I"M HAPPY AS FUCK!!! BTW

I know. Back in April I said you were the only guy who should hodl their neptune order  Grin

-snip-
tolip_wen is the only person who should be keeping their Neptune order, as he'll get about $10k worth of pleasure dissecting, measuring, probing and hacking his Neptune Smiley Anyone in it for the money, it makes no sense to hodl.

I think those who refund the Neptune and bought 20BTC have already got the best possible outcome if they are interested in BTC. As BTC is around $450 right now, it's still a great time to get out and buy coins instead of trying to mine them.
-snip-

 Kiss

I handed out good advice all year, like the above. Those with fingers in their ears and didnt listen?

Anyway, enjoy your Neptomb.

There are lots of ways to invest.
There are lots of metrics to measure success.

I think declaring everyone who does not follow your strategy and metric a fool is flawed logic.

YMMV
Smiley
As you can read, I didn't. I said you could enjoy it for the hacking value. And

Anyone in it for the money, it makes no sense to hodl.

Anyone fully aware of the facts and happy to lose money, then that is fine by me. But they shouldn't be on here complaining if they made that decision to be content to lose their money.

People being sad about no roi should be very aware that was always how it would turn out. See a zillion previous posts which said this would be the case. It's no surprise, unless they had their fingers in their ears for the last 7 months.

This thread is going way off topic.
Avenger, your postings are not always 100% bullshit, but the way you keep repeating the same shit is.
Putting salt on open wounds.
If people know what Evil Sam was up too, noone would invest in KfC.
I am lucky, I refund in early february,  refund was fast. I feel the pain of all the people who
keep believing in KfC and how they are treated by Sam Cock as toilet paper.
FUCK YOU SAM COCK.

I think anyone who looks at USD cost and return as the metric of success foolish.  I don't know if that's how you view, but it must be because you seem certain that this was a good investment.  However, I disagree.  Anyone who has half a brain in their head should have refunded their order when BTC was at a local minima.  Evaluating your investment in any other capacity is (IMO) a shallow attempt at convincing ones self they made the right move, when, outside the realm of emotional involvement it most certainly is/was not.

Unless I am mistaken you were poking fun at happy customers in the post I replied to.

I agree with you about some of the complainers. (lost standing in my mind by waiting too long)

There are valid complaints aplenty.
Waiting for product and refunds come to mind.
Typical issues with bleeding edge whatever causes frustration too.
I say let 'em vent but also don't stoke the fire of you REALLY don't like the steam.

You got better game than insulting happy people. (I seen it in this here thread)
If you are trying to educate the rest, insulting your target audience has low probability of success.

In my twisted mind anyways!

YMMV

Unless I am mistaken you were poking fun at happy customers in the post I replied to.

Now I see. Nope, you got it all wrong. I didn't just post a picture of a monkey, unrelated to anything else.

I was debating with AFox, pointing out things it seems he just didn't want to see/hear.

Edgar pointed out he was doing the classic "lalala, i'm not listening". Usually people put their fingers in their ears when they say this. Like

So I posted a picture with a monkey with his fingers in his ear - you know from that saying - see no evil, HEAR NO EVIL etc.

So I think you didn't read the thread properly and just assumed that picture was directed at everyone. Which it wasn't.

I just noticed your sig:

Quote
My BTC mining address : 1NoRoihSKUCsXy1XKuy5KaFhqZsad1ETUn

You've accepted you've been screwed. Therefore, why all the fuss?

You do realise if you mine 5BTC with a Neptune and the price of BTC skyrockets to $2000/coin, all that means to you is you make back what you spent.

The guys with sense and good timing got back 22BTC for Neptune refunds. And if the price of BTC skyrockets to $2000/coin, they will have pocketed a cool $44,000. With no hassles, no electricity costs, no RMA's etc.

Argue away, but you do know you were screwed by KNC. I don't see why you are defending them. Unless it's Stockholm Syndrome Wink

My signature is humour, has everybody think they won't get ROI.
Predicting the future in Bitcoin mining is not a easy task, you have to take in count BTC price and difficulty (and delays in mining hardware), that are unpredictable.
Lot's of people don't believe it, you're the first one, but I think ROI is possible, in 6 to 12 mouths, for Batch 0, 1 and 2. Specially with the second free miner.

I payed around 13 BTC to get a Neptune (12176,48$ @ 940$/BTC).
Those were mined BTC and I don't care if I loose them.
You will able to follow how much I earned, as I'm going to use the address in my signature.

Anyways, here's a special BTC address for you :

What are the dimensions of the Neptune board excluding the heat sink, ali plate and so on? Also what are the tallest components on the board and how tall are they?

Thanks

FYI: I don't even have an "in progress" on my order yet; maybe they have decided to honour my refund?

PCB is 160mm x 135mm
Holes >= 3mm
145mm x 120mm (145 is guess by also subrtacting 15 from 160 as they look uniform in pics.
75mm square pattern for ASIC cooler
(3mm heatsink holes can be an issue with common mounting hardware I drilled my PCBs)
(same as Intel LGA 1155/1156 garden variety heatsinks)

height from ASIC side of PCB
Tallest is cap near power input <25mm
Next is top of ribbon connector at 15mm
Next is power connector ~12mm from PCB to top of locking tab add for operation of tab on PCIe cable.
Next is top of VRMs 7ish mm
ASIC is approx 3mm

YMMV

What I did

https://i.imgur.com/M4hAltp.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/UxAirwg.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/0P54Tic.jpg

What I would do next time.
(upper right)
https://i.imgur.com/8dEDdmW.jpg

It's a clay sammich on clay bread.

Recipe:
Harvest some clay from along the fan side for improved airflow.
Save it CLEAN in a ziplock.
DO NOT REMOVE AS MUCH AS I DID at first.
You will have 4 more to perfect technique and test.
Cut some slices and place where needed on remaining clay bread.
Bake @ 70C for 6 months on an Ericsson griddle.
Serve open face with local garnish Smiley

Tools needed:
PAPER TOWELS
razor blade
Torx T-10 (with big enough handle and tall enough to easily clear top of heatsink with hand)
Optional/likely, more goo when ya bump the heatsink removing screws.

To remove plate:
Remove cover.
Bend sides out to make room for hand.
Hold base of heatsink in place with one hand while removing screws with other.
SLOWLY lift up on plate at one of the ends of the fingers.
When it starts to lift loosen other finger.
Slow and gentle so as not to remove heatsink when it lets loose.
Once the plate has been tipped a bit the other end is easy to lift.
Lift er up and slide her out for clay harvesting goodness.

Extra harvesting tips:
The remaining clay needs to remain along the outside edge of the plate.
Never lifting it is best if possible, it can droop down during installation and not cover VRM.
(next to sammich in pic)
The plate screws need to tighten all the way down to hold the heatsink flat when re-installing.
Too thick a sammich not better if you crush the VRMs.
Thin sammich all around might help too, thickening on fingers only.

I added a single AC box fan $20.00 USD to help the cubes and ran @ 500 while air cooling with ambient > 83C
The lower right of wish pic shows result of bendage method.
I left the PCB low in the case and left lower clay in place but added some airflow to cool bottom of case.
(my setup was temporary, else lift the PCB up too if possible)

YMMV

What's your hashrate @ 500mhz?
Between 3.4 and 3.5, 3.43 or better average after a few hours.
Pool agreed.
2 day test.

Currently with 7 die @ 475 and 13 @ 500
also temporarily uncomfortable VRMs

Holes >= 3mm

YMMV

Perfect, thanks. Always nice to have dreams of 10x Neptune boards in Novec 7100 for a nice compact 4kW electric water heater.

I have a 225mm diameter thick walled glass jar that would be ideal for purpose. Sounds like five would fit with 30mm gap between no problem but then for ten it would require those capacitors to be removed and re-soldered laying on their sides (plus a crap load of cooling).

Isn't it funny how most western hardware manufacturers have gone with large monolithic chip designs that run into all these heat/power density problems, bigger is always better right?

BREAKING TITANIC NEWS
by Mr. A. Venger

Actually, just an interesting article for "no refunds" Titanic customers. Cheerful reading 2-6 months b4 it ships  Cheesy

http://www.coindesk.com/litecoin-price-decouples-bitcoin-slump-continues/
ROI in trouble?

The biggest problem is the sheer lack of money in litecoin and that other popular alternative cryptocurrency dogecoin.

The combined market cap of the two most popular scrypt altcoins is about $250m, yet KnCMiner was hoping to sell 2,500 Titan miners at $10,000 apiece – and that’s just the first batch of such miners, from a single company.

In other words, if it shipped today, a single batch of KnC’s scrypt miners would cost $25m – roughly 10% of the combined market cap of litecoin and dogecoin.

A glance at those figures reveals that this level of investment in scrypt mining hardware will be hard to justify and maintain in the long run.

Additionally, the added hashing power these miners will bring is likely to further impact prices of scrypt-based altcoins in the near future.

"Breaking News"

Scriptminers are not stuck with Litecoin and Dogecoin.
All mining is speculation, not guaranteed income, and everyone knows that; evidently, except you.
There are also well over 300 scrypt-coin to choose from now, with plenty of room for speculation, especially if "coin-hopping",
and many folks are STILL turning a profit with GPU's.
"Market caps" only reflect the total fiat value of a coin at current prices, and have little bearing on what you can make in the long-run.

Why is this even posted here? This should be in the "Mining Speculation" thread.

NEWS FLASH

It's the 8th day into Q3 and my order still says "paid".

Payment cleared December 8th; I checked with my bank so that's seven full months.

Come on KnC, it's time to give me my money back!
