Nope you completely miss the point.

PayPal allows 350 million people to do this>

just for 20 usd.

If every account on bitcointalk did this it would make a pump.

So far I see 1 person who did this me and I see many like you that have zero understanding of greasing the wheels of progress.

your post is throwing sand in the wheel and gears and every post like it is doing the same.

Once again toss 20 dollars worth of grease and not a hand full of sand.
The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

sorry can't get excited about the Paypal corprotist shit sandwich getting served up for the masses.
you can't deposit your own btc, you can't withdraw your own btc, when you 'spend' btc from paypal the merchant doesn't receive btc ....
I mean wtf is it? It doesn't sound like btc ... it's just some joke token they are using in their internal spreadsheet for peeps who think they are in the btc market but are actually getting played by paypal.

the deception and surreptitious datarape by silicon valley continues, can't cheer this one on.

another tossing sand in the wheels and gears of progress.   grease them brother lube them up 20 usd worth of grease please.

The terms did say they will allow you to purchase with no fee until december 31st. Cheesy
They can charge you whatever they like for their crypto cause you know they won't be going by bitstamp or any other market prices. Wink

But who cares? I mean as long as they're promoting BTC and people are buying let them earn their %

Besides, setting this deadline also makes people buy ASAP (before December 31st) which is again a good thing.

It's a pleasure to spend this day 1 of the Paypal pump with you gentlemen here on WO!   Cool

Riddle me this, why would I buy something to buy something?
Unless you use the Paypal account for hodling it's useless.
Well, aside from the "spreading the word" aspect.

You should not use Paypal to custody your bitcoin, obviously.

But more than 99% of people are nowhere near ready to custody their own keys.

The less stories about how dangerous it is to own Bitcoin, the better.

This is analogous to the arrival of AOL in the internet age.  Do we want AOL instead of the internet?  Hell no.  Did AOL onboard 70% of the US market.  Yup.

Exactly! Paypal will make BTC go incredibly mainstream. I guess leaving the coins in their custody and letting them charge their 5 is a fair price for that.  Cool

Okay we get it, you're a paypal shill who's cheering on the ripping off of millions using the bitcoin brand so they can play in the CME btc options market for their corporate treasury

if a crypto exchange was doing this everyone would be shitting all over them

Now when granma's "invested" in BTC via PayPal, it'll be that much harder for gov. to fight it as money for pornographers, terrorist, durggies...

So true man! I've been saying it for years with my "feed the homeless" rants back in 2014!

I am excited about the price, not excited about paypal at all.
This can't be a whole story, maybe they wait for some legislation.
Otherwise, why would I buy btc on paypal when I cannot buy anything with that btc and/or move it around?

^^^  Gets it.

This is the AOL of Bitcoin and they will onboard a lot of people.  Only difference is PayPal can still pivot and NOT become a instant messaging service no one uses in 10 years.

Do you think PayPal has rolled out their be all end all final product?

But the masses have the same reason to store their wealth in the hardest asset on Earth as the rest of us do.

Also LOOOOOTS of people like to gamble.

Well, now that I'm back from a little happy walk it's time to think about this.

First, glad it's bitcoin and not a paypal shitcoin. A shitcoin would just be their little company scrip, which as we all know is worthless in real terms.

Second: The issue about not having access to your keys is of course bad. Not your keys, not your bitcoin. So I will expect them to have a way to transfer your bitcoin out of their environment and onto the real blockchain. Yes there will be fees, but it will allow us to buy small/medium amounts of bitcoin without having to fuck with bank transfers, even more KYC, or shoving $100 bills into an ATM

Third: Real bitcoin will become a lot more valuable. The nice thing about BC is you can't just print it or fake it. Grows at 6.25 coins per 10 minutes and nothing in the universe can change this. So all these money transfer people are going to need real BTC to function.

Overall bullish. For the smart among us it's not quite true bitcoin (the Govt can easily tell Paypal to give up "your" coins whereas with true BTC they have to beat you with a rubber hose) but it's a start.

Yeah but....it's bitcoin and also 3 other shitcoins that we all know are completely worthless.

Finally found something I can agree with Marcus on. They will screw PayPal hodlers over just like the Robinhood traders get screwed over time and again. With unlimited fractional reserve and holding the real keys, PayPal will be scraping off the cream of trading profits from crypto users' crypto balances. Also by attracting bitcoin hodlers they will pool the btc and help the trading shorters do more damage.
