1361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Any advice for invest my first 600$ in altcoins? on: April 27, 2023, 12:59:51 PM
Hi just new to here. I want to know what are the good altcoins that can be invest and forget until 2026. I'm currently thinking to spend around 600$ for altcoins. Right now I'm holding BNB & ETH only as altcoins. Don't say buy BTC cuz already have nice amount since 2010.

Is it good to invest in HOOk, SUI , ARB or ID altcoins? Since they are new just thought to give a try. Thank you

This is not advice but I am going to tell you how I would do it if I were you:

Don't invest in any altcoin below the top 30 on coinmarketcap by volume. Personally, I would not even go below the top 20. Furthermore, you should consider investing dividing your money into parts and investing only one part into each altcoin. 60 USD each altcoin gives you a nice spread of 10 different altcoins.

Basically, do not feel tempted to put everything into one basket. Thats just smart risk management and I do not think I have to tell you that.  Grin

Don't fall for the newest coins. They fail 99% of the time. Be sure to pick a coin which has been around for a longer time. At least 3 years, I would say. And it should show a steady rise during that time. Avoid pump and dumps and bad performers.

1362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why gambling and mixing called bad actors in bitcoin on: April 27, 2023, 10:20:43 AM
From my experience and observations, I noticed both Bitcoin mixing and online gambling using Bitcoin are mostly regarded as bad actors in Bitcoin despite both being the highest Bitcoin adopters and having the largest Bitcoin volume in transactions and services.
Secondly, if Gambling and Bitcoin mixing services are called bad actors, what about centralized exchanges are they also perceived as bad actors in Bitcoin?

Both services are, from the viewpoint of the government, bad actors because they make it so much harder to pin out the money launderers and other undesirables, as the government would view them...

The Bitcoin community itself would not consider these services as bad actors unless they are scams. Ironically, unregistered/unlicensed gambling casinos as well as anonymous mixers can be considered shady because if they decide to scam their clients, there is nothing the clients can do since the services are out of the government's reach.

If you were to ask me, I would consider the government itself a bad actor (too much incompetence and corruption in politics), but a necessary one to keep such services in check.
1363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We must fight back SEC, from Ripple to Coinbase on: April 27, 2023, 03:16:50 AM
From this U.S. SEC threatens to sue Coinbase over some crypto products in late of March 2023, to Coinbase sues SEC after months of silence from federal regulator just about one month later.

I don't know what you thought one month ago and what you are thinking right now. I believe that the USA. won't let cryptocurrency companies to move out of their country easily and because of SEC. The latest hearing in the USA. Congress is a signal that they don't want it to happen and want to force SEC to do the right things for the nation, their citizens and to control SEC power (less than overwhelming usage of SEC chair Gensler).

SEC can not arbitrarily calls any altcoin as a security and sues them. If they don't apply Howey test, they can not sue any altcoin project arbitrarily and unreasonably. South Korea disagree with this style too, but of course according to South Korea laws and regulations.

South Korean Court Says Terra Classic (LUNC) Not a Security

Please share your opinion.

The SEC cannot stop Bitcoin so I do not really care about the regulation theater they are trying to impress the feeble-minded with. I certainly am not going to defend the Terra scam or its scammer CEO and I am definitely not going to defend the business operations of any centralized exchanges. Bitcoin has defeated any and every regulator. Unless every country in the world chose to become dictatorships which collectively outlaw the entire internet, there will always be ways to mine Bitcoin. And I am sure there will always be ways to buy Bitcoin, no matter how many obstacles the government wishes to put in our way.

Bitcoin is freedom. Bitcoin is unstoppable rebellion.
1364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What a physical Bitcoin could look like? on: April 27, 2023, 02:19:04 AM
Thoughts on this. Now at this time. It would be almost impossible to make a physical Bitcoin. But with advances in technology it could be possible. Maybe if you have just whole numbers of Bitcoin, eg 1 Bitcoin.
i am thinking its possible into a almost like a paper note format, with bar codes etc on it. It would be centralized in physical form almost, but i think it could be possible to actually have a physical aspect that could be moved in the real world.

What are your thoughts on what a physical Bitcoin could look like and an idea on how it would work?

I imagine it would have to look like a coin, first and foremost. Otherwise it would be disappointing to call it a BitCOIN. Furthermore, I think it should look very technologically (designed) awesome and of course, it needs the BTC symbol for Bitcoin. So, obviously, it would look more or less exactly the same as the Bitcoin logo that everyone knows and loves. We even use that coin logo for Bitcointalk- Just take a look at your tab, lol.

But I will always see a physical Bitcoin as infinitely inferior to the real Bitcoin. Just because a physical Bitcoin is a centralized version of Bitcoin. Which is quite ugly to me and is not what Bitcoin stands for (decentralization).
1365  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 26, 2023, 11:42:17 PM
With the mtgox funds on the move the market appears to be a little spooked that distribution is going to result in a price crash. Investors apparently trying to get ahead of this love caused a price drop of nearly 10%. Very interesting to see the market so sensitive to the news cycle. I guess people really think a lot of the gox BTC is going to hit the market.

It was bogus news.

1366  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 26, 2023, 07:08:44 PM
If Bitcoin fails to close daily above 28.3K$, Bitcoin may come to 26.3K$.

Bitcoin may also go  up to 100k, go back down to 26k then go back up 100k and then go to 500k before going down to 20k and going back up to 1 mill and so on and so on. Posts like that only scare the newbies into selling for no reason, instead of HODLing, like they should.

If you have an idea and wish to share it, then provide charts and explanations based on historical data. Otherwise all you're doing is pulling numbers out of thin air.
1367  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Politicians behind the development of gambling platform on: April 26, 2023, 06:50:11 PM
A politician in the Philippines claimed to have had a hand in the development of the very controversial e-sabong platform he operated e-sabong so he can make a lot of money so he can use for the campaign, and his family to win local elections because the election in the Philippines is very costly many candidates are buying votes to secure their win, there were reports that he murdered their family's opponent because of e-sabong.
Do you think that government should have a rule or a law for election candidates not to have a franchise in any form of gambling, in fact, there are a lot of politicians who are operators of illegal small-town lotteries this is to accumulate funds they can use for election campaigns.

Congressman confirms past stint with e-sabong when it was not yet banned by gov’t

Not only in gambling!

I believe that politicians should not be allowed to have any kind of income other than their pay from the government for their position. That pay should be transparent and fair.

They should not be allowed to have any other kind of pay, income or businesses or equities. If they are offered money, its in the human nature to accept it. Some may be more or less corrupt than others but its a danger nonetheless.

Don't get me wrong, I am not one of those anti-capitalistic people who want a communistic government. I just think that people who have power should be restricted in their freedom of becoming corrupt.

Not only politicians. Think about how many jobs require a person to be non-corrupt. They should have more powerful restrictions. You would not want your doctor to do unnecessary surgery for the money, would you?

Either they get to be a powerful individual who decides over the lives and futures of their fellow people or they can be rich entrepreneurs who hold no power over the future of the people. They should not be allowed to be both.
1368  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never Expect Consistent Winnings From Gambling - A Lesson I Learnt. on: April 26, 2023, 05:23:45 PM
I have said it so many times but there will always be people who think that they can outsmart mathematical probabilities and somehow make an easy living and a steady income stream from gambling.

What they fail to realize is that the more often you bet, the higher your chances of losing become. There is no way around it. So what is the point in trying to make gambling some sort of job?

Gambling is a fun activity and it can be enjoyable as long as you hold yourself in control and under self-discipline. But it should not be taken seriously like when people try to invent strategies to cheat the system somehow...
1369  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is a web3 casino for you? on: April 25, 2023, 11:09:40 PM
Lately we have seen a lot of online casinos that are considering themselves as Web3.0 but in reality it’s just a name, they don’t over a real Decentralized experience for players.
So i want to know from you what’s are all the features an online casino should have to be considered as web3.0 casino?

I would have to agree with you on that part. Obviously, there are no "real" decentralized gambling casinos which could be considered true web3 casinos right now (or at least none that I happen to know of). Most casinos who claim to be web3 are just saying that for the purpose of marketing. They want to make it seem like they are something they are not, in order to gain a step ahead of the "regular casino" competition.

As long as they have a say of what happens to your funds or as long as there is any kind of centralized authority system which has any kind of control over the gamblers accounts and/or their funds, they should not be calling themselves "decentralized".

1371  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Best place to buy a miner help on: April 25, 2023, 10:03:26 PM
Hi guys if anyone can help me with this issue many thanks

Whatever place you choose to buy your miner from, it is imperative that you make sure that you are buying from a reputable miner seller and not some random ebay or alibaba merchant and do not use any strange software that they give you. Once you find a seller, it would be best if you were to double check by posting the source link on this thread so that the Bitcointalk community can tell you whether or not the seller is reputable.

The problem here is that you could buy a miner from a sketchy individual who could try to find a way to sneakily scam you out of your coins or sneak spyware through, along with your bought miner.

The scams can be quite diverse and complex. Here is an example: https://www.kaspersky.com/blog/cryptoscam-fake-antminer/39398/

Be aware of fake websites!

The above recommendations from the Bitcointalk members philipma1957 and MikeyWith are trustworthy.
1372  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: When Trustwallet doesn't show incoming transactions on: April 25, 2023, 09:46:45 PM
I have no idea what is going on with Trustwallet right now. I am having huge issues with swaps. Either it says that the swap will be expected to fail due to an unknown reason or it does not even load the swappable currencies in the first place. Sometimes the Trustwallet app just crashes for seemingly no reason. This happened to me yesterday but it has been happening for quite a while now. Either 1inch has a problem or more likely, the wallet app itself is having trouble.

I do not have a lot of money in Trustwallet but I don't think I will be using it in the future anymore. It has become extremely unreliable.

Their support team should be on Bitcointalk or at least keep us updated on social media of what is happening. This is ridiculous.
1373  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎲 BINOBI - BEST ONLINE CASINO |🚀BINOBI Affiliate Program| 💸Earn with RevShare on: April 25, 2023, 06:34:20 PM
Hello and Welcome to the Bitcointalk community, BINOBI.

It seems a bit interesting that you call yourself the "best online casino". That seems like a very large claim, especially for a casino which is currently new, and it is therefore yet untested and inexperienced. So, which part of Binobi makes it better than the largest, most trusted casinos?

As I read in your past post you still do not have your gambling license? That makes me a bit nervous about gambling on your platform. I would love to see proof of a legitimately registered and licensed casino first...

Again, welcome and I hope you are as fair to us as we are with you.
1374  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can i make 100 $ daily from online casinos on: April 25, 2023, 12:05:24 AM
It's been awhile I try daily to make profit

Stake casino mostly mines

But it take back profit.. I have 2k balance.. is there method

To get 100 $ per day

What does your common sense tell you? Does it tell you that you can make a steady income from gambling?

I am not going to tell you what to do with your money or your free time but gambling should be seen as a fun activity which may or may not win you money. But earning an steady income? That is completely going against the odds. And the odds are that no matter your strategy, the house edge will always be against you in terms of probability. I gamble with a small amount of spare money from my income and I do not expect to win anything. Because when you start expecting things, you become an emotional gambler, and that is even worse because then you will definitely get into financial trouble.

If you are going to gamble, then understand that you are working with luck, not logic. So do not try to make any logical connections to any possible future events, like earning a steady income.

Good luck and have fun Cheesy
1375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do when there is a bear run in Bitcoin on: April 24, 2023, 11:32:30 PM
Newbie investors are always going to panic sell and they usually do not listen to veteran investors or anyone else's opinion other than their own. They are definitely going to lose money. I think most, if not all, of us went through that "panic-and-sell hell" and I believe it to be part of the learning experience. And any money that the newbie investor loses should be considered a tuition fee. He will have learned a very valuable lesson which he will not forget in the future. And honestly, I think that that learning experience will make him a better investor for it, in the long term.

So thats why I no longer go around warning newbies or trying to catch their attention by throwing caution to the winds. What will be will be.

I am sure that there are quite a few smart ones out there who know who to listen to and actually trust in their words. But they are the exception to the rule.

1376  Economy / Economics / Re: Concers About Going in Business with a Friend on: April 24, 2023, 10:59:00 PM
Many years ago, I heard the story of a man whose business partner did dirty. They were business partners for almost 5 years and the suddenly the business partner left with company's money. Even after several years, this man didn't recovered. He ended up sounding it as a warning to his kids never to go into business with anyone. The trust was destroyed and never recovered. This is just one of those sad stories.

On the other hand, there are many success stories of friends who went into business together and succeeded to together. If you have ever gone into business with a friend, what were your biggest concerns and how did work through it.

I think that there are times when things do not go the way we want to. This leaves a bad impression on us and a deep scar, which is why the man from your story will find it very hard to trust anyone ever again. But that does not mean that going into business with a partner is a bad thing. It only matters to him because of his own bias against partnerships.

Obviously there is a difference between trust and blind trust. They are not the same thing. Nobody should trust blindly. But without trust, there is no cooperation and no point in any business, because anyone can screw you over. Not only your partner.

Statistically, most partners do not do this to each other. The guy was just very unlucky that it happened to him.

I would not take his story as fact on the matter.
1377  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Chat GTP destroy poker on-line gambling??? on: April 24, 2023, 05:59:29 PM
Reading another post, it crossed my mind that AIs and particularly ChatGPT could potentially be trained with a large samples of games played by poker champions and then put it to auto-play with amateur on-line players. If this is successful, it could mean the end of human on-line poker playing except perhaps for the world masters and the like. Has anyone tried? Would it be possible??

Gambling, especially poker, is a game based entirely on luck as well as reading your opponent's mind and trying to determine whether or not he/she is bluffing. This is not something that any Artifical Intelligence is currently able to do. Especially not a glorified Let-Me-Google-That-For-You app like ChatGPT. In fact, I would very much prefer a stupid non-human opponent to a real human. Easy money. A real human is unpredictable and sneaky. ChatGPT is very predictable. In fact, I am sure you could write a few lines of code which would alert you everytime ChatGPT tries to "bluff".
1378  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Betcoin.AG SCAM!!! -1000$ on: April 24, 2023, 03:45:59 AM

Betcoin.AG suspects him to be from a restricted region. That's why he was asked to send proof but OP is not sending anything as said by Betcoin.AG. It's the standard nowadays already so he is not sending proof of location, I guess he can't go on the play.

But would you let him withdraw if he isn't providing documents?  Or now he is obligated to send and the casino is also obligated to ask for the documents?

As we have already informed him, he is welcome to the funds any time. The verification request is based on his insistence that he is in a permitted region. It appears to us that he thinks he is going to talk his way out of having to complete it. We have pushed for him to admit that he is in a restricted region and take a withdrawal, but he continues to deny it, causing a lot of unnecessary back and forth, which is why the account was suspended. We continue to wait for him to follow up on this by email. We are, and have been, ready to resolve this for days.

Since you are willing to give him back his money, it seems to me that he is indeed the one in the wrong here. Obviously if there is a suspicion of him being from a country which is not permitted to gamble on your website, as your terms and conditions obviously state, then you guys are just adhering to the laws and regulations that your casino is subjected to. Him trying to talk his way out of this mess is obviously not going to work.

Just out of curiosity, how do you suspect someone is from a forbidden country? Their IP could be changed to any country due to a VPN, could it not? A dedicated VPN IP would be pretty much impossible to catch.
1379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Satoshi is eventually ID by the government on: April 23, 2023, 09:26:24 PM
A friend of mine was of the opinion that the government cannot put an end to Bitcoin because it unfortunately cannot be traced to a particular person or organization which could be sued for bringing about the currency or Blockchain.
If this is true does it mean that the identification of Satoshi as a person or organization will pose a treat to the existence of Bitcoin or otherwise

If Satoshi is ever doxxed or found by the government, then I believe that the government (egged on by the banks) will try to punish him out of revenge. Which will be very sad to watch happen but I am certain the Bitcoin community will show their discontent and try everything that they can in order to keep Satoshi out of harms way. But no matter who Satoshi is or what the government tries to do to him, Bitcoin is out of his hands and our of his control. So they cannot attack or manipulate Bitcoin by going through Satoshi. Of that I am 100 percent certain.  Wink
1380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to convince a sceptical person to buy Bitcoin ? on: April 23, 2023, 07:42:53 PM
Although within this community Bitcoin is practically the only currency in which everyone believes, just look around a bit and we will find thousands of people who think otherwise.
At this point I wonder, what reasons should we give these people to make them realise that Bitcoin is a right choice? The first argument that comes to mind to convince a person who is sceptical about Bitcoin, is first of all that with Bitcoin you no longer need to delegate the custody of your money to a third party (banks, mutual funds, etc.): you are the master and you hold them. What else would you add?

I think that trying to convince anyone who is skeptical is a bad idea. They would see the attempt of someone trying to convince them of something, especially something which has to do with them investing money, as a an attempt at scamming them somehow.

No matter how well-structured and logical your arguments are, some people push back harder the more you try to convince them.

I believe the best method of dealing with those kinds of people is to just show them your positive history with Bitcoin. Show them proof of how Bitcoin has helped you. Especially show them your return on investment (ROI).

No better way to convince someone than to show them hard proof.
