the pool is already anti-hop as much as it can be...nothing really slush can do about it...

No. The pool is hoppable. PPS, PPLNS or DGM are not hoppable. Slush's score method is hoppable.

How do you know people are hopping? It looked like hash rate did not drop (or not much anyways) during bad luck day.

I'm still getting the "No connections could be made because the target machine actively refused it" error in guiminer

It's only when I use it through my vpn, which I consider essential for using the internet.  Why is my VPN fucking this up?

I downloaded the latest guiminer before I made this post and am still getting the error.

edit:  it just randomly out of the blue decided to work after a restart.  This happens over and over though.  Any ideas on how to fix it?

How do you know people are hopping? It looked like hash rate did not drop (or not much anyways) during bad luck day.
According to http://blockchain.info/pools when Slush pool entered into good luck its market share has grown almost twice. In the same time 50btc has lost about a half of its share. Hashing rate at Slush has grown about 0,5Th in a day or two.
I understand that blockchain data is not exact. But it seems like there are too many coincidences in a very short period of time.

blockchain.info's graph is based on blocks, not actual hashing speed.  If the pool has good luck, it will be larger on the chart.  If it has bad luck, it will be smaller.  That has absolutely no indication of pool hopping (at least using that chart).

Try using stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 manually instead of using the slush choice from the drop down.

I think its using a the proxy/old getwork url?

Yeah, GUIminer's server.ini uses api2.bitcoin.cz:8332  Just like the website suggests.

stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333, I thought, was the ipv6 address.

i was having this problem also, and i was tired... i finally decided to switch to BFGminer, and it seems to recover by itself when there is an outage.
Also, i have a better score ? anyway.

For the last week or so I have pointed each 50% of my hashes to slush and another merged NMC pool. On slush I got confirmed 1.42348140 NMC, on the other pool 4.15565092 NMC. In other words about three times as much on the other pool.

How come there is such a big difference?

Now we have difficulty problem.
I set 2, I see stratum diff 8.
And what is worse, someone (admin?) changed my account settings (difficulty).

I'm pretty sure it starts hashing automatically after a few minutes of getting the error.  I'll report back.

Add this in the server.ini of guiminer.

restart guiminer, Try the alt server. All your setting should be there still.

Code:
        {
            "balance_host": "mining.bitcoin.cz",
            "balance_token_url": "http://mining.bitcoin.cz/accounts/token-manage/",
            "balance_url": "/accounts/profile/json/%s",

            "port": 3333,

The merged namecoin mining is only done by the portion of the pool that is still on the old get work protocol. Therefore only about 6% of the pools total hash power is going towards merged mining, and then divided by all who have the option turned on.

Is there a problem with the statistics page on Slush at the moment.

I seem to be only being credited with one of my workers out of 2 for several rounds. Strange that it seems it is every other round that one of my pool of shares seems to be missing.

Looking closely this definately seems to be the case. I have Catanonia.Worker1 and Catanonia.Worker2 and every other round one of them seems to be missing from my allocation on the stats page for the last day.  Normally I average 0.0028 per worker and one of the 2 hour rounds it was 0.0013 combined according to the stats page. Way way low. Many others like it.

edit : Numbers are wrong on the stats page, they don't add up.

Block No 230223    Total Shares 1391061   My Shares 200    Reward  0.00345409    Total  25.19777022

So 200 / 13910618 * 25.19777022 = 0.00366  About right with deductions

Block No 230220    Total Shares 18833717   My Shares 2646    Reward  0.00134827    Total  25.58996000

2646 / 18833717 * 25.58996000 = 0.00366  Massively wrong and seems if a worker and shares are missed here

this is happening every other round and is completely negating all of my profit with 2 cards running.

Edit : Appears this is by design. As it was the weekend I was testing out kit and playing some games for 8 hours and this seems to have affected my score and pool hoping code.

I'v been pool hopping for a few weeks now. Looking for the best payouts. And this is going to be a dumb question but where it says "Suggested difficulty" What should I put there?

ok so i put 7,673,000 in the suggested difficulty field?

When you edit a worker there is a drop down for your expected hash rate, it'll fill that in for you.
