661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A matter of family conflict regarding Bitcoin. on: September 22, 2023, 07:12:22 PM
<..snip..>

Bitcoin is getting more and more popular, and it is labeled with many different stories. I can see many people blaming Bitcoin as the cause of all the problems, but clearly the main problem is people causing them related to Bitcoin.

I do agree with your conclusion.

I think this incident may be regarded as one of domestic violence caused by the husband. It can involve any kind or type of currency but it just so happened that BTC was the main currency involved. People and news anchors should not literally take it and understood it that violence is linked with BTC; and vice versa. It just so happened that what was involved was BTC and it could be any other currency and the news would be the same.
662  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does anyone still stores their crypto in any exchange on: September 22, 2023, 06:22:10 PM
Does anyone here still stores their crypto in exchanges? I think the best choice would be to move a higher value of funds to a hardware wallet while leaving a small amount that's less than 5K in an exchange.

That's not a best choice because even leaving a $1 in a centralized or decentralized exchange is unsafe but people really don't care much about such things before getting ripped by those exchanges. Another important thing I must say is that relying on hardware wallets isn't safe either. The best way is to have an open-source wallet software like Electrum and move the funds into a wallet that's present on a air-gapped system with Linux installed on that system.

Anyone who puts their money into exchanges is somehow throwing that money into a water pond in hope that they could access that money whenever they want, but when they really want to have that money then they won't get anything. The centralized exchanges own their money and they can do whatever they want with the money of those users.

This is interesting- so even hardware wallets are not reliable in terms of securing your cryptocurrencies?

When I first joined this forum, I believed that hardware wallets are the so-called "fool proof" type of wallets where no one, except yourself, can have access to it. Perhaps some have already discovered a method in order to gain unauthorized access to these hardware wallets?

For exchanges, I am guilty of this since I keep most of my BTCs inside our local exchange due to the convenience it provides. Though I hope that I can somehow transfer my BTCs soon for its security.
663  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting significant amount on: September 22, 2023, 05:58:40 PM
<..snip..>
Are you doing this intense gambling experience by betting significant amount of your bankroll? This is insane but worth it if you are a thrill seeker for entertainment.

No definitely. During the time of my gambling spree, I only betted the amount that I am willing to lose, which is around 20% of my current savings given by my father. Regardless of the result whether I profit or lose, I stop gambling once I spend the amount that I initially allocated for it.

Good for you OP since you managed to recover your winnings at the end of your game. But please be careful as these results can be two-sided. While you may experience winning most of the time, never discount the possibility of you losing more than what you have started.
664  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When Gamblers Fail to Read a Casino's Terms and Conditions on: September 22, 2023, 02:37:07 PM
I may agree with you but I do not totally agree with this:

3. Accuse the casino of not being transparent because they request KYC that they want to steal their personal information.
Some may not be transparent.

We have site that states boldly when you login into their site that no KYC, but in the ToS, KYC is mandatory. It that transparency?

Most gambling sites that enforce KYC will let users to deposit without KYC but they must pass KYC befor they can withdraw. Is that transparency?

But people should read gambling site ToS, it is important.

Whoah, this is really absurd. I mean, it can be VERY misleading if a gambling website advocates that they require NO KYC but subsequently asks for it if you withdrew your funds. I do agree with this post- everyone should at least be reading the TOS of every gambling website even if it may take a relatively long time.

At the end of the day, the time you spent reading their TOS is far greater than the problem a person may experience if they decide to withdraw and discover that it requires KYC even if the gambling website promises that KYC is not needed.

Just a suggestion, I hope someone compiles all the important and essential provisions of each TOS of various gambling websites highlighting the provisions that need attention.
665  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Warning] Don't share your casino account! on: September 22, 2023, 02:16:06 PM
But the danger in this deal is you might be connected to the match-fixing syndicate which will jeopardize your integrity since you KYC already on the casino if you are betting a significant amount like me. The worst is you might be flagged as a money launderer once you connect with them and accept money as payment. I have a very bad experience in regards to being connected to a launderer due to P2P on the exchange so I decided to create this warning thread for the fellow gambler. Never share your casino account to anyone here especially those so-called whale bettors because you might be connected to whatever shit they are doing illegally.

This is very interesting- thank you very much for sharing your thoughts on this scheme.

This is indeed a huge problem especially for majority of the betters on gambling websites. While I understand that having a designated group to bet on their behalf may sound beneficial to the both parties, the major downside is that they may be connected to a group of syndicates (like you mentioned) which can definitely affect your status and your account.

Like what I have mentioned before, if you receive an anonymous message/PM from someone randomly asking or requesting to take part on their scheme, better avoid it. Prevention is always better than cure- take all the necessary steps to avoid being involved on any kind of scheme.
666  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: September 21, 2023, 04:49:30 PM
I'm sharing this because I saw this issue with my kiddo who was once watching me gamble at a website playing blackjack and she started asking me more about the game. Then one day, she wanted to play it herself and asked me if she can go for it and I said "no, it's not your legal age to go for such games". So, it's better to keep our kiddos away from gambling and let them focus on their studies, else it'd actually ruin everything for the whole family if the kid takes the wrong path.

I think this is a case-to-case basis depending on how your kind views gambling as a whole.

As someone who grew up with a father who frequently brings me to arenas of cockfightings, I was not that influenced when it comes to his gambling activities. Sure, I was curious at a point that I even tried gambling away my money during my time in the arena (I was underaged btw) but the habit of me gambling came from my personal decision not to delve deeper into this act.

At the end of the day, what matters is the influence and teachings you bestow upon your children. Though I do agree that it is best to gamble away from your kids, even if you do it by mistake, it is not the end of the road as you can correct this by guiding them all throughout their journey.
667  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another reason and proof to keep funds in your wallet not in an exchange on: September 18, 2023, 05:29:54 PM
You should not trust any exchange. Even the most popular are caught to doing the most horrible practices, like fractional reserve system, horrible security, market manipulation, exit scams, and generally there is lack of regulation, so anything you do can be turned against you. The only time I can find some rationale behind using such companies, is when you want to buy / sell / trade shitcoins.

You should be using no-KYC, peer-to-peer exchanges to trade fiat for bitcoin otherwise. (And obviously do self-custody with your bitcoin)

While I still recommend the use of an exchange if your country has one, for maximum security, it is still definitely better to have your own hardware wallet to store your cryptocurrencies.

The reason on why I still use an exchange to keep my BTCs is due to its convenience. Our country, the Philippines, has a designated local exchange in which the government recognizes. With this, I can easily convert my BTCs to our local currency in order to pay our bills, etc. The only catch is, the requirements for a person to access the exchange are tons of KYC documents (including bank statements and financials, etc.) in order to maximize its benefits.

While this may be the case, having a hardware wallet in order to store your funds for long-term investment is still the best solution and method up to this date.
668  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some Countries living behind their century, taking a back sit on BTC evolution. on: September 18, 2023, 05:00:49 PM
Bangladesh, Domican Republic,  Bolivia, Nepal, Ghana,  Algeria and a host of other nations seems not to understand the times and seasons as regards world changing currency BTC, despite being accepted in most part of the world.

I personally think more awareness about  the benefits of trading with cryptocurrencies needs to be created particularly in nations where there are restrictions and banned on cryptocurrencies and also it should  be made more simple for easy use no matter the level of one  literacy. More work is needed. What are your thoughts?

I think this has to do with educating the public about cryptocurrencies as a whole. Perhaps majority of their population does not even know about the existence of BTC in the first place, which is why the demand to push for such change is aloof on the part of the government.

Though this may be the case, I do agree with your point that these countries must consider the potential and opportunities behind cryptocurrencies. Lots of people are missing out on learning about its concept which may be considered as a win-win situation for both.

I just hope that in the future, more countries would integrate cryptocurrencies on their financials and more countries would start to adapt it as an alternative payment method for their products/services.
669  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Experience for new and old gambler? on: September 18, 2023, 03:24:18 PM
Do you think it is the same experience for a gambler who has practically experienced and been involved in gambling evolution since gambling was on the street side with personal belongings or money, to spaces and buildings for gambling with money, to gambling with money online, and now to gambling with cryptocurrency online with a gambler who has experienced a few or just one of the forms of gambling? whose addiction will be harder to break?

Gambling has evolved ever since the COVID Pandemic hit. It diversified into other forms and it also tackled the online world where it proved that it can hold and be profitable in an online scale and environment. The beauty about online gambling is its simplicity and convenience- a person may opt to gamble at any place and at any time at their own convenience.

While others may enjoy gambling inside a casino, most enjoy gambling at their own leisure and space. I know some people who used to gamble in casinos shifted to an online setting given the innovations that was introduced all throughout.

With regard to breaking the addiction, I submit that it would be the same. The form may be different but it is still the same in its very essence- which is gambling.
670  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Navigating the World of Online Gambling on: September 18, 2023, 02:18:17 PM
Resist Addiction,Winning can be exhilarating, but it can also be addictive. If you find yourself unable to stop gambling after a few wins, it's time to take a step back. Remember that gambling should never become a primary source of income.
online gambling can be a fun and potentially rewarding activity when approached with caution and responsibility. Think of it like playing video games, but with the added thrill of potential rewards. Be diligent, protect your privacy, and always gamble responsibly.

Something I would add here is that people who have struggled with other addictions in their life are more at risk to become addicted to gambling than others. It's good to evaluate your life before and see if you have struggled with cigarettes, drugs, alcohol or even gaming. In case you have excessively consumed one of these things it's a good idea to have a close look on your gambling activities. Remain in control of your gambling habit should be the key for anybody with previous issues. Having a fixed set of rules is what helped me the most and be open about your activities to friends and family. Once you start lying to your family it's not far from lying to yourself.

I agree with your statement.

People who have experienced addiction in other forms are more prone to suffer addiction in gambling. Due to its nature, people are so inclined into chasing profits to the point that it ruins the whole experience for them. If you chase profits in an activity that is risky, then expect results to be inconsistent; though I strongly believe that if a person gambles more, the higher that he will experience losses than profits.

I just hope that if a person delves into the gambling world, he/she has the discipline in order to keep himself intact despite losses. Sure, winning is fun but if you experience rock bottom, then always remind yourself that this is only a temporary state.
671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When the fun stops on: September 18, 2023, 01:51:57 PM
Online gambling platforms exists not only to get you some lucky wins, it's also another form of entertainment,  but I will like to ask if truly you people are getting that entertainment from gambling?

Back when I used to gamble away my digital skins in CSGO, I find it fairly entertaining despite losing. I used to  bet online by watching teams compete against each other and when the team that I have betted on won, I will now receive my fair share of profit at the end.

But when I was losing, my goal of simply enjoying converted to a goal of profiting. That is time when my enjoyment ceased as I viewed gambling as an activity primarily for profit rather than enjoyment.

In conclusion, if you view gambling as an activity primarily for enjoyment, then the chance of a person enjoying it is high. But if you view it as a money-making venture, then expect results that may let you feel otherwise.
672  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can i get a functional wallet on: September 17, 2023, 06:45:08 PM
I'm a bit new in the forum and still trying to figure out how so many things work, I would love to know how to get a functional wallet address or a step-by-step guide on how to create one.

Another recommendation would be to utilize exchanges.

Generally, exchanges are a good way to store your cryptocurrencies TEMPORARILY given its simple and convenient nature. The only catch is, you have to transfer your funds on the very least given their history of being hacked across the internet.

Though this may be the case, I primarily store my BTCs in our local exchange in our country due to its convenience. I highly suggest that you consider and explore this option as you may be inclined into discovering features that you may find useful in the long run but remember that never store your BTCs in exchanges permanently.
673  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: percentage of your income you dollar cost average in bitcoin on: September 17, 2023, 06:21:48 PM
what portion of your overall income do you keep aside for the purpose of dollar cost averaging in bitcoin, and what methodologies or criteria do you employ to establish this allocation, thereby guaranteeing a well rounded strategy that aligns beautifully with your individual financial objectives and your level of comfort in dealing with financial risk?

As a law student, I have no means for a stable income. The only way I receive money is through my savings that are given to me by my parents every month. With this fact and along with my weekly campaign signature earnings, I save majority of my BTCs and use at least 10% of my monthly savings to be converted to BTCs in our local exchange.

While this kind of strategy is considered as a slow-burn method, it gets the job done given the circumstance that is available to me currently. Perhaps if I graduate two (2) years from now and I receive a monthly income, I would definitely consider adding another 10% of my monthly income to be totally designated to cryptocurrency HODL and long-term investments.
674  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are You Tax Efficient With Your Gambling Habbits? on: September 17, 2023, 05:59:21 PM
[....]
If not, what is the reasoning behind it?
I hardly make a big bank from gambling on a yearly basis so it doesn't make sense to even add that to the income tax returns. I think authorities should only go after casinos since they rarely end up in a loss. It's probably more costly for them to go after most casual gamblers that don't even keep a record of their wins and losses.

I agree with your statement.

The profit/loss that I have incurred during my whole gambling spree is relatively insignificant that I would had to pay some sort of tax for it to be demandable by the government. Sure, I have won $5-$20 at most and lost way more than what I have betted as a whole. The tax issue in gambling is something that I have overlooked, let alone that I neglected.

Maybe I was ignorant of that time or perhaps the enforceability of our laws is not strictly applied to the point that everything has to be reflected on our tax declarations.
675  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino features you like and Don't like but you don't mind on: September 17, 2023, 05:22:46 PM
So you have been a gambler for at least 1year. Before Covid, you were a regular at the physical casino in your locality. You gambled with fiat. But when Covid hit, you discovered online casinos. You didn't need to gamble with fiat anymore but with cryptocurrencies. You tried out many online casinos but finally settled for one or two. There's no perfect casinos but you have stuck with this one occasionally trying out new casinos as advertised on the forum or out there but you still return to your favorite casinos. What are the features in your favorite casinos that you like that makes you keep going back and what are the features that you don't like at your favorite casino but you overlook them and still play there?

Probably one of those casino features that I find tedious is the amount of KYC documents that they are asking. Sure, I understand that some gambling websites have to comply with statutory requirements enacted with their respective laws but it somehow defeats the purpose of having your personal information secured.

Another thing that I dislike is the lack of any UI that prevents any form of communication with your fellow players. While others my disagree with this system, having to discuss with other people makes everything both lively and interactive.
676  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Free spins are also a demo in disguise? on: September 17, 2023, 03:12:56 PM
OP, "a demo in disguise"? I believe not. You said you and your friend won $15.00 from free spins. That's actually not very bad! You can't actually expect to win hundreds or thousands from free spins unless they're for slot-machines with progressive jackpots, no?

Plus DYOR on a user's edge in slot-machines. Because you don't, and the fact that you won $15.00, you're lucky. Many slot-machine players will lose $15.00. Haha.

Well like most have mentioned, demos and free spins are entirely different from one another but they may intertwined with each other.

The problem with "free spins" is that their rates are absurdly low for one to receive any kind of reward. Sure, they are considered as "free" but the odds of a person really profiting from such is so low that many had doubts as to whether people can actually win on it. Maybe this is the reason on why you thought that these free spins are demo versions due to the fact that the chances of winning is low.

Though this may be the case, the greatest example that overthrows your theory is the experience of your friend. The fact that he won $15 from it is a testament that these free spins are not demos.
677  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it too late to seek a new beginning? on: September 16, 2023, 04:39:43 PM
I've been a little busy lately, which has reduced the amount of time I spend here, but I believe I'm finally prepared to embark on the path to becoming a bitcoin expert. I desire a new beginning and am hoping that my prior participation in bounties was not improper. In order to accomplish this aim of mine, I will need all of your help and guidance.

Please From where do I begin?

Since you just mentioned that you desire a "new beginning", then I guess you better start at the very first beginning. Starting from the start may not sound bad at all if you have poor fundamentals and understanding on how cryptocurrencies work in the first place. If you understand the basics, then you can slowly transition to topics that are complex.

At the outset, it may sound too tedious but in hindsight you would understand on why this process is better than making shortcuts. Every expert on a certain field was once a beginner- make this your mindset and you will definitely feel your journey to be fruitful.
678  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How valuable BTC has become overtime on: September 16, 2023, 04:07:18 PM
This doesn't affect me personally because I consider my old transaction a push in order to have this great success in the crypto industry. if weren't for those transactions we have back then, we wouldn't even talking all these things here or they might even be ignored or forgotten because it won't survive if those transactions never happen. Right now, all I can do is just continue doing the things I want which is buying low and selling high and a little bit of trading as well, in that way I'm still getting some decent amount of income whenever the price gets back to its ATH.

If we laughed at and criticized those who chose iPhones over bitcoin many years ago, we should also laugh at those who sold bitcoins for 1 thousand dollars or Laszlo Hanyecz who spent 10 thousand bitcoins to buy 2 Pizza.  we should even regret spending so much in the past because if we had let that money invest in bitcoin we would all have become rich.  I've seen so many threads about this meme in recent days that I really find this a pointless and tasteless comparison because the future is unpredictable.

I somehow understand the people who sold their BTCs for a handful of relatively cheaper items (e.g. pizza, iPhones, etc.) given the state and nature of BTC during that time. But with all the recent developments, news, and breakthroughs that BTC had evolved, people should consider its potential and opportunity in HODLing it for long-term.

At this time, it is highly recommended for people to HODL and at least invest it for either short or long-term. Given its price history index, that is proof that the trend of the price is to increase especially during forks.
679  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit withdrawal pending for over 16 hours on: September 16, 2023, 03:14:42 PM
okay everything is resolved now. Did kyc yesterday, still says ''needs-review'' then today the team asked me why I deposited in the first place, told them why and withdrawal has arrived, a lot of you guys are saying it was because I didnt wager anything which makes a lot of sense and I agree with but unfortunately I didnt think about this before withdrawing. thank you to everyone who helped

This is really informative to hear. At least RollBit kept their promise to deliver an exceptionally well-handled customer service support system. Though there may have been issues, this is proof that they are willing to fix and resolve any issues to preserve their name in the online gambling industry.

This should be a prime example to anyone who plans on creating their own online gambling website. Sure, you may consider high bonuses and rewards to your players but providing a seamless customer service support system is as much as important to the rewards you may provide.
680  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Top 5 Gambling Strategies on: September 16, 2023, 02:09:50 PM
Ow, I'm doing the complete opposite of strategy number 2. I always start with small bets and then increase them bit by bit as my bankroll grows gradually. Could this be one reason why I have not been very successful in my gambling sessions? Does anyone else bet this way?
This is called martingale strategy. It is a good strategy, but it is good if you can use it wisely, else it can lead to a significant loss. I have used it in roulettes 3x odd and it has been working effectively. I can try it from $0.5, $2, $5 up to $15. At any point that I will at $2, I quite for that day. But loss after $15, I quit for the day.

It has not been the reason for loss, people are more prone to lose in gambling no matter the strategy used. That is why we should gamble with the amount of money that we can afford to lose.

There has been a study that the Martingale Strategy does not really work on the end. In fact, it can only be profitable if you win on your first bets but if it gets out of hand to the point that a losing-streak is inevitable, then it other strategies are better.

I agree with you- people are prone to losing in a gambling game the more they play in the process. This is the reason on why if a person experiences a profit on their gambling activity, even if it were the first game, they should definitely cash out and call it a day.
