Do you feel shameful for being a gambler?

I dont understand why somebody feels shameful if it is gambler when gambler is person who have more money that he needs and he can trow it to wind to risk to get more money and other person with less money cant affort this.

In many cultures and countries is gambling consider as a bad thing which only the poorest and silliest ones do. Many gamblers try to hide that they gamble from their friends and families and feel really shameful for that. Do you consider gambling as a bad thing? People who bets and loses their family money should be shamed as they are not doing something good.
If they will be shamed it will maybe make them stopping which is a good thing.

i am sure that in your area, playing gambling is a normal activities but i don't think that in other area which is other country, gambling is normal activities too because every country or city have the different views about gambling so people is not thinking the same about gambling. but i have see in my city that people which is doing gambling is not being shameful and they don't hiding their activities from other people because they said to me that they don't hurt any other and they only do what they want.

well gambling may cause addiction yes but i don't think a person can't determine what he knows is right or wrong. a person knows for himself if what he is doing is having a negative effect on himself, his family and other people around him and if that person decides to ignore these things and continue gambling even with the consequences becoming obvious, i think that's when it becomes shameful

i think it is not shameful to become addicted but it is really shameful to lose everything in gambling. as we can see that most of the people who lose money in gambling is because of become addicted and having no control on their emotions but if a person lose everything and even their children school's fee then it is really shameful.

To be addicted, that's something to be taken care of. Maybe you are defining addict as always playing, but being addicted means that you bet everythjng and still finding a way to get money in order to gamble still. That's addiction and you should consult a doctor or psychiatrist.

yeah if you can no longer control yourself and from time being you always finding ways just to play gamble without any reason or no longer thinking if you have some edge its already coming to a big problem called addiction you better need some help from your love ones and focus to some other sort of things that you can use your time to be busy.

I do agree with your statement, you cant control yourself if you are being addicted in gambling and you really find ways to play gambling without any reason. For that circumstances that happened, I think that’s shameful as gambler just for letting yourself get addicted and thinking only for your own goodness. In order to overcome that shame, you should avoid that all situations mentioned to happen so that you will not be ashamed even though you gamble; anyway gambling is for fun and not for addiction.

Well, if that's how you could earn in your community, then you should not be shameful about gambling since everyone else is doing the same. It just don't look normal when you went to other place. But I am sure, it looks like when you gamble in your community, it means business.

Of course i don't feel shameful for gambling because it is not a profession, it is just a source of having some fun for me and while having fun if i can earn some money then what is bad in that? Actually no one even knows that i gamble because i do it online and except me no one is aware about what i do online, so obviously no.

if you live in a religious place you might will know how the feeling.
i personally live in a kind place like that , and showing yourself as a regular gambler is just a big blunder.

That's normal... If your girlfriend is a straight forward, then expect more of that if you lover and she loves you... You are lucky, your girlfriend still cares for you... Others would just leave their boyfriend if they see that the guy is not good and has a gambling habit...

But anyway, If your family, girlfriend, friends, look at your gambling habit as wrong, then I think it would really be shameful to still do it even if it makes you feel happy... You'll really have to choose between gambling and them...

Because she dont want you to be addicted or wants you to do important things than being a gambler. in our love ones being a gambler is shameful because its not a good hobby but for others who dont know us i think they didnt mind as long as you are not stealing money to someone to sustain what you do.

No way , I can't be ashamed of what I profit from, it's always been a great experience gambling either the fun part or when I do win and make some profits. The bookies are hard to beat so I always jubilate over my wins against them. The more I win the more my friends revere me so the opposite is really the case with me.

I have not really thought of it has shame has I have not done anything wrong or owe somebody some cash , so there is no reason for me to be shameful about gambling or being a punter.

Society doenst try to make you feel shameful?

Society is another factor, when you live in a place that's full of people that has a very bad way of thinking with gambling. That can affect you, your family and friends because we know that when a crowd shouts 'shame to you, gambler' that will make you feel that you don't belong to them and that's force shame.

If that is how they see it, then in the first place you would not be influence and will learn gambling. I don't know if there are really a community that hates gambling because for me it is just s pure game and entertainment. People can play if they want and they are not force to spend their hard earn money.

If you are living in a religious place or you are part of religious family then they hate gambling. Admit it or not there are places are like this and they are making fun for those people who are into gambling. Instead of helping those type of people, they are putting them down with their ego's and that's making them more shameful to gamble.

Maybe gambling is considered a sin that is why they have that reaction every time they caught someone gambling, if I live with that pace, maybe I would have not known gambling in the first place. Fortunately, I live in a country where we have democracy, we are free to do whatever we want and gambling is just considered as an entertainment and the government has no negative actions as long as they have their fair share.

I agree but I don't think anywhere in the world government is the one who has problem with gambling , mostly the reason for this is they can collect huge amount of tax and fees from them.
The main problem is the society they don't like gamblers because they think it's illegal , bad etc but they don't have any sort of problem from the owners of the casinos as they know they are money man and they can use them whenever they want for monry. That's the sad part this is how are world like this nowadays.

There is no doubt the gambling industry moves a lot of money that is why some cities legalize gambling so they can reinvigorate their local economies and most of the time it works, or look at bitcoin and see the gambling industry we have, which grows every year and new improved casinos appear every month.

You have to know what is more important to you, probably it's the girl that you loved and in that case you have to sacrifice gambling to have the girl. In time once you have the girl you can go back in gambling and explain to here that entertainment you get from it, you have your life as well and that does not stick with your girl only, as long as it will not affect the relationship, there's no problem with that.

Well leta face it, at some places, gambling is placed in such a negative light that yeah people would look differrntly on youbif they know you're a gambler. But i don't think there's any reason to be ashamed here in your case. If you're a respobsible gambler then explain to her that gambling is not that bad if you nuat handle it correctly. If she really doesn't want a gambler, then make a choice, stop gambling or look for a different girl that can accept the things that you like
