Of course, PBA players are more talented as they are paid bigger, some PBA got a contract in the MPBL because they are not signed again in the PBA.
I think it is the right way to say that a talented players will more likely to get higher pay than those that are not. Usually this is why some good players trained hard to get higher pay. Some are to become a superstar in basketball and others think that it is their passion and had been love doing it. Well I am a little bit happy that PBA now has made some good news in the upcoming events in regards to PBA.

Having this kind of platform is a good thing because if not selected in one of them gives chance to show the talent and skill when selected in MPBL. This helps them to continue to work hard in order so that in future they can be selected by PBA. The motivation still exists because the final target for them must be among the best and perform the best and automatically money will follow them. Maybe I should also create a thread for MPBL? Looks like we have a lot of fans here, however, I am not seeing MPBL betting odds in sportsbet and other sportsbook that I am actively using, so I think it wouldn't be interesting following the game if we are not betting on it.

As far as I know Sen. Manny love Basketball as much as Boxing. Making him leave PBA means there really is something happening behind all of the games we are seeing. Anyway, all sports organizers are against game fixing, but they cannot eliminate the doubt of the people especially the bettors when they see some unusual calls in the court that would result to losing their bet, that is not new actually as even in major and popular sports like the NBA, game fixing theory still exist. if you are not yet familiar with Tim Donaghy, you can watch this video. For me, MPBL is like "another chance" for those PBA players who didn't get any contracted from any teams in the league. I've seen many players there that came from PBA but unfortunately didn't renewed their contract by their management. I've seen also some old players there who are still playing. IIRC, Helterbrand and Cardona are the popular PBA players who played in MPBL (Correct me if I'm wrong though). Comparing these 2 leagues is out of the question because the players of both leagues have a huge gap. Some PBA teams are also getting some good MPBL players to their team.

This just happened recently and this obviously relates someone over betting into the team and let the other wins. I know this is not something that is new but knowing that this is happening within the country makes me wonder how much more games are being fixed. That is why it is a great decision for MPBL to be strict with betting.

These players playing under MBPL has lesser reputation to take care compared to players in the PBA as they are staking their future with big money involve, so in order to ensure to deliver a message that the organization is against game fixing, people who commit that offense should be sued and must be punish. Thanks for that article, I haven't read that before.

Return to practice for PBA teams delayedSupposedly, today, July 22 is the date to resumed PBA practice. So not just IATF, who already gave the approval to resume practice but PBA needs approval from the Games and Amusements Board, the Department of Health, and the Philippine Sports Commission. I'm just curious here since IATF's decision is based on the recommendations of a certain body on which to PBA are GAB and PSC while DOH for health (one of the IATF chairs is the DOH chair). So why it turned out that there's no Joint Administrative Order for PBA to already resume practice. Anyways, not a big deal. Maybe it has to do with Blackwater's decision to resume practice on their own.

PBA is better because it is more popular than its rival which is the MPBL but it doesn't mean that the players in PBA are better than the players in MPBL. There are skillful players in MPBL that can compare or even exceed to the start of the PBA.
Calling MPBL as a rival for PBA is too much. There's a huge gap and actually that should be out of the comparison. PBA is the biggest and the basketball league and MPBL is just one of the other established basketball league in the country. As per MPBL founder Manny Pacquaio, the league is not intended to be a competitor to the Philippine Basketball Association. The league is more of scouting talents that didn't have a chance to play in the professional league. MPBL also opens doors for former PBA players which is a good initiative by the league.

Maybe this article might have to (help) with the return of practice delayed. AS the PBA takes steps for possible season resumption by September, coaches suggest the local league to monitor the NBA and the other leagues, and learn from their models.
https://www.pba.ph/news/the-key-word-is-disciplineI agreed with the coaches suggestion. Especially, how well executed the The Chinese Super League for over 2 months now as per the article.

The cases in the country is increasing (more than 1000-1500 cases daily) and most of these cases came from Metro Manila and Cebu. This is probably the reason why they suspended the supposed resume date of their practice. Unless they will practice in a place where there is a low risk of getting affected then it would be better. Maybe they will try what the NBA did too? That they will be kinda locked in one place where they can make practices and scrimmages there but I don't know where will be the venue if they will do this.

If they will do that, they might get a faster approval from the authority to resume the season, and we will be happy watching them once again. All for the best of our economy and security, I think we need to support it.

Would you agree with this? These TNT stars are so good not to have their jersey numbers retiredHonestly, I didn't know that Taulava has been playing and contributing to the TNT team? Since he is playing with the NLEX now, is it possible to retire a jersey in 2 teams?

The first and only TNT players that had retired jersey was J. Alapag. With the career high achievements of: 6× PBA champion (2003 All-Filipino, 2009 Philippine, 2011 Philippine, 2011 Commissioner's, 2012 Philippine, 2013 Philippine) 2× PBA Finals MVP (2011 Philippine, 2011 Commissioner's) PBA Most Valuable Player (2011) PBA Best Player of the Conference (2011 Commissioner's) 11× PBA All-Star (2003–2011, 2014, 2015) PBA All-Star Game MVP (2004)
While Ranidel De Ocampo career high achievements as well: 6× PBA champion (2008–09 Philippine, 2010–11 Philippine, 2011 Commissioner's, 2011–12 Philippine, 2012–13 Philippine, 2015 Commissioner's) 2× PBA Finals MVP (2012–13 Philippine, 2015 Commissioner's) PBA Best Player of the Conference (2014 Governors') 9× PBA All-Star (2007–2011, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017)
RDO really deserves it. On top of that, there are only 23 players had their retired jerseys by their PBA teams. Honestly, I didn't know that Taulava has been playing and contributing to the TNT team?
Since he is playing with the NLEX now, is it possible to retire a jersey in 2 teams?
In the PBA history, no one seems to retired with more than one team.

I searched more about Taulava and found the information I like to know. https://tl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asi_Taulava8 years with TNT, that's the longest team he played as a PRO, and I can't say much about his journey with the team as I just recently actively watching the PBA, not so active actually.

Ideally why Asi Taulava being on that list is he's long journey at the PBA. Drafted at 1997 and still currently playing at the age of 47. Imagine with that his body fatigue is still good and still can play. With great achievements as well: PBA Champions (2003) PBA Finals MVP (2003) PBA MVP (2003)

47 years old, wow.. I know he is the oldest PBA player that are actively playing now, but is he is the oldest int he history of PBA? I wish he could have retired at 50, I think it's hard to beat his record at that age already. It would be a nice gift if before he retires, he will again win a championship with his current team now.

Robert Jaworski ended his playing career at the age of 51 - the most in history. Asi Taulava needs around 4 years more to beat the record, only if he has a plan of beating it. Rafi Reavis, age 42, I think the second active oldest player in the league right now after Asi Taulava, does have a plan of surpassing Robert Jaworski but not with the age but for the games played.

Hell yeah, that's unbelievable, at 51 and still playing, that's why he was called as the living legend in the PBA. Thanks for that, I didn't know that at that age he was still playing, I just know he is very popular in PBA being the playing coach of the Ginebra Kings. I think Rafi Reavis will retire soon but he'll retire younger than Asi's age I guess.
