I have this issue with ALL my 290x BAMT 1.6 rigs too.   They drop 200k+ after a few mins.   So, max I can get it to is 2.41 Mh/s.   Do you have any fixes or workaround for this yet that you have discovered?

Could I have opinion of specialist about my Problem? I suspect a bug of the programm because that'is the only thing I had not check, someone can tell me if it's possible?

I offer on the other topic 30 Darkcoin Bounty to solve that problem, a nobody has a clue, but I get in touch with other that had the same problem.

Here is the facts:
I have 3 different R9 290, other people has 6 290 of other brand, after 10 minutes, the cards looses 10% of Hash.
That probelm happend only on R9 290 cars.
I'm on Bamt 1.6 from Bajawa, He is on windows 7, same problem.
All 290 on the same rig experiment the loss in the exact same second
if you put another card in the rigg that is not a 290, all the 290 had a loss, but not the other card
The cards are cold.
The problem happenedonly with sph-darkcoin miner, if I mine Litecoin, I'm stable.
I split the cards with 2 PSU, does not change a thing, cards crashed at the same time, no matter what psu they are plugged.
I change motherboard, does not change a thing.
I run 4 different sgminer, each one with one card activated: even I did launch them with a delay of 3 minutes, 10 minutes later, all the instance with a 290 had a 10% lossat the same time
I launched sgminer without a .conf: only intensity in the parameters: happened with I:18 and I:21 (0% rejected, cards should worked with high intensity)
Once I got the loss only a cold reboot can recover the missing hash. If I mine restart only the miner, it restart but is capped to 90% of max hashrate.

I'm getting out of hints. If the problem is in the programm, I shoud stop wasting my time. If it is not, I will keep investigate, even if I think I already get pretty far.
PS: as usual, english is not my first languagae, so if I offensed any-one, it was not intended. Wink

Hello,

I want to know, if you tested badmans and my version of SGminer already.
Pls let me (us) know Smiley.

Hello,

I want to know, if you tested badmans and my version of SGminer already.
Pls let me (us) know Smiley.

I have tested the latest badmans version.

I just tested your version.   It did the same thing.   It dropped after a while.   I don't know if it has to do with the difficulty change of the block.   That at least was the thing I saw when the rate started dropping.

Sorry for my ignorance but can you mine Maxcoin with this miner?

I don't think so. Use cgminer keccak, works very fine.

What Pool?
What Configurations?
What Dsiplaydriver version are you using?
Can u check (maybe over Afterburner) if the Coreclock or the Memclock are changing while the card reduces by 10%?
Would u please make a log file till the reduction of speed? (make a start.bat pointing towards your sgminer.exe like this : "sgminer -k bla -u bla -p bla -o bla://bla.bla 2> log.txt")

Core clock and memclock are stable, only the hasrate drops
Bug happened on all pools
Bug happened with all configurations (even with no overclock)
Bug happened with catalyst 1.13 and 1.12 on linux bamt (other have the same bug on w7)

What is your version?
I'll try to male a log file.

I'm pretty confident there is a bug somewhere.
Question is: what can possibly make the hasrate to drop if the engine and memclock did not change?
If we have a list, may be we can track down the various possibility, but we have no list. I was thinking that only the engone and memory clock can make the hasrate moving (may be intensity too).

Is it possible that the intensity switch, and How can I track that?
Is there some other things that can modify the hasrate besides engine, memclock, intensity?

There is nothing in the log-file
May be I should use some other log mode to list other things?

what about temperatures, rejected shares?
Do you have any background processes in your comp - liek AV program which stats checking hdd after 10min inactivity... or screensaver

Try downloading Process Hacker and see if there is process consuming GPU except sgminer

Rejcted shares round 0.3, temp around 45° or around 75°, depends what gpu-fan I put.
I run a linux BAMT system, so there is no process that started.
The other gpu I have on the same rigg did not suffer a drop, only the 3 R9 290.

I have 5x7970 (OC version from Gigabyte), and getting only 2,6MH/s per GPU on qubitcoin when darkcoin give me 1,3Mh/s
Is this normal? Scrypt algo give me 750Kh/s per GPU

Code:
/opt/miners/sph-sgminer/sgminer -k qubitcoin -o stratum+tcp://q2c.cpu-pool.net:3470 -u xxx -p yyy -I 16 -g 2 -w 256
 --auto-fan --temp-target 60 --temp-overheat 65 --queue 0 --scan-time 1 --gpu-powertune 0 --gpu-engine 1100,1100,1100,1100,1100

I'm getting 2.2+ on my 7970. Try my config:

Hello,

Ok, I really cannot beleave, that there is a bug in the code, that only appears on the 290.
If there would be any bug, related to that R9 290 behaviour, than it would be all cards (imho).

So maybe it has to do with the AMD driver, or with the BIOS on the Cards.

Would you please make a log file with verbose mode?
You have to add an:
"verbose" : true,
to your config or --verbose to your command line!

When I talk abot a bug, it's the fact that there is a probel that is only triggered by 290.
Bios cold be an issue, but among the 5 of us that encounter that bug (each one with several cards) we have various brand of 290 and various OS...

I'll do the test with the verbose option.

That all cards do have different brands doesn't matter to the BIOS bug.

If there is a bug, which maybe is there since AMD delivered the structure for this Card and this BIOS, then it could be that this bug is related over more brands/various cards.

Maybe (I'm working at a electronic devices manufacturer) there is a SMD-Device with a failure.
That might explain (if so) why there are several cards all over the place, that seem to have this behaviour.

Maybe we will never find out (I do not hope that, but who knows?).

I'm searching.

The "fun" part (and the fact that for me it can't be the cards) is that even I did not activate gpu 0,2,3 in that session, if now I launch a new sgminer with them, they are only running at 2.0 (like after they get a drop), even if I did not use them previsously.
I have to do a coldreboot to recover my 0.2M on each 290, even on the one that did not be used previously.
That's why I was thinking that the problem is something triggered inside the program (or the os) and not inside the cards.

Here is the beginning and the end of the file. I killed the process juste after the drop. I activate only GPU1. Tell me if you want another part.

The log is in progress, I'm waiting for the bug to occur.

Did u disable all automatic adjustings to your card via the amd driver?
It could be, that something inside the CatalystControlCenter or for example the OverDrive section is set wrong.

I'll have a look in my configuration later, but I do not own a R9 290..

I'm a total noob Smiley

I did not toch anything, and did not know how to check that.
I can only say that on my web-ui, engine and memclock remain stable before and after the drop.
I did not know what the overdrive is (and how to check that under Linux Bamt).

And it is happening to the darkcoin kernel only?

Yes, Darkcoin only (hum, I did not use the SpH miner to mine scrypt, but with other miners, no problem), R9 290 only.

Since darkcoin is no scrypt, whats the matter?
Or do you mean: you are only mining darkcoin with sph-sgminer?

Would be nice to test scrypt with sgminer.
Kernels should be the same, pls give it a try!
