care because it isn´t usually checked within the EU. Customs usually only checks incoming parcels from outside, and only some of them.
As the ce marking is a selfdeclaration anyway, it doesn´t necessarily mean the product doesn´t comply with the standard, they just didn´t print the logo.
IF you want to, you can try and take them to court over it, but i doubt there would be any payment awarded to you, as there is no damage from it (if it doesn´t burn your EU house down, that is)

No, KNC do not get their rigs CE certified. It takes 2-3 days (source http://cointerra.com/update-prototype-testing-completed-certification-production-week/). KNC always say their customers demand they ship immediately, which gives them the excuse to cut corners and avoid getting any European certification to prove their rigs are actually safe. They did not burn-in October Jupiters at all and shipped many faulty rigs. Ask Elenelen - I guarantee their is no CE mark. My October unit was "burned in" to my BTCGuild address for a short time before shipping.

Is Jimmothy shilling for Asicminer? Does he have so much money tied up there?
I hope he does realise that DataTank didn´t limit themselves to one chip producer.
They calculated the example on a basis of known factors today, but ultimately when the Tanks are ready, they will go with the cheapest and most power efficient hardware available.
Whether that will be Asicminer, remains to be seen.

I know lots of us were watching our bitcoin address for any indication that our rig was built and ready for shipping, but don't remember anyone saying they actually saw their burn-in at the pool. I know for a fact they didn't burn in my rig because: 1. it came with the correct pool details I supplied to them, so any hashing would have showed up in the pool if they had burned it in 2. It was so faulty, which they would have known if they'd plugged it in for even 10 seconds.

A point of the CE mark, in this case, would be to ensure that the device was electrically safe, and wouldn't overheat and melt the power connectors. Seems like that would be useful, no?

I can almost guarantee that it would never qualify for a CE mark in that case. I don't think many people would disagree with me at this point.

It is likely no CE markings are required on the Neptune boards. Not all products sold in the EU need to have CE marking. CE marking only applies to products which fall under one or more EU Directives. These determine the specific requirements that the product must meet in order to be CE marked. For example EU requirements for medical devices. It is likely that the Neptune boards do not fall directly under any of the EU Directives. In this case no CE marking is required. Anyone saying the Neptune boards need CE markings need to specify the relevant EU Directive. If there is no relevant directive there is no need for a CE marking. It is likely that KNC would argue that bitcoin mining boards running at 12V (and which are not sold as general consumer products) do not need CE markings. See http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/policies/single-market-goods/cemarking/about-ce-marking/index_en.htm

This one: http://www.ce-marking.org/what-product.html3. Low Voltage Electrical Equipment The "Electrical Equipment" means any equipment designed for use with a voltage rating of between 50 and 1000 V for alternating current (A.C.) and between 75 and 1500 V for direct current (D.C.). Therefore, it is called often "Low Voltage Electrical Equipment" which includes the vast majority of electrical equipment in everyday use.

That must be why they don't provide power supplies, to avoid being within the AC rating.

Neptune's arrived about five minutes ago - Batch#1 order paid for on the 26th November. I'll let you guys know how they perform! Even though they are late (very late) I am a bit excited :-D http://s27.postimg.org/gvtkm262n/20140624_135608.jpgIf it is preconfigured with any pool details I will let everyone know.

Neptune Third Batch 3.3TH/S for $6000. Delivery unknown.
Or
Spondoolie SP30 6TH/S for $5095 and these come with power supplies. Delivery September.
And I missing something?
Nope, The SP30 is indeed a better deal, way better. there is a group buy thread for a sp30 at 4500 getting started...i think it is the 2nd batch sept order? on the other hand perhaps BTC ...just buy coin already is the better deal right now...awful lot of hash hitting the blockchain etc Searing Neptune Third Batch 3.3TH/S for $6000. Delivery unknown.
Or
Spondoolie SP30 6TH/S for $5095 and these come with power supplies. Delivery September.
And I missing something?
6TH and comes with power supplies. 2 x 2500 watt supplies? Going to have to put it in a data center. No way you can run it in your garage unless you do some major electrical work. 2 1250 w power supplies me thinks? on a side note i have a sept sp30 coming (yeah prob should have just bought coin) and a Titan so 2500w for sp30 and 1250 watts for the Titan. Anyway hosting it in my cold upper midwest basement (will likely need a/c in Aug/Sept) anyway have a 100 amp service called elec inspector (have no central a/c and gas water heater etc) and he said it would have no problem on a 100 amp service even running 3,750 watts on miner and 1 a/c unit in my bedroom and maybe a small a/c unit in the basement casement window..just to monitor it..i live aloine also lite use can be 'creative' on clothes drying and/or using the stove/oven if needed so 'supposedly' i should be ok? (the elec company is gonna 'own my ass') also as a side note anyone that is 'inspired/er stupid' enough to host such in their basement the elec company said i could get 'commercial elec rates' in my house (residential neighborhood) ..the fees are more the rates are less I likely will only shave off 3c a kwh or so but what the heck anyway what i think i know so far on the above (it changes daily what i think i know about stuff) Searing Bedroom? How old are you? Do you just rent a room or a house or something? You have BIG balls if you are going to run an SP30 in a room. First it's huge. Double the size of the SP10 and weighs quite a bit. When shipped, it is considered "freight" and not a package because it weighs so much. I have 100 amp service, could get away with running my SP10 but the noise was too much. I can just see you....when trying to wash clothes have to turn the miners off, then switch back real quick after the last load. Is you stove electric to? Yikes, can't make that mac-n-cheese when mining away!

But will only mine 4 BTC if it comes in beginning September =:0 I was told they will try to ship them out around the 2nd week of September. So it is at least the 2nd week. Could be the 3rd or 4th.

They are both bad deals.
Yuuuuup! perhaps it's not the miner which is a bad deal, but how the buyer uses it. I have $5095 Option A: buy 8.5 bitcoin today Option B: buy a 6 TH/s miner with delivery in september that will mine back in its lifetime less than 5 bitcoin (and thats assuming it is delivered beginning of september). Oh, and you still have to pay for power and rewiring your house. Please do enlighten us all and tell us how a buyer could go for option B and possibly be better off than option A? What is your magic secret? It is timing right now. Because KNC is dumping their Neptune's and adding a gooooooglemess of hashrate to the network it is not the best time to pre-order anything that cost $5095 and then you get it 2 months later. Also a couple other smaller companies selling hardware, not as quickly or in mass, but still getting it out there. You can't really lose then if you just buy the bitcoin. I always think in my mind it will go up, so that's why I say buy it! If I can't get an SP30 at a ridiculously low price, then I'll just buy a few bitcoin and run my current hardware until it is not profitable, that's all. I'd love to stay in the mining community, but as I said before this summer is the last time for consumers. Going forward it all goes to the corporate fat assess and cloud based solutions, which will be a total scam. Think about it, why would a cloud hashing company sell/lease you any tera-hashes and let you actually make any money from it? I wish I had better writing skills to explain what's in head.
