Guys and gals - let's stop complaining about that 17925 block. It's more than abundantly clear that something went wrong (or at least doesn't meet our expectations). For good or bad - Slush is the only one that can tell what exactly happened and fix it. And after all - for majority of us the lost amount is rather insignificant - the daily income would be affected by a single-digit percentage. So - let's stop whining about it. Slush hasn't posted for over a week, so hi might be on vacation and therefore won't be able to fix it. If that's the case - we'll have to live with it. Speak for yourself, bud or perhaps, honey. If the complaining/whining bothers you, then don't listen or rather, skip the damn post and don't read it. You do know that you have a choice, right? Don't poke your nose into other people's business just for the sake of posting anything even if it's rubbish just so you can have the pleasure of reading your own post, over and over again. Except that I had the exact same thing happen to me in the next block, too - meaning that I now distrust the reward calculations being made. Even if the amounts being discussed are trivial, what is the point of mining at all if you aren't being paid fairly for the work you do?
I like Slush's pool, but have to consider moving over to a different pool if the problems here can't be resolved. I don't mine for the money, I do it for the score and the BTC mined is how the score is kept.

So no one else is having cgminer reject shares from the proxy? All of my pc's keep doing it at randomly every couple days. I didn't have any issues before that DDOS issue with the pool a few weeks ago. The proxy reports that share was above target.. It doesn't effect all my pc's at once though, and if I restart cgminer on the effected pc it starts accepting shares again.
I have cgminer jumping from stratum.bitcoin.cz to stratum2.bitcoin.cz, stratum3.bitcoin.cz, api.bitcoin.cz and off the pool to a backup pool now for about 2 days... Before that there were missing shares. Now I'm not sure if this is related... And since I don't see any posts from Slush I really don't see any reason to report since it took me a lot of posts explaining how I know that shares are missing and nothing changed since no one could look into that. Sounds like something different. I wish mine would jump to the next pool. It just rejects shares and never switches to the backup pool. |

I'll be short with my answer as it is as useful as yours. Block 17925 was reported over and over and over. The last few pages are full of reports about it. Adding yet another post about it adds no further value to the conversation. As I said earlier - it is more than abundantly clear that many many people are affected. I'm more than certain that Slush can easily get the list of all affected users without every single one of us having to tell him. So - pretty please - can we stop posting any more new messages saying "I was affected by block 17925 too"? Feel free to PM if you want to continue that conversation as I don't want to pollute the forum any further. And my apologies to the rest of the forum for wasting everyone's time. |

I second that - I like slush's pool because it is more exciting then others. The way rewards are computed per found block makes it feels more like a game (oh how many blocks we found today!?!?!) whereas in other pools (PPS, even shifts PPLNS) it feels more like repetitive water drops in terms of earnings - the outcome is more or less pre-determined for a day with your computational power. But fluctuations are really wild at times here and we need confidence that the pool rewards are computed correctly and honestly. I think what happened on this block is just a combination of really bad timing and the reward computation algorithm. But if so maybe an algorithm needs a closer look. After all we don't want a "hop-resistant" algorithm to drive people out of the pool due to loss of confidence. |

besides the afformentioned blocks with issues ( yea, took a while to read 9 pages to catch up.. ) i've noticed since getting a GPU to mine with ( roughly 3.9-4.2Mhash/sec with GUIMiner ) that i'm missing shares, it shows X and when I compare with the stats and the earnings pages, i'm down between 1 and 5 per block. I do have a Namecoin wallet and the current name coin is a few days running ( and still running ) so... are my ' missing ' blocks namecoin or bitcoin and not showing? GUIMiner shows them IN the brackets after the number found and 0 stale. I would apreciate an answer from Slush ( if he's finaly caught up with sleep after the server move, etc, etc.. )
I managed to restart and it showed 7 accepted/sent ( as in 7(7) for that worker ) but when it finished the stats page shows
