961  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A rooted phone for a crypto user safe ? on: August 28, 2022, 11:40:38 AM
~
Though rooting gives you full control of your device and you can modify a lot of stuffs like the theme of your phone and tweak something to your phone performance such as its battery life and CPU clock speed (as far as I am aware to some devices). If one is really enthusiastic doing it for the hobby, s/he should just do it in another device that does not contain any sensitive information.

@OP, like everyone mentioned in here, better get that unrooted first before you attempt to do anything that would involve your money. Reformatting won't unroot your phone. You either need to flash your stock ROM from the phone's manufacturer or use a dedicated rooting tool which I used back then from my old dead phone. Just be careful though as the process might brick your phone like Lucius mentioned, but it should not be a problem as long as your phone has plenty of battery power and a reliable USB connection.

On a side note, many banking application would refuse to run on rooted device.
This is quite nice to know. Back then, I did not install any apps that would involve my money so I was not sure. Either way I might not install one anyway since I am scared to brick my phone and lose access to my banking apps.

I thought it was only printed in the shirts until I looked into the posters outside. I am pretty sure that most of the people there already knew about Bitcoin since you mentioned it as a sponsor. Not familiar from the logo shown in the photos so I am pretty sure it is not here in my country which is kind of bummer. I would be so shocked in a good way when someone wears a Bitcoin shirt here in my area since people here around my area does not know what crypto truly is let alone Bitcoin.

I guess I also answered already your question on the condition of crypto and Bitcoin here in my area. I am still hoping that people around here in my area considers using it at least if not investing to it. I am not going to put too much effort letting people know about crypto in here since here in my block, people are close minded anyways. Cheesy
963  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bull Run and Bear Market on: August 27, 2022, 09:28:21 PM
No one could answer exactly when but you could rely on history as a basis. The previous bull run happens every four years based on what happened before so there's a possibility that the same thing could happen again but there's still no guarantee. But as you wait for the bull run, you better have enough preparation by buying potential coins while it's still cheap.
I would not rely too much in history especially when we're talking about Bitcoin. Just by looking at CMC historical data for Bitcoin prices throughout the year, we should have been into bull run couple months back, but we did not anyway. Remember that we are not in the stock market and even though supply and demand contributes to the price, the market that we are at is still volatile.
Just invest what you can afford to lose and fingers crossed for that. It is a gamble, but it is hella worth it if you play your game right.

964  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: in debt but want to invest. on: August 27, 2022, 07:21:29 PM
If you had 100k loan and ignored it, took another loan and invested everything a year ago at 30k you'd still make enough to pay back everything and have money on top of it by the end of the year.
That's not a very smart thing to, to go into so much debt for any investment, including bitcoin. Sure, you will most likely profit in the long run, but bitcoin price may stay below your entry for years and you might suddenly need money/lose job etc. On top of that, we live in very uncertain times with recession knocking at our door.
This was what I was thinking after the part you quoted from darkangel11's reply. To add it up, it was a year ago and we are not sure how Bitcoin would fare at x amount of month/years. It would also suck to pay your debts from your earnings from crypto considering it would be a long-term investment as well. Just imagine all your returns just going to pay all your debts instead of having something to keep for your own wants if not needs. Another thing worth to mention is that it would also suck to be buried in debt. I heard a lot of tragic stories in Trading Discussion board about OP telling a story about his friend took his own life due to debt. It is a sensitive thread/topic to talk about and I do not want to get too much further into it.
965  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mine a Bitcoin or buy a bitcoin? on: August 27, 2022, 06:06:04 PM

I guess retailers knew that it is profitable anyway that is why they are ramping up the price regardless. Even if Bitcoin was down to 20k, as of writing this, it is still going to be rewarding to some people that are willing to invest to these rigs depending on their region. Here in my country, GPU costs a lot even though I do not think that mining is quite popular in here but maybe due to the price of top cryptos these days. It is quite rare for me to hear people getting into crypto mining due to how insane electricity costs in here

Thanks for your input by the way!
966  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mine a Bitcoin or buy a bitcoin? on: August 26, 2022, 08:36:15 PM

Not sure how much ASIC rig costs these days considering that back in 2021, I even struggled to get my GPU for my home use, lol and the prices of it were skyrocketing due to shortages from a lot of factors like scalpers. I would just go for Bitcoin at the end of the day if I was trying to get something to earn some returns from. Couple of months ago, electricity costs were quite awful here in my country so getting a rig would be hella not be worth it even in a single penny.

You also mentioned cloud mining there. I believe that people are seeing the all as 99% scam so I would not even budging any luck there if I was starting to get into Bitcoin.
967  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why it's so hard to rank-up? on: August 26, 2022, 08:13:42 PM

There are way better opportunities out there other than just focusing on bounties. I live in a third world country and the first time I looked for a job back then as a fresh graduate sucked a lot and I tell ya that it takes plenty of luck and not just how you get those resume fired up for employers. Not to mention, I also did freelancing and it sucked the first time but I finally got the hang of it and it went better than expected overtime and finally earned my reputation as Top Rated in Upwork.

Going back to what you're talking about, ranking up would either suck or be "easy peasy lemon squeezy" for some people and it is fine either way since this is just a forum anyway and not an earning platform where every single user should pursue ranking up.

You are not obliged to reply to a thread, but you still have the means to read like NeuroticFish mentioned above my reply. Just move on to the next topic of your interest if you feel that your response would be either not visible or become repetition or both.
This forum has a plenty of boards and/or threads to offer where you can hop in and join into conversation, so I am pretty sure that should not be an issue for you, OP. I hope.
Just don't go necroposting.
969  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Clipboard Virus on: August 25, 2022, 09:02:15 PM

I also hope that if OP would still choose Windows at the end of the day by him/herself, s/he would really get the legitimate ones as the pirated ones surely have some malware in them. My friend long time ago had to ask me for an advice before that something feels wrong with his machine even though it was a "clean install" and I just found out that there was a weird "EXE" file running in the background in Task Manager that should not be there.
He installed it by himself and he used the usual pirated ones and it is not even illegally activated yet.
At the end of the day, I just gave him the word that he should buy a legitimate copy of his Windows instead or go Linux if he prefers it.

Thanks for sharing the experience you encounter through saving your private key your email account, which is not saved at all, because hacker can easily access the account and collect the private, which can not be reset, therefore saving your private key offline hardware is the best and is more secured.
Take note also what the OP is trying to point out about the dangers of copy-pasting stuffs.

The thread you linked is really a nice compilation. I had watched plenty of techy movies like on involving Snowden which I am pretty sure many knows who he is, but I had never encountered any movies like that yet.
I am not really a fan of books though when it comes to Bitcoin, though I still read books but a different niche/topic instead.
Curious to how many more movies out there are focused to crypto, considering that  Bitcoin has been in awareness of the many already. Roll Eyes
971  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which option will better to take? on: August 24, 2022, 10:08:34 PM

No need to worry if decentralization won't take over. Surely we still can talk about how Bitcoin and fiat would co-exist with each other though it should be independent. We don't need Bitcoin to be legal tender. As long as Bitcoin is not banned or being stopped from being used, we don't need to worry about it too much. We are more than okay already, since we might not want government to attempt to control each and everyone's money as being termed as "legalized" or being used as "legal tender".

I would enjoy doing transaction with my friends without involving any authorities in day-to-day basis.

To be honest back then, I thought that making Bitcoin a legal tender is the ultimate goal but nah. It should be obvious but I just had realization.
972  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which option will better to take? on: August 24, 2022, 04:54:10 PM

BTC as a legal tender or not is not going to change a shitty economy of a country. I can recall back in 2017 when people were having that thoughts that Bitcoin would even solve unemployment and poverty as that is one notable economic problem that countries encounter.
Illegal stuff like money laundering are even happening outside crypto so we cannot just assume that just crypto would be able to resolve it just that easily and heck to those people that even think that Bitcoin should be banned because it is used for all those illegal activities that you could think of.

I cannot recall who was that user but this thread made me recall of that one user that mentioned that making Bitcoin as a legal tender is a no-no since regulations would happen which is somehow against to the nature of Bitcoin itself and...... he has a good point.
973  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why it's so hard to rank-up? on: August 24, 2022, 04:40:28 PM
.....in less than 1 hour you could earn at least 100 000 satoshis, and with active referrals, even 500 000 satoshis per day. I remember a Russian site that was something like a PTC with faucets, and there I often used to get 200 000 satoshis in one click - which of course was not much considering the price of Bitcoin in those days of only $200+.
100k satoshis in an hour? Dang, I could recall when I attempted faucets back in 2017 and I could even barely get 500 satoshis in a day during that year when I started even when I tried multiple faucets. I can still recall that I must get into 10k satoshi first from one website before I could even withdraw it. Spoiler alert, I was not able to withdraw it as it was really tedious for me to rotate/switching all the faucets I bookmarked. Not sure what happened to it, but I ain't going back there. Cheesy

Thanks for sharing your experience by the way! I can see how some things changed overtime. Smiley
974  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Clipboard Virus on: August 23, 2022, 10:48:51 PM
I never encountered this malware since I almost never send any of my holdings at all, but this thread kind of reminds me of that thread made by LoyceV back in 2019 on how you can possibly lose your coins with just doing the usual copy-pasting method.
Usually I check the last 5 characters of any addresses I input whenever I do transaction regardless of what amount.

@OP Good to hear that you already got rid of it to avoid further losses. That would be so traumatic in my end knowing that I sent it to the "hacker's address".

This was the thread that I was referring by the way : How to lose your Bitcoins with CTRL-C CTRL-V

I can somehow relate when I first started I even recall earning some shit tokens back in 2017 which was my year of starting in crypto. Come to think of it, I subconsciously earned some meme coin during those times. One token I remembered was Sparta (or Spartan?), lol. I am not sure anymore where those tokens went since my old brain could not keep track on how much meme coins I tried to pursue.
I also had the thoughts of buying Doge, though I did not manage to find any faucets. I kinda wished I experienced those years in crypto in your perspective, but hey since I went full Bitcoin holder, it is never too late to buy one. Cheesy
976  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help me answering a survey for my dissertation on: August 22, 2022, 09:49:04 PM

Your comment made me recall when I first did a title proposal to our professor in our university. The first thought of my professor was that we were going to use cryptocurrency to gamble and that would be one of our scopes and limitation of our study, but I kindly said no to him, lol. It was still approved at the end of the day, but the process of doing the study itself was hell since there were not a lot of samples to gather around my area at that time and usually we only resorted to online surveys.

Since OP is already conducting a survey, I am pretty sure that his/her/their title was already approved otherwise no such thread would be made at all.

Even if they have no experience with Bitcoin at all, I am pretty sure they were really interested knowing more about Bitcoin. You do not have to be so interested in order to learn something. It kind of reminded me when I was learning C# and C++, while I was not fully interested in programming at all, but all in all I was still curious to how programming is done. When you get serious about it, you're definitely going to just invest time for yourself more and learn more about the in-depth knowledge.

Going back to the topic, surely money is not the motivating factor for OP's friends. Bitcoin might have volatile price but I don't think you would just learn about investing in Bitcoin due to its volatility alone.
978  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What the pressure for success comes with on: August 22, 2022, 06:12:53 PM

Success in trading =/= Success from forum. You could be an established member here either from marketplace or trading items from different users here, but you could be crap in day trading at basic levels and you would not know the common trading stuffs like RSI or Bollinger Band since that is not your niche.
Users should not feel bad if they do not really find "success" in here, since not everyone is here to be an established member anyway. They could just be here because they wanted to gain knowledge, ask questions, or learn more about the trends in crypto since we got an Altcoin Discussion board which is nice if one is not only a fan of Bitcoin only.
You do you like always.

Hey! Kinda wished that I was in this forum that year. I might not have bought Bitcoin, but surely I would have been "more" educated towards it since my misconception back then was that Bitcoin was a coin being used in the dark web. That was what I was wrongly taught back in those years.
I usually listened to some random podcasts about the internet that year in Youtube, lol.
I have a wandering thoughts though. Were altcoins really like "worthy" in those years or were they just mostly shitcoins that we get these days? I am totally curious.

Hey, we're at the same country!
Bitcoin is really like a lot when converted here in our country. Even each decimal places is worth a lot to be honest and I would not even mind holding just .01 BTC and what more if we're talking about 1 whole Bitcoin. This is why I usually tell other people especially in 3rd world countries to not worry if they do not hold a whole Bitcoin. Cheesy
