....
...... I lived briefly on a remote atoll in French Polynesia and there were very few rules where I lived, breaking up hermit crabs to put on a fishing line to catch my dinner. No Internet, solar for electricity, rain for water. Very simple, nobody to enforce any "laws" other than nature.

Well that sounds like fun. I'll go out on a limb here and assume there was no bitcoin ATM....

But hey, maybe Jeff whathisname character can do that worn out 15 years ago  "Survivor"  show  there.....
(Season 289 or some such ridiculous thing)

As I sit here in the night thinking, I must admit that I'm getting a strange feeling of racing against time.
I'm just not entirely sure that the world as I know it will last until the next ATH in Q4 2021, and I really want to cash out enough money to be able to get the hell out if TSHTF.

Because it hasn't (yet) in my corner of the world, and I usually, based on history, think that it won't. But I'm beginning to hesitate. It very much depends on the actions of the government in the coming years.

Does it, really?
I am starting to believe that we are moving to a bit more chaotic world in the interim.
Maybe something similar to a "Snow crash" world with many small jurisdictions.
It could be different in Europe, but in US the gap (in almost everything) between some places is vast and expanding.
Additionally SHTF situation and "cashing out enough money" kind of contradict each other.
What is money then? If money is unaffected, then it is hardly the dire situation.
If money is affected, then the question is-which assets (if any) you want to hold?
Not an easy answer.

In my corner of the world there are already bread lines (well, meat lines...and lines to get into the store, lines lines lines...). I used to be told horror stories as a kid about that happening in the evil USSR. I used to read about how when Venezuela collapsed people had to wait outside the grocery store for very little food.

And yet I am now living it and people think everything's fine. Social responsibility and all. We're in this together. The new communism normal and all that.

We all knew there would be a second wave too. Everyone knew. Because they had to. Because it was already built in to everything. No matter what the death rates, they must have a second wave. The final death blow...

I'm working on the solution for those that get it. Working my ass off to make it happen. Hopefully things fall into place.

Well, if it is not gonna last (as you know it) even until Q4 2021... Why the need to cash out for? What is your EXIT-PLAN?

Well, all the neighboring countries are pretty stable, so all I have to do is go across the bridge to Denmark,I don't really need any elaborate exit plan.
But the Swedish politicians and elite seems to have awaken abruptly recently, since the violence spread into the middle class and upper class areas.
Now everybody is talking about and planning for stricter laws, even deporting foreigners before they have committed any crime, just because they belong to a certain group or clan.
Repatriating those who are not real refugees is also on the table. Things are moving fast here right now, and it almost happened overnight. So there still is a chance to stop the balkanization of Sweden.

Not all the world is affected at the same level, and the Scandinavian countries are usually not as much affected as many other countries are.

i still think major currencies will be used in a shithitting situation, besides I'm talking about having money BEFORE TSHTF.

Peak bull run can’t come soon enough for me. I’d be happy to be on an island on my own, free from nonsense, draconian, communist type ruling that we seem to be living under atm. Nobody will be forcing me to wear a mask to go in a shop once we make bank.

Probably because there will be no shop nor anything else in that island and, even then, it would probably be cheaper to buy some piece of land way bigger than the island and with more services available.

Even if I don't have any idea of how is the situation in Sweden, that makes more sense. I mean, I thought when you said "world as I know it" you really meant about the whole world. Of course there will always be better places/countries to be and money can really help you about that. Unless worldwide shit happens though. Who knows. TBH I think everything is "fine". We will see.

Sweden needs to tackle the immigration problem otherwise it will slip into a shithole.

Sweden’s new epidemic: clan-based crime.
Quote
We have an obvious problem,’ admitted the Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven recently. He was referring not to the Covid pandemic, but to a summer of crime that has left even jaded Swedes reeling in disbelief. There are regular bombings, hand grenade attacks and shootings. Young men are killing each other at a horrific rate — ten times that of Germany. The feeling is growing that the government has completely lost control. Yet, while Löfven has finally acknowledged the existence of the problem, he still seems in denial about its true nature.

My rookie tip: If you ever sell, don't sell it all, keep at least 10% of your corn for hodling.

I am thinking about a formula that aim to NOT sell more than 10% for every range - such as every 100% (or maybe less selling and a greater range?)

But it would go something like this:

Let's say that you started buying BTC at or near the top of the last bubble, but you stuck with it and you kept dollar cost averaging in.  Accordingly, you have a average cost per BTC that is around $8k per BTC, and so you are a bit concerned about what to do.

You decide that you will sell no more than 10% of your stash for every time that the BTC price doubles (if it does)

Therefore, you have authorized yourself to sell 10% of your stash at any point of your own choosing at each point within the below prices ranges:

1) $10k to $20k (10% of total stash)

2) $20k to $40k (10% of total stash)

3) $40k to $80k (10% of total stash)

4) $80k to $160k (10% of total stash)

5) $160k to $320k (10% of total stash)

6) $320k to $640k (10% of total stash)

7) $640k to $1.2m (10% of total stash)

Cool Etc. etc. etc

Reasonable?  Maybe?  Maybe not, but I know that no matter at what BTC price range that I am within, I am hanging onto most (90%) of my BTC within that BTC  price range, and I can plug those numbers into a spreadsheet to project the size of my BTC stash and to consider whether I believe that those sales amounts would be reasonable for my own particular situation.

I can project, based on the speculation of my particulars, what will be the amount of BTC that I sell at each price point, what my BTC amount remaining after each of those projected sales points, how much fiat will I have raked in from each of the sales points, how such raking in of fiat adds up at each of the sales points (and cumulatively), and am I comfortable with those numbers?

If I am comfortable with the numbers, then I execute my BTC sales in accordance with the plan

If I am not comfortable then I tweak some (or all) of the variables of the plan... and reassess them until I am as comfortable as I can be with such plan in order to feel executing such plan when the BTC price reaches my range (or a specific price that I have chosen within the price range).

Anyways... I think The Dude is a ladies' man, so I'm pretty sure he won't have trouble getting another princess soon... If I had a daughter, I'd send her his way... Nice guy, coiner (most importantly), and a guaranteed life of luxury and pleasure... Wink  What more could a girl ask for?

Oh my!!!!  I may have been away too long to let you guys get carried away....

Who let the dogs out...

Seems a bit much to be vouching your daughter(s) over to random interweb peeps.  #nohomo

This correlation with legacy markets is god damn annoying. I don't even need to check the Bitcoin price any more, just check nasdaq, s&p, gold.

When is supply finally going to be overrun so that we can decouple from this bullshit.

It is most likely to happen when you least expect it (or when you are not watching)

It's the observer effect.

I will leave for another time some reflections on the production of heirs, and familial standards for marriage, etc.  It’s time to birth a meme.  Which I simply found too amusing to resist.  It is not directed at any particular gentleman present.  Unless his daughter is hot—and she does Bitcoin, and vice versa.

Sound investment and risk management advice.  I would add to avoid the proudhon strategy of shorting your daughter(s) with high leverage.

Seems that at least they solved their  so called pandemic problem.

Every country is doing things slightly differently, we should try to learn from what works and what doesn't.
Sweden has made mistakes, but their numbers right now show that we should at least consider why they're so low.

Getting too close to $10k for my liking.

I missed buying the dip last time it dropped into the $9k's. Wonder if it will drop that low again, or support will hold...
