1621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some say Bitcoin is dead but Bitcoin is not dead on: September 18, 2022, 03:02:14 PM
those who say bitcoin is dead just want a cheap bitcoin price so they can take a cheap price for bitcoin waiting for people to panic sell it up to a cheap price, but we need to learn from before bitcoin is often said to be dead but until today or later bitcoin always live long for feet all here for bitcoin

Unfortunately, the people who claim that bitcoin is 'dead' are mostly the ones who have nothing to do or personally invested in BTC.

I remember back in 2017, BTC prices were around $4,000 on the market. The price was consistently fluctuating and when 2018 came, its price skyrocketed reaching an ATH of ~$19,000. The news broke out and majority of the people invested and purchased BTC without even knowing the cause of such price increase. Unfortunately after a few weeks/months, the price crashed and majority of the people who just started investing lost their money.

The problem is, the same people who lost their money from their investment are also the ones who kept spreading false information and news about BTC being a 'scam'.
1622  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Choices: Gamble or Help the poor ? on: September 18, 2022, 02:33:38 PM
In order to understand the psychology of gamblers, i have decided to come up few questions for discussions, and here is the first one.

Suppose that you are a responsible gambler who have allocated a certain portion of money to gamble each month. Now you came across a poor person/family who is in urgent need of money. Will you quit the gambling for that month and give the allocated money to the poor family or will you prefer to gamble as you can't live without gambling ?

It really depends but helping to charity must be done wholeheartedly. Remember, we are in no obligation to help the needy but we have such compassionate attitude that we extend our help to them. Maybe a better idea would be to decrease your allocation to your gambling activities by 10-20% and give remainder to the ones who need it.

Gambling is a habit that can potentially destroy a person's livelihood if not controlled. In order to help other people, you must help yourself first by dividing and spending your money wisely.
1623  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you being secretive about your gambling activity? on: September 18, 2022, 01:32:39 PM
Are you hiding your gambling activity from your loved ones, family or so?
Or are you being 100% open about gambling?

 Huh

Actually I am not hiding my gambling activity maybe because I am not that addicted to it? In fact, I am very open with my gambling activity as I often treat my parents and brothers whenever I win in the physical casino!

I think it is very important that you should inform your parents and/or peers about your gambling habits. In this way, they would know if you are too deep and invested into this habit and they would be the ones helping you getting out of this bottomless pit.
1624  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto Casinos vs money laundering. on: September 17, 2022, 09:02:11 PM
KYC is not enough for crypto casinos? Crypto casinos should check all its players source of funds?

I'm not siding with the casinos on this, but that's probably what the regulators and authorities are asking them to do. Similar to how banks ask you for a statement about the source of funds when you want to deposit or withdraw a large sum of money. Only thing that I find unfair about casinos is that they do not ask for this information when making deposits or when registering, but when withdrawing money after winning. So basically, people that move large sums of money into the casino are not being asked to do this, but people that just won a moderate amount of money are.

This is somehow a difficult boundary to draw a line with- you are dealing with an online casino who abides with their respective laws in their country vs respecting the privacy of the person on your gambling website. Personally, there are lots of people who consider KYC as a make or break function in their choice of gambling due to the volume and amount of bets they do in a gambling website.

Though implementing more features and security may determine if a person is laundering money, this could be destructive in the gambling owner's perspective in attracting more users to its database.
1625  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why going for 1.02 odds and below on: September 17, 2022, 06:42:07 PM
I tell you my point of view.... regardless of the value of an odds, I try to bet on events that have the "certainty" of occurring.

for example if I can bet on the victory of a football team that wins 3-0 in the 80th minute I don't look at the odds (I consider the event as certain to occur). I don't choose an odds if it's lower but I choose if it is an event that it's going to happens.

This is interesting- can you expound on the meaning of "certainty" on what you just stated?

Generally, I tend to disregard the odds stipulated and just go with my gut on the bets that I usually encounter. More importantly, I also follow the bets that most people offer in the live betting website, so I am curious on how you go with the definition of "certainty.:

As much as possible, I also go all out on bets that I am sure that the odds are higher on my favour (e.g. sportbets, etc.).
1626  Economy / Economics / Re: King Charles pays no inheritance tax on the Queen's $750M private estate on: September 16, 2022, 11:57:18 PM
British monarchy is possible the most expensive to maintain in the developed world and this is just another cost.

This is also the reason on why only a few countries remained monarchy given on how much power is given to Kings and Queens and the costs of maintaining all of their properties plus service.

I think this should be resolve in a case-to-case basis. Given that Queen ruled and devoted for 70 years in her country, I think it is just necessary that the inheritance for King Charles should be waived and be exempted on paying taxes. As long as their laws allow such, then I definitely see no problem with it; though the tax that should have been paid will be for the benefit of their citizens.
1627  Economy / Gambling / Re: 1 - The copycat epidemic within crypto casinos. on: September 16, 2022, 11:49:32 PM
It is clear that people are overreacting on the copycat situation, if it is not a phishing attempt, then finding casinos with just a little bit of design difference but generally the same thing would be going on for sure. I mean I know a lot of casinos that just copied the system of stake, and did their own version of it but none of them are even remotely close to it.

This is why I highly doubt that stake is worried about any copycats. That is why if you are a good casino then you have nothing to worry about. I personally do not worry about any of this as a gambler because I know which ones are good and I only gamble in those ones without a worry.

I agree with you.

Again, choosing a gambling casino is like going/visiting to your favorite restaurant or store. It is all about brand-building where you develop a trust between your customers over the positive feedback and service that you provided. Sure, some gambling casinos might copy the design of Stake or its system but if they fail to meet the needs of their customers, they will not be preferred.

Like what I also previously mentioned, gambling casinos have to develop this certain relationship where a fiduciary trust must be developed. That is why, customer support is very essential between the player and the gambling website in solving their respective issues.
1628  Local / Pilipinas / Re: DOST naglunsad ng Blockchain Training Program -- on: September 16, 2022, 11:42:58 PM
Well, nagulat din ako dahil naisama na sa lecture namin sa logistics ang blockchain as one of them.
Maganda kase talaga ang technology ng blockchain, hinde lang sya basta currency it can really solve some of the business problem and with that logistics situation, probably it can be more transparent if the company decided to adopt blockchain, may I know kung anong school ito?
Nakakatuwa naman kase very open na talaga tayo sa blockchain technology and with cryptocurrency, malaking tulong ito para sa nakakarami. Sana lang den ay mas maging open ang training program ng DOST, looking forward for other training program of our government.

1629  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why I love Bitcoin and bitcointalk on: September 16, 2022, 05:02:03 PM
Growing up I have always love privacy, I have always done well through privacy more than flowing with the crowd and this have drive my passion to both bitcoin and bitcointalk, since they're both allow me to learn and invest all by myself. With this forum being an anonymous platform I don't need to know anyone or work with a group before getting whatever guidance and correction I need to guide my decision, And Bitcoin on the other hand made my financial life highly anonymous to the core. Thanks Satoshi Nakamoto for this development and for giving us a platform to thrive upon away from the conversational financial system filled with corruption and control.

I wholeheartedly agree with you.

Not only did this forum provide anonymity where you are free to share your thoughts without being apprehended (as long as you follow the forum rules). This is what Satoshi envisioned- to have a forum where people would continuously discuss and share their thoughts on cryptocurrencies where people would also adapt and create innovations on new altcoins.

Not only did this forum provide such but it also gave us the opportunity to earn our BTCs through various processes and methods.
1630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Bitcoin changed my life on: September 16, 2022, 03:45:48 PM
Just to share to you a similar story, the way BTC changed not only my life but also the life of my family is just amazing.

It is really difficult to earn money in a third-world country. Competition is too high given that job opportunities pay below our minimum wage ($10-$15/day). Not to mention, those jobs that pay below the MW are the ones that require strenuous effort and taxing jobs. This forum gave me the opportunity of working conveniently online. Not only did it help me support my education, but it also supported in alleviating some of the expenses in our household.

I hope that people would become more aware of the opportunities that BTC provided.
1631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When betting becomes to high on: September 16, 2022, 03:03:55 PM
Have you ever had an experience betting in which you knew that you were going over the limits of you finances and still continued? I have one playing a game, it was absorbing plenty of my time and despite me knowing it, I was kind of hooked on it. It was not a financial problem, but left me wondering how easy is to actually fall into a bad habit and how difficult is to break it.

Yes definitely- I sometimes called and refer to it as the "cycle of gambling."

Unfortunately, the basic instinct of a person whenever he/she experiences a loss is to quickly recover it through gambling again. This creates a cycle wherein a person would have this hope of recovering all of his losses but in reality, he would just incur more losses in the process.

Unfortunately, this happens too many often and the remedy is to actually bring someone with you to act as your "limiter" in order to avoid going on with your limits. Another remedy is NOT to bring your credit card and only to bring a handful amount of cash to prevent from overspending.
1632  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Clarity on KYC verification & online gambling. on: September 16, 2022, 02:38:53 PM
I understand the importance of KYC verification to be carried out by casinos, but since the introduction of use of cryptocurrency in gambling by online casinos and other betting services, does KYC verification from online casinos and sport betting services not directly go against the anonymity that cryptocurrency seeks to provide to people? Does it mean that gambling online anonymously is no longer possible?

I do think that cryptocurrency casinos is just the incident of it- the primary purpose is to establish an online gambling website that is compatible with cryptocurrencies. Basically, it just your typical online gambling website but the payment options and payouts that are available are cryptocurrencies.

The implementation of KYC documents is for the benefit of the casino since it has to comply with the existing laws in a country. If they fail to comply, then the licenses will be revoked, thus losing their progress and website in an instant.
1633  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: It Is Dangerous To Completely Rely On Cryptocurrencies on: September 15, 2022, 11:59:31 PM
It is potentially dangerous if you COMPLETELY and ABSOLUTELY rely on cryptocurrencies without any stable income to back it.

The problem with fully committing with cryptocurrencies is that the latter's nature is generally risky and unforeseeable. You literally have no clue when its price may increase/decrease, even though there are tests and researches done in the market. If you fully commit to cryptocurrencies, you would definitely see a fluctuations on your investment as time goes by.
1634  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to choose an online casino? on: September 15, 2022, 11:37:07 PM
I've been playing online casino slot machines for a while now, and I'm looking for advice on which ones are the best. I like to play the ones with lots of different payouts and bonuses, but sometimes the games take a long time to load. Do you have any suggestions for me?

It all depends on your preference, but generally here some things that you should consider:

  • KYC;
  • Active customer support service;
  • The overall layout/design of the website
  • Overall feedback of the community; and
  • The games that they offer as a whole.

Generally, the abovementioned list works to any gambling website that you should choose as this touches upon the feedback that majority of the users say in the community. If you are sensitive with KYC, then choose a casino that does not offer such. But more importantly, choose a casino that has an overall good feedback in order to avoid scams and delays on your payment.

1636  Economy / Economics / Re: What define your success, "money, fame or achievement"? on: September 12, 2022, 05:54:47 PM
Success is relative which can be defined in various of ways. For example, a rich man would suggest that he is successful if he earns around millions of $$$ in his pocket; while an average worker in a third-world country may define success as having to provide with his family while saving at least money for emergency purpose.

People nowadays are too focused on getting rich, which is not entirely wrong. But they have to understand that everything has to start from somewhere. Every person must persevere and learn from all their mistakes in order to avoid the pitfalls that most people have experienced.

Just like in cryptocurrency, understanding the market and learning all the aspects may give you a chance of becoming successful but it is in no means an absolute formula of getting one rich.
1637  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto currency Awareness Campaign on: September 12, 2022, 05:39:36 PM
It is okay to educate anyone that you know but these days are dangerous. You don't approach alone someone and educate and ask them if they want to know bitcoin and etc., you don't know what's on the mind of people these days and since there's a crisis.
I don't really understand what you mean.
But nothing wrong to educate someone, especially the person we already know well. But make sure that he isn't a person who is against digital investment or crypto. If he has no intention to have digital assets, we don't need to educate him. We don't need to know someone's mind, it is impossible. As long as we educate him in a proper way, I think it deserves to try. Regarding a crisis, it shouldn't be an obstacle because everyone can invest in a small amount.

The problem with communicating something that is novel to a person is getting their interest. No matter how articulate and complete you try to explain cryptocurrencies, if the person is just not interested, then your efforts will be going to waste.

Just asking a simple question can do the trick! You might also want to show your earnings to your relatives; or show them your mining equipments, etc. in order to at least give them the framework of your idea. Once they start asking questions, their curiosity would spark that will eventually turn into interest.
1638  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🪄 arcanebet.com 🪄 Your new favourite Crypto Casino 🎲 on: September 12, 2022, 05:21:27 PM
you are allowing people to create accounts and make deposits, but you are not allowing people to withdraw money from them without KYC, this is not fair, I think even in a court of law the judge would not give reason for a TOS like this, the it would be right for you to force people to do KYC when they create accounts, we all know that few people read KYC before creating accounts, so the most likely scenario will be that we see a lot of people with funds held in your casino
Before it's too late, they must have a solution to write warnings on the registration and crypto deposit page about KYC due many people do not care and they are unwilling to try to withdraw button. because they have used it, especially since this site has the same license which they think is the same way as another casino.

Oh this should be clearly written and stated on the gambling website. If you have plans on implementing KYC function, then it must be introduced at the earliest stage possible whenever a person would like to create an account.

If the gambler deposits money without requiring any KYC but in order to get their profits they have to submit KYC documents, this would put them on a heavily prejudiced situation which might cost the reputation of your gambling website. This would result to a very unfair situation to the player as this would basically compel them to submit these documents.
1639  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bear Market thread on: September 12, 2022, 05:08:27 PM

Sa totoo lang, sa ganitong panahon talaga wala ka magagawa but to take advantage of its volatility while mababa pa ang presyo nito sa market.

1640  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some Limitations of Bitcointalk Members from Developing Countries on: September 12, 2022, 04:54:38 PM
Just like any technology that has been present, there is always that adaptation that people have to embrace. This forum was created in order to be the main repository and discussion of all crypto-related news/threads. As such, it exists solely on the internet, like social media, etc. It just so happened that this is a forum.

The limitations that you posted can also be applicable to anything that solely exists in the internet. But the biggest difference is the wallet that some local exchanges have.

As someone who lives in a third-world country, my biggest limitation is indeed the source of internet. With the latter being an essential rather than a want, at this day and age, people should have at least some stable connection in their homes in order to access this privilege.
