2121  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: December 21, 2022, 01:20:46 PM
Early in the DPC season, Valve had already set bans to 10 professional DOTA players due to account sharing. They will not be able to play to any tournament that involves Valve and PGL.

https://dotesports.com/dota-2/news/valve-permanently-bans-virtus-pro-player-and-others-from-dota-2-events-for-account-sharing

What a way to start the DPC season Cheesy We haven't started the run for this year's DPC and we already have a lot of players banned. This should already set an example to players who are looking to sacrifice their career for qualifications or other shenanigans and advancements on the DPC. Not really a fan of Valve or PGL but these two organizers make up almost 100% of the tournaments in Dota 2, with the rest being handled by other smaller orgs/minor tournaments that offers very little prize money, so it is also in my best interest that Valve banned these guys for the future of Dota 2.

I am not a fan of Valve as well but I agree that cheaters should be banned right away. No excuses for them. It will send a stern warning to DOTA 2 professionals that one single cheating in the system can destroy their careers and denies their dreams of playing on the biggest stage.

I already forgot the exact new DPC system this season but a single replacement will cost a team higher points than the last season. Eastern Europe is a challenging region where Virtus.pro is trying to return back to its former glory days. Yet they will be sacrificing points this early.
2122  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 20, 2022, 02:34:00 PM
In today's NBA, you can't expect the supposed dominating teams to have always smooth wins against the underdogs.

I agree with this statement. That is why we see underdogs upset the favorites. Every team in the NBA can beat a top team given the right circumstance.

The NBA nowadays is becoming more and more competitive and I love it. Underdogs nowadays like the Utah Jazz are not that easy to beat as they are still fighting for a top 8 spot. Upsets are normal though, especially in these regular games and it is still early season. The real games will be in the playoffs where defense is more serious and there is no relaxing until someone has a clear blowout lead.

As for my betting, it was the right decision to stay lie-low. Next year it will be interesting to track the top teams that are still out of the top 8 as they will play more seriously in order to proceed into the playoffs. Dallas Mavericks, for instance, I don't think they won't be able to play in the playoffs.
2123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to properly store seed phrase during inspection? on: December 20, 2022, 01:59:18 PM
People should not straight-forward just write their seed phrases on a piece of paper or something. That's just too easy to figure out in case of unexpected incidents. Bitcoin is becoming more popular each day and more people have hints about what is a seed phrase already. What happened in the news is unlikely to repeat but there are too many possible scenarios in that other people might be able to see those seed phrases. Better to make it something of a puzzle so that nobody will think they are seed phrases.
2124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: High Profit Projects Are Prone To Scam on: December 20, 2022, 01:39:25 PM
For the newbies, in order to not get scammed just think about this, if the promises of x5 or even higher or lower are legit and true, then they won't be asking for your hard-earned money since the big investors and financial institutions will be the ones pouring millions to billions of dollars. One of my current requirements in order to DYOR furthermore on new projects is if they are getting investments from Binane Labs, Kucoin, and other top crypto investors.

Some of these newbies already have an idea of these scams but they are blinded by the hope of becoming rich quickly and easily. In my country, I can see teachers, engineers, and other professionals still becoming a victim of these scams.

At the same time, having large investors does not mean that you do not invest in a pyramid scheme. Just think of investments in UST. They had a large fund that had tens of thousands of bitcoins and it turned out to be a scam because it offered high interest rates to its depositors, 20%. Such rates can only be sustained if the inflow of money into the system does not stop. Once it decreases, the pyramid collapses, even with large investors.

I agree. 20% is not really feasible for a normal deposit interest rate. Even bonds that go beyond 10% are already risky. Banks are also very conservative with their deposit interest rates, probably the highest they can give is 5% and it's their time deposits that have locked-in periods.

UST kinds of scams are the easiest to market since people thought that their rates are realistic and not HYIP. And they also last longer than the over-the-moon HYIPs.

2125  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to avoid future losses in crypto on: December 20, 2022, 01:16:05 PM
I honestly do not understand why there are too many newbies lecturing and posting advice about bitcoin, crypto, investing, and trading. We have plenty of it already. I think you guys can earn better merits if you stay true to yourself. Some newbies are even given merits by asking questions, especially on the technical side which is actually cool and more informative to other newbies since good standing and experienced people here will be the ones giving answers.
2126  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does a trading strategy becomes obsolete? on: December 20, 2022, 12:56:53 PM
That is why I gave up trading daily. Your indicators may work until they stopped working later on. More and more indicators are developed and some others are not available on tradingview and other popular live chart providers including exchanges. But big news like the bankruptcy of FTX is probably the best and most reliable indicator. I opted to invest long-term and do a DCA rather than stress myself in the market. Maybe I will be back into day trading when the market is back, which I expect in the year of the halving and its following year which are the trend in bitcoin over the years.

$14 an hour and your daily salary is like a week of work here in my country. But yeah, you have a low-paying job if you're in the United States. Keep in contact and be updated on your investment since there is a possibility that FTX US investors will be refunded although highly unlikely at 100% and it might take some time.

As for your career, you seem to have a lot of options since you have confidence in your programming skill. You can give it a go and look for high-paying jobs. But if you're too happy with your current job then why not ask for a wage increase? If you continue to explore crypto projects, you might be able to land a job too.

2130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: December 19, 2022, 05:29:41 PM
With this upcoming fight of Davis, Garcia will see how prepared Davis is for their fight.
Garcia already ditched his supposedly fight with Gesta this coming month to focus on Davis.
Is it a good decision for Garcia or not? We will see if this will help when he faces with Davis.
He has a long break now from the boxing ring, so hopefully his decision is right.
If Davis will win on his upcoming fight, I believe, Garcia will be the underdog in their fight.

IMO it was a bad decision to cancel his tune-up fight with Mercito Gesta. It could be that the proposed fight schedule with Tank isn't giving Kingry enough time to recover if ever the Gesta fight turns difficult. But Kingry could've easily moved his fight with Tank by a month or 2. Kingry will be nearly a year inactive when he faces Tank. He cannot overtrain either so the focus thing is just bs. He is just lazy and is only looking for the big money, he seems ready to cash out in boxing. His former coach Eddie Reynoso and former stablemate Canelo Alvarez were right, he is slacking and is losing his motivation and dedication to establish his own legacy. His fight with Tank Davis is not even a championship fight.
2131  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Qatar World Cup Betting Tips on: December 19, 2022, 05:09:23 PM
I am so happy that Argentina won the World Cup and even more that Lionel Messi made it including scoring 2 goals in the finals and winning the Golden Ball which solidifies his GOAT status. In terms of betting, I was not lucky with Argentina though as I went 0-3. I actually made it perfect on the opposite, my bets were the only games that Argentina lost and had draws. How unlucky I am. And I stayed late at night in order to watch them play. Cheesy
2132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nobel prize for Satoshi. on: December 19, 2022, 04:48:32 PM
Maybe it is the first time that a winner will be given to a person who only uses a pseudonym and remains anonymous. But is the Nobel award still prestigious these days? Maybe the other categories like science? I think the Nobel is now influenced by politics. Sweden a neutral in the previous 2 world wards is joining NATO. Not saying it is a bad decision for them.

Anyways, I think the real Satoshi Nakamoto is already dead. Hopefully, I am wrong and the person is living a good life and will remain anonymous forever or at least for a hundred years.
2133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: December 19, 2022, 04:28:23 PM
Some Upcoming Boxing Schedule that I have seen online,

Gervonta Davis vs. Hector Luis Garcia - Jan. 7: Washington D.C. (Showtime PPV)

I intend to bet on this Gervonta Davis vs. Hector Luis Garcia, Tank Davis has not fought for almost a year, that's a lot of months, so he may not be strong in terms of fighting, maybe just training will put him in good shape, but it's very different from being always fight, I hope this is not a problem for him at the time of the fight, I intend to bet on him, I don't see him losing in this fight

his opponent Hector Luis Garcia will have a lot of difficulties in this fight, he will have to prepare very well if he wants to avoid defeat, I believe that the bookmakers will put Tank as a favorite to win this fight and it's no wonder, the guy is strong, he knocked all of his opponents out of the 27 he faced, only 2 he didn't knock

As a new tradition, Japan will always have a title fight prior to the new year. This time it is Kazuto Ioka who will unify his WBO belt against WBA champion Joshua Franco. Kazuto Ioka is fresh from his revenge over former champion Donnie Nietes. I already have my bet on Ioka since last week. He is the first Japanese 4-division world champion and IIRC, his Japanese record of winning a world title in the fewest fights was broken by Naoya Inoue. Now Inoue is also wanting to tie Ioka's 4 division titles.

On January 6 prior to the Tank Davis fight, a double-header happens in Japan. IBF champion Daniel Valladares of Mexico travels to Japan to defend his belt against local hero Ginjiro Shigeoka. In the other title fight, the Japanese champion WBO Masataka Taniguchi will defend his belt against the Filipino Melvin Jerusalem. Hopefully, upsets happen. The Philippines do not have a world boxing champion right now which is unusual.

2134  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Borrowing money to invest in BTC ( My own past experience) on: December 17, 2022, 02:45:43 PM
I will never agree on borrowing money to invest in bitcoin. Even if the amount you borrowed is still within your reach to pay I am still not in favor of it. You only got lucky that BTC at that time was bullish. It's gambling already when you risk money on something you have zero to little knowledge about. Investing money can affect our emotions and borrowing money for investment will only make our emotions higher which can affect our next decisions. It's the same scenario last 2018 when I signed a contract to construct my house and at that time over 90% of my assets are in crypto, especially BTC. We all knew the lowest BTC price since the 2017 bull run happened in late 2018. I cannot sleep well for many days until I just decided to sell all my crypto assets at the cheapest price. Emotions will fuck up our logic. The higher the stake, the more our emotions can affect our minds. And just like playing in a casino, luck cannot be always on our side.
2135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Huge Binance outflows - should we be concerned? on: December 17, 2022, 02:20:06 PM
Nah! I don't think these huge withdrawals can bring Binance down. Ever since its decision to cancel the purchase of FTX and made it open to the public, CZ already knows possible attacks of any sort. I believe Binance can weather the storm, it's too prepared for this.

About the market, it is down already. Of course, it is affected since Binance is the biggest crypto exchange. Many are scared and didn't just withdraw their coins but sold them into fiat. For me, this is just FUD. My BTC buy order of $17.5k was hit. Now I need to cash in some funds so I won't miss this opportunity to buy at a lower price. The same scenario with ETH and BNB.
2136  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fees on Dormant Accounts on Crypto Gambling Platforms on: December 17, 2022, 01:41:50 PM
Interesting because dormancy is the least I cared about when reading casinos ToC. Although I can remember when I failed to re-open some of my old unused accounts from various casinos including when I tried the lost password option. I didn't try chatting with the support for reactivation though as mostly I can just open a new account when the old one was closed already. I don't leave balances behind when become inactive in a casino.

Most of you probably disagree with the closure of accounts but I think it is fair enough as long as you are receiving their notice thru emails. 3 months though or even 180 days of inactivity are too early to consider an account dormant since there are many seasonal bettors. But in the end, so long as we are receiving notice from the casino then we have to take action so we will not lose our funds. Seasonal bettors can look for another casino too.
2137  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 17, 2022, 12:58:50 PM
Good win by the Lakers as well, it was a very close game, until late in the 3rd quarter when they got the momentum and continue it to the 4th. Another triple double for Westbrook, Reaves, Pat Bev hitting 3's outside and so is Dennis the Menace.

But the whole story is AD, looking to be injured again as he has to take a sit.

And then the old Lebron, can still dunk and run and deliver at the other end with a dunk.

It's a good win by the Lakers against the 3rd best team in the west. Aside from Lebron, the rest of the team really step up when needed most. But of course, this is just 1 regular game and they need AD. Maybe tomorrow there will be results already on AD's injury, I am not a Laker fan but of course, we want all these athletes to stay healthy to make the league more competitive.

On the other hand, my Miami Heat, at last, entered the top 8. Cheesy Although it is still tied with the Atlanta Hawks and Indiana Pacers. Miami has also a cute 3-game-win streak against mediocre teams.
2138  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Caleb Plant vs David Benavidez on: December 17, 2022, 10:16:39 AM
Reading your comments here raised my eyebrows. So this fight is not yet signed? I thought everything is 100% official. I don't like both fighters but earlier I was leaning towards Plant because of the incident that happened years ago where Jose Benavidez tried to harass Plant while training. I honestly believe Plant could've easily knocked the guy out pretty easily but Jose was accompanied by some people including his brother David, so Plant was put in an odd situation. But I hate Plant for demanding the brand of gloves and even wanting to be announced last when he is actually the challenger since David is the interim champ. I can understand though that Plant wanted a bigger ring size.

Interesting:

Artur Beterbiev vs. Anthony Yarde - Undercard Information

Quote
As BoxingScene.com previously reported, the WBA flyweight championship clash between the champion Artem Dalakian from Ukraine and Costa Rican challenger David Jiminez will take place in support of the forthcoming Artur Beterbiev-Anthony Yarde showdown at the OVO Arena, Wembley on January 28, live on BT Sport.

Ilford man Yarde challenges for the WBC, WBO and IBF world light heavyweight titles held by the undefeated Montreal resident, who holds a record of 18 wins with all 18 coming via a stoppage.

Dalakian, 35, won his world title belt in February 2018 with a points victory over Brian Viloria and has subsequently made five successful defences. He is unbeaten in 21 professional fights, with 15 of his wins coming via stoppage.

Source: https://www.boxingscene.com/artur-beterbiev-vs-anthony-yarde-undercard-information--171176

I always love to see boxing events that involve multiple championship fights or at the very least 50/50 fights. So this event is like a double-header already since we have 2 championship fights. Artur Beterbiev may be a huge favorite but he is in hostile territory and Yarde may take advantage of his youth in order to survive. I seemed to forget Dalakian already after he beat the former champion, Brian Viloria. I actually thought that he lost his belt already. Now Dalakian is facing an undefeated foe which makes it interesting to see.
