2161  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pangolin Whatsminer M10 - 33TH at 2145W on: March 09, 2019, 09:54:40 PM
Glad you're happy with the miner. I've been running 2 of them for about a month and a half, couldn't be happier. Considering grabbing a couple more before the end of the month.

Also just in case for installs in the future you may want to install 30 amp circuits and grab a PDU in case you grab a second miner. Then there's no need to upgrade the circuit.

Good luck with the mining.

Just a side note on forum rules, you should merge your two posts into one, or it's considered multiposting.

Edit: I did grab another one and it appears there has been a price drop - Listed at 785 USD.

Rabinovitch is asking this question on behalf of a non english speaking miner.

You thought correct you cannot find a block here if you are ramping down but have no miners connected to the pool. The paid shares for the 5nd ramp down are previously submitted shares.

2164  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Ebang EBIT E11++ 44TH 45W/TH on: March 09, 2019, 10:03:52 AM
I thought I would check in on the site nothing has changed from what I can tell pricewise. I couldn't find anything on anyone having received any of these units, I did email them to see if there had been any shipped or if there were any reviews of the products. There ++ model would be competitive in cost/TH to the S15  (excluding coupons) and likely be sold out as well, if they could produce some proof this series has shipped and works.

A few notes are:

That the E11 and E11+ are sold out, and the it appears the "+" model had a MOQ of 50 units. These units have a ship date of March 31st. (All models say this generically in the details.)
The ++ is still in stock and has a shipping date of April 30th as advertised in the title.

Well who could complain with that; besides you being busy on a Saturday. Thanks for the promptly early payment. Good luck to the applicants.
2166  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 921 released - 20 TH/s @ 1800W on: March 09, 2019, 04:46:17 AM
Anyone heard anything about a more efficient miner?

Nothing notable, I honestly thought they would be announcing or taking orders for the elusive 941 by now. I'm only a few months out from having all my Avalons offline and replaced by M10's.

I never did buy anything in the 9 series, the value for me just wasn't there, and by the time it was something else was better. I'm still looking forward to any announcement, one would assume they have something coming, considering they still have a sales team.

Hey Phil, Just have them check out the "more" tab under the profile.

It directs them here

Then when they select copper membership they will be here.

2168  Other / Meta / Re: DT members - ethical to sell DT services? on: March 09, 2019, 03:13:19 AM
I don't know if there is a difference or not, but I feel like they are trying to buy "reputation" as opposed to trust. This is just because they way it is worded, in that it doesn't ask for feedback or that is has to be a positive post about the experience.

Personally I wouldn't tag/remove a DT member for partaking and leaving an honest post of their experience in a thread. I would not trust their judgement if they were to leave positive feedback in the trust system for this interaction though. As soon as they take the payment for providing their opinion as a member of DT that should be off the table. I would aslo hope that these members kept an eye on the program to make sure it wasn't a fancy show at the beginning and an exit scam to follow.

Getting financially rewarded for being in DT seems shady to me...  what do others think?

I guess it depends on why they are in DT. If they are one of the people grinding and striving for a position in DT then yeah seems like they want to leverage the position. If they were a member who just so happens to have found themselves on DT by using the system, should they be denied the opportunity. I think everything needs to be looked at case by case and judged accordingly.
2169  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] (ends today) Over 30 lots of silver bitcoin coins on: March 09, 2019, 02:50:30 AM
Yes.  I have tracking.  The item went out today.  MJ will verify tracking when he’s back.  I’m not posting it because it’s nobody’s business what town it’s leaving from and what town it’s going to.  I know both of them and can verify the to and from.

Glad to see someone has tracking info. I would say anyone who partook in the auction and is choosing to wait on the items falls into the "having of business" to prove the shipment. The town to and from really means nothing, could be PO boxes or drop ship locations, who's to say.

However for now it's good enough that you are verifying the shipment to have been sent. I'll wait to hear from MJ, in case they need my shipping info... which was sent to killyou72 when they were shipping the item.

Edit: Forgot to say thanks for coming here and providing us with updates, and offers to people who no longer want to wait. I understand you are trying to help everyone involved.

~snip~
Facts:
This was not an exit scam for less than 0.05BTC
I have spoken to KY and there was nothing malicious about this.
I believe what we discussed and I promise you would not have wanted to be in his shoes.

The silver is en route to minerjones.
~snip~
What I ask of you:
Please don’t destroy KY’s rep over this.  Once things are made right, please change all red trust to neutral.  It’s not deserved and my word about the situation being awful should be good enough.  I don’t believe he should have to broadcast his unfortunate situation to everyone either.

In regards to the Facts - There is one that is pertinent to this situation at the moment. Is there tracking information showing the auction items are en route. The other points are opinion and speculation, and delve more into the personal matters that we are not discussing.

For the rest, I'm not pissed by any means, a little disappointed in the communication and uncertainty, and I feel that is justified. I held off on the Red trust as I do understand things get in the way, could be small could be big, hard to tell when you are just left out of the loop. So I reached out a few times and it became clear that Killyou did not feel an update was necessary. Perhaps they made poor choices in posting to a Ban Appeal thread as opposed to communication with people they have an agreement with. That bothered me and is why I felt it necessary to leave Negative Feedback. That doesn't mean it's staying forever, I clearly stated it will be changed once the terms of the auction are met. I also feel this would have been better again as a message from OP.

I agree they didn't need to broadcast the personal situation but I would have appreciated something as simple as:

"Hey everyone sorry but I have some personal stuff to deal with at the moment, It's going to be 6-8 weeks before I can address this. If you want a refund let me know"

Quote
Options:
I will refund anyone tired of waiting and your purchased silver will go to LC.
Wait a little longer and understand life gets REALLY gets in the way sometimes.

I'll happily wait for my auction items, it's not time sensitive. Hopefully whatever is going on with Killyou they come through it okay.
2171  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Opinion on starting new farm on: March 08, 2019, 09:56:24 PM
Manitoba you don't say. Well that's a nice commercial rate.

What do you mean by POD it? Is this a package you're ordering? If so I believe most of them come with everything pre wired you just have to do the miner install. If that's the case all you have to do is ensure you have arranged a large enough supply from Manitoba Hydro and connect the POD.

If you are doing all your own construction it kind of depends on where you are going to locate your farm, it could be better long term to build a mid size warehouse or a shop.

A few points to consider will be security, accessibility, and monitoring of the facility environment (temperature/visual).  Also you will want to have spare parts/ units available as with something that size you will have some failed units or boards at some point.

The asicboost would be the first upgrade to make as it was designed to improve efficiency.  Although at this point the miners probably already have it installed.

2173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hodling btc vs Hodling hashpower in 2019, thoughts needed. on: March 07, 2019, 10:55:45 PM
The only problem here is the price of your gear at the moment.

You can source 741's for significantly less, and they are nearly bulletproof. Considering you would be loading up a lot of them you only need 1 pi and could run say 15 trouble free. (I've heard going for 20 can be troublesome)

I say this because with free power the efficiency isn't a factor. Now i don't know how much power you have available, but i think you would be in the profit within 2 months.

Where are you located? I ask because I know of someone with miners available.
2174  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: March 07, 2019, 09:21:46 PM
True. Honestly if I had not heard their story I would already have an S15, or an order for a couple T15's.

I'm just not prepared to be the guinea pig. This would really sink my hardware upgrades to have a failure without warranty protection. The email request I sent for clarification has gone unanswered so far; which was expected.
2175  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Buying Avalon 741 miners on: March 07, 2019, 09:14:47 PM
Unless things have changed MiningBaby is in Canada. They were great to deal with, shame they couldn't unload more of the 741's last year.
2176  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The winter mining setup on: March 07, 2019, 07:35:04 PM
Thanks Haggs.

The heater was the last thing I spoke to Canaan about and  Steven did say it has no certifications for international sales. I don't think it will ever be sold outside China as they don't have faith in it having enough demand for adoption outside of China.

For the noise issue plunge miner in dielectric fluid but for the next part I wonder how to make an air exchange to get hot air, at least enough hot air to warm a room.

I personally wouldn't set up with liquid cooled. Its a neat idea but not ideal for me for a few reasons.

Added cost and care requirements
I can build a suitable soundproofing alternative

I did however discuss with a guy one time something similar. He wanted to use his miners to heat his water. My suggestion was to use an old radiator (he had multiple from old homes and cars). Same concept to remove heat.

Sorry forgot to address that to artemis. It did sound like you had found a way to start a deal with them. Nice you were able to get the balk rolling with them, are yku doing a local pickup?
2178  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: New buildout with buysolar has entered stage 2. on: March 07, 2019, 05:51:01 PM
If your worried why not use an escrow for your deal.  They posted a WTS thread on the forum so treat them like any other seller.

Apart from that if they force you to go offsite to buy, don't pay in crypto.
2179  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The winter mining setup on: March 07, 2019, 04:07:48 PM
Way to rub it in.

I don't know in which country you reside, but here in Greece it starts to get summer-ish!

I legitimately can run all my miners in the house until the end of April especially if I go low power on the m10's. Now into May I will move the m10's to their summer home in the garage. Come the end of May my 741's will be tucked into their dark boxes where it all began. Cry Cry That's just until next winter maybe.

I have been counteracting the profitability issue by upgrading to the M10's; especially with the same free electricity offset of the basement set up. I will probably grab 2 or 3 more to run through the summer bringing me up to 4 or 5.  This will decide whether or not my 741's see the light of day in my home again. This will be a repeat going forward as long as I can make it happen.
2180  Economy / Reputation / Re: Positive/Neutral Trust on: March 07, 2019, 03:50:40 PM
I must say I like seeing the conversations around how to use neutral trust more effectively. Hopefully if more people begin to use it we can see a change where it is as visible as other feedback where displayed.

I think that either are fine and the recipient should be happy with either, especially as this is an actual trade/sale or transaction taking place. I am all for leaving a neutral feedback with a "positive message" for marking an account after a trade. This is good in an instance with minimal communication, minor amounts that required little trust or effort. If in the future you have more transactions with the member or notice through other dealings that they deserve the green then you can update it.

Now maybe your first time dealing with someone there is more of an exchange maybe even some transfer of personal information, it's a higher value item, or just something that required more than dropping it in the post and giving them a payment address. You might find a reason to go straight to a green trust. I believe that you should be fluid in what deserves and doesn't deserve a certain type of feedback, and treat each one on a case by case basis.

Whatever you chose to do it's really the information behind the feedback that matters. Use a good reference so it's clear what the feedback is in relation to. Descriptive feedback , who sent first, was it a small trade; anything that paints a picture of what took place. This way a user who actually looks into the feedback can decide if it's relevant to their situation.

The part about the PM's is kinda annoying but depends on where it is coming from. I know in one of my first deals I did ask the user to leave feedback; as I wanted our deal documented on the forum. If I'm not mistaken they were not on DT and I really had no concept of the system at the time. I have no problem with someone casually reminding me to send feedback, as I like the idea of documenting all of my dealings. I wouldn't necessarily just provide positive feedback because they did.

~snip~ We should be teaching people to do due diligence ~snip~

I couldn't agree more with this statement.
