When I came to know about bitcoin the price then was $240/BTC few years back, if anyone tells me that the price will get to $5000/BTC today I wouldn't have believed the person. But today we are seeing where the price of bitcoin have reached. My greatest far at this point investing in bitcoin is not just the price falling. But the about heartless hackers and US government fighting against bitcoin in the future. Although my understand has increased to the point that I have understood that a country can only ban it within their national territory not in other country.

Very risky, the first thing we must understand before investing is profit and risk, all types of investments there are risks including if we invest bitcoin. Decentralization is not controlled so it can go up and down to hundreds of percent in a day.

Therevis no exact explanation to the risk on bitcoin. Bitcoin price varies every noe and then because of its volatility and an hourly update will help you manage your bitcoin. I would suggest that when you invest on bitcoin with a big value it is safe to say that you keep it in long term since there is speculation that bitcoin will reach to a price of $1m in the future. Remember that bitcoin is really high at risk, so better invest on the value that you can afford to lose to avoid defecit in your finances.

There is risky in any investment but currently bitcoin investment is not only profitable but also less risky with very high return on your investment. If you have bought bitcoins when this thread created then price per bitcoin was around I think $1400-$1500 and right now it is $7300/bitcoin and you might have earned around $5800 in just 6 months.

Bitcoins is profitable but not always. You can loose your money too if you invest in bitcoins at wrong time but if you are planning to hold it for long term then there is very less chance that you loose your money.

Risk is absolutely fundamental to investing; no discussion of returns or performance is meaningful without at least some mention of the risk involved. The rate of risk in investing on bitcoin is depend in investor and i think theres no perfect definitions or measurements of risk.

Well, you cannot really quantify the risk involved in bitcoin investments. But, any investment whether it is in through bitcoin or real cash do have their own risks that an investor must overcome to succeed. Even the best and the biggest companies don't always profit from their investments. Having said, I think one thing an investor can do to decrease the risk is by studying the background and probable outcome of a certain project that could help in decreasing the risk.

I am really worried about Segwit2x. Earlier, I was not concerned much about Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold. Because we knew that these clones are not going to replace Bitcoin. But this time it is different. We still don't know which of the two chains (Legacy and Segwit) will retain the largest number of users.

It is hard to know the amount of risk investing in bitcoins because it was really volatile, maybe it may dump or became more expensive within few months or years and also you said that you are planning to buy 3-4 btc? I think you should not wait any longer if you really wanted to invest then go while its still not reaching the predicted amount next year.
All you have to do is to trust bitcoins and see its potential within next few years.

It depends on the investment you make. Let's say you have invested a big amount, of course the risk is also high because if that investment fails, a big amount will also be gone to you. So, the ideal investment should be fair. Not too big and not too small.

It is not backed by any government or governing body. It works autonomously. Price of bitcoin depends on demand and supply from its traders and investors. Total number of bitcoins in circulation is fixed at the time of its existence, they will never exceed 21 million. Due to these fixed quantity and ever growing demand bitcoin become the most volatile currency. Bitcoin currency is not accepted by all the countries. Countries are accepting it as a legal tender, still many are banning it. After ban from China it has fallen 20% in a single day. So risk of losing money is always there.

buying bitcoin at the moment may not be the right time because bitcoin prices are currently high and regarding the risks in investing in bitcoin may be the price that will fall and will incur losses

I do not think that investing in bitcoin can be any risk at all. We will see bitcoin's popularity to grow in the next few years due to the constant supply and demand that is being applied to it. I have invested quite a bit into a bitcoin and so have a few of my friends.

Actually none of us knows the risk for bitcoin until  you experience it. We all know that its like gambling that if you lose the you lose and if you win then that’s become a successful one. I think naturally, do not ever want big profit but afraid of risk, high profit is also high risk, and vice versa. if unsure of bitcoin I suggest to run and choose another investment.
