I tried using the optional miner on Win7 32bit and got significantly less Mhash/s(usually get 225 and was getting 200-210) Was there something I was doing wrong?

Not to my knowledge. One of the forum members here, DeathAndTaxes is a wiz with this kind of thing though. He posts some advice from time to time on this thread.

Yeah, I was using the newest bit minter. I tried everything from putting as many flags as I could, to nothing at all. No core affinity to all core affinity.

I'm having some trouble with cgminer telling me that "pool 0 not providing work fast enough" and hanging on that.  Is there a way to fix this?

Not sure what the problem is. Are you using the latest version of cgminer? There are many using cgminer in the pool.

Yeah, I was using the newest bit minter. I tried everything from putting as many flags as I could, to nothing at all. No core affinity to all core affinity.

Which GPU and which driver version?

Fire it up. We are half way through the race and we've only seen one bitcoin block so far. The competition is still wide open.

Source code? Not to be that guy, but running random programs is asking for wallet theft, even in Java.

It's closed source, sorry. The only file access is through the webstart muffin interface for storing settings (webstart muffins are similar to browser cookies). Unfortunately it still cannot run sandboxed because it needs access to native libraries for GPU mining.

You could encrypt the wallet or run this software as a user who does not have access to the wallet files. Also, for wallets with large sums in them, it may be best not to have them with a user that is for everyday work. Perhaps you'd even want to have a "vault" wallet that's not even on the computer normally. Compare with how shops won't store large amounts of cash in the shop over time. You need a little money easily accessible and the rest stored safely.

I am bit confuse here when it comes wallet encrytion, I assume this for those who is running bitcoin client?

Of yes, thanks for your reply regarding openID and all question you answered.

Yes, in the bitcoin-qt program there is a function to encrypt your wallet. It makes it more difficult for someone to steal your wallet. They would not just have to steal the wallet.dat file but also get the passphrase, probably through a keylogger. So it's not perfect protection, but it helps. If you have thousands of bitcoins you probably don't want to store them on a computer you surf the interwebs with.

I missed the renewal time for the SSL certificate today. It's annoying they have a 48 hour window to renew. Now fixed, and https works without warnings. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Looks very nice, thanks!

Glad you like it Smiley

New beta version of the miner is out: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=31163.msg951087#msg951087

Please try it out. I'd like to know the new network code is stable before releasing v1.2.0.
