1821  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you taken lessons? on: December 29, 2022, 11:21:30 PM
I think these scammers do ultimately serve a noble goal.

Even if they do not realize it, they are teaching people the importance of not giving your Bitcoin away to third party holders, especially centralized ones. The lessons learned are quite expensive. They cost you everything. But in the end, you will learn to never let your Bitcoin out of your own wallet and you will learn to not give your wallet access to someone else. Each of these scams has one thing in common: The coins were not in the wallets of the people to whom they belong. They were in the hands of someone else.

But nobody should feel ashamed for having to learn these lessons the hard and expensive way. It is part of the journey to becoming a hodler. Embarrassed Kiss

1822  Economy / Gambling / Re: Duelbits.com | Casino & Sportsbook | VIP | Instant withdrawals! on: December 29, 2022, 11:08:34 PM
Less than 1 hour for 500k Christmas giveaway, wish you all best of luck!
Let's see if raffle hits winning ticket for me, I have enough tickets to win something nice 🙂
Is it possible for someone to win such, if it's possible i believe that someone can as well win it, that's what is good, but this kind of bonus or ticket as you May refer it to, i believe that it's not what we wish to get and especially the luck one, but i don't know if duelbit use to do such kind of things before, that is what i don't really know, or this year is the first of doing such amount of giveaway
1 person got $100k prize and few more $30k rewards.
No big shot on raffle, only $100 won once during stream. So this year contest was unlucky for me, last year I have got more prizes with similar ticket count. Congrats to winners!

Well that kind of luck seems to best be viewed subjectively, lest you fall under depression from not winning as much or more as before. As long as you win anything, I would consider that lucky one way or another.

Although winning $100 000 USD in one go is quite amazing. Not as amazing as a lottery win of millions or even hundred of millions but still very life changing, especially if the winner is living in a poorer country in which one could live a very comfortable life with 100k.

We may have luck or not have luck. But better to try than not to try. The people who do not try will definitely not win. Grin
1823  Bitcoin / Project Development / [Concept Idea] Gamblevest - A new way to gamble and invest at the same time. on: December 29, 2022, 04:51:48 PM
I am thinking about setting up a new type game for decentralized and non-custodial crypto gambling. One which combines investing in new (blockchain or non blockchain) start-ups. Eventually we will partner with start ups who will offer winning bonuses to the winners (and perhaps even the losers), in exchange the partnered start-up will be gaining marketing exposure and public audit data from the community.

You can join a bet AGAINST or FOR the success of start-up companies.

But before I start offering this idea of mine in the gambling section, I would very much like to hear feedback and I appreciate any tips or advice you  guys can give me.

Explaination:

Basically you profit twice, if you win:

- 1x from winning the bet and receiving the loser bet funds.
- 1x from the optional bonuses offered by partnered start-ups (for example: winners receive free extra BTC and the privilege of investing into company shares at discounted rates - Rules and Guidelines TBA.)

How the game works:

Obviously there are two groups for betting: either "Vest" or "No Vest". It will be based on a pot system with "No Vest" or "Vest" betting sides. "No Vest" pot is for betting that a certain startup-project's roadmap goal will not be reached in a fixed amount of time, (to be pre-bet specified by the start-up's officially given deadline). The "Vest" betting group will gamble on the roadmap's goals being met in time by putting their bets in their fund pot. The winning group will receive the other group's funds.

This goals of the roadmap must be defined within specified boundaries by the community and agreed upon by the start-up.

The distribution of winnings will follow a simple formula:

If your group loses the bet, the money you betted will be forfeited to the adversary group but you may receive bonuses for gambling, based on how much you bet.
If your group wins the bet, then you will receive: P*b/B of adversary pot's funds with P = all adversary pot funds, b = (your) individual bet amount and B = total fund amount in your group's pot.

Example:

You bet 100 USD in the "Vest group" of "Start-Up X" because you believe that the start-up can achieve their first working MVP withing 3 months. The entire "Vest Group Pot" is $1000 USD. The adversary group, "No Vest" loses their 3000 USD pot because the start up reached its goal of completing a working MVP with all the demanded specifications. So the winners are the "Vest Group" and you receive  1/10th of that 3000 USD. So 300 USD winnings. Yay.

In order to automate the process, I will need to learn the process and future requirements for developing an automated platform with voting mechanisms which regulate the process. I will escrow the Pot Funds until then, in the beginning of alpha phase.

The funds will be Bitcoin and at a later time, other altcoin options will be implemented, as well as a house coin/token (TBA) consolidated by underlying Bitcoin assets

Basically this new gambling will be based on helping new start-ups gain exposure and give the investors a community based audit system provided by the gambling community and gambling community. Thereby greatly outsourcing project research efforts and project audits to the community.

Business plan:

Winnings will be deducted by escrow service fee of 0.9% + transaction cost and sent to your specified Bech-32 Bitcoin address.

Of course before I start this gambling service I will inform myself of the regulatory requirements. Although once it goes decentralized and non custodial, I am sure we will see the easing of government regulations.

I will be using this thread to keep everyone updated.

1825  Economy / Gambling / Re: BC.Game-🔴🔴🔴BET RED IN CRASH!🔴🔴🔴 Find More Unique Games! on: December 28, 2022, 10:50:11 PM
Can you explain what exactly is the problem as I browsed to all your documents but don't understand the problem? Your bet size is quite low (0.05$) so not really sure what the fuzz about it is?
Try to contact the OP of this topic, he can maybe also help you with your problem.
He mentioned something about the manipulation of bets. Maybe this is where he involved at on why he is being asked to verify his identity just for the site to ensure that he is clean and aren't involved in other same abusive acts in the past. His bets are low but it does not matter. Low bets are still not exempted to verifications as long as the problem isn't about exceeding the betting limits.

The OP isn't that active so I am afraid that his queries might take time to be seen (if he only posted it here) but he can try pinging the team in other platforms like for example on telegram or on twitter. Maybe they are much active there than compared to this forum.

I think that is quite correct and rightly so. The gambling service providers are being pressured into following rigid guidelines on how they conduct their business, whether online or offline, does not really matter. If anything, online can become a bigger legal mess due to the fact that some countries have different regulations and one cannot just offer them services that they are not allowed to buy.

Its the regulators and the governments which is to blame here. Just send an short message explaining the entire situation and wait for the reply. Bothering the team on Twitter or some other platform only slows down the work and confuses people.
1826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Testimonial during cryptocurrency hearing -Ben McKenzie Crypto is a ponzi scheme on: December 28, 2022, 09:21:01 PM

He wrote a book about his opinion of cryptocurrencies named Easy Money: Cryptocurrency, Casino Capitalism and the Golden Age of Fraud. beforehand and saw this very instance coming to the crypto industry as a whole sooner or later.

Your thoughts, because this is just day two and with the SEC suing these type of celebrities in the past also currently for endorsing these failed companies and projects. There are bound to be more just like Ben McKenzie coming into these proceedings and voice their thoughts about crypto economy.

Its a bit ironic that the actor warning everyone of financial fraud is using his current, outrageous PR, after having participated in said fraud, for selling a book that he wrote on said financial fraud. So basically he is using a scam to sell his book but is pretending like he is doing something heroic... Interesting.

He obviously only cares about selling his own book even if it means spreading home-brewed FUD. What an absolute tool.

I would recommend everyone not to listen to actors for advice on investments, economics or fintech.

1827  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: December 28, 2022, 09:07:51 PM
Even when manchester united was not in a good shape and i think that manchester has a big chance to win the game. Manchester united is slowly moving up again. The perfomance is not yet reached its best performance but i think that if the current performance from MU was equal to the barcelona. I will not even try to underestimate manchester united for now caused by it can make barcelona going back anytime. that reminds me when people were picking barcelona over frankfurt and did you know that barcelona lose against frankfurt?
that's the story of last year but that's still worthy to take some lessons if any team in europa league was also very strong at this moment too.
I am guessing that Ronaldo doesn't show what he used to show during the practice periods? Or the fact that he couldn't score much during the group stages and the other games as well? I get that he is the guy with the most goals ever, so I am not going to argue about his scoring abilities, dude definitely scored a lot of goals so far, but just because he did that in the past doesn't mean that he did it during the world cup neither.

Manager saw him missing chances that other players "may" score, and it worked well on the first game, but against Morocco that didn't work, and Ronaldo showed up later as well and he failed to, it is just reality that he doesn't score like he used to.
Ronaldo has gotten to a stage in his career were he is not able to perform the way he used to when he was at the peak of his career. He has only managed to score just a few goals and few in the world cup too and It is so sad to conclude we are gradually seeing the end of the Ronaldo era. The Saudi league will be a less difficult league for him to flourish but there will be no glory in that and Ronaldo is all about proving himself as the greatest player in the world.

I think that might be severely underestimating what it means to be at the very top of one's career, as Ronaldo is and has been for years now. Too many people are putting age over everything else. A younger football player does not automatically make him a better football player. Throughout the years Ronaldo has been gathering experience and training that the young Ronaldo did not have. So if a young Ronaldo played against the current Ronaldo, I think the older one would win.

Why are people throwing a 37 year old down into the trash just because he is a bit older but still young? Would a few years make a huge difference here?
1828  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: December 27, 2022, 10:17:15 PM
It's worth noting that this user won the daily jackpot a few days ago. Obviously, he didn't buy such a huge number of lottery tickets, and he probably got them by playing the hi/lo game. In any case, I agree with you that winning the lottery can be a nice bonus, although the prize for 10th place seems insignificant for a whale who wagered about 20 BTC to get almost 4 million lottery tickets.

The most probably it was one of serious candidates for the Lambo Prize, as amounts wagered gave him many GT. Number of lottery tickets he was able to collect in one week is really astonishing.
The good point is that if people play with so big amounts (really serious thousands of $) platform is quite safe and trusted.
If the user is gambling to earn lottery tickets I think it doesn't worth anyway, because he is going to lose more money with his bets than the potential profit he can make winning on the lottery with the earned tickets.

Well then by the very same logic there is no point in gambling because most probably you will lose more money than you make. But that does sound a bit backwards, doesn't it? Even if gambling is not profitable, thats not why we gamble. Its putting an investment into a small hope. Personally, I try to see gambling as fun because otherwise it becomes frustrating and what is better: losing money and having fun or losing money and not having fun? Tongue Roll Eyes Grin
1829  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Transfer bitcoins without internet on: December 27, 2022, 09:28:08 PM
It all comes down to how can I transfer bitcoin payments to you without internet?
You can't. A transaction must be broadcast to the network via the internet in order to be verified and then mined in to a block.

That does not mean, however, that each individual needs internet access. You simply need some way of getting a transaction on to the internet. Each person can easily sign transactions on their offline devices, and then save those transactions as a small text file. All you need then is some way of getting those small text files to a person/node/service who will broadcast them for you. If you have a public WiFi spot in your community, then you can travel there and use that. If one person has a mobile device or similar with internet access, they could potentially set up a service broadcasting transactions on behalf of other people. There are services which allow you to send transactions via SMS as pointed out above. You could even transmit a transaction via phone call or radio to someone with an internet connection who could broadcast it on your behalf.

Since you are posting on this forum, you must have internet access somehow. Could you set up a method using whatever connection you are on now to broadcast transaction on behalf of your community?

Well hold on now. Would it be possible, technically, if for example he lived in a small village with a computer and a landline but without internet, and he had a fax machine, could he not develop a method of connecting the reconfigured fax to a node (which has internet access) through that landline and the node would broadcast to the blockchain? Technically he would be sending Bitcoin payments without internet connection.

1830  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has anyone ever lost bitcoins before? on: December 27, 2022, 09:13:28 PM
How, and how much did you manage to lose?

Well no, nobody has ever lost Bitcoins before. They may have had them stolen or they lost their key, but lost? Nope. Those coins are exactly where they were put last. Tongue And before you ask, yes, I have lost a key before but the amount of coin was very negligible. So suffice it to say, I have lost maybe... 200 USD worth in Bitcoin which would be worth around 2k or more at today's price.

Lesson learned: do not lose keys.

remembering that your proof of residence has it your home address, so that makes it easier for scammers besides you to steal money at the casino he can also get to your house and steal and kill you, that's because if the scammers see that you are a big whale in his casino so he already knows that in the real world you have a lot of money. are things that scare

That is good advice for rich people. But not really something that 99% of us need to worry about in our life. Worst case scenario, you brag about being rich on the internet and the "bad people" dox you and break into your 3-room apartment because they believed you. Now once they find out you have no riches, they might do something bad to you out of revenge. There are enough scummy people in this world.

But I do agree with the KYC part. That is very sensitive information, which should be handled with care.
1832  Economy / Gambling / Re: WINZ.IO 🚀 WELCOME BONUS: 300 FREE SPINS 🎁 CHRISTMAS CALENDAR REWARDS 🎄🎄🎄 on: December 27, 2022, 08:35:32 PM
quick question: I know Belgium is on the countries that are restricted to play on winz but what about the USA? For work, I am 90% of my time in the US and I was wondering if I could open an account from there and play on winz without any problems ?
According to their terms and conditions, the United States is also a restricted country (jrrsparkles is right). In fact it's the first one on the restricted countries' list, not sure how you missed it.
A friendly advice : always read the casino or any other service provider's terms before using its services to avoid any kind of troubles. If they don't want you there, for whatever reason, then just look for another alternative.

Well hold on, this might be a different matter of legality if he does not live in the USA but rather only wishes to play on winz while he is in the USA. But does that change the fact that he is from another country? If you go to study abroad, does your Netflix subscription become voided? No, I could watch Netflix no matter where I live as long as I have paid for it and have access to the internet. I think the same circumstances should be true for casino players who are visiting a different country.
1833  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: December 27, 2022, 03:40:11 PM
The gambling industry is changing at a very fast rate in both promoting the business and also
adding more fun into it. I am not sure but definitely it is crypto space that has given more wings to it. First there were a lot of restrictions while using the gambling sites. You were not able to pay with the cards, had border payment restrictions, paypal always sucked, other payment
processors were not up to the market and more chances of scams were there. As soon as crypto bloomed, so as to crypto based casinos. Roobet obviously did an amazing job putting it as a two way business approach. There is a large community who even love the Roobet name in a positive way now. Everyone has favorite casino's, I guess Roobet is one of them for me

Yeah, I would agree with that. The introduction of cryptocurrency and decentralization to online gambling really gave people a bit more breathing space. Gambling had way too many regulations and silly rules which made gambling not very fun at all. But with crypto as a payment system and a smart contract underneath, casinos can automate their business and throw many annoying, outdated regulations out of the window by force.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I hope everyone got something nice, whether a gift for oneself or a gift from a treasured person. Hopefully everyone now has more Bitcoin than they had before!

We should perhaps think of a new traditional way for Bitcointalk to celebrate the oncoming new years in a way that only a true Bitcointalker could appreciate. If anyone has any ideas on that, feel free to mention anything!

1835  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers leak personal info allegedly stolen from 5.7M Gemini users on: December 26, 2022, 12:55:21 PM
Another sad story related to exchanges... Anyone used Gemini? We all love KYC so much...

Gemini crypto exchange announced this week that customers were targeted in phishing campaigns after a threat actor collected their personal information from a third-party vendor. The Gemini product security team published a short notice that an unnamed third-party vendor suffered an "incident" that allowed an unauthorized actor to collect email addresses and incomplete phone numbers belonging to some Gemini customers.

KYC is dangerous from many reasons, one of them is that you give your data to people who do not know how to keep them safe...

more details: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/hackers-leak-personal-info-allegedly-stolen-from-57m-gemini-users/

It is sad to see how many people prefer comfort over security. Comfort, its the very reason why they keep giving their coin to third party members and give away their personal information/government documents to faceless entities. When will they learn the two most important lessons in the world of cryptocurrency and blockchain?

First: not your keys, not your coins. Second: be your own bank.

Those are the two only rules you need to never be tricked into giving up your money/anonymity/control.

And of course the affected people will find a way to blame Bitcoin/crypto for this, instead of improving themselves...
1836  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎲BetFury.io|🎁Welcome Pack on BetFury| 💸300 Free Spins + 150% Deposit Bonus on: December 26, 2022, 11:10:45 AM
Not only BFG token but almost all tokens and coins have started to fall in bear market.  which is a normal cycle.  So now the BFG can't be the only one to blame.  Because all cryptos are very deep right now.  But since BFG is giving their staking offer.  So it will be a consolation prize . Since BFG Tokens are free by gambling even if not purchased.  Hence stalking rewards will serve as a good benefit for gamblers

I’m not blaming or single out the BFG token poor price performance. It just happened that this thread is for Betfury BFG tokens and the comment that I reply is about the APY of BFG so I focus my comment on the topic by not including other altcoins in the market like what you said. This is not a general altcoin discussion thread so let's focus on BFG.

Besides I didn't suggest to invest on lther tokens and only mention that it is better to not stake and don’t hold the token at current condition to avoid loss.

I would have to agree with the previous poster. Attempting to judge the price performance of the BFG token (or any crypto) during crypto winters is not a very smart way to Gauge the realistic future APY. You should instead be comparing how the price is doing on a more selective scale. For example, is the market cap corresponding to the drop in price the same way other similar tokens do?

If the only factor which is inducing a bear market of the token is the overall crypto bear market then that alone is not enough information to judge a token.
1837  Economy / Gambling / Re: Duelbits.com | Casino & Sportsbook | VIP | Instant withdrawals! on: December 26, 2022, 10:36:08 AM

me, too.
sometimes when I want to open the Duelbits platform I can't open it because my country prohibits gambling so I have to activate the VPN to be able to gamble here.
but sometimes I only use VPN 1x after that I turn off the VPN after that it's still smooth nothing has changed. Even though if I turn off the VPN, the platform should not be open.
and when I used a VPN, I got a not too big win at Duelbits and I tried to withdraw my funds, everything was fine, no problems whatsoever.

You won't get a problem if you only use VPN once but remember at one time they could have used it as a reason when your account was suspected
I also claimed to have used VPN to access all casinos including Duelbits and so far there was no problem, but I understand there was a risk there
The most important thing is not to try to cheat them like taking advantage of promotions.
If you are exploiting the terms and conditions of the casino then you are always at the risk of being caught and face the consequences like in the case of VPN as some users account is freezed and they are unable to withdraw and they can't claim it because use of VPN is not allowed but many are still doing it as we all know to bypass the restrictions.
I have read it before from this thread actually that Duelbits answered that regards to the VPN usage. They've said that as long as it's just for accessing and you don't do anything illegal or against the terms and conditions of Duelbits, you shall be fine.
They'll detect if there's an abuse while using a VPN but if there's none, you have nothing to worry about and you've got a valid reason as why you're using a VPN if ever they start questioning your access activities.

Well, not to be sounding like a bit of a prude but I doubt most gamblers use VPNs because they are afraid of the online gambling casino registering their personal information. The very fact that most casinos can demand a KYC at any time should make hiding your IP a bit of a unnecessary task for any person who is allowed to gamble in said casino. I think most VPN gamblers are either not allowed to gamble by the laws of their country or they are not allowed to gamble in a particular casino. So obviously a anonymous user secretly gambling can be construed by the rules as a suspicious enough reason to demand KYC. At which point they are in trouble.

1839  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I found a Bitcoin restaurant in my neighborhood on: December 23, 2022, 07:21:41 PM
Why would you invite a restaurant owner for Christmas dinner?

Well OP answered that. A tight knit community is the answer.

But if that happened in a highly populated city/town, it would be a bit different.
It took me a while to think of what an answer to the question could be in such a case- in a more populated world (like the western world). But if I had to take a guess: I suppose to either flex ones cooking (kind of a rubbing salt in his face situation) or it would be to brown-nose the owner in hopes of getting special treatment when visiting the restaurant next time.

Although having said that, it does make me sound like I may be a bit of a downer with a pessimistic view of the world. Roll Eyes
1840  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Do you think that Bitcoin is more worth buying than the ASICs? on: December 23, 2022, 02:24:07 PM
What is your reason for starting mining?

How do you define whether a supplier is legit?

Thanks

I am not sure why you have 2 different questions in your post and 1 random question in your topic header but I will try to answer, to your topic question of if I think buying BTC is worth more than mining hardware:

I think that your perspective on this is wrong. At some point, your investment in those ASICs will be covered by the mined Bitcoin profits. And once you have regained the money you invested, you will be mining for profit, having to cover only your mining bills (electricity, rent and so on...).

Now, if your mining bills >= Bitcoin profits then obviously mining Bitcoin with ASICs would be useless as you would earn no profit and there would be no point in buying ASICs in the first place.

So the question you should ask yourself must be: Is my government ripping me off when it comes to the electricity bill ? Roll Eyes
