Some suggestions by me

We, the jr.members and newbies make posts  to get some merits. For this, we post so many shitposts which are not necessary for the people. First time I also made so many shitposts but now I realized that merit comes automatically when you post some new and helpful posts. If you post some helpful post which can help other people, the senior will automatically give you merits as your reward....So, guys.. specially newbies and jr.members try to make some new and creative post, merit will come by your talent...Best of luck✌

Not true. This is not an automatic way to earn merits. While I, personally, can appreciate the non-shitposts and helpful posts, that doesn't mean that you will automatically be awarded merits. For example, I come across an array of posts about "how to earn bounties" or "the best campaigns to join", which may be considered helpful to some members, but you'll never see me merit these types of posts.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

I agree with this,because as a newbie rank,i should have an effort to do something that can lead to have merits,and it is interesting for me. Every merit that i can have,will be the fruit of my hardworks and efforts.

Yes that's the spirit. Take it easy , take your time. Read, research , post , repeat. Someday , it will all workout as long as you just keep reading and posting at the same time. Note to self as well.

automatically mean, If you're post is good enough to get rewards it will attract the the seniors and they will give you merits....For this you don't need to do any work just make a useful post, the senior will make their decision.............and I just meant it...If I did any wrong, forgive me...

This is very impressive and brilliant idea because  we cannot get merit if our post or reply are not constructive and not helpful to the thread starter. I feel like adventure to this system finding some way's to have some merit. I would like to say thank you for Sir mprep because of him I read this thread and the rules of this site.

Please stop such non-sense threads, instead using your time to read more, and come back when you have something important, valuable to show.
In addition, you should forget about merits when thinking of whether you should compose new threads or not.
Thinking continuously about merits will hamper your flow of ideas, let you stucked in merit-begging pool of ideas.

The system hasn't been updated since it was implemented, right? I don't think I've missed some kind of an announcement.
Shouldn't the team try and make the system better? Do they believe they launched a perfect system by day one?

I for example find it harder as time goes by to know if a "Full Member" with 101 merits have worked from Newbie with 0 merits to 101, from "Member" with 10 free merits they got 91 or if they was already a "Full Member" when the system launched and they only got 1 merit.

I believe this is more important to signature campaign managers who want to filter the users than anyone else, but still, it'd be helpful to know how many were free merits and how many acquired merits.
Ofcourse you can check the date the user was registered, but as I said this gets harder as time passes and it won't be easy to remember or to calculate how many free merits someone has based on the date they registered.

And also, it's not that hard to split that info into "Total Merit" and "Received Merit" or "Community Merit".

I suggested something similar right back when the system was first introduced. Since then there are a number of resources available that I'm sure the campaign managers will check.

Wow that's some helpful links, I never though someone would have made something like that. There's no API in the forums as far as I can see so I though it'd be impossible to create an automatic tool.

PS: Why do you have a star next to your "Posts Rank" and I don't? >.>

Vod's BPIP uses a passer that is logged in and reads the recent merits page. Piggy's one is using the weekly download file the forum makes available every Friday.

PS: Why do you have a star next to your "Posts Rank" and I don't? >.>

Because I'm in the top 1000 FWIW.
I think top 100 is 2 stars and top 10 is 3 stars.

Do you know if this is based on total number of posts, or is it weighted against other stats, like post count vs. merit or something?

Vod is probably a better person to ask but I'm pretty sure each of the categories that have rankings and stars are independent of each other. Trust, Posts, Activity and Merit each show a ranking only for users in the 1000 and posts is the only one I'm listed in.

Good idea with bad consequences! In my opinion it is a system of sigrigation. Those who used to be on the forum protected themselves and their earnings from the applicants. Because there is no system of independent definition of the charge MERIT. Everything is subjective and comes from those who MERIT owns them. Beginners in their circle can not get!

Yes, merit is a system of segregation - the shitposters are segregated from those who can string together a useful post.

And FYI - I started with 0 merits, same as you.

Old  members are at advantage as per the current system but there are still opportunities for new members. Many new members have ranked up after the merit system. If you can do that your profile will look better than that of a n old member with only default merits.

Many new members posted their objection against the merit system but it is impossible to please everyone on this forum.

After a few scandals of massive bots assaults on ICO bounties, I would defend that a Jr. should at least have 1 merit, perhaps 2. Is very easy to get a merit as a newbie from me or possibly many other members and if you really can´t is because you are not even trying or you are a bot.

In addition to activity, everyone now has a merit score, and you need both a certain activity level and a certain merit score in order to reach higher member ranks. The required scores are:

RankRequired activityRequired merit
Brand new00
Newbie10
Jr Member300
Member6010
Full Member120100
Sr. Member240250
Hero Member480500
LegendaryRandom in the range 775-10301000

You get merit points when someone sends you some for one of your posts. Additionally, when someone sends you merit points, half of those points can be sent by you to other people.

For current members, your initial merit score is equal to the minimum required to your rank. Of that, a certain amount (less than the usual half) is spendable. The spendable amount was calculated based on your current rank and the number of activity points you earned in the last year. A Legendary member who hasn't posted in the last year would still be Legendary, but would not have any spendable merit.

If someone sends you 1 merit, the 0.5 sMerit is not wasted; it is just not shown until you get another merit point.

There are stats here, and you can find someone's merit summary by clicking the "merit" link on their profile.

Thanks for explanation -  just noticed I have 253 merits and have no idea about how I took them all)

Full support and privacy

Only you will be able to issue it and only you will have all the copyrights!

Price is only 0.33 ETH in June 2017 (I ask you also gift me a small % of issued coins).

The information I need:
1) the address where your new currencies will be created and then the amount;
2) the name for your token and amount of decimals for display purposes;
3) if you need the token's value be backed by smart contract (automatically sells and buys) - write me this prices please;
4) if you want the amount of coins in circulation to change please tell it (the possibility to issue or remove your tokens from circulation);
5) also please send at least 0.05-0.1 ETH to 0x4BCc85fa097ad0f5618cb9bb5bc0AFfbAEC359B5 (or 0.33 ETH if you totally wanna prepay).

Yeap, you shown your good initiative, which led to one more name in my Ignore List.
Merit exchange is one of bad way to abuse the forum, and should be avoided at any odds.
Such non-sense, ask-for-merit-exchange thread will definitely never get any merit from other users in the forum.
Good luck.

This is because you already were Senior Member at the time when the Merit system got initiated. Your starting Merit from this point onwards was 250, so you have earned 3 Merit since then which brings the total to 253 Merit.
