btw... of all the experimenting on the sats...70-79 seems to be the optimum temp
It takes about 1 and 1/2 hours to 2 hours to see the results on the graph, but looks to be a signifigant difference when you include several machines... about 40 gh/s for me... just by monitoring temps to 70-79 instead of letting them drop to 55-60 overnight. I use cardboard to block a bit of the airflow, and monitor the temps on the GUI, then watch for the results on the graph, and how high they peak over a couple hours. Well worth it for me.
When they said "Over-cooled", they weren't kidding!

I'm running naked case with a huge blower fan blowing across it and my temps are low 40's but the hashrate reported is only around 450. I turned the blower fan off and my hashrate jumped to 550 in fairly short order (less than half an hour I think, probably closer to 15 minutes) but when I noticed that the temps were going into the 70's I immediately turned the fan back on, and the hashrate promptly dropped back to 450.

Does anyone else know about the longevity concerns of running at 70+ degrees? Anyone else noticing similar results?

This is on 0.98 firmware btw.
it was asked to knc, and posted as an email reply... yes the machines are rated to run up to 105 C, and 70 is well within that range...    I experimented for two weeks now on 3 different machines.....the sweetspot is right there in the 70-75 range. Since each asic board is different, I customize each thru airflow separately.

Hum.  Take the machine apart, run it at temps well outside what the designers intended, act shocked when performance drops.

Is anybody else shaking their heads?

I'm shaking my head. In my experience miners run better and longer when they run cooler. I had no idea this Jupiter was from another planet. Wink

you missed the whole 'let's yank 4 VRMs off and ship firmware that bakes the remaining VRMs well over spec and flood the chips with HW errors' part of KNC history right?

Hmm wellll -- Jupiter is another planet as I recall...

My Saturn is running at about 50 to 52.5. Hash rate is 282 GHash to 303 Ghash is short bursts.

There seems to be no need to heat it up.

Give me this day my daily Bitcoin...

.98 is much better on p2pool. My Jupiter went from 440GH/s to 530GH/s.  Nice work KNC and Con.

Losing hundreds of Bitcoins with the best scammers in the business - BFL, Avalon, KNC, HashFast.

For those people having trouble connecting to *some* pools out there (the ones using round robin for DNS such as eligius), I have built a binary incorporating some upcoming changes to cgminer that hopefully should help:

http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/temp/cgminer

(For advanced users only since you have to copy this to your knc device under ssh as per my first binary upload).

ive updated to .98 right when it came out and noticed that i was yielding 15-20 gh/s more than previous firmwares.
i was hash around 565-570gh on the pool and this was shown on cgminer as well, but today i noticed that cgminer, bertmod and pool is displaying a decline in hash rate (cgminer showing 550gh down from 565gh), any idea why this is? the temps on the unit remain the same and i havent touched anything since i updated.

Customers can start hashing from tomorrow, 00:00.  Shocked

I too am noticing the same-old "Dwindle-down" of hashrate over time, and have to run "enablecores" on all the machines to get back, which lasts about 8 hours...before I really start noticing a drop

Mine has been sitting at 564-565 for over 24 hours,  as long as I keep it warm its all good, mine likes 50 - 60c anything below it starts  picking up more errors and hash rate drops, my error rate was between around 9 percent before cgminer upgrade, after I got around 5 percent, then after .98 it's been around 2.5

ack hope this is not true and they don't ship till nov 15th as they said..if not what are we looking at every 10 days a 50% difficulty increase? hard to ROI back that way!

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

They told me they planned to have
A month in between shipping, and I believe they will hold up to that, other wise they would piss off allot of customers, and anyone smart that paid with a credit card could get a refund if they wanted, and would lose allot of customers if they plan on having a gen 2, though a gen 2 would only be worth while if they got much better watt  / gig performance

yeah I got my Jupiter shipped on oct 15th...got it on oct 18th...imho if you did get it shipped after the 15th you probably should get some kinda compensation

Also I seem to remember knc saying they want to give the 1st order/batch of customers "PREFERENTIAL" treatment towards their next purchase of KNC equipment....does anyone have any more details on that?

Not sure the way stuff is working out if I'll ever buy another miner..with difficulty going nuts and bfl still having 1/2 of its hash to move ...april bitcoin hit mainstream.bfl sold a lot of stuff with their scam from then on.....bfl imho still has a lot of crap to trickle out...(I will get my bfl 7gh jally $388 w/ship on thurs this week went to www.dustcoin.com and I'd make more on PPcoin then bitcoin using that unit ..it was ordered in april (before knc became a company!..by next difficulty it will basically be a brick...my other orders upgraded to 900gh of monarchs...don' t laugh you'll choke...yeah it was a lame punt..but hope is all I have left....misplaced thou it no doubt is...a brick now a brick later same diff..out 8k)

anyway more details on 2nd gen stuff...if knc is really gonna hold off on stuff like that till feb/march (prob wise imho) and the preferential treatment for 1st batch customers thingy stated in the past....if anyone has any more info (of course they also said you could upgrade your Saturn and mercury with modules but I heard on here that is off the table)...

anyway ..... my 2c worth
