You are just missing the many many old BFL threads that are closed now. This is nothing new and has been going on for years. If you want short threads just don't reply, its that easy.

Tired of substandard power distribution in your ASIC setup???   Chris' Custom Cablez will get you sorted out right!  No job too hard so PM me for a quote

.......

The bottom line is what you are getting from KNC is over engineered and not over designed.  Imagine how upset people would be if we had something that looked great but we were delayed because of the design.

Thanks

Sam

Sam, Thank you for the response... I think anybody who actually paid money could care less about the aesthetics / brand name of the components.

From a personal standpoint, as long as the thing hash's to the spec, and the deadline is kept it you can send it in a cardboard box with pinwheels for fans and I'd be happy... Keep it up and you'll have a lifetime customer.

Let it go dude, we all know you have a huge man boner for Bitcoinorama.

It's obvious with the copious amount of time you spend ranting about him.

Also someone bent your tinfoil hat, you might want to go make another one.
I reponding to the lies and BS he fed me yesterday. You can check my posts - I barely posted anything in this thread before yesterday. You are fairly shill-ish too, but very few take any notice of you. Orama is the main person who's lies need to be called out.

hopefully more people lie to you..  and your brain explodes

no, longer threads are ok, but it gets hard to find useful information when some people put out a 300 pages yell "scam" , when it is obviously no scam.

As for the external power supply. Most small devices come with an external power supply ours is just a big devices that needs one. We could make our device bigger and have the power supply inside which would mean a larger shipping box, and a larger package sent to you. That would mean extra shipping costs. It would also mean more engineering of the airflow inside the case. (all fans must point the same way really) This comes under the “waste of time category” a far quicker solution is to let the customer supply and use an external power supply, (like all of the smaller components) Then you can simply have it on the outside of the case so it won’t get in the way of the airflow. Yes it fits on a 19inch rack shelf, There is space behind the unit for a power supply on the shelves (this is what we are doing in our hosting), You are welcome to use cable ties to make it look nice and keep it secure if you want to.
Another one of our internal rules is that unless its 100% essential we simply don’t spend time on it.

Obviously you've considered rack density of the units?  What are your projections?  6 machines per cabinet? The machine is ~4.5RU and shelve minimum of 1RU for anything stable.  Getting more and/or larger power rails run to a rack is far cheaper than the square footage consumed by a cabinet in a typically data center contract.   I merely mentioned zip ties before in jest regarding the rigged piles of FPGAs some folks had.

which figure will be higher on shipment day 1 ?

a) jupiter final hashing power (in GH/s)

b) pages of this thread

i don´t get it why the most serious asic company gets the the harshest criticism. 336 pages. wow. how many pages of hatred would one expect towards bfl or avalon - companies that really kicked their customers in the dirt - must be thousands of pages. but i can´t find them. all the haters jump on knc. but why ? fear ?

guys, even phinnaeus gage calmed down, why don´t you ?

edit: wtf avalon ? ship the chips !-thread: started 29th of july; 22 pages so far. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=264098.0

this knc thread between 29th of july and today: 111 pages

You are right, all ASIC vendors are a target of harsh criticism. However I disagree that this criticism is the consequence of hate. I do not think anyone here really hates KnCminer, but there are many forum users which really hate other user's opinion. So this leads to unnecessary responses. For each user which comes here and express their opinion, there are few users which will try to suppress that opinion. Some people will not just remain silent after the suppression attempt, so more responses will follow. Now if you consider that some of this opinion haters really like to write long posts, you can figure out why the thread is so long.

The excessive number of posts is also a result of the lack of good communication by KnCminer. That is, of course, a criticism from my part. I do not hate KnCminer, but at the same time I am not afraid to express my opinion. As I said few posts ago, if KnCminer had kept a good relationship with the forum users, I am certain that this thread would not grown to such extent.

Your initial question is really interesting. I would guess option 1 if KnCminer keep up with their promises, otherwise this thread is going to grow faster than ever.

You are just missing the many many old BFL threads that are closed now. This is nothing new and has been going on for years. If you want short threads just don't reply, its that easy.

no, longer threads are ok, but it gets hard to find useful information when some people put out a 300 pages yell "scam" , when it is obviously no scam.

That is a completely reasonable reaction from many users after the BFL fiasco. Many users in this forum followed the BFL circus from the begin up to now. That do not means everyone thinks KnCminer is a scam. I am personally very suspicious of their activities, however that is just my opinion. Few users have different opinions and I accept that. Sometimes is really difficult to obtain precise information here, however I think many forum users had provided very good assumptions when the information was lacking. The valid criticisms are as well a very good source of information.

You aren't a customer or likely to be one either. So why even be here?
I could give a shit about any of this now, I did my DD and made a decision long ago. Same applies to most people.
Of course you can always wait until ASICs turn up on a shelf in a local shop and are no risk at all to buy...good luck with that.

How the hell it's fair to pile the shit that BFL created onto another company because they are in the same business..that's beyond me.
There again, so was a couple of pages of people arguing with graphics about a bloody ignore colour?

On the subject of bullshitters, didn't you promise to bugger off a couple of week ago Mr Croppo ?

The guy arguing is making wild assumptions about the KNCminer chip with few hard facts, so you can pretty much ignore the post and save your popcorn until both units are shipping. Then they can start to debate the technical merits.

KnC will ROI, HalfFast will not.

Sadly, with the recent rate of difficulty increase, it appears that nothing will be able to ROI unless it's currently hashing and doing it right now.  And I say this having multiple Jupiters on order...

Wow. This thread is growing as we're getting closer to the release date. It will probably explode by the time we get to September.

Is the word may in your sentence above an indication of that you think this is something they should do, or that you have heard somewhere that they might supply vectors and run test on the tester?

I have no idea what they're actually going to do. I assume they know what they're doing.

I would also think you'd still need to pay for the whole wafer space even if your chip doesn't work, right? So getting rid of defective chips wouldn't actually save them $200, right? I figured it would only save them the cost of the PCB, and possibly add more time to their schedule.

You pay for the devices which pass your test on the tester. Bad yield is a problem of the ASIC vendor, not the their clients. Their yield is usually a well kept secret and not disclosed to others. You can also do binning as I've mentioned previously. The output of the test vectors can identify which part (e.g. which hashing core) has a defect.

A miner ASIC is not different from any other digital ASIC with some redundant logic like I've given examples of previously. Like many other designs it contains logic to generate a lot of coverage internally, uncovered nets can be covered by inserting logic. The output of the test vectors can tell you which hashing core has fault (just like with a multicore CPU as I mentioned earlier). Also this has noting to do with JTAG and nothing to do with functional verification or functional testing. It's to test the fabrication of the ASIC device itself.
