Drugs tell no truths.  They do not “expand” consciousness, but dissolve it.  They can turn you into a superstitious nitwit, with voluntarily self-inflicted mental retardation plus schizophrenia.  That is all.

Don’t get me wrong.  Self-harm and suicide are absolute rights, abrogated only by the worst of slave states.  The solution to drug abuse is to give users more drugs; it is cleansing, and even eugenic.

They can turn you into a superstitious nitwit

No more superstitious than somebody who has never experienced psychedelics for themselves but label them as "bad" without fully understanding them.

Psychedelic drugs aren't addictive and can be quite educational if you let them work their magic.

Don't knock it until you've tried it.

Bitcoin will win when we all will start thinking in BTC terms only. Paying in sats, asking for sats, doing channels with the grocery store, the pub, the cabman etc. Until those days there will be no mercy from financial incumbents.

I have missed the posts about bitcoin podcasts in march of this year.

just slammed them all in one post, it is a bit redundant and sloppy. I did not know that they were so abundant. very cool, I will check them all out. when someone first hears about bitcoin it seems overwhelmingly complicated. when going down the rabbit hole and one "gets it" it seems to be actually not that complicated at all: a global ledger on a peer2peer network telling us who owns what that gets audited every 10 minutes and is neither forgeable nor stoppable. but when you go down deeper the details, structures, principles, incentives and emerging functionalities again do get overwhelmingly complex.

I can only recommend to all of you, no matter how long into the space: dig deeper down the rabbit hole, it is rewarding. the protocol may need to ossify, but not your brain.

Well done 600watt! I would suggest you create a thread outside the WO. You could help a few more bitcoiners with this list. Either way, I'm quoting this as a future reference. And then a question: given the huge amount of sources, what would you personally suggest to start with?
Thank you very much

They can turn you into a superstitious nitwit

No more superstitious Infinitely more rational than somebody who has never experienced psychedelics for themselves but label them as "bad" without fully understanding irreparably damaging one’s own abilities of ratiocination with them.

Psychedelic drugs aren't addictive —“oh, yes, I can stop forever anytime I want!”— and can be quite educational conducive to detaching oneself from reality, so as to live in a fantasy— if you let them work their magic menticide.

Don't knock it until you've tried it intentionally made yourself psychotic and thus, compromised your own judgment to the degree that you should not trust yourself, and others should definitely distrust you.

FYFY.  Your advice cheap rationalization of your own stupidly self-destructive behaviour is duly filed in “taken under advisement”. 🗑️

Who the fuck would be sufficiently moronic to believe the opinion of somebody who has used hallucinogenic substances, on the subject of hallucinogenic substances?  (No, wait.  Don’t answer that.  Robots, faster—please!)

Let's see the retrospective charts with latest Election day, in 2016

There is uncertainly before the Election day and after it. Trump will not leave WhiteHouse immediately after the Election day and he has months to do something with his President power. Let's skip the future scenarios and do retrospective findings on how Bitcoin (in price and volume) changed before and after the Election day 4 years ago (in 2016).

Price increased and volume rose too. The question is "Will the history repeat its steps?". I don't know and the conditions from SES (socialeconomic status) to public health problems and political environment in this year is very different than in 2016.

my favorite is Guy Swann since he is reading a lot of interesting and mainly essential bitcoin writings and sometimes interviews the authors later.

https://anchor.fm/thecryptoconomy*

*it is now called bitcoinaudible.com but the anchor link above presents it better imho. indeed, Guy started his podcast in March 2018. that is just 2.5 years ago.

most bitcoin podcasters seem to be married to Austrian economics. has anyone heard of a good btc podcast that tries to do this from a Keynesian point of view? I don't get why Keynes is hated so much by bitcoiners. I don't think he was wrong. government intervention in economic crisis is good imho. what governments worldwide did not do was the other thing that is part of keynes theory: in healthy economic periods governments should save capital in order to have dry powder for the next crisis. the governments just kept spending and printing more money.

... hope is not a plan.

correct. faith, however, is. and i dont mean "faith" as in it will protect you from standing on the tracks when a train comes at you; thats just stupidity.. and it seems far to many seem to think their "faith" will protect them in such manners.

however this thread isnt the place for any real discussion on this.

to each there own. i dont force my faith on others, and dont expect others to force theirs on me. let and let live works for me.

i will say this though. give a good read on the texts on the various flavors of faith (not saying you havent btw, this is for others reading this post who may not of). dont blindly accept anything on others words alone. look at their actions, then decide if its worth a look.

Anyone who uses the word "drugs" to describe naturally occuring psilocybin clearly has absolutely no idea what they are talking about, and probably categorizes marijuana and heroin as equally "bad" because the TV told them so.

reefer madness from 1936 - the one the usa government made. grab a fattie and enjoy.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0028346/

plus the SNL skit on the pot police (dont know what the skit was called). Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi i believe.

great stuff

Hemlock is also “naturally occurring”.  As are arsenic, mercury, and lead.  Plus plenty of other mushrooms!

Anyone who uses the term “naturally occurring” as a criterion for “safe and healthy to take into your body” has brain damage.

clearly has absolutely no idea what they are talking about,

No doubt more than a few people would call me “ignorant” of Jesus.

The inversion of reality to proclaim inferiority and irrationality as superior knowledge is—typical of a certain type.  And there is a pretty good historical hypothesis that much religiosity has been caused by “naturally occurring” drugs—much more Amanita muscaria than psilocybin.  Hmmm.

I won’t deign seriously to argue with your druggie religion any more than I debate Christian evangelicals.

and probably categorizes marijuana and heroin as equally "bad" because the TV said so.

No, I categorize marijuana as very bad based on my life experience of having known hardcore stoners who burnt their brains out with the stuff.  Young and brilliant—some of them could have been smarter than I am.  Among other experience which is perfectly consistent with all of the bad, bad things that people say about marijuana.

reefer madness from 1936 - the one the usa government made. grab a fattie and enjoy.

Thanks, but I am not such a big fan of the cinema.  (And only drug addicts are stupid enough to put up the strawman that Reefer Madness is the primary source of alarm over the deleterious effects of marijuana.)

You just keep telling yourself that.  Dunning-Kruger rather well explains the conceits of druggies about drugs—not so much why they rationalize (which is obvious), but why they cannot see through their own transparent foolishness.  Well, um, they do drugs.  Which wreck the brain.  Duh.

Whereas I am not here to save you; I don’t give a damn if you want to ruin yourself.  It is your problem.

This Wall of ours reminds me of something. We gentlemen come together for one primary purpose, but we have other aims. To chat, to dream, to stare at the walls. Some want to teach or to learn, squabble, make friends or enemies, stir up drama, show off or just lurk. Occasionally we actually talk business. Some find it very hard to grasp, to others it comes all too easily. The main thing is we are all free men here, even if some of us behave like that Germanic chap from Seneca with the sponge. Anyhow, thank the gods for the Wall.
